Great service. Nice patio and restaurant on quiet and (for downtown) relatively leafy street. Looked like they were using fresh herbs grown out front. No tipping allowed. Veg options leave a bit to be desired. Cauliflower dish was a bit on salty side. Ice cream sandwich dessert (pictured) was a highlight from a food perspective.

Came here recently with a friend and the service and food were so great! Friendly staff and stunning plating. We shared the ricotta, squid, and cauliflower. My friend I enjoyed the meal so much I requested the Fenwood chicken as a takeaway with a side of sourdough. Unfortunately, I had already left the restaurant when I checked the chicken and noticed it looked shockingly bad… Besides the general appearance, I noticed mainly the missing ingredients ie asparagus, etc. I understand their presentation can only truly be controlled dine-in, but I hadn’t gone far, so it was quite disappointing given this dish was also the priciest on the menu. In any case, I’d recommend dining in and maybe reconsidering taking away… although, maybe this was a total fluke?

Great overall experience! Food was super delicious and service was great. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the ambiance. Next time we’ll try dining indoors. 10/10 would recommend!

GO HERE! My group stopped here on our way from downtown and we were so happy we did. Cozy up under the beautiful patio and enjoy the vibrant food and drink options. The gin and juice was amazing and so was the Daiquiri. Unfortunately their kitchen closed pretty early, so only drink reviews from me. But the food menu looked and sounded so yummy, we left with rumbling tummies lol. Our server, Ariel (could be spelling that completely wrong, but he did say “like the little mermaid” lol) was fabulous, he was super attentive and really charming, he made our experience even better. Definitely a spot worth going to!

Marben was one of the first local bar/restaurants I’ve visited when I first moved here. The burger was claimed to be the best in Toronto... and wow... they were right. I’ve had burgers from most of the coolest spots in the city and this place takes it 100%. During the pandemic they also have custom or take-home cocktails which are AMAZING. The people that work there are great, friendly and very knowledgeable about the food they have, the sources of their local farmer produce, and the taste profiles of their drinks.Easily my favourite spot in Toronto so far! I can’t wait till covid goes away because I will be a regular for sure.

This place is adorable but I’m not a huge fan of their food. The veggie burger was probably the worst I’ve ever had and I’m a huge fan of veggie burgers. Service was excellent though and overall it was a good experience

1st patio of the season and have to say may be my last principle of the matter is I know restos have to make back up the money but he prices have to justify the food. $105 for 2 with no drinks or dessert $7 for distilled water extra for a side. This is in reference to the Tempah burger on a thin which is mostly bun and skinny fries looked quite pathetic. The $30 cod is actually half the fish with this shrimp tamale that tastes poor for me personally. No veggies garnished so their chipping on ingredients lazily while the service was solid it seems to come with deception as the server told me option for fries was regular or spicy which they consider midnight truffle oil fries which taste zero truffle oil. The flavors are there but it doesnt feel like a complete dish lastly the zucchini is like a cob of corn smothered with sauce oh yay thanks for inspiration and lack of innovation. Creativity and integrity have been compromised never again rather order in confusing to lie about dish names and no respect for your customers to present a thoughtful dish. Theres just the basics to cook to survive also there was a mouse scurrying on the patio so be weary of your feet on the ground.

Absolutly not,, Made a reservation if want to cancel $50, went there absolutly no there can see why with the prices,,,hamburger $21 and if want fries another $7 for frozen pre cut fries. Why reserve just go there save yourself $50 cause no one there anyway, was there for over 1 hr and still the only one there, had to ask for a cloth to clean table, still had dirt on it .to save the cost of reservation ordered fried cauliflower, great deal for some cauliflower tips,,,$17 with a little spice, chicken $32 can get a steak for less, would not recommend this place at all

Marben was a great experience! The food tasted great, the portions were great, and for a no-tipping restaurant the prices were comfortable. Despite being a no-tipping restaurant, our server Arielle went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great. When the food took longer than anticipated (although we didnt notice!), we were offered complimentary drinks without asking and we were checked in on often. I really hope other restaurants follow Marben in paying staff a livable wage, the experience was great.

This restaurant is the place to be for a great date night. The food is amazing, the drink selection extensive, and the service is second to none. After the first time visiting this place I immediately want to bring everyone I knew here. Has a great patio and is on a calmer street in downtown Toronto. You will not regret coming here!

