Delicious, soft idlies and smooth chutney. The idlies served here are soft, fluffy, and light. The sambhar was delicious as well as the dosas. They refill your plate with various chutneys right away. The ghee dosa is soft, crispy, oozing with delicious buttery ghee. The onion uttapam is soft and fresh.Overall, a good place just a little expensive.

Situated in the heart of Little India in Sinagapore (#76, Syed Alwi Road) this place takes you to India! With a perfectly curated menu which offers what someone would call limited items the menu has what you will need to walk out feeling happy, full and content for what is a fairly cheap meal in Singapore! Be sure to avoid peak times as the queues are massive but its a place to go for the crispiest dosa on the Red Dot!

After searching almost all south Indian restaurants, finally got this one whose idli we love. The Vada was very tasty. The dosa was also made to perfection while keeping in view of our request to make it extra crisp. Loved the place and the service. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Would surely recommend this place .

We enjoy an occasional outing to Murugan Idli Shop. The quality of the South Indian food here is excellent. The spicy sauces are also quite a hit and the freshness of the dosa, idli etc. make the experience so much refreshing. The quintessential way to serve the food on banana leaves also make it an interesting experience. Lots of nice options for people of all ages. If you havent been here you are surely missing out. The filter coffee is also very flavourful. Do ask them for a fresh brew. The hand-washing area could be made more hygienic with hourly cleaning.

They’ve got the best idlis in town with free flow chutneys and sambar. The ghee masala dosa also didn’t disappoint. There’s usually a waiting these days due to social distancing limits so you will have to wait outside the restaurant. Maybe they can atleast add a few more chairs for the customers waiting to make it a bearable experience.

Franchisee of Murugan Idli Shop, Madurai.Taste is not as good as the original one, but while in Singapore, you cant complain about that.Menu is attached with the photos Ive posted.Usually crowded, youll have to stand outside the shop waiting if the seats are full.Single occupancy seats are hard to find, so solo foodies might have to wait more.Staff have too many people to attend to, so youll have to WAIT from the word go.Wait for the menu to be provided, food is served pretty fast once the waiters take your order. No preferences in eating as all if them taste great.Calling out for anything to the waiters is useless, they listen to you when they really want to.But all in all, all of this is really worth it, must visit when youve cravings for good idlis.

Simple tasty vegetarian South Indian food. Set on a banana leaf, with four chutneys, and add on idli, dosah, pongol, and more. The idli are well regarded across Singapore, and the texture, richness, and bouncy nature is as good as anything I have eaten in many trips to Chennai. The sambal has a delightful chili bite that leaves your lips lightly warm after you are done eating. A bit of a queue, but worth the wait.

Their Idlis are the Best in Singapore - always fresh, soft and yummy. The rest of the food is good too. I just wish their Sambar was better but overall... worth going to. Yummy and very reasonable prices. Now they have shifted to a bigger place with more seating so one doesnt have to wait in queue. Food is served in traditional style, on banana leaves... best eaten with hand. If you prefer, you can eat with a spoon too ... but then EAT LIKE LIKE ITS MEANT TO BE EATEN (my opinion.)

Lovely South Indian tiffins in little India. The yummy idly joint with the wonderful 4 chutneys on the banana leaf - coconut, mint, curry leaves, tomato and sambhar. Eagerly Jotted down the order on the menu sheet shared with us.The long wait queue didnt deter us and we missed no chance to try - idly, ghee podi idly, masala dosa, onion uttapam and loved every bite of it.T nagar branch of Chennai was much lovelier but this joint is nothing less in the land of Singapore. The ambience is more like an Indian one, no offence meant and reminds you are in Little India. Will visit again definitely.Food - 4/5Price - 3/5 (price on menu doesnt include GST)Overall -4/5

The service is getting deteriorated.. Asked for some extra Chutney which the staff serves generously in Murugan idly (and I have been visiting here for years), and the lady staff rudely snapped me, please first finish the one you have. After a while, my husband asked her to pour some, she kept pouring it on my plate despite telling her its sufficient.Podi dosa was salty, first time in so many years. Idlis are the only thing one can come for if getting served rudely by some of the staff is tolerable. Understandably staff may have extremely high demand of customers, which makes them delay heeding to our requests, but havent seen such an attitude in Murugan idly before.

This restaurant is situated opposite Mustafa. Food was good. But the atmosphere is bad . Not clean. Service is very very bad. Six of us went there and we were given two tables in two different rows. After having dosa, we ordered idly . Idly was supplied without chutney and sambar. It took another 10 minutes for chutney and sambar eventhough the restaurant was half empty. Coffe was ordered and the staff kept all the cups of coffee on one table eventhough our group is occupying two tables apart from each other. We could see the staff shouting at each other and fighting. A staff from one corner was shouting at another staff in another corner. Too much noise. You can not eat your food peacefully here.

Furthermore price quoted was excluding GST and service charge. Not recommended and definitely not going back as there are better outlets with better tasting food. Unarguably, the freshest and the tastiest idlis in Singapore. For those who don’t know what idlis are or haven’t tried them before, they’re steamed dough cakes served with an assortment of freshly prepared dips. For Indians, do try the Podi dosas here. They never had it on the menu two years ago until I suggested. Now it’s one of my go-to places for some excellent podi-dosai.

Came here for supper last night and the place was clean and welcoming. The plain thosai was delightfully crisp, tangy, and not too greasy. I think among the top 3 Ive ever had! The idlis were very fluffy and pretty good, but I wish a little tangy-er. The chutneys were delicious and varied. My main quibble about the restaurant is the lack of tea on the menu! I was really surprised and had to check with the manager, who confirmed they dont serve tea. They do have mango lassi and coffee among others, but just manage your expectations if youre hankering for masala chai.

I have been eating at Murugan Idli shop at Syed Alwi Road for more than 12 years. Without doubt they serve the best idlis in town. In fact they also used to have best dosa and sambhar as well but their food quality has taken a seious dip in last 3 yeara or so. Their xoconut chutney used to be so amazing but now is so spicy. Dont know whether they have done it deliberately as its a free flow item and used to be taken a lot. Quality of sambhar has also come down. Its more watery now. Dosa filling isnt also as tasty as it used to be. Last thing...filter coffee .I used to live that steel mini glass and Katori and traditional style of serving with inverted glass, now paper cups have taken over and that feel is gone. Murugan Idli Shop seriously needs to address its declining quality otherwise there are many restaurants serving south indian food and they will soon start feeling the heat.
