One of the good places for authentic and delicious south indian food. I have been to their multiple outlets across mumbai. They serve good dosa, medu wada, podi idli, sheera, upma etc. I tried South Indian thali and Punjabi thali for the first time at thane branch and it was above my expectations, delicious and good quantity at a good price.
ThambbiRecently visited this place to try out some South Indian delicacies. Trust me this is a hidden gem in thane for finger licking South Indian cuisine.Huge place with lovely ambience & hygeinic atmosphere. The dining hall can accommodate 40-45 people at a time. Best place to visit with your family or loved ones.We ordered-1) Dilkhush dosa - Masala Dosa filled with veggies & lot of cheese.Again garnished with shredded cheese.Loved the texture 🤤2) Mini Butter Podi Idli- Mini steamed idlis roasted in yummy podi masala & loaded with lot of amul butter. This was totally droolworthy 💯3) Filter coffee- Does this even need introduction??South famous authentic coffee served in their unique way .Food quality was above all & quantity was hefty. Every dish had unique flavours & perfectly prepared.Mr. Kumar, the manager of this place was so humble and attentive person. He helped us in ordering food. All other staff was polite & offered us quick service.Overall a must try place if you are in thane for authentic south indian cuisine!
Thambbi (Meaning - Brother), a restaurant line serving South Indian delicacies. One usually visits south indian food giants in Matunga to cater a craving for South Indian cuisine, but Anna assures you a similar experience here! This restaurant line is 12-13 years old.Locations - Thane (Panchpakhadi), Chandivali, Mulund, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Marol, Kurla, Santacruz, Juhu, etc.We visited the one in Thane. This place serves authentic South Indian!Consider you are very busy in your work schedule and wish to finish off your lunch pretty quick, this is one place you can prefer. Why? Coz they serve your order in lightning speed.Anna ordered Dilkush Dosa and Butter Podi Mini Idli, and they were served in merely 1-2 minutes.Dilkush Dosa contains a Veggie curry stuffing. The pieces of Dosa were coated with cheese and coriander leaves.Butter Podi Idli is the best seller, which contains mini Idlis coated with Podi and drizzled with Butter. Its buttery taste is not to be missed! The side dish they offered included - Sambar (authentic, not so sweet), Coconut Chutney, and a spicy red chutney. The service is pretty quick, the place is pocket friendly, and the quantity is sufficient.Lastly, Anna did not miss the authentic Filter Coffee! 💕P.s. Do not miss Podi, a spice mix which we talked about in our previous posts!
Thambbi having over 12 outlets in Mumbai, we decided to visit the one situated in Panchpakhadi, Thane. The ambience is kept simple yet cosy & v hygienic. They serve idli, wada, uttappam, dosa, pav bhaji, plated meals, desserts & beverages...We had,• mini idli butter podi• dal khichdi• filter coffee• rava mysore masala dosa..Idli podi, a south indian breakfast made by tossing idlis in ghee & a mixture of ground dry spices, we liked it. The dal khichdi being the ultimate comfort food & the filter coffee is something you have to try when you visit this place. Unfortunately, we found the mysore masala quite dry & not as per our expectations...The staff is v kind & welcoming. The service is v quick. The place is open from 8am-11pm. The avg cost for two people would be around ₹350 approx...Plan your breakfast @thambbi
The food was really great. But what disappointed me a lot was.I come there to eat South Indian thali. But it was not available. And hence they told me to take punjabi thali. The food taste was good. But still the South Indian restaurant must a South Indian thali...
My all time favourite place to have south indian delicacies but the filter coffee tops the list.
Restaurant was ok. There is no main course. Only snacks type food - Wada sambar, Dosa, chole bhature, Pavbhaji etc
This is the place to go to when you’re craving some good South Indian food. Be it coffee or idlis, this place won’t disappoint you at all. They have some amazing variety of Dosas to try out. What we ordered -Deluxe ThaliThis was so filling. Quite filling and delicious.Mini Butter Idli PodiThis is by far my favourite dish whenever I visit here. The podi tastes just fabulous and butter on top makes it more yummy.Cold coffeeIt was good though not the best.Filter coffeeLoved the strong aroma of coffee, not too sweet this is just perfect.
South Indian Food😋💎💥If you love south Indian Food then you should surely visit Thambbi. It is located in Panch Pakhadi, Thane. They have many varieties of dishes of South Indian Food and North Indian food as well. The staff is extremely polite. One can order food for home delivery or you can dine in. They have many special dishes too. The ambience of the restaurent is pretty cool too. Must haves include Butter Andhara Masala Dosa, Cheese Tomato Uttapam, Podi Idli, Rava Dosa, Banana Bhajji, Fried Idli, Neer Dosa, Rassam Vada, Podi Dosa, Neer Dosa, Dal Vada and Sabudana Vada. Finally you can end your meal with Sheera to statiate your sweet tooth. Also the Filter Coffee is a must try after a heavy South Indian meal. All in all would recommend this place 👍Happy Eating:)
Tasty food. Though the name is Thambi, taste is more like Udupi.
