Parking is available inside and thus please do not park on the road. Parking charges are free. Please buy your ticket end then go the first auditorium to get to know about life around creeks. First you can watch a short video in the AV room. Then you can walk around the exhibition of wildlife across 2 rooms. Kids will enjoy it thoroughly as there are speakers which you can tap to hear the voice of various kinds of birds and animals. After that walk through the bamboo bridge to the view point and enjoy the sunset if you can time it accordingly. It’s a wonderful place to take pictures and spend a quite moment in the midst of nature. Pleas keep your eyes and ears open as you walk to and fro the Bamboo bridge as you might be able to spot a lot of birds in their natural habitat. Please note you can also take a boat ride inside the creek to spot large number of Flamingoes. But it need to booked well in advance. Must visit if you have children and want them to know about nature
I went to visit this place on 31 Jan 2021Entry fees is 50 rs , including museum and all other visiting places inside sanctuary. You will be able to see lot of flamingos here.It is recommend to visit during morning hours. If possible carry camera or binocularsAlso note before visiting this place check high and low tide timings, during high tide you will not be able to see flamingos nearby, hence check for low tide timings and plan accordingly.
Thane creek sanctuary is a one-stop information centre about the creek forests including mangroves and the winter birds. Theres a boat ride that lets you have a close look at the flamingos and a panoramic view of the wonderous mangroves of the creek. The nature interpretation centre is a sneakpeak at the marine wealth of our city. It makes for an interesting visit with advance technology to help you interact with the information displayed.Perfect for a weekend trip with family when all of you like to spend time in nature and love your city!
One hour boat ride.Excellent service, and clean property.Prior booking recommended or else buy tickets there if you are lucky. Lots of flamingoes to see and other birds. The guide in specs was good.Carry proffesional Camera if you like to.Kids below 5 years free entry. One hour is boat ride time.December to max feb is best time to watch.Nature and birds are so innocent and beautiful...Entry fee is 396 per person.Free car parking available.Carry water bottle. And wear sunglasses.Enjoy your trip.
Boardwalk is best spot for closer look of flamingoes.to watch the sunrise bhandup pumping station side of the sanctuary on the opposite Bank of the backwaters is the best spot.Reach there before sunrise.Important tip: parking ticket of hundred rupees per four wheeler and entry ticket of 50 rupees per person which you pay on this either side remains valid on the other side too.i.e. main campus of biodiversity park. So please retain the tickets and you wont need to pay again.Ideally it is best to visit the bhandup pumping station site at sunrise and then come to the main biodiversity park which opens at 9 am.In between you can have good breakfast in airoli side. Thus you will spend a wonderful morning. Its all very beautiful and surreal.
We went in first week of February and it was an absolute treat. We took the smaller boat (one hour ride) and we were enough (7 pax) to have it to ourselves. There is a larger boat (20 odd pax) where the per head cost is less. The boat ride allowed us to see several large groups of greater and lesser flamingoes as well as many local and migratory birds. The highlight was an osprey. The boat was managed by Shahid and he was knowledgeable about the various bird life we saw.The sanctuary grounds include exhibits like a blue whale skeleton and a state of the art conservation centre with interesting audio visual and auditory exhibits about Mumbai’s marine life!A souvenir shop and clean toilets too!Go!
Great place, still a hidden gem in Mumbai. At the end of Airoli bridge on Airoli side. Best viewed through a boat ride. But the view from the end of the boardwalk (wooden bamboo walkway also called सांकव) was great even at afternoon. Children enjoy, if taught to understand the basics of bird watching. Do carry good quality binoculars. The museum and mangrove history and information centre are worth a visit and interactive, so fun for kids and adults alike. Please DO NOT litter the area with plastic bags food packets and empty plastic bottles. DO NOT feed the birds with bird feed or chana etc. Their diet is different from ours. Our mangroves protect Mumbai from great calamities and it is our responsibility to do our bit. You do not want a flamingo to die from poisoning or plastic choking. One star less because the facility is still getting constructed and the online system to reserve boat rides doesnt work. You have to go there or book through other NGOs like coastwise.
Its not in thane actually its in Airoli sector 19.Entry fees will be 50 rs per adult person which is totally worth. It has museum and gardens to explore with your kids. I went with my daughter on Christmas amd it was a wonderful experience.Government should advertise this place to make it popular. They can develop it also with other facilities like aquarium etc.
The Flamingo Safari has not yet started… I visited in July 2021 but they said it’s closed due to Covid restrictions.. Also, the phone number mentioned on Google is switched off.. Try to confirm if the place is operational before going.P.s. Ignore the star ratings, didn’t intend to spoil the overall ratings..
