We came here for a special celebration and it was amazing. We sat at the chefs counter and got to watch as all the amazing preparation happened. Just watching the chefs work is reason enough to come and sit by the live fire grill. The chefs were lovely to talk to and all the servers were extremely friendly. The food was absolutely amazing, each dish had a sense of uniqueness but also something familiar that brought you home. Over all an amazing experience and I would definitely come back.
I have been here countless times and this place never disappoints. Amazing food every single time. I have ordered pretty much everything off the dinner menu throughout my many visits and taste of the food is better each time. Great place to treat yourself to some tasty good quality food and drinks. The drinks are quite pricey depending on what you order however you do get what you pay for which is good quality and taste. Customer service is top notch as well. I will be back as many times as I can.
The service and food was absolutely amazing. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and inviting. The atmosphere was expertly decorated and I felt like I was in a James Bond movie set. I took my parents there for my fathers Birthday and they all wished my father happy birthday and made it a very memorable night. Thank you Kojin staff :)
Absolutely loved this place. We sat at the bar over looking the grilling station and watch perfect meat turned out all night. Ordered the rib-eye, squash and apple salad, brussel sprouts, meat platter, corn bread flat bread, and salmon crudo. The only dish that was not a superstar was the salmon, everything else was spectacular. Tried the peanut cake for dessert and was pleasantly surprised. Great place, highly recommended.
Went here to celebrate the holidays with some co-workers. The place has an elevator for folks who are unable to take the stairs so this place is accommodating! When you arrive, the host as well as the waiters are exceptionally friendly. We ordered various items on the menu since it was our first time. We ordered the Kōjin burger, lemongrass chicken and the island cod. We tried each other’s dishes and by far the burger is the best thing we ate here.Environment: It is enjoyable to sit at the chefs table to watch them cook. Watching them put wood into the stove or watching the chefs turn a crank that would let the grill move up or down from the flame.. loved it. The washrooms are in the 2nd floor and are clean.Service: everyone had a smile. It was nice! Very friendly. Our waiter was nice to put our leftover chicken in a togo bag.Food: Pricey but that burger is super memorable that I’m still thinking about it days later. We also ordered the corn bread with eggplant as appetizer and we ate that in a snap. You come here for the experience, and exceptionally tasty food. Don’t come here if you’re on a budget and rate them low because you think they are overpriced. You come here to let your taste buds delight in the food pairings, then leave a nice rating because.. they deliver. In the immortal words of the Terminator, I’ll be back. 💯
Its quite expensive, totally worth it. The place was nice and amazing, and its pretty full the last time I went here. The staff was very kind and very friendly. The atmosphere was chill and classy, and the food we got was delicious and tasty and generous. Some of our order was delayed. So far, it was a great portion of food and a memorable meal.
A fabulous experience at the restaurant, with impeccable service in a classy and elegant decor. The flatbread was perfect, hot and slightly crispy on the outside but deliciously soft on the inside. The highlight of course is the steak a perfectly medium rare rib eye and the grilled shishito pepper added a perfect kick to the experience
We ordered the corn flatbread with Drew’s Grass Fed butter (butter with some sort of jam/marmalade—sweet with a bit of spice!), the Sausage Board (three different types of sausages), and the Butcher’s Steak with Tita’s Mash on the side. For you meat lovers, this is a place to definitely try!! Each dish has their own unique attention to detail on its flavours and it did not disappoint.
The only adequate reaction to this sorry excuse for a restaurant would be to use every profanity Chef Chang is so fond of exploiting in his TV shows. Thats what happens when you keep franchising. In rare cases the quality of the original restaurant (product, movie, designer brand, etc.) is still the same, but by and large a disappointing sequel is the result. Kojin is not even that. From our first step into David Changs Canadian outpost of his Momofuku empire everything cried chain restaurant. From the tacky, aiming at upscale, interior to inept servers, to the god-awful, bland, poorly prepared and negligently served food, we couldnt believe how low a reputable brand could fall. The sausage board (priced at $29) was just three sausages placed in a plate with Kozlik mustard (a widely available supermarket brand). The server dropped a piece of sausage and was totally oblivious of that until pointed out. The beef tartare was dry and tasteless, served with generic chips that would make Ruffles or Lays taste like the worlds most coveted delicacy, the 15 oz Bone-in Striploin, priced at $77, was on par with what you can get at TGIF or any other chain restaurant. We had two previous experiences with David Changs cuisine, at the now defunct NYC Ma Peche and the residency dinner, prepared by the Executive Chef, along with his team, of Chef Changs 2-Michelin-stars Momofuku. David Chang and the people behind his Momofuku family should be ashamed of Kojin.