Much more laid back vibe than a lot of places on King west. The food was good, the burger was very juicy and the fried cauliflower was nice too. The patio faces south so you get the sun all day, and there is good shade coverage.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city, food here is always delicious! Everything about Marben invites you to come back again. Beautiful room, impeccable service, a very well-selected wine list and the atmosphere that makes you feel you belong there. I really enjoy attending the special events here, Chef Chris creates amazing food inspired by the season and using only Canadian and loca ingredients. My to-go dishes are the vegetarian or vegan and they never disappoint!

Very good service but the overall experience was pretty meh. Won’t be going back plus the price range is sort high for what it is. Perhaps is it better once indoor dining is permitted…

I went this place to try their brunch menu with my friends and we got “John’s Burger”, “French Toast”, and “The Fry Up”. The burger was just okay, because the bun was bit stiff to bite. French toast was the best choice because of the Vampire plum compote dressing as they described in the menu. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff!

An intriguing contemporary Colonial British dining experience. The unique decor is sure to impress. Menu is diverse and interesting. Ample seating in a variety of arrangements to satisfy just about any dining adventure.Service is fast and friendly, willing to cater to any unusual request.Wide selection of brunch menu items, with the option for fresh orange or grapefruit juice, pressed before your eyes. Certainly worth a try. Coffee is quite good. I think I will return for another try.

We went for a summerlicious dinner and it was excellent. The cauliflower appetizer was amazing and the desserts were both delicious. We ate outside. Got a few mosquito bites!! But we sat out for several hours and weren’t rushed. A lovely evening.

This place was SO good. We had an early dinner in our first night in Toronto and it was some of the best food of the trip. Inventive, unique, and beautiful, our meals were not only delicious, they were pretty. When we arrived the chef was cooling dozens of beef fat brioche buns and, seeing me ogle them, he brought one over for us to try. I died. It was amazing. My meal was the chicken leg and my only complaint was that I wanted more. It was not quite enough for me. But the wine was exceptional and the food left me wanting more rather than feeling so stuffed I couldn’t move. Overall, a very cool vibe and an awesome meal. We’ll be back!

Very welcoming staff. Meticulously well thought out menu and decor. Music was great. Beef cheeks, lobster and roots, breast of lamb, and the burger all highly recommended.

We had a lovely early dinner in their patio which was heated by some gas towers. We got started with the sourdough with cultured butter, and ordered Johns Burger and the popcorn chicken. Everything was delicious and the servers were very attentive and kind. Special shout-out to our female server (my apologies for not remembering her name) who was new, and very professional. An interesting detail: they have adjusted the prices to become a no tipping restaurant, like in Europe. I am not sure what to think about this. If the servers are adequately compensated it sounds great! If they are going to earn less as a consequence, then I am not so much in favor. In any case it was such a treat to have a proper meal with table service!

Top end Dirty Martini.

Food was delicious and well balanced. Well thought out sauces for each dish. Dessert was mediocre - butter tart crust was over cooked. Farm fresh, locally sourced vegetables and meet (which I appreciate). Overall above average and a good place to check out for brunch or dinner.

One of the best brunch places in Toronto I’ve tried so far. The ambiance was awesome and I loved the interior design of this place. Very old style English meets hipster vibes.The Fry Up had eggs, hash, mushrooms, sausage, sourdough toast and baked beans. Big portion, enough to fill you for brunch. Each individual item on this plate was so well done. The mushroom was very flavourful, the hash was super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the sunny side up eggs are perfectly cooked with a gooey yolk.The poached eggs with smoked trout was very good too, on a bed of sweet potato hash which was delicious.Overall definitely value for money in terms of the food quality and ambiance for a brunch at this places.

Went here for dinner. I highly recommend making a reservation or you will not get a table or end up at the bar. We had bar seating. Im always a bit leery of sitting at the bar when I know Im going to order food, but this was an excellent experience. The staff were quick, attentive, and friendly. The food selection was lovely and it made picking one item a hard choice. I had a few nibbles of the steak which was excellent. The pork belly was melt in your mouth delicious. The atmosphere was very welcoming and warm. Would definitely recommend for a small gathering of sorts or a date night.

Summerlicious was just right. Its worth going back. Portions were just the right size for me. Fresh and flavourful plates focused on local/near-local, in-season ingredients. They dont skimp on service either.

I like that its a no tip establishment so prices are as is and the patio space and service was nice and good. We ordered the house pickles, bread, and some drinks. I found the pickles very one note, everything was basically thrown into a vat of vinegar without differences in seasoning based on the vegetable type or variation in vinegar. The bread was also very plain and came untoasted which is the least that could be done with bread. Although, the miso butter was very tasty, I wasnt sure what to do with the sourdough vinegar on the side. It came in a small jug which was awkward for dipping but pouring it seemed weird.

