Wonderful service and great food. The price point is justified by the service and selection of quality and well-marinated meats. We ordered the pork BBQ which came with a delicious selection of free-flow Korean sides Appreciated that the service staff cooked the meats and checked the doness from time to time although we were happy to cook ourselves. Learnt from the owner that they had recently moved to the Telok Ayer outlet from Amoy St. Will be back again!
I visit this place at least once a week!I personally like their lunch set the best among all other nearby Korean restaurants. The food is tasty! The portion is generous. Lunch set price is reasonable! The presentation is cute and make you feel like its a mini banquet…thats something pretty chillful during a weekday!Definitely recommend to people who loves Korean food. The pork belly set is so good!
The pork from the backbone stew are absolutely soft and flavourful, bursring with flavour from the bone broth. portion is generous and service is great!recommend to get the steamed egg and top it with cheese - the cheese adds so much more taste to the egg.also, if theres space its good to get fried rice after youre left with some soup - great way to end the meal!
Pork backbone soup is really as good as reviews say it is and the free refills is true! Just the soup alone is worth the return trip. Even though its alittle pricey for the amount of meat you get. So eating in a bigger group is definitely a good idea. The rice wine came in a cute tub as well, plus points for that.
Love this place. The food was good and the ambiance made you feel like you are in Korea, many Korean here you can hear them speaking their language and laughters. The bbq pork is really good, crispy outside and tender inside, very skilful the waiter. The beef short rib soup was good too. Overall is a great dinning experience. I will like to come back and try the cold noodles 😋
It seems like the restaurant specialises in Korean BBQ. But we went for the ala carte table menu instead which was disappointed. Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup is an indispensable dish but it was not avail. The rest of the ala carte menu was so-so. Not impressed. Saw neighbouring tables having BBQ which looks good.Ventilation is really poor. We smelt pretty bad even though we did not eat BBQ. My phone screen is also stained with oil vapour.
One of my fave Korean restaurants to go to. Wide variety with choices that are usually not avail in SG. Food can be authentic but there is an issue with consistency - at times, good and real just like home, but at other times, just too sweet, watered down and not spicy enough. Only Amoy branch seems to have this problem.
Other than the price was cheap. It was hard to find other positive attributes to say.Do note that with a cheap price, the quality of the food will also be low.The food was quite salty. And I realised a lot of people also commented on the food being salty.Didn’t taste like Korean food to me.There was also a weird smell in the restaurant, couldn’t really pinpoint where the smell was coming from- a weird damp smell.Service wise was still alright.
Great korean restaurant... squid salad is ver6 good..
They serve authentic Korean food. You wouldnt be disappointed with their quality and portion. Set lunch worth the money. Please be there early to avoid crowd and long queue
I like the place. If you order from hot pot menu, you have to be aware this portion enough for 2-4 person. I order Dak-bokkeum-tang, and its taste the same like my Eonnie recipes and I love it so much. Tteok-bokki too sweet, sundubu-jigae can be improved, chicken feet good. Banchan good and it’s definitely can be better. I definitely will come back for another hot pot menu. Excellent service I really enjoying my time here.
The seafood pancake is very nice. I also love their braise pork leg. 😋
Had dinner here and was introduced to a couple of new dishes. My favourite dish is the steamed/braised (?) pork belly with dash of soya sauce. Eaten with kimchi cabbage or radish, wrapped in a lettuce leaf, the seemingly familiar braised pork transforms into a textural, savoury, tangy flavour bomb. The spicy noodles were alright, and the cold noodles served more like a vehicle for the gojuchang and red pepper.I wasnt a fan of the chicken in cheese, more of a preference rather than taste.
Best Korean food in Singapore. Better for groups of 4 or larger to fully enjoy the range of food and flavors.========Must-try recommendation: Kimchi Pancake and Mul-naengmyeon.- Service: Friendly, very quick to serve, and very easy to call for (there is a button on each table)- Food: All dishes tried were tasty from the sides to the mains (Herb Bossam, Kimchi Pancake and Mul-naengmyeon.- Ambience: Good spacing between tables for comfort and conversation.========Last visited: Jul-09-2020 for dinner.
Make sure to make a booking ahead and check the table with AC reach
Super value for money lunch sets here! I realised this when I went to their Chinatown bbq branch as well. Had the seafood stew with rice set for $12 last week and it also comes w your choice of kimchi and 4 sides, plus a regular canned drink! The food was really pretty tasty too. Plus side, you wont smell v much (super minimal) after eating which is perfect for lunch. Just gotta deal w the food coma that comes after, haha.