Overall: prices are very reasonable, plating was very good, environment was very nice, but taste of the food was very mediocre (except for the flatbread with honey and butter).Maybe it’s was because I really like momofuku and I had very high hopes for this place, but I found the taste of most of the dishes very mediocre. And I personally probably wouldn’t go back again. The flatbread with butter and honey was super delicious and unique though.
Super disappointed. I’ve been wanting to go here for so long hearing all the good reviews! I ordered the bone in striploin, fries, oysters and wild mushroom & new farm kale. The oysters were sooo fishy I could only have one and even then it barely went down. The striploin and fries were extremely salty making it difficult to eat but I honestly really loved the wild mushroom & kale dish it was delicious. I enjoyed the ambiance and the staff was great! Will definitely give this place one more try... I’m big on second chances so hopefully next time it’ll be better!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. 😃The chefs side table was like having dinner and a show. You got to see snippets of the hustle and bustle that goes on in fine dining. The chicken🐓 nuggies and Acadian caviar took me by surprise. It was salty, rich, fresh, and a great contrast of textures. The herbs, creme fraiche, the Chicken(perfectly seasoned) was juicy with a crispy exterior and caviar really lifted that dish. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The dry aged bone in strip loin 🥩 with bone marrow butter was exceptional. It was packed with umami and richness. That steak melted in my mouth. It was a steak that edentulous people could eat. All in all great venue. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
We were here at the first service on the night of June 8th, 2018. Lovely setting but we werent blown away with the food. First night woes always seem to come up when restaurants open, so I definitely will be back and update this review when I do. Ill probably give it a year (mid 2019) and see how it has set.We had drinks to start, my Moscow Mule was very good! And began with the shareable sausage board, which to be honest was the reason I gave such a low rating. Out of 5 stars, the sausage board itself was a 2, only because one of the sausages was actually delicious. One of them was terrible, and watery, the other was alright. The potatoes were pretty good, and then we ordered the $38 steak. The steak we had, was well cooked, juicy and well-seasoned. It was definitely better than the sausages, but once again I was not blown away by it. I understand we did not buy the dry-aged steaks as Im sure they are amazing, but it was just alright. I would recommend really spending the extra money and just getting the best of what they have.Overall, service was excellent, our server really went out of his way to go through the whole menu with us and they really took care of us. Straight up, the pickled vegetables were our favourite part of the meal. Will definitely be back to try the $78 steak and will update my review once I do!
A lot has been written about their corn flatbread, a concoction that combines Chef Paula Navarrete’s Colombian roots with inspiration from Chef Chang’s bing flatbread. Even plain it’s good – I inhaled the toasted corn aroma before biting into the bread that’s lightly salted and has a bit of oiliness with crispy edges. Frankly, Id like the option of just ordering them without anything else (the most minimal order is with butter and honey); your closest option would be the flatbread with ham and to eat them separately.Being a steakhouse, Kōjin’s menu is very different from their predecessors (although there are choices for those who dont eat red meat). Oh, how heads turn when the wooden platter of steak is presented at a table. Our 14oz boneless ribeye ($78) arrives with a fire roasted tomato sauce (nice and zesty but would be better with fish), steak sauce (oddly tastes exactly like Diana barbeque sauce), and brown butter marrow with porcini dust (the best of the three with steak). Then on the side is what looks like a large shishto pepper but is much spicier … good luck finishing that thing.
Came for mothers Day dinner with the family and we were not as impressed as we hoped to be. Our starters were alright, the corn bread with avocado & sardines was pretty yummy, cornbread was fresh, crispy on the outside & soft in the Inside. We were VERY disappointed with our $77 Steak. Supposed to come medium rare with a crispy exterior, but arrived pale looking and over medium with minimal taste, not even close to worth what we paid. The blueberry crumble for dessert was good, came with a homemade whip cream & blueberry sauce. The crumble was good but tasted just like the corn bread and looked like it too. Service was good but a couple items on the order got mixed up or forgotten. Will not be going back, frankly Im surprised this place has received some of the highest praise in the city.