Second time going to Marben and the food continues to shine. If you get a chance to have the burger on the patio while the weather is good, seize the opportunity.

This is my first time in marben. I like the decors and the atmosphere in this restaurant a lot. Their brunch are very yummy as well. Not too cheap, kinda in a higher price range. If you want something fancy but not too fancy, I recommend this place

Excellent restaurant! I came here for their Summerlicious offering and am super delighted that I did! We went on a somewhat nice day and was able to enjoy their cute patio. What I love about this small street is that, its somewhat hidden and sitting outside is wonderful - you can actually enjoy your food and company sans the annoying car noise.For the summerlicious menu, I had chosen a delicious starter whcih i unfortunately cant remember what it was , a dish with fish and mussels cooked in a savoury coconut milk broth and finished with an ice cream cookie for dessert. I remember enjoying every bite out of each dish and wishing there were more of them!One of the things that i remember most about this restaurant is the bathroom. Its probably one of the most beautiful restaurant bathroom ive ever seen!Cest un restaurant très sympa! Will definitely be back!

Just the most excellent resto! Good, cocktails and wine all top notch. Not to mention fantastic and friendly service. The COVID protocols of table spacing and cleaning before after we sat down was so appreciated. One of fav spots in the city before, during and certainly after this pandemic ends. Food is fabulous, interior is cozy but chic, outside is beautiful on a sunny day!We stumbled across this restaurant last year and it continues to be a favourite of ours whether its just us or were entertaining for Sunday brunch!The service continues to be pleasant and welcoming without being overbearing.Also, theyve switched to a no tipping model which is great because we know the staff are getting paid a more consistent wage and takes the pressure off the dinning experience. We feel like were back in Australia.Love, love, love and highly recommend!

Marben is my go-to in the neighbourhood. The food and cocktails are always a surprising, delightful take on elevated English food and well balanced cocktails. Their extensive wine list is within reach on their half-price bottles Sunday deal. Beyond the good quality of cuisine, what stands out about Marben is the incredibly welcoming staff. This is the only place in Toronto where Ive been treated like a regular. Best of all, unlike the majority, there isnt a TV screen in sight.

Burger was good but menu feels lacking and nothing particularly stands out. Expect more for the price of this place.

The decor at Marben presents it as an upscale gastropub, with unique decor, a nice ambiance and a great patio space out front that would be perfect for an afterwork hangout or for casual drinks with friends. But, the food seems quite overpriced for what it is, and the service was sadly very inconsistent.Johns Burger is praised by a lot of people as one of the best burgers in the city so we had high expectations. Of the menu items we tried, Id say thats the best bang for your buck, but its certainly not the best burger. The cucumber and cavier appetizer was refreshing, but disappointing in that its far too light and theres literally one tiny oyster. While the chilled jalapeno broth was delicious, its like youre fishing in a plate of juice. As for the Kipfers Farm Pork Belly, I loved the flavours of every aspect of the dish. But, again it felt short with its very small portion, and the pork belly was unsuitably fatty for a restaurant to serve as a main.For the price and the abundance of options in this city, Marben is far from impressive. I dont think well return anytime soon.

This is always one of my favourite destinations. Warm people, great food, and good drink menu. Not an overwhelming amount of options at times and menu changes, which offers enough variance and selection for your date who is often indecisive. Staff are always courteous and accommodating, polite and warm, and attentive.

I ate here over 2 years ago now so take my review for what its worth, but I only realized tonight I had never left one. The food was excellent - One of the best burgers I have ever eaten in my life. The quality of the cooking and cut of the meat stood out at the time. Ambience was good - very non-pretentious, which I appreciate in finer dining. Service staff was of the same note; I didnt put them through their paces (it was just two of us eating and one of us drinking), but they stood out as attentive and down to earth. Finally, the Amaretto Sour I ordered was effing incredible. A+++. Whoever bartended there on March 14th 2019, well done.

Marben never fails to disappoint. Chef Chris does an incredible job of creating menus that are full of creative, contemporary British fare - something that is hard to come by in Toronto. Throughout the pandemic, the general manager Karen has run a tight ship and Marben has done a great job in making everyone feel safe. Do yourself a favour and go downstairs to the Cloak Bar, which they’ve also just reopened for great cocktails.

