After a tiring exploration of the City Palace and a hungry kid, we opted for this place just off the entrance of the palace. The resto is part of the Fateh Prakash Palace hotel and is a fine dine place, and hence the pricing is on the higher side. Great views of Lake Pichola from the restaurant, ambience simple yet beautiful. Hot afternoon meant a vodka cocktail was on the cards and it was refreshing. On the food, some veg kebabs, paneer makhani with some bread, veg biryani for our order - great taste overall , high on quality and quantity. The meal ended with some Jelly custard which was enough to get us going for the rest of the day. Service was a bit slow but food came in hot which made up for it.

This place situated on the outside just by the lake has an amazing view of the lake with nice calm lighting and comfortable chairs.Ambiance 5* : Now I gave them 5* not because of there ambiance but because it is really situated at a very amazing place just overlooking pichola lake with all other property in view and looks really beautiful in the night.Service 5* Service is up to the mark they really give their maximum to make you feel at home and serve you hot and delicious food.Food 3.5* Now there Indian food is really good but as far as their continental food is concerned it was not that good the chicken was not juicy and other things. I think they should look into it because they charge a lot for there food so everything should be up to the mark.Overall 4* As far as ambiance, view and service goes it is a very amazing place to spend time with your near and dear ones.

I didn’t try the food but had a cup of coffee there. Coffee was good and the view was good as you could relaxingly enjoy the make view. The staffs were friendly and not rushing even I just had a coffee.

Visited this restaurant while on a tour of City Palace and its location is just perfect. Its better to visit here early morning since the sun is at your back and the lake shimmers beautifully with a view to remember.It happens only In India that the menu is displayed outside not to show the customers whats on offer but rather to deter those who would not want to spend so much at such an expensive restaurant.The service was excellent and the staff very helpful. We ordered one Cappuccino and one Mixed berry smoothie. The Cappuccino was your regular off the machine one and there is nothing special about it. However they laid out small snippets of Cookies which were excellent.The Mixed berry smoothie was quite refreshing and what made it better was the use of fresh berries. It is quite filling and works great for those who are looking to fill their tummies with lesser calories.They need to caution the Palace security guards outside who keep shouting at travellers to move on and provide unnecessary caution to have a look at the costly menu. Obviously this treatment is reserved only for Indians and not for Out of country guests whom they treat with humility expecting them to drop huge piles of Dollars as tip every now and then. Although, its more often than not that the Indian Traveller is splurging much more than the other travellers who are here primarily on a budget trip.

Amazing view of the lake and lake palace. Make sure to reserve a table by the window. Recommend the Murg Musallam Biryani. At the very least get a beer here - the view is not worth missing.You can skip the nargisi kofta, nothing great. But the coffee ice cream served here is worth a try as you try and extend the amount of time you spend here to enjoy the view.

Beautiful place, testy food but you need minimum ₹4000-5000 if you are planning for a dinner. Quality is obviously good. A nice place to go date.

This was previously known as dove cote when it was not under the taj group of hotels and used to be an open area. But now it has been converted to a closed restaurant. It offers a great view of lake Pichola on one side and the palace and fateh prakash palace on other side. The food is good and the place is very comfortable. A gopd place to relax and enjoy a sweet evening with your friends and loved ones.

Was visit the city place museum, and walked by this restaurant. So we thought to give this a try. We are glad we went here. The view of Taj Hotel and Jad Mandir are the best. Having lunch with this view was one of the highlights of this trip. We ordered their Hong Kong vegetable noodles and their tandoori chicken. And for drinks we ordered their butterscotch milkshakes. The food was also decent but a bit on the pricer side. But I guess this is what you would pay for the beautiful view.

Loved the place by the lake Pichola. Witness the sunset with some great food and beverages to accompany. Must visit.

For service i will give only 1 star.

I came in here to stop on the way up to the city palace for a cup of chai as it seems a nice place to sit - was in there for 5 minutes while I drank and they charged me 266inr for ‘classic teas’. 1 cup of chai is 20-40 rupees depending on size.

Worst experience i ever had with any restaurant. When you call and ask for reservations they will tell you its walk in for lunch but get ready for the humiliation on the security gate . They wont let you entre and ask for reservation and d or kessage . Worst experience of dining in udaipur .