Nice decor, excellent food and great experience. We ordered the ribeye which was very flavourful and juicy, burger which was juicy and tender, and striploin which was pretty good as well. We also had marinated sardines with corn flatbread and Gouda mashed potatoes. The sardines were delicious and not fishy and the Gouda potatoes were creamy and cheesy. Prices were a bit high but worth it
Went to Kojin for a birthday dinner. The meal was average for the price. As others mentioned, the flatbread was a nice appetizer and our duck entree was cooked well. However, the brussel sprouts were too salty and the shrimp crudo was underwhelming. While the service that night was good, I was told beforehand that a cake was prepared but did not arrive.
The service and ambience was good and this is why they earn two stars.Unfortunately, the dinner was less then impressive. I actually went ahead and made friends wth the table beside us and asked them how their experience was because I was so excited to try this place out, they mentioned their steak was extremely dry and well-done.They were right, I posted an image of the steak to show you exactly how well done it was, and I definitely don’t believe in having steak well-done. It’s a waste of meat in my opinion like that, as well it was super dry.The rest of the dishes were good but nothing memorable.Average price I would say, would not return by choice.Sorry Kojin! (Really wanted to love this place, very disappointed)
Great dining experience. We sat at the chef’s table with Ben at the helm - he made our meal all the more enjoyable! Service was great, friendly, warm but not over the top. We were offered the 40 oz. porterhouse steak which was perfectly seared and cooked. The brussel sprouts were also delicious. Nice wine selection.Get the chocolate soufflé cake if they have it for dessert! It takes 30 mins to prepare but it’s heavenly. Can’t wait to come back
David Chang has done it again. This time on my side of the border. You wouldnt expect a Columbian cuisine from his restaurant but you can and should expect that David Chang has a unique and transformative leadership skill allowing those who work on the ground to create a culinary adventure that fits into a loose framework of his set of rules. With amazing food meant to be shared family style each dish from the sub categories from the menu builds upon each other. From the beautiful corn bread with condiments the roasted beets to the grilled steak, everything was the perfect portion so you were satisfied but didnt feel overly full. The ambience was fantastic located just to the side of the Shangri-La Hotel. Set inside a giant cube like structure where the main floor is his classic noodle bar, the middle floor is the dessert queen Christina Tocis Milk Bar and the top floor is glass encased where you have great views of the surrounding city scape and University Boulevard below. This place has a little Momofuku for everyone.
Overall: Ill give it 3.5, the food is just OKAY, a bit overpriced for its taste, but a very nice place with a wonderful view.FOOD: Ive been here since before lockdown. And I was so excited because of its hype. But i was kinda disappointed. The food is not bad but nothing special to be that famous. The steak was the best among all the dishes I ordered. I dont have any memories or impression with the rest. They were all ...so so. I had to go downstairs get myself some more ramen.INSIDE: very friendly staffs, perfect place for formal meals or events. If you dine-in, do book yourself the table in the corner next to the window, I think that the best seat as its all surrounded by windows.
If this review was solely based on the service it would exceed 5 stars. Impeccable service. However Im settling on only 2 stars. Pretty much everything food-wise missed the mark. The $115 seafood plate was the hands down the most disappointing dish, dollar for dollar, Ive ever experienced. There was so little to it that any highlight was drastically overshadowed by the overall level of mundaneness. The $75 bone in striploin was nothing to write home about too. It arrived sliced which worked as it was shared but I would hope they would not do this if it wasnt being shared. On a positive note the steak was accurately prepared. I think this restaurant is confused about its identity, its main entries are all steak but the product is simply not there. The previous version at this location Diashu was much more memorable. Will never return.
First time coming here since Shoto closed. The counter is about a third of the size as before, and is only used to make a small portion of the dishes. The flatbread was good and went well with the fish. Mussels sauce was good but the actual mussels were almost too tiny to be suitable. Cant complain about the ribeye, though there are numerous restaurants in Toronto that cook beef Latin American style and very hard to beat. Overall happy with the meal but still sad that there is one fewer tasting menu place in town.
