Sevanavank is a monastic complex located on a peninsula at the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan in Armenia. The Blue Pearl of Armenia is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. Overlooking the lake, the Sevanavank monastery ruins are a beautiful and historically significant destination just a few hours north of Armenias capital, Yerevan.
The beauty and grandeur of this hope place is unparalleled. The views are breathtaking. I loved this place and could have spent a day here exploring the area. Lots of places to buy souvenirs. And Ive cream. This is very important especially in the summer. Go and sit a while. Listen to the spirit of the place. Know the shalom of Christ.
Beautiful. Simple beautiful. Another amazing site in Armenia. Great 360 views of Sevan lake. Was there in late April and it was still a little cold and it tends to be very windy due to the location so make sure you bring a jacket with you. Very beautiful location. Difficult parking at the bottom but worth it even on a busy day. Definitely worth a visit when in the area.
These place is extremely beautiful, in general it could be crowds in the weekends, although in the weekdays it’s not that crowded, the experience is truly great and the breeze is wonderful, as you can see from my photos the view is also astounding, you can spend family time there and enjoy a good talk with your siblings or parents/ friends, although if we can here in a stormy day or rainy day, it wouldn’t have been very pleasant, in addition to that a few kilometers from this place is a wonderful restaurant that I review be sure to check it out.Don’t forget to like the review of you enjoyed it!
The view from that spot is breathtaking, but the place is too much touristy, I was kinda disappointed. People are everywhere and the magic of the place is lost. Much better was visit of the lake Sevan, in a camp nearby, where we spent night and have a fresh bath in the morning. Plus, Sevan lake is so blue it looks like it can’t be true
A place that is a must visit. The history of this sanctuary is marvellous. It is available online to read ahead of time if you are going with a tour or during the visit if you are your own guide. We visited with a tour but wished we didnt. We barely had a 45mins stop we could not discover the churches well, did not have time to visit the shops of artists around the place, and could not enjoy the lake view as much as needed. If I do it again, i would rent a car and drive there on gps take as much time as i need n then continue the tour at my own pace.
Awesome, I love this place, you can take a beautiful photos like mine which I attached, go there and I guarantee you will love this lake, I went there twice, and I am thinking to go every year, and they have 4 real seasons, and the view always changed each season, I went there with a friends and with my older Son and I am planing to go with my wife soonest. go for it, High recommended
A must see when visiting Armenia. About an hour from Yerevan, with stunning mountain views and lake views. Free entry to all of the complex. There are some steps to climb up as it is perched on a hill.
Worth a visit for sure.
Great views of Lake Sevan. Do take a look at the copper souvenirs sold at the base. Theyre tasteful and I cant seem to find like stuff in other places.
Impressive monistary
As far as monasteries go, this place is pretty small. I think they are still practicing here and most of the buildings are closed. The church happened to be open the day we went and there was a wedding there which was cool. But overall, if you dont have the time, its not worth the trip. As an added note, we were there with a tour and had our own food so we were eating it in the parking lot and one of the restaurant owners started yelling at us that we cant bring our own food. Such a weird experience. She was yelling in my face to stop eating in the middle of a parking lot as I continued to chew and swallow.
Lots of tourists on a sunny day. Still a very spiritual place. It is worth climbing the stairs to enjoy the monument and the great view.
A nice area, but not adapted for tourists and visitors. The surroundings is full of garbage. The information boards are teared down and old, dirty, too. Two stars for the air and the historical view. Souvenirs do not worth buying there, more expensive than in Yerevan and the quality is not high
Awesome place
If its good weather, you can come here,I think it is not special, but nice!
Nothing special, except extremly strong wind, it was even hard to walk there. However, nice view
Beautiful views surrounding there....
Very interesting spot.
Just incredible. Must see and visit
From here is the beautyest view.
Sevanavank monastery complex on the peninsula of Lake Sevan surrounded by such arresting natural beauty with sparkling azure lake creating a breathtaking backdrop.
Perfect place to enjoy the sunset. The view of the vast Sevan lake is beautiful and serene.Be prepared to climb a number of stairs to reach the monastery and then a small trek on the hill to get to the viewpoint, which is a task especially during the colder times.
So beautiful
Nice scenery
Outstanding place and wonderful look to the lake.