If you like nature trails and safaris, this is the best thing specially if you are in Mumbai. The government department has organised everything so professionally, it is a delight. Seeing the Flamingos at such close quarters, watching them soaring into the sky in beat lines undulating overhead, skimming the surface of the water... Its truly awesome.Heavenly experience.Dont miss it
This place is in Airoli, gives information and bookings for the Flamingo Safari by boats. Visited this place in Feb 2020 and is very clean and beautifully maintained. Nearest landmark would be DAV school, Airoli
Visit while weather is good. a small museum and a lake with flamingos
Nature lovers paradise close to city was not fully explored. The information center, museum, mangroves, boating point and the bird watching point through bamboo brige were an experience. The timing was 9am to 6pm and the sunset views were not possible. Since the flamingos were seasonal it is better to check the arrival. The views through boats were not possible on regular basis. We could watch flamingoes very far and it was a wonderful experience. The Creek on the side of Airoli bridge and the wet areas were attractions for the nature lovers. The Center gave information of the bio diversity and there was a museum. The preservation of mangroves and keeping natural environment is the need of the hour against natural calamities.
Worth every rupee. Must watch place for all nature lovers. Educative informative as well as pleasant place. But the sign boards put up by NMMC shouldve renovated immediately as the present ones are faded
Beautiful place!Currently acces is blocked and flamingos are avoiding the area due to Trans Harbor Link construction.I pray that the natural beauty of the place is preserved and made accessible for all to enjoy.
A great place for birds lover & children. Although the koi pond was empty but overall it is a great way to promote information about wildlife.
Nice place to take kids. The interpretation Centre and audio visual Centre is brand new and engaging. They charge a entry fee of Rs. 50 per adultValuable information provided about the ecology through engaging media. They also take you on boat rides to view birds from close distance. The same is however going to start from 18 January.A must visit place.
Very nice experience...Coul see Flamingos, sea gulls and few other birds..Booking hv to be done few months prior...good experience overall.. especially for kids
Its good to visit...but keep Cash with you as these people dont have any online payment option even during COVID-19 Era. Absolutely no chance for payment using any app or card or upi.
Best time to visit is morning so you can spend entire day .. carry your food no canteen service is available
For Nature lovers. There is a bamboo bridge which takes you through the mangroves towards the Creek.Flamingos are far away, need binaculors.Boat rides are there early mornings, check with the personnel.Visitors museum is good with info.Appreciate the Goodwork done by Personnel of Flamingo Sancturies.
Any time is a good time for a visit. Be one with nature. Good for a short trek.
Last Saturday 02.01.21, we visited and enjoyed the safari. We could see almost 1000 flamingos when surfing by boat. The timings of safari change depending upon high tide timings. Small museum is also there on sea life.
The early morning ride was amazing and it covered each and every bird which was in our sight...The guide was also good explained each and every bidrs where about and qualities, the migration period they visit india to.Over all it was a feast to our eyes to see such beautiful birds and specially the beautiful flamingos....wow pure beauty in birds🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩😍😍😍Tip: A binoculars is a must to view closer look.

Thane Creek is an inlet in the shoreline of the Arabian Sea that isolates the city of Mumbai from the Indian mainland. It comprises the area between Mumbra Retibunder and the Mankhurd-Vashi Bridge. The creek is divided into two parts. The first part lies between Ghodbunder and Thane, a section from where the Ulhas river flows from the north of Mumbai Island to meet the Arabian Sea on the west. The second part of the waterway lies between the city of Thane and the Arabian Sea at Trombay / Uran, before the Gharapuri islands.Thane Creek was formed due to a seismic fault lying below it which runs from Uran to Thane. In antiquity, Thane served as the capital of the Sheelahar kingdom, and was a large functional port for trade with the Arabian peninsula, along with other ports, such as Ghodbunder and Nagla Bunder. The region of the Thane Creek has been recognized as an Important Bird Area by the Bombay Natural History Society, as it is home to various avian species. In particular, it harbors populations of flamingos and several other migratory and wading birds. The Maharashtra Government has declared the area along the western bank of the Thane Creek as the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary. It will be Maharashtras second marine sanctuary after Malvan sanctuary. The sanctuary was notified in Govt. Gazette on 6 August 2015. During the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide lockdown was seen as a result the pollution levels were drastically reduced and so as a result in the mid of December 2020, Dolphins were spotted here. The total area of the TCF sanctuary is 1,690 hectares (896 hectares of mangrove forests and 794 hectares of a water body).
Was a nearby wonderful trip. The boatman was nice and eagerly guided with the details.
Super experience. Totally unexpected to find something so good within the city limits
Its a Bird Lovers heaven. Thank you Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for your best services.Pl.carry your Cameras with multiple lenses to get the best photographs.