Awesome view of the grill at the bar, had an amazing steak 👌
Excellent service, and excellent food for a good price! Kojin is a unique dining experience that is cheaper than I was expecting. The price is reasonable considering you get some pretty generous portions! What I love about this restaurant is David Chang let the head chef have her way with the menu, so her South American influence is very evident in these Asian fusion dishes. I highly recommend if you’re in Toronto! Also, they make some pretty mean cocktails.
Nice location, awesome food.
Kojin: I would describe it as the high-end restaurant of David Changs Momofuku empire in Toronto. While the name of the restaurant is Japanese, the food offered is not focused on Japanese cuisine.Location:Situated in the Shangri-La Hotel on University Ave. It is located on the third floor, past the Noodle Bar on the first floor and the Milk Bar on the second floor. (Washrooms are on the second floor, across from the last flight of stairs to get to Kojin; if youre able, dont take the elevator :P)Interior: The space has a lot of natural lighting and high ceilings; it is gorgeous. We were situated beside the glass windows, so we could see the hustle and bustle of the city.Food:1. Cornmeal and hominy flatbread with Drews Grass Fed Butter. It comes with two round flatbreads, and on a side dish, the butter with honey and, in a separate jar, the hot sauce. The texture of the flatbread was soft, however, it has enough structure that can be picked-up and eaten with your hands. It has a mild taste on its own. However, with the butter, honey and hot sauce, it is a delightful combination of salty, sweet and spice. The condiments on their own would be plain. For example, I found the hot sauce on its own very spicy, but mix it in with the butter and honey and it was a great bite.My only critique is the cooking of the flatbread. Flip the flatbread over and some parts were blackened. I ended up having to peel off (its already thin!) these parts. (Enough for our party of 3)2. Winter Greens & Celery Root Salad: The Winter Greens had a poppy seed dressing. In the pictures, it is the dish with what I believe to be cheese to be on top. In the dish there are some orange segments. The greens were fresh and crisp and it wasnt overly dressed. However, the price is a bit steep. The celery root salad reminded me of a coleslaw. There was too much dressing for my liking - very creamy.Overall, nothing ground-breaking with these salads, but I like having copious amount of vegetables with my meals :)3. Banana Leaf Steamed CodIt comes on a bed of congee (not sure if that is the rice grits as stated on the menu). The green sauce was fragrant and reminiscent of the Thai green curry but without the spice! The cod was steamed well. It separated with ease when I used my fork. It was tasty.4. Roasted mushrooms (side dish): We could have done without it - standard mushroom tasting dish but for $15. On the bottom of the dish, there is some cream cheese sauce.Overall: Despite being considered a refined restaurant in the downtown/financial district, I will give cudos to the restaurant for not skimping on the portions. Also, the presentation of their dishes is aesthetically pleasing.Service: Service is alright, they were not intrusive. However, we had to flag down people at times. This is something I wouldnt expect for such an establishment, but this doesnt impact the review.
Rib eye steak was a tad salty, but overall very delicious. Aged and cooked to perfectly. Service was good too.
Great dishes, all meant for sharing. On the pricey end, so best with a group of 4+ to sample more variety. Excellent cocktails!
Love this place, the flatbreads and steaks are amazing, will be coming back until I try everything on the menu
It was my second visit here but sadly I didnt get the opportunity to sample or enjoy the delicious food being offered to the other guests. Happily, I did experience the wonderful hospitality of the staff, the elegant ambiance and joyful atmosphere in this fine establishment. I must bring Mrs. Claus with me next time during the off-season to really appreciate the Kojin. Ho, ho, ho.
Very good, not incredible, but good value for money.
An amazing experience at Kojin. We had the beef and prawns, as well as the beef tartar and corn bread spreads. Great range of flavors and presentation. Desserts were unreal, the dolce de leche was a different world. The wine expert provided us with two fantastic recommendations for our price range. Will be back for sure!
Came here for our anniversary. Love the view and decor.
Like this restaurant needs more positive reviews. I havent been back here since they changed it over from the original momofuku restaurant. Its now more focused on grilled meats using their huge wood-fired grill in the back kitchen area. Although the previous restaurant was amazing, I certainly cant complain about the change. Everything was really excellent, and the whole chicken which ended up coming served as a few different dishes, was have fun and delicious surprise. But the real star of the show was the flatbread, a stack of dense toothsome corn-based pancakes, that came with a beautiful pair of scissors that you see in a million photos posted here. That was a fun touch, and I probably could have eaten an unlimited stack of those cornbread pancakes (or triangles, once we got done with the scissors). Its also just a beautiful space, with various different areas each with its own atmosphere. It would be fun to come back and sit at the chefs counter versus the bar versus the main dining room.