The monastery is on top of a hill gifting you a breathtaking view over Lake Sevan and its surroundings. Best time to visit is before sunset for the best light.
Beautiful and peasefull
You will get a Beautiful view of Sevan Lake from here. Must see place
Lake sevan is so beautifull

Fine for a quick stop; good view
Hilltop church with nice views over Sevan lake
This place is very beautiful
Nice place & view
A beautiful and mistic place. Lake Sevan is one of the most iconic destination in Armenia.
Old small cathedral on a hill, a 5 minute climb via stairs from the parking lot, great view on lake sevan.
Lake sevan is a beautiful lake little further to yerevan , amazingly beautiful and scenic .
Had a great experience, and one of the best places in Armenia for my photoshootShivRish photography
Its a very beautiful place ,you can do lots of photos. The architect is unbelievable .Its one of the best places in Armenia
Love the views ❤️
An amazing place that is over 1150 years old, worth a visit if you are in Armenia.Kept in good condition and you can go inside to have a look. Not much light so go during a sunny day. Glad I went.
One of my favorite places in Armenia. Fantasti view from church Sevanavank. Our lake Sevan is amazing.
Amazing place to understand how you are
The view from here is to die for. Absolutely recommended.
Make to wear a sports, walking shoes or comfortable shoes to climb up the hill, when you reach the top youll see the monastery, well maintained and overlooking is the famous lake Sevan.
I love the panoramic view of this location.
Solemn and tranquil💗
My favorite monastery
I was a tourist and all the spots were really very nice. Very nice and friendly peoples. Highly recommend travel destination.
One of the most prominent examples of medieval armenian architecture. The view is magnificent, the mountains surround the lake from all sides. To many people around in season, better to reach in morning to avoid the crowds.lot of shops around for shopping
Amazing place! I love this place very much! Lovely view
Great place, both the church and aerial view are impressive. Lake surface has different colours in different places, very beautiful to see.
Beautiful place and is a must visit. If your tour company is not taking you to this place, I suggest you request them to as it is a completely different experience altogether.
So beautiful So inspiring must go with few people to enjoy a diner aroundMet some people and were so friendlyI would go back tomorrow and discover the country
Probably the best thing about Sevanavank is the scenery. The mountains to the North are beautiful, especially if there are clouds covering them.
Very beautiful medieval church. Up there you will have a sevan lake view. Perfect
One of the most peaceful places in Armenia. Can get a little crowded with tourists but its open and wide, so it doesnt bother. Breathtaking view over the lake on a sunny day. The monastery is a also worth seeing. You have to climb stairs. Not wheelchair accessible.
Beautiful view of lake Sevan, old Armenian church, fresh air.
Very impressive view. Make sure to visit the churches, some are very ancient and are built above pagan temples of the 4th Century
The place is very beautiful, but merchants and noisy restaurants surrounding are extremely nasty
The place has nice scenery and good for picnic, taking picture and relaxing.
Could not imagine that such a big and beautiful lake was there in Armenia. Very enjoyable experience .
Aaaaaa...!!!! Such a nice place... little drops of snow cold, freezing breeze. Amazing
This place is absolutely fantastic for its views. There is a small vendor market as well at the base - or guide mentioned something like over 200 steps to reach the site itself. Take your time, but it is certainly with doing. This was really great for the kids as well.
Great atmosphere, clean air, breathtaking
Beautiful remote monetary well worth the drive from Yerevan. A real marvel how it was built with a really interesting history
Nice place. Holly place.
Very beautiful place. Lake Sevan is mesmerising. Really loved the view from Sevanavank Hill. A must visit place in Armenia 💜
Very cool views of the lake and an outstanding piece of Armenian Christrian history.
Historical place on the peninsula and region, 300 years old d.c. beginning of Catholic church. It seems to be preserved as originally, but was rebuilt; an holy place and must be preserved with respect, enjoy the silence and endless panoramic views, the lake on both sides of the mountain where the monastery is.
Very peaceful water banks
The most famous place of Sevan lake area! Need to be visited. Its not only historical place, but also great view of the lake from here!
Beautiful site with captivating view of the lake and surrounding area. At least 200 steps up to the top, but the climb is worth it.
Amazing panoramic views and very historical
Good food next to Lake Sevan. Also very picturesque
The lake is breathtaking, and the Monasteries sitting on top of the hill are just picture perfect