I want to eat jajangmyeon so that I tried to search in google for Korean food near Amoy street. When I saw jajangmyeon price , a bit wonder. Price is 18 for it .But After trying it , I feel it is worth for me . The photo was been taken after half is gone . It is too much for me . Most of the other table was eating stew. A bit crowded even at weekdays evening. Service is good . I will definitely want to come again .
You need to know what kind of experience you are looking for and be aware that things may not going according to plan. Yesterday was my 4th visit in 1.5years of so and I was ABSOLUTELY TURNED OFF by the other patrons who were really HIGH and NOISY. The restaurant staff perhaps did not think they could advise their patrons to be more well behaved leaving many tables of patrons annoyed and upset. The rackus started as early as 7:30pm until that big group left (near 9:30pm). Before they left, a couple came in with the baby (in a stroller) and I thought to myself...its not a good idea at all! Baby would get shocked by inconsiderate patrons.Things I think the restaurant needs to work on/u need to know before u decide to come:1. Restaurant doesnt accept reservations after 7pm2. Restaurant does not manage inappropriate behaviour of patrons (your enjoyment of food could be MAJORLY affected and no one would be able to compensate u for that). If you want a peaceful meal, avoid dinners?
Read through reviews and decided to give Hyang Yeon a try. Came after work on a Friday night, queue was quite long so we left our contact details and came back 30mins later to dine.I am amazed by their customer service! All of them were so patient and nice although it was so busy, they never rush when taking down orders.I love the variety of side dishes, and how well prepared they were. We had roasted honey baby potatoes, sweet potato, anchovies, stir fry veg, kimchi and beansprout😍 it felt like they sprinkled love into their food.Food was good and for the price paid, definitely worth it! Will come back again (:
The food here is amazing!!! Visited Hyang Yeon during lunch and really enjoyed the lunch deal they offer! I ordered the soy bean noodles with marinated chicken and brown rice ($14++) while my friend order the spicy ramen ($12++).The service is a little slow but it’s expected because of the huge crowd. The servers were great in explaining how to order despite the language barrier.Highly recommend anyone who loves korean food to check it out!
I like hyangyeon because of the warm and welcoming interior, and wide variety of food. It’s great for drinking soju and beer.My korean friends would order stuff like jokbal and bossam (traditional pork dishes)I order the kimchi and seafood pancakes which I think are the best because they make it small and crispy, rather than the usual chewy and soft versions.Surprisingly, the bbq is REALLY good here. I always get the sirloin and rib meat. Love the steamed egg too which is uber fluffy.I just get the feeling everything is done with a little extra care and home made in this place. Highly recommended with a pain in my heart cos I hate queues
This is quite a popular place during lunch, possibility due to their very reasonable priced lunch sets. They have a decent variety of lunch sets for the usual Korean food but also has a limited sub selection where you can get a set with a smaller portion of soup + meat. Its still plenty. Only pity is the choice of side dish is limited to 4 fixed combination and not able to refill.
Second time eating here, this time for lunch. The DIY lunch menu was tasted great and affordable. But need to wait around 30-45 minutes to be seated during peak lunch hours.
One of the best Korean restaurants that I been to. Nice portion and the food are tasty that are not overwhelming favour.
This is not my first time here. Their jokbal, JJM, bbq etc were all decent. In view of the good experience, I tried their Jjimdak tonight and that’s when I had one of the worst meals in recent years. The Jjimdak totally don’t look and taste like what a good Jjimdak should taste like (I have tasted many different restaurants in Korea and Anndong in Singapore (closed down already)) and they were all nice. However, their version is like a soupy version of a Jjimdak, totally doesn’t like their picture either (it’s like complete 2 different dishes). The dish took more than 35 minutes to prepare and the chicken was tough and over cooked, the gravy (the consistency is more soup than gravy for their version) tasted extremely sweet for a savoury dish and at the same time it has been over salted.. I don’t usually waste food but I had to leave 1/3 of the dish unfinished because it’s really very badly done..So for those ordering their Jjimdak, please think twice.. the rest of the food are decent..
I love the food here. Some changes to the menu as compared to previous month. Food wise, they taste amazing and very generous! I love the fried flat fish, the pork bbq set. Will be back again! Thanks John & Hyang Yeon Team for the pleasant service!
Long queue at lunch (Covid is making it worse)Make your own set mealsValue for money and the seafood stew I had was wonderfulThe kimchi and side dishes were v agreeableEasy on the tastebuds as the food is not too spicy
Make a reservation on a Saturday night. Reached ard 6.45pm. Ordered Bbq Pork set (Pork belly + Pork collar), Ginseng Chicken Soup, Beef bone soup, Seafood Pancakes and steam egg. Food is served without any Long delay. Side dishes are delicious too. Loved the pork collar and reorder another portion. Overall the dining experience is good. Total bill cost $181.