I definitely miss the asian influence, but have to admit that I had a great meal. While I have dreamed about dining at Jacobs, this is the most I have ever spent on a steak ($77), and it certainly delivered! It was the best steak I have ever tasted. Found the bone marrow butter completely unnecessary, but the salsas and pepper were great additions.Dined with two others who ordered a couple sides. Honestly, skip the sides, we didnt care for any of them. The cold corn salad they offered for the table felt like them throwing us their scraps. That being said, the much talked about corn flatbreads were quite good. Didnt WOW us, but Id still order again and again. The meal was memorable and worth a visit, but Im not eager to get back. Feels like they are trying a bit too hard, but hopefully the sides and starters evolve with the restaurant. Go for the steak and corn flatbread, save the rest for a future visit if you like what you tasted.
Price is expensive but you can share the plate with your friends. I ordered seafood platter. It comes with oyster, salmon crudo and snow crab. I ended it with Niagara Riesling. Refreshing!
Incredible, fire grilled food.
Me and my girlfriend ordered the PC restaurant meal kit for Kojin. We ordered the Momofuku Kōjin Hawaiian Beef Ribs and Sesame Rice Kit. It was straight forward to prepare and tasted amazing!
Unique dining experience filled with culinary surprises. Highly recommended for a gourmet dinner and an upscale dining experience.
Delicious food and good service
Our department went for a team dinner. We pre-selected some family-style dishes before we arrived. They were all delicious!
Just had an unusual dinner through take out. I’ve ordered a three dishes and ended up with an unusual result.Grilled Hawaiian beef ribs-over salted ribs, the marinade.. was it even a marinade? It tasted as if it were splashed on. I’m confused about what they were trying to achieve with some sort of yin yang of bland carrots and salty ribs???Mapo pork pan pizza.-I ordered this off the menu with the notion of it being good since it was labeled “popular”. Turns out this ended up tasting like some sort of home economics project that your kid got a participation award for. Why the cilantro? There weren’t enough elements to compliment the cilantro let alone contrast it.Spicy fries with the big Kahuna mayo-The best thing to come out of this meal.. it was as close to a divine intervention if there ever was one. Just name it royale with cheese.
My food photos from Kojin never include the flatbreads because we can literally never stop ourselves from pouncing on them and devouring them as soon as the plates hit the table. My favorite is the ham and cherry preserve flatbread. It sounds like an unusual combination but there’s something magical about the combination of pillowy soft corn bread, salty cured meat, and sweet and tart cherries. The steaks are always great - all the delicious flavours that you can only get from a wood fire grill. All the sides I’ve tried are good, but nothing to write home about. The exception, strangely, are the pickles that come with the whole roasted chicken — sweet and crunchy pickles that I wish I could buy by the jar-full.
Great food! Great ambience! The steak was amazing! Came back 2 weeks later and they didn’t have the same menu, however the food was still as outstanding!!
It is a high end restaurant in the heart of the Financial district of Toronto. Its actually a bit odd to reach the restaurant. Its on the 3rd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel. And to reach there, you have to walk through the noodle place on the lower level. And I think they have a separate entrance, which is not accessible from the hotel. They were kind to offer us a special drink (or soup???) before the meal. We forgot what it is but we were not a big fan. It tasted a bit sweet, a bit sour, and its lukewarm. The corn flatbread is absolutely delicious. Its a bit sweet and is chewy and stretchy. I found that it goes well with just butter. We ordered the ribeye and striploin in medium rare to share. They were cooked to perfection and its one of the best we have tried. The green pepper is really spicy, so beware. We were taking the food slow, having some wine, and chatting, and the meat went cold a bit. Not sure if there is a way to keep the temperature a bit longer. After all, with such a nicely cooked piece of meat, you would want to take your time to really enjoy it.Our server was very attentive and friendly. I wouldnt expect anything less from a restaurant like this one.The restaurant has a nice nice ambiance, with tall ceilings and windows looking at the office buildings. Downtown Toronto looks so peaceful and different at night.
Kimchi sausage is good
Great good great service meh ambience
Unreal meal.