I found this to be a good restaurant (not great). I little overpriced as some restros around in the same locality can serve the same purpose in a cheaper price. Also the services are not very good, they did not care much about our serving food.But this place has its own instinct as its situated within the city palace. If you happen to visit, do not forget to:Have Apple of my Eye and take a walk after dinner around the palace! :)

The ambiance were simply delightful, it was a chilly evening and my first day in Udaiphur, My masala tea request took awhile but it was the best tea I had in my entire trip to Rajastan. The service was very pleasant, we were given good recommendation of food choices. The Briyani was aromatic and tantalizing the senses but not over powering. The palace view from the restaurant gives out an old with new grandeur. However, they can surely do with more welcoming smiles to help guest feel more at ease.

The ambience is very nice and the weather in the evening is great but some of their staff is extremely rude and arrogant. The food is quite overpriced and tastes quite bad. But you can still get something packaged to drink just to enjoy the view for some time.

The most waste of money restaurant, I have ever been. You will curse yourself on every bite of the Food, Delayed Service and even paying the bill also a tedious task. Never recommend to anyone

This lake view restaurent is owned by a Hindu King of Udaipur bt sadly I experienced Racial Descrimination at this restaurent...They didnt even pay attention to my table requirement when I entered and I was asked to find my own table...Bt at same time their approach to the foreign guests was very different...Having this experience in a property owned by Maharaja of Udaipur is realy unfortunate ..While leaving when i told that I am going to write abt it, their aproach became very sweet and polite bt by that time damage was done..and mood was spoiled...Totaly not recommended...

The most expensive chicken tikka wrap in the world. It costs about 750 rupees for just two tikka wrapps, some onion slices, and a wedge of lemon. It took the kitchen 90 minutes to bring the food out. Totally unworthy of my time and money.

Awesome place to sit n dine. Food is very average and very heigh rated, portion of starters and vegetables are also very small. But the we had a wonderful view of lake, palaces which have been converted into hotels.At sunset time we sit there for hours to have the beauty of nature.....At night time when all the palaces lightened up around the lake and in between the lake looks very beautiful...Infront of sunset tarace I think there is a temple on a hill... In the evening after sunset the temple glow in light beautifully, in dark the hill disappears and we can see only temple that looks a heaven in the sky..

Poorest service. The staff didnt even bother to provide us with a menu. After sitting there for about 25-30 minutes I had to go the billing counter and ask them to take my order. Just one table was occupied and I dont know what took them so long.It took them another 20-25 minutes to get the bill.It was a very bad experience with them, never going again.

Indians are the most recist people in the world and this restaurant proves that. Me and my husband got in there for some coffeed and snacks. There were only two tables occupied and two were reserved. We requested to sit on a four seater table on the lake side and the staff said we cant because those tables are for group. He took us to the insides, we again requested to sit again on the lake side and the response was,You can only sit on any of these four tables and not on the lake side, that too was also in quite a rude tone. Disappointed we were leaving restaurant just two see that two foreigners who were with us for the Crystal Gallery tour were allowed to sit on the same table we requested. Since we had met them before we asked them and they said they had no problems from the hotel staff to grab that table. Just because we were Indians we were not treated well. Very insulting experience. These people probably have some foolish ideas that Indians cant afford them!! Just a thought.

Great view but disappointing staff

Disgusted with my entire experience at Sunset Terrace on November 12th.I booked a table for 5:00 pm and upon reaching the venue was not greeted and treated properly. We werent even directed to our table. I am visiting from Melbourne and wanted my Parents and in-laws to have a good evening experience but was rather treated inappropriately. We were asked to take any table and after a minute of sitting at a table, we were moved to another table and then it was a rushed experience then on. After placing the order, I felt like they just wanted us to leave from there as they repeatedly came and asked us to leave coz they wanted to set the table for dinner from 6:30 pm. Things mentioned in the menu werent there in the stock and after getting our cheque they wanted us to pay fast and leave. Hence, in that state i didnt check the bill and after having reached home i saw that they charged us for a tea that they themselves said wasnt available and an extra coffee.They made me feel that they were serving me for the heck of it and didnt really feel welcomed in that place and when looked around i saw the royal treatment that they gave foreigners. Its amazing how indians are treated by other indians in their own country.I thought it must have been a mistake and reached the venue next day to talk to the management about the same but they just washed their hands off the entire incident and didnt bother double checking with their staff, neither did they have cameras to check, nor did they have any way to check the same in their system. Rather, they defied us and the server, Kalu Singh lied through his teeth and Ajay, so called manager supported him. I was disgusted and appalled as I hadnt seen this kind of behaviour in a long long time.This is a disgrace to HRH group and Royal highness as they appoint such staff who are slack and frauds in their professional environment and know nothing about customer service.Its not about the money but ethics and values and i am feeling cheated and fleeced.