Tasty food on New Years Day 2021 - ordered the mushroom tofu jjigae and spicy beef jjigae, came with a bowl of rice each and 6 side dishes to share. Food and service is good once you get in but prepare to wait a while.
Amazing Korean food cooked with really good ingredients. Its better than other Korean restaurants on tanjong Pagar road.Tip: if you like the Kimchi, you can buy a box to bring home.
Came for lunch set. Kimchi stew IS STRANGELY VERY sweet? Chicken bbq very hard. Mushroom in bibimbap VERY SALTY. Soup served also freaking salty. But good price.
The spicy jokbal level 3 is a must try if youre a fan of spice. It does have a very good kick. The herb jokbal is good too. The service is fast and efficient.
Expect to wait for seats during lunchtime, unless you avoid the peak from 12pm to 1.30pm. Price of food served is generally a little more expensive than other Korean restaurants along the road, but the quality makes up for it.Pay with card rather than by cash as I once received change of 8 x 10 cent coins.
Ordered pork set. not bad.
Nice place for a fast but satisfying weekday lunch. Will visit again when dropping by
The pot of rice cake and noodles were big disappointment. Very (very) saltish and too spicy. The rice cake was not properly cook (didnt defrost it properly). Is so hard, as if I chewing on Wringly chewing gum! The pork belly was so-so....taste quite bland, very ordinary....i got a seat right inside a room. Walking pass the kitchen area is not a good sight to see how the food are prepared....the kitchen need to tidy up and the hygiene (overall) need to buck up....and it doesnt come cheap....the 2 dishes cost $80....
The signature pork ribs stew is nice, the pork meat is very soft and flavourful.I prefer the kimchi a bit more sour, the one i had ,taste like not fermented long enough.
If you are looking for Korean BBQ Intestines- this is the go-to place definitely 😊👍
Friendly staff, value for money set lunch. A place I frequent for my quick fix of Korean food :)
Friendly service staffs.Portion and price was just right!Ordered the chicken and got the spicy one! Was amazing to me but a little too spicy for my friend.
The food surpass my expectations! The nearest word to discuss is heavenly food !
We ordered pork rib soup big size, it took more than 30 mins to serve and it was really salty. This restaurant looks decent and nice in the outside and interior but guess they didnt devote much time for cooking. Wouldnt visit again. Not worth a price. And ant was crawling on the table .. still not inside the food but who knows?
Nice food and good service.
Decent food although it could be fresher. Good service. About 30% overpriced for the quality of food.
The side dishes were great but the main dish we had was a letdown. Had a medium Gamjatang and steam egg for 2 pax.For people who dont know whats gamjatang. It is a soup made with simmered pork bones for a long time then the strained milky bone broth is seasoned with condiments with potato and vegetables.Having to be in the queue for 45mins and being really really hungry. The soup we tasted is nothing but water with conditments without the flavour of the meat. It might be that we like food that are strong in flavours but its certainly not the kind of gamjatang we had before. Also the steam egg is not fluffy at all as shown in some of the reviews - it was overcooked and some parts were saltier than the rest.We didnt finish our food and left the restaurant after paying the bill. 2 stars for the service of the korean manager =)
Very authentic Korean food. Value for money. Their lunch set meal was filling and delicious😍
I have been third times here ! Always i got good service and very delicious korean food ! The staff was really very friendly. I recommend to you guys!
Great lunch set meals, very affordable considering the amount of dishes. Many choices available and all tasted good.
The food is nice.
This evening was the second visit to Hyang Yeon. My wife and I had a good impression of the restaurant when we first patronize it before the dreadful Covid set in months ago. The ambience was cosy and the service was pleasant. The food was good and the price was reasonable. The 17% 300ml Chum Churum shouju was slightly sweet for me but fragrant and inexpensive. 4 out of 5 stars.
Be prepared for at least 10mins wait during lunch time. The restaurant is really popular during lunch. Their lunch set ($13) was really worth it! I tried their chicken and soy bean paste. You can select 2 main dishes. Side dishes available and they also provide seaweed.
Great BBQ. I will definitely be back
I been many times here ! Always i got good service and very delicious korean food ! I was really satisfied!! I recommend to you guys!
Pork broth rather salty but rather value for money. The side dishes are better than average too.
Kimchi stew tasted more like tomato soup. Service was also not great, the service staff just left the gas stove on our table and did not offer to help us in the cooking of the meat.
The worst I have ever had. Aircon not working or something I dont know. We ordered Chooeo tang, which came out when we were almost finished our meal ! There were also 3 fried fish came out, which were not at all seasoned !