Excellent food for the price. On top of that, each member of their staff is fantastic, highlighting specifically Rebecca Pettigrew for her continued level of service and knowledge as restaurant manager and sommelier.
I highly recommend pairing the ribeye with the Il Fauno wine. Amazing full-body Italian wine.
Went here the first day they opened back up from COVID and the staff was so incredibly kind and sweet. They were extremely respectful and super clean about everythingThe food was delicious, especially the grilled shrimp and truffle friesThank you for a lovely experience
One word amazing
Absolutely exceptional experience. The barman Danny delivered the best dining experience I have had in a long time. Extremely passionate about service and customer happiness. Cornbread is exceptional, food is amazing, cocktails incredible.I can’t think of a better restaurant in Toronto and is up there with the best globally
We loved sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen. Watching the staff work the fires was fun (although we sat a bit to the side so we werent roasted). We were lucky enough to be sitting in front of the chef, who is so clearly passionate about the food, and was a great leader to her team. The highlight - in addition to the amazing steak - was the cornbread with beef drippings and brie, and - oddly - the vegetable sides. We would go back in a heartbeat.
It was amazing. Must dining experience when in Toronto🍵🍽
Luv all the whiskey and scotch bottles at the top shelves behind the bar area.
5 star experience all around.Incredible dining experience with great staff, wonderful food, and an incredible view of the city.High recommended.Side note: Also very accommodating to any dietary restrictions.
Yeah it was excellent, get the strawberry shortcake for dessert, its so good
Atmosphere is bright and absolutely love the massive windows (although its a shame there isnt much of a view from them). Had a tasty lunch here. I had the burger and my colleague had the cod. I would recommend the burger, but be forewarned its quite messy - probably dont order this during a business lunch. Service was a bit slow, despite there only being a handful of tables.
We came to spend an evening for our anniversary. The experience from start to finish was phenomenal. Service is outstanding and the food is down right flavourful. All the meats ooze with juice and flavour. Daily sausage board is worth it, I was almost tempted to order two. We had the burger and the flat iron steak. Both were amazing tender and juicy and the broccoli that comes with the steak was out standing. We finished with the strawberry shortcake just because it was seasonal and it did not disappoint. Thank you guys for a great experience!
Best restaurant experience Ive had in a long time! Came here for a business supper and there was a predefined group menu with no vegetarian options. Staff went out of their way to make sure that I could eat something, even going as far as asking their restaurant downstairs to make me a bowl of ramen noodles. Kudos to the staff! You guys were awesome!
The food is great. But the experience is even better. We ate at the bar and our barman was simply perfect. And all the staff was also very careful.
Sausage board was great along with the ribeye. Really enjoyed the ambience
Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. Chef table is a great spot especially when the incredibly passionate and engaging Jayden is on the floor. Our night was further elevated by our lovely server, Corry. Thank you to all for such a fun and delicious dining experience.
Very intimate space. We were a group of 6 and sat at a booth. Food was delicious but it is definitely focused on meat eaters. Also, not a place for you if you are on a budget. Seafood and sausage platters were amazing. Highly recommend if you are looking for a special treat.
Love Kojin! Amazing food and drinks. Top notch service. Ambiance is great. Good for special occasions or for a date night.
Everything from food to service was great. However my mistake was choosing their Valentines day menu... For $110 per person I expected At least two entrees. Received single items of their menu that would total approx. $165 ordered individually... Better off ordering normal a la carte than Prix fixe. Overrated & Priced.
Ordered the Hawaiian pizza on ubereats, how could you mess up a Hawaiian pizza so badly, why would you put Japanese mayo (qewpie sauce) on a pizza it was disgusting...
My wife and a few friends brought me here for my Birthday. To start inspite of my friends enjoyment watching me squirm while people sing happy Birthday the staff respected my ask not to do that, which I greatly appreciated. The food was incredible. Knowing the owners skill in deciphering ways to pair foods that dont belong together successfully I was still hesitant. I was pleasantly impressed by the unique and unexpected effects my palate experienced. From the basic appetizers to the custom cocktails I was reminded to trust those that have earned it. Going for a steak dinner and the steak not ending up being the star of the experience is a unique joy seldom executed. Id rate it seven stars out of five if possible. Thank you.