The food was delicious!

A nice restaurant, good location, with a warm ambience. There is a very nice patio in an oddly unbusy street of downtown. The food choices are limited. The quality of food is good but not extraordinary. The toast is so delicious. Not too kids friendly. They only had one high-chair and they took ours away because another table booked earlier.

I came to have the burger. Let’s break this down. The overall flavor was balanced, salty and sweet with the juicy texture you want out of a medium rare patty. Sponge Bob would be proud. The bun was also quite enjoyable, softer than a morning pillow before work. You can’t say I’m wrong. Simply put, I ate this as slow as possible to enjoy this moment for as long as I could. I’d love to bring someone here. PS. Your playlist was great. Turn it up!

Fantastic. One of the best brunch places in the city with all you can drink mimosas for 20$. Interior design is cool, patio is perfect during patio season and staff is super friendly. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and am yet to be disappointed. When I have friends visiting out of town, Marben is one of my go to spots for a patio brunch. Just try it yourself!

First time coming here and ordered their burger. Fries were delicious but I cant say the burger was. It was a large piece of meat that was super filling, but it lacked flavour and was pretty dry.Wouldnt recommend as you can spend $22 for a better burger elsewhere.

Excellent ambience, quite the impressive décor, very industrial-chic. Friendly, attentive and professional staff. Both of us cleaned our plates, good eating. Four instead of five stars because: desert menu had just two items, and the wine list was clearly compiled by someone who had drunk too much wine. The cheapest bottle is $70, for Ontario wine that is, like, $12 at your local Wine Rack, and theres only about half a dozen red and whites. Its honestly one of the most pathetic wine lists Ive ever seen.

I liked what I ordered (especially the marmalade). I was a bit weirded out by the sweet baked beans though.

Unbelievable. Just because we were a group of 5 guy friends looking to celebrate my cousin’s birthday, they didn’t let us in around 1am on Saturday night.They explicitly said they wouldn’t let us in. The bouncers weren’t so clear but I’m assuming that that’s the case.You would benefit from not wasting your time.

Friendly staff, great cocktails, we ate the Ploughman’s board which was delicious.Visited during lockdowns and felt very safe and like the staff were taking things very seriously. All wearing masks, QR code for menu, well spaced tables on the patio and recording patrons details in case they needed to inform us of an outbreak. Will definitely return again this summer.

Bit of a mixed experience.On the one hand, the decor and service were great; two of us walked up on a friday evening without a reservation, it was just starting to get busy but they still found us a table promptly and let us choose inside or outside (we chose the latter). The staff seemed busy but not harried and never left us waiting once we asked for something.On the other hand, the atmosphere, menu and even some of the reviews here made us expect we were about to get a hearty, rustic meal which would have been great since we were starving - it seemed like a ritzy-er take on the irish pubs the neighbourhood is full of. However the food was about as far as I can imagine from rustic and hearty, with the focus seeming to be mostly on presentation to fit a trendy upscale restaurant. It still tasted good but left us with a well this was interesting but I wish there was more to it feeling (and both of us usually struggle to finish a serving at most places, so its not like we were expecting giant american portions or anything). We happened to both order the same thing so not a representative sample unfortunately, but while tasty enough, I wouldnt call it particularly memorable. The cocktail was great though, and ordering a bunch of appetizers would probably have helped.Ill still leave them 4 stars and a hopefully hearty tip since its only our own fault for having picked a place without finding out a bit more of what to expect, but just be wary of the picture painted by the reviews and self-description.

Beef Carpaccio is completely indescribable. Only good things to be said about the food, drinks and service! Server Arie paired the food and drink with impeccable hospitality and light humour. Thanks for the great birthday celebration, my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her time!

Went with an old colleague and his fiancée. Can’t say enough about the excellent service, great food, and terrific cocktails. The person behind the bar had an incredible depth of knowledge of his offering, and presented them all with good humor and attentive service. I tried a few of the cocktails on offer, and their Bijou was a very well-executed classic. We shared a few dishes, and all were great. Highly recommend for basically any occasion.

Went here for dinner. Excellent food with a fusion twist. Had an very nice Portugese wine.

First time, great impression. A bit tricky to find the entrance but seemed obvious once we did.Hats off to the DJ that apparently make the outstanding bread as well as keeps the place fed with great music.Service was top notch. A good mix of cocktails that were mostly classics with a little twist.We had a full meal but this would be a perfect spot to go for just drinks and a bite as they have a lot of snacks, shareables and apps.