The sanctuary is around 23 kms from my place and is situated near Bhandup Pumping Station. Entry fee is Rs. 50 per head. No camera fees. Cycle, bikes and cars are allowed inside, cycles are free, bike Rs. 50, car Rs. 100. Time required for sight seeing is around 1 hour 30 mins.

Excellent place for nature loversTime to go early and spend morning time. If you want to boat ride then plan in advance.
Its very amazing secluded from the city.. nice experience..
Places like this in Mumbai are heaven for photographers. All you need to know is tide(low/high) timings.
Best place to see flamingos in thier full grandeur
Hello I would like to visit this place on sunday...can anyone guide about how to do prior booking....bcos the phone number shared is not working
Thane Creek is one of the least explored destination by birdwatchers which has now proven to be potential place for birding. It is also recognized as an “Important Bird Area” and is declared as “Flamingo Sanctuary” recently by Maharashtra government. It has great biodiversity and shows presence of both Greater as well as Lesser Flamingos along with bird like migratory ducks, Ibis, Eurasian curlew, birds of Prey like Marsh harrier, Osprey, Falcons and many waders.
Good educative trip. Qualified people leading the events. The boat ride was breath takingPlease dont miss this natural habitat of so many creatures in the heart of MumbaiTotal value for money.. so much being done to spread awareness about protecting mangroves.
No one picked up my calls.
This is a fake addresss of some travel agency in mulund
Very cool place.
Its a beautiful view from the Airoli bridge as the boat takes off through a mix ocean and its greenery. Lucky days have birds on the beginning islands - I was told. Some whiskered terns made noise and flew and slender billed gulls gave competition. A pink sapphire lace appeared over the creek which on approach was a turbulent megaphonic performance of thousands of greater and lesser flamingos running on water, to take off in a frenzy and form circles of pink in the sky above. Some fished and floated calmly. Visit to know more...
Check the tide , on low tide days the birds are tooo inside the sea, go on high tide days .
It was my first experience watching flamingo up close. A well spent half day event with unforgettable memories. The tour guides were excellent and had complete knowledge of birding. This is a very good half day event to be experienced near Mumbai.
Must visit check on the timings for rides for watching flamingos 🦩
Beautiful experience with family 😊

Very neat place, supportive and friendly staff. Nice place to spend a few hours
Awesome place to experience
Very beautiful place
One of the Best Experience near Mumbai. We saw Flamingos up-close & it was beautiful stretch pf Pink all through out the Creek. Thanks for wonderful arrangements.
Very popular place. It is difficult to get bookings on weekends. You must call the reception before heading towards it to avoid last minute disappointment.Just 2 ferries as per the hightide schedule.
Unpolluted air and water.
Beware, sometimes during public holidays they dont allow the entry inside so ensure they are working before visiting. Too many plants and aquatic animals to see. Best is pink pink flamingo
Went in early March with Mumbai Travellers. Couple of thousand flamingos. The boats used for the safari are new and very well maintained. The overall safari was also very well organized.
Very bad service..they dont have professional experience...not even bother to give service..it better to go somewhere else rather than going with them... worst experience
Its a fantabulous experience to watch flamingos at Thane Creek n the ferry service is also good.
Beautiful place .. surrounded by Greenery of Mangrove forest... I just love to see Femingo Groups with Boat Ride... 👍♥️
A good place to visit
Its a hidden gem and definitely worth a visit especially during the flamingo season.
Mind blowing view of flamingoes ! Must go for every bird lover
Nice location. This time of the year you get to see not just flamingoes but also many more migrated birds. It a visual treat to watch birds flying together. Kids enjoyed the ride throughly.
Its great for a day trip with kids to educate them about flamingos and mangroves
Thousand of flemingoes come here during winter. Perfect place to see them in their natural habitat
Had a great time learning how to spot and identify birds at the Sanctuary. Spotted and got to know the difference between greater and lesser flamingo, grey heron, pied avocet, stint etc. The after safari documentary gave a whole idea of the creek and survival of many other species at the creek
Best experience.. Thank you Mumbai Travellers for arranging an awesome tour. Highly recommended.
Place is under development.. As if now some birds where there and in Jan u will able to see flimingo bird 🐦..
Had a memorable time with Mumbai Travellers during Thane Creek flamingo visit on 09Mar2019, where I could gain good knowledge on birding from the experienced guides. Thank you Mumbai Travellers for arranging a safe and pleasant boat ride..
Beautiful placeee
Good place to view flamingos.cobtact centre for marine diversity to book boat rides to see flamingos and other birds up close. Easily accessible: Just off the Mulund airoli bridge
So much misleading on map, Airoli is not at all mentioned.1) The location is accessible from Airoli, but name suggestion say Thane.2) Plus code showing Mulund East.
Excellent sighting of flamingoes n other wader birds! Naturalist Prathamesh very good n shared lot of info about birds!
A very well organised ride. Wonderful host and guide