Came for dinner and the entire staff, from the moment we walked in the door, was absolutely phenomenal. Big thanks to our server Amanda!! The menu is not my favorite but what’s on it is done well and the quality of service is impeccable. Thank you for a wonderful meal :)
Great burger, salad and corn bread. Steak lunch was a little undercooked. Great service. Definitely will go back again.
Rounding up to a 4/5. Food was very good (5/5) but the service was pretty bad (2/5). Not knowing how much to order we looked to the waiter to provide guidance. Looking back it was clear for our party size we had over-ordered. For a party of 5 people we ordered two ducks, the sausage plate, and many appetizers. We asked the server if we had enough or too much and he suggested we also get a steak to share, so we did. Our server also failed to mention important components of the dishes we ordered such as the soup that comes with the duck dish. By the time that came out at the end it surprised us and disappointed us at the same time because we were so full we couldnt even try the dish and it looked good. Additionally, there was no pacing of dishes either as each course came out almost at the same time. We got appetizers and mains and sides all together. It was clear our server fired everything nearly all at once. Thus, we had no room on our table and dishes were getting cold because we couldnt get to everything in time. It is a shame the service wasnt better because that is the only thing holding this place back from being a 5/5.
Visited Kojin with my Creative Director for dinner before heading to the Princess of Wales theatre to watch the Lion King. The restaurant comprises of two floors, the lower level for a casual night out and the 3rd floor with a wonderful view of University Ave. I ordered the steak which was flavourful and chewy. The staff was extremely prompt and agile. Overall I had a pleasant dining experience and will recommend this restaurant.
If you read this David Cheng..Stephanie your manager is a gold standard manager!
I dont know what to say. The food was so good that I am uncomfortable eating regular food again. The burger was god-tier - cooked to a perfect medium and it was so juicy and flavourful. The onion rings that came with them were seasoned very well and super crispy. The mashed potato (side called Titas mash) was amazing. The finale was this apple crisp with cheddar and vanilla ice cream - what?! - Words cannot describe how I felt. Every spoonful was AMAZING. The staff were super friendly and extremely attentive to everyone. The environment was really nice and intimate. The music wasnt too loud.
Wife says its the best steak shes ever had. Truly delicious food. Outstanding service. Great views. Appetizer menu was also delicious. Wine list was nicely curated, although even for a nice restaurant the mark-up was excessive. The food was worth the prices. I would highly recommend it. Reservations are a must.
Has a wonderful time. The food was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was bright and cheery. Our Waiter was very pleasant and took very good care of us.
Amazing food~~! Got the cornbread with spiced honey butter, sausage platter, and blueberry cobbler. So delicious 🤗 Great place to go for a special occasion. Staff is very attentive and friendly - definitely goes above and beyond!
My favourite restaurant. Sad that they got rid of the pita honey cheese flatbread... Love sitting at the chefs counter where they constantly get you to sample their food. Apparently the chefs go on farm trips to pick the fruits and veggies fresh!
The restaurant is a great spot for a date or work dinner. Service was very good and staff was very friendly. The food was great! Scalloped potatoes were delicious. If you like seafood I recommend the platter it was a great mix of oysters, crab legs, shrimps. Brussels sprouts were on point. For the main course the T-bone steak was cooked to perfection and the bone marrow butter was the icing on the cake. Will definitely be going back
Now my 2nd time there. They do nothing particularly well. But is completely overpriced for what you get. Big miss. Do not recommend. Can get way better bang for your buck elsewhere.
So my friend and I really enjoyed this modern steak house. Started with oysters, small but tasty. We had croquettes which were the best I have ever had and that includes SAN Sebastian. Crispy and creamy. We decided to share a 30oz flank steak. Served with a fresh salsa and rice it was delicious. So were the crispy Brussels sprouts! And to top it off a decadent chocolate soufflé! With a lovely bottle of Priorat it was a good night!
Cool atmosphere and great service. Good wine selection and delicious food. Steak was a little underwhelming for the price but overall good experience.
Overall, not impressed given the reputation of the restaurant. Strange entrance (walking through the prep area for the first floor), seafood platter was mid-grade at best (mushy crab and shrimp), had to ask for sauce for the dozen oysters, asparagus needed salt ... now, the Titis mash potatoes were some of the best Ive had anywhere. Not likely to go back given the quality vs cost. Cornflake cookie from Milk Bar was the best part of the meal.