Very Expensive with good taste. Welcomed with quirky name Thambi. The ambiance was neat and dishes are hot when served. The only problem with the menu was, all the tiffin items like idly, dosa, uttappam are extremely expensive. I ordered a single thattu podi idly which was 82 rs. I felt the sambar rice more worth to the price than the idly and dosas.
Craving some authentic south indian breakfast and some filter coffee? Thambi is the place to visit. Food here is very tasty and healthy. Their red chutney is very good. Also they provide different food options other than South Indian too.
This place has my heart when it comes to South Indian food. Amazing food. Clear atmosphere, quality is nice. Must visit.
Food was good.. Please work on your beverages.
The food is tasty. Not expensive. The ambience is sweet and warm.
AMAZING PLACE. VARIETY OF DOSAS. VERY TASTY. JUST AMAZING.
A great food joint to have different dosas... Quick service and great food
Been to restaurant to dine in for the first time since lockdown. Restaurant is fairly located at prime location & easily accessible. However, one may have to struggle to find parking.Had mix Idli & Wada followed by Tea. Taste is good but not what I expected (may be due to this long break of lockdown)
Visited this place today with great expectations for authentic south indian food but it turned out to be so-so. It is not the worst food that I have ever eaten, but I would need lot of motivation to go back.Ambience was good, basic furniture, clean & hygienic. Service was ok - they did not remember and did not care to serve the rasam we had ordered. Sambar had nothing special to talk about. Chutney was served in such a tiny container ...Filter coffee was very milky and I am not sure it came out of the decoction gadget. Not expected from a place that prides itself for its authentic south indian cuisine.Unfortunately I cant give more than 2 stars.
Awesome Medu wadas and uttapams! Also try their tatte idli with podi.
Food was okay . Did not taste as freshly cooked.Portion size are OK
Perfect south Indian food joint in Thane. Good to try lemon rice, idli sambar, dosa and coffee.
Amazing spot for South Indian Breakfast, quick service, reasonable price, yummy food!
Good ambience great place to sit and relax nice food, bit pricey but good place.
Its one of the finest place for south indian food in thane must try filter coffee
Love the taste of typical South Indian food served here. This place gives the taste of South India.
Thambi offers you authentic south indian dishes. Also they have Punjabi thali as an option. Located near to three petrol pump.Parking will be not an issue as there is sufficient parking space available.Due to covid restriction guidelines the restaurant is kept open till 4.pm
Filter coffee, Andhra style Masala Dosa.... Must try
We ordered dosa and idli, Sambhar was on sweeter side chatni was good.
Good for a quick bite. One of the good breakfast place is Thane.
Overated, filter coffee was pathetic, many not so known places serve better filter coffee. MYSORE Dosa came from too was plane and blunt. Was disappointed
One of the best south Indian restaurant in the town located in the heart of Panchpakhadi, Thane West.
Very good place for authentic, south indian breakfast, try the small idli podi, rawa masala dosa, dahi Wada and end up with filter coffee.
Very authentic and well prepared South Indian dishes, good delivery service and hygienic
Food is delicious... 100% south indian

After trying a lot south indian dishes in Matunga wanted something to open in Thane. So my wait is over Thambi is the place which I can now have my favourite south indian dishes. The ambience is simply and classy. Coming to the food we went for breakfast time so they had various combo in the menu.1) Dosa Combo: The combo includes sada dosa , upma and filter coffee which was just perfect I love this combo and the taste was just outstanding.2) Butter idli podi : One of the best idli podi I ever had filled with butter and podi on idli yet so delicious must have.3) Upma : As one the combo upma which I had was so delicious so wanted to have another upma so I like the most4) Neer podi dosa : Wanted to try some different dosa so order neer podi dosa which to my suprise was very nice and it was very crispy as well and the dosa was also huge.5) Butter Podi Uttatpaa: The butter and podi on the top which was so delicious that cant without sambhar n chutney which can eat it.Best place to have south indian dishes in ThaneMy Insta Food Page : @foodiesinceborn929.5 k followers
The food is awesome, If youre searching for south indian dishes then its a good place to try. But the ambience was not that good, the hotel was little bit littery. Not than cleanliness. We had :▶Butter Onion Uttappa▶Medu Wada
Idli podi butter is a must try for idli lovers.
One of my Son’s Fav Resturant…
Do try podi idli
Very nice experience good ine
Not so sure about welcoming this outlet in thane! The outlet I tried in matunga is much much better in terms of taste.Though this place is pocket-friendly,giving you warm ambience & minimal interiors.I would recommend not to try the new north indian menu,it is slightly disappointing, stick to south indian food much worth your penny!South Indian recommendations-Filter coffee,Paper dosa,Mini Idli podi, flavoured sheera.
