Its basically a performing arts theatre, though which hangs the veil of International Film Festival of Kerala and becomes a Film Theatre.It houses nearly 1000 seats.Pretty good leg space is available in between seats.The seats are comforting.I would choose the lower area rather than choosing the Balcony. I found it more appealing/enjoyable.Just choose a seat which is to the middle part of the theatre and have a great show.Cheerio

Tagore theatre is a large complex that has the biggest performance hall in Trivandrum. It has a great balcony space also for viewing the main hall of the campus. Major school and college events are organised within the campus.

I recently visited tagore for the 23rd IFFK 2018.For watching movies.Its not a ordinary movie theater. Which is conducting film festivals and special scrrening and plays and more. Tagore was the main Theater and festaivals offices . Delegate cell was there. Open forum cinducted there. The main stage was set on the Tagore. And it had huge ambience to hang out with friends. We were there evrythime aprt from watching movies. Unlile us everybody was there. Theres somthing yhere to attched to you.

Tagore Centenary Hall, popularly known as Tagore Theatre, is a quintessential name while you talk about Thiruvananthapuram. As the name depicts, it is named after Great Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. While India celebrated the 150th birth day of Shri Rabindra Nath Tagore, Govt of India has taken the account of all the installations in the name of Shri rabindra Nath Tagore, and sanctioned fund to renovate all these. But as all know the time delay normally occurs in availing the fund granted by central govt..!! So Govt Kerala has spent almost 23 crore rupees. It is one among the two theatres founded in 1965(one at Trivandrum and one at Calicut) and owned by the State Government, Public Relations Department (now with Directorate of Tourism through District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC)) hosts many cultural events like plays, film shows, dance and music performances and seminars. The theatre, located in about six acres of highly priced land, can seat about 1200 people.

Such a fantastic place to be if you are a movie lover. The theatre has 850+ seats and is probably the biggest in Trivandrum as far as I know.

Kerala s 1000 Seated dolby atmos theatre .... ready to open on international film festival

Tagore Centenary Hall in Vazhuthacaud Trivandrum is a land mark in the city. The Hall was one of the best auditoriums in the city where many functions like Award Functions, Seminars, Film Festivals, Concerts etc were being regularly held. Situated in a convenient location of the city with sufficient parking facility and seating capacity this used to be a preferred location for all important functions, until a decision to refurbish, renovate and restructure the Building was taken about a couple of years back. Since then, the auditorium is closed to public except for the ground where at times parking is allowed for vehicles coming to the two social clubs nearby. The renovation is still in progress and one is not exactly sure as to when the centre will be reopened. But still this remains a land mark in the city and will regain its glory once it is reopend because of the ambience, excellent acoustics (hope these are maintained after renovation as well) and location.

The best place for enjoying the iffk

Its a good theatre well air conditionded not too cold not too hot perfect balance and has a fairly comfortable reclining seats with enough elevation for the people sitting in the back to watch the show

A good and huge place to conduct functioms shows dramas

I had been at Tagore theatre for the annual day clebration of Erena school. The hall is spacious and is well maintained.

Fabulous place to go. The seats are good and the capacity is a fabulous number of 850 seats. The air conditioning is great sometimes too cold. the balcony arrangement is however very disappointing. We cant see screen properly and looks as if it is downhill. First class area is far better.

Good Convention Centre and good for assembing 1500 persons in a time

Near to trivandrum club and easily notable from main road and has a very good parking space. The theatre is air conditioned well maintained after its renovation. The prestigious Surya Festival is hosted here .Lots of International events and various state government programs are also hosted here... Very spacious hall and spacious stage...

Nice makeover for the old complex. Fully air conditioned. Support staff (stage, electrical, light, sound) are supportive.The only cons are related to the government procedures.

Excellent theatre movie screenings (This is not a Movie Theatre) and performances. So much space for parking. Beautiful surroundings. Spacious and comfortable seating inside. Kudos to the Kerala I&PR Department for maintaining this place for so neatly. Keep it up.

It was hard to believe that it was not a private theatre. Very neat and clean premises. Decent parking and toilet facilities. Seating and sound system were above average. Overall one of the best places in trivandrum to watch a live theatrical performance.

It is a great place to host stage competition (drama etc) since it has a got a very big stage and enough space in the back stage also. It has also got amble parking space too.It should be properly maintained so as to maintain its charm.

Best for stage performances and cinema projection.Dolby Atmos 72 channel sound. Christie 2K projection.Very large parking area.

The renovated air conditioned theatre now provides good looks and the face lifted dias and seating arrangements have improved the ambience also. The Parking space may please be laid with garden bricks so as to avoid dusty atmosphere and surroundings.

I visited the theatre for the first time during the International Film Festival of Kerala and was blown away by its sheer size. I understand it was a massive auditorium that was converted into a theatre. It does have some drawbacks, but its central location and and ample car parking space makes it a huge hit for film lovers. I definitely recommend it.

Tagore is a government owned and operated theatre that hosts midst of the festivals in Trivandrum. Designed for over 600+ capacity with a balcony and normal seating area. The theatre was renovated recently to offer plush seating and comfortable space with a large centre stage. Toilet facilities are available indoors. A few bad things about this facility is that ancillary facilities like parking, toilets are not proportional to seating capacity, so any major event could create long queues. Located at the heart of the city, vazhuthacaud, accessibility is very good. Overall I would rate 4, because of the negligence towards making it a international quality arena and leaving it just as a mediocre theatre, if designed and maintained well, it could host top class international level conferences and delegations.

I went to Tagore theater premise for Olam 2020. It was a nice atmosphere there. Well done Team olam for that. The space is pretty big for organizing a fest. There were nearly 100+ stalls and other events organised there. The theater itself can accommodate a large group. Good parking facility and well accessible as it is right in the city.

Good place with lots of trees in the compound, therefore does not feel much heat. The theatre is used for screening films as well as hosting other functions. The theater has sufficient seating capacity and is maintained well.

Tagore theatre is the one of the oldest cultural centre for TrivandrumThis is a great theater for concerts or the film festival. Its the most modern, comfortable, clean, and has decent restrooms. Just heard a fabulous free concert there. If you have a chance for a good program, dont miss it.

Joy of performing arts

There is an amazing effort from the government to make such a nice place. This theatre is good for drama performance and movie screenings. This is not a usual theatre for daily movie screening. We went there at the time of IFFK 2018. Nice sound system and projector quality. Ample parking space and located in the heart of the city.

It is situated in a large compund with ample parking facility and space for custom stores.

Best suitable for major and big play productions, full piece orchestra and film screenings. Rent is reasonable considering the facilities and audience capacity. Enough space for parking.
