Highly disappointed after going here during our stay in Rome.First of all even with only our table operating we have to wait and to order adhoc while waiting like chapati no one care to serve we have to go to reception asking to give chapati that too with only us eating. In lime water I got plastic probably from ice.And on top the dal tadka is like the worst thing to expect out in an Indian restaurant it was terrible although paneer parantha is good. In end our bill reduced by the cost of lime water because of plastic.Overall bad experience with basic Indian dish daal tadka and service to the table needs upside down changes.

If youre looking to have comfort and delicious yet luxurious Indian food , this is the place to go ! I dont write many reviews, its either when I have had the most terrible experience or the most mind-blowing food. And trust me, this place is a must go when in Rome - it reminded me of home food after being in Rome for a week, this is exactly what I needed. The staff are friendly, food quality is top notch and the owners are always around which gives me comfort knowing the food is freshly made. Posting everywhere I can... DO NOT LEAVE ROME WITHOUT GOING TO SITAR! So incredibly amazing! The staff, the food, the prices.... I think this was my favorite part of vacationing here. Right around the corner from the Coliseum. I don’t know where some of the poor reviews came from, but I couldn’t find something to be upset about if I tried. Amazing!

Humiliating for Indians, Restaurant lady will treat Indians as like untouchable people or low class people, which makes really a bad to be there.Location is good.Food is ok we can try, not that good or not that bad.Ambience is good. They will follow local rules, appreciated. But if they had a good behaviour with Indian, it would have been a excellent place to be.

This is not authentic Indian food and does not taste very good. The service is very slow and food took over an hour to come to our table. The owner has a prejudice towards brown/Indian people. She will treat you differently. She kept all the white people in the front of the restaurant and the colored people in a different room in the back. When asked to be seated in the front, we were told those seats were reserved however those seats remained empty till closing. Displeased.

Having experienced Italian warmth and delightful service in restaurants, I was completely taken aback by the condescending manner in which my husband and I were treated at Sitar. Reflecting on our experience later, it was evident that the proprietors had a prejudice towards certain people. Their disrespect and shaming attitude towards a large Indian family made me embarrassed to be an Indian. The restaurant has a policy not to serve tap water!! No where have I seen people be refused tap water! They also have a big list of rules for customers on the first page of their menu!As Indians,we pride ourselves in being generous with food and water towards our fellow beings.....this place was deprived and lacking in generosity of spirit! The waiter was brilliant, the proprietors could learn from him! The absence of humility and their lack of desire to truly serve their customers goes down as a restaurant I would not recommend for an Indian experience!

We stumbled across this place in Rome and it was a welcome change from the pasta and pizza after 10 days in Italy. Anuradha runs a great restaurant where the food is authentic and feels like being back home in India. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and good service. We went again the second night for dinner after enjoying the dinner the earlier day and even though the place was busy, Anuradha accommodated the three of us and ensured we were served. My first ever trip to Rome... and it was great! The first Indian restaurant we visited was close to the Pantheon called Bombay Blues... Awesome place food was great and live entertainment on a Saturday night and friendly staff... we had high expectations there on .. We visited sitar on a Sunday night .. firstly be careful if you have a pram or wheelchair ... We had to carry the pram downstairs into the restaurant around 10 stairs . very little space as you enter the establishment .. If you are in a wheel chair ...i dont know how you will bring this in or if you can actually eat their..... General waiting staff member was polite however we found the lady owner to be abrupt ... and not very customer focused when it came to a tentative service (the owner was content on explaining that there was no room to accommodate any changes to the menu, it was a case of take it or leave it). also we noticed a person carrying a dog out through the customer entrance I wasnt sure if it was the owners pet or customers we were not best pleased hmmmm .. on the other hand food was good and average priced. If I visit Rome again im gonna give Sitar a miss

Visited due to 4.2 rating but was highly unsatisfied. Being an Indian it was such a disappointment to see such restaurants having weird rules like they charge 1.5 euros if order is below 15 euros per person..insane. Ordered shahi paneer was it such a waste. Portion not decent, charged for onion salads and didnt allow water we carried. I mean if ur representing India you should know onions, pickles n all are served along not charged. Will never recommend anyone especially Indians to opt for this. Tried several times to order takeaway from here, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Its been a long time since someone was this rude to me on the phone. To the owners: if you dont want to accommodate takeaway, I suggest you remove that subsection from your website. To people looking for Indian food in this area: there are a lot less painful ways to get it and not very far away either.