Great Authentic South Indian taste. Loved the sambhar.
Nostalgic and undoubtedly first choice of brunches with friends!
Today i have order veg paneer pulav, it was very stinky... How they are proving stinky food in this pandamic situation... They dont care about customer...
Very good place for breakfast. I ordered 2 masala dosa. I had great breakfast here. I will recommend you to give it a try. Thanks 👍
Wada sambar was stale.
South Indian food with a twist...Great taste!!
Food is good but unreasonably expensive. tomato chutney doesnt have authentic taste
Its a good place for snakes
Very nice for south Indian dishes
Delicious taste , proper authentic ❤️
Good service and good ambience.
Good South Indian restaurant in Thane.
*Rating-3/5*In picture- 1. Schezwan Idli 2. SheeraA cool place to hangout with your family and friends. A filter coffee having the taste of SouthIndia can refresh you. One the best South-Indian restaurants in Thane located in PanchPakhadi. A good place to have your breakfast. A decent place for all South-Indian Food lovers. A must try restaurant ❤️
Yummy Food. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Good service.
Cockroach in Food!!!...I am a regular customer of Thambbi (Panchpakhadi branch) but recently i had a very bad experience when I visited the restaurant on 5-Dec-2019. That day I was fasting and decided to have dinner with my friend in Thambbi. After consuming almost 90% of the food, I noticed a dead cockroach in my food. The cashier said sorry and gave excuses that the kitchen is centralized and he is not aware of it. He didnt charge me for the food. But the question is how are they manages to get licenses for such non-hygienic kitchens and the restaurant management doesnt discharge their responsibility of maintaining food quality and hygiene after obtaining the licenses. The safety and quality of the food served in the restaurants and eateries are governed under the FSSAI. It operates under the Health Ministry and is required to regulate and monitor the manufacture, processing, distribution, sale, and import of food to ensure its safety for human consumption.
Delicious South Indian Food!
Substandard food quality. Even the basics are wrong. The Neer Dosa and Rava Dosa tastes the same, looks same.. Very disappointed. The Dal Vada had earlier batter of Medu Vada mixed in. Mass ignorance on getting the taste right.
Great Food, decent pricing, space constraint.
Too costly for what they serve. Bitter servers, bitter food. Could have been so better. Tastebuds dead guys have given good ratings for this thambi. And the servers at this hotel are owners so theyll always try to throw food at your face. Beware...!
My favourite place for a single person dinner. They have good general south indian options but also have nice meal options that are under or around ₹150 (that includes roti/puri, rice, two sabji, dahi, sweet, sambar, dal, papadam etc.). Service is very quick and place overall is clean. Try their banana pakodas - I love it. Filter coffee is authentic and in general good place to satisfy your craving for South Indian food.
Nothing south indian about this place. We ordered a thali and the rasam was just plain water, the pickles were half done, the dal like railway food. Do not visit this place under the assumption that ur visiting a south indian joint. Try Swamys instead that is far tastier
Nice south indian food
It was really a superb place to have great foods. This was my second time to enjoy breakfast there.
Fantastic Udupi Dishes... Morning breakfast is amazing
Food is very tasty and very well priced. We had 3 dishes: Rava Masala dosa, Mysore Masala dosa and Vada Sambhar. Vada could have been a bit better but the dosas were awesome! Finally, ended the meal with filter coffee.!!! DONT MISS OR SKIP THE FILTER COFFEE.Be prepared to wait a few minutes during evening and dinner times.
Best place for South Indian dishes
The name South Indian is misleading. Only North Indian dishes on the menu. Having no option we ordered the Punjabi Thali. Dal was ordinary tur dal with curry leaves. 🤣🤣 Two similar tasting gravy dishes - 3 tiny pieces of paneer in one and one tablespoon green peas in the other. Buttermilk was as diluted as water. One marble size gulab jamun. The only Punjabi item were 2 tandoori rotis. Price - reasonable and clean setting.
Place is small but clean and seems authentic to general public. Parking during peak hours is an issue. Car owners beware good once ina while for a change . Meal for 3 about 500
Good place for decent veg meals. Punjabi as well as S Indian. For some reasons not known the S India thali is not available on Swiggy/Zomato. Hope the concerned look in to this.
Very good test...but small space so sometimes you will have to wait till table gets empty.. I would recommend to have onion uttapam once..
Amazing Butter Podi Ildi. I have tasted the same dish in other outlet but this outlets taste is the best.
Need to be prompt. Improve sambhar quality, include getti chutney, include banana leaf.
Its a very nice place to enjoy the best of the south Indian dishes. Excellent quality and service.
Very tasty South Indian Food. We had Pizza Dosa, Dilkhush Dosa, Schezwan Dosa and Mysore Rava Masala Dosa along with Dahi Wada and Filter Coffee. Amazing taste and above all it is very value for money.
