The knowledge of the teachers in this course is superb. They are very wise in traditional yogic knowledge, so if you are looking for authenticity, this is the school for you. The food is very healthy. It is similar each day, but its very well balanced and filling. If you remember that you’re in a different country and not expect 5 star treatment, you will have a wonderful time. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the class schedules allow enough time for rest and studying. One tip - arrive the day of your course to the facility. If you come before it may be difficult for space, because as one course finishes, the next starts so there is a bit of overlap. To avoid any unnecessary stress, just arrive the day your course starts, even if you arrive to Rishikesh a few days before to sleep off the jet lag.

I stayed from 1st of November to 16th of December. I attained a lot of different courses and was really happy about classes, teachers, staff, management and facility. Whenever we had any problem, they tried to solve it with all their power, they were always friendly and good towards us, they cared about us as if we were a big family. Im grateful to them for everything and hope to go there again on May 2020! See you soon..

I am so glad I chose Vedansha as the institute for my 200 hour yoga ttc. All the staff was so friendly and attentive, they truly care about you and your well-being. All the teachers are wonderful over the variety of classes you have to take and each offer their own perspective on the subject. Not only do you get an authentic yogic experience and training, but you also get to meet so many different people from all over the world. Vedansha will take you with open arms into their yoga family and open your eyes and mind to a deeper understanding of what yoga is.

I did the 10 day detox retreat and loved my experience. The staff, especially the incredible Deepak, looked after us all so well, going above and beyond to help, particularly when a few of the students got sick - they were like caring parents! The teachers were fantastic and I learned and progressed so much each day. The food was always delicious and healthy, and our detox juices & fresh ginger tea each day were a highlight. The atmosphere is so friendly, with all staff smiling, and inspiring conversation with fellow students from all over the world. They even arranged a wonderful Christmas celebration, complete with secret Santa!Accommodation is basic, but comfortable in the centre. My only issue would be that I stayed in the nearby ashram for most of the time which was much more basic, and a lot colder, so difficult to sleep. I feel this should have been reflected in the price. I think they have added a new accommodation option in a nearby hotel, so this may no longer be an issue.

The teachers are absolutely amazing, the management and organization is poor. If you are looking for a luxury retreat, this is not the place for you. The accommodation is fine, just dont expect a hotel experience. Its not a hotel, its a yoga school. If you are ready to sweat and work hard and get more information than you can handle, then you will thrive. If you are unable to go without pizza and pasta and omlettes and different world food every day, then consider somewhere else. You will eat plain food, you will oftentimes have a cold shower, and you will learn to appreciate and be grateful for many of the things you take for granted. The photographs that you see online of people practicing outside are very misleading. There is no outdoor space in which to practice. That is on a field trip for one morning. That being said, the practice room is fine, just like pretty much all the other ones you will find in Rishikesh. Its on the roof so great views.

The staff and course content here is amazing. Food is prepared with care with detox in mind and always sanitary. The accommodations are not the best in the world but I think average for the area. If you want a genuine experience to learn more about the yogic life and not just learning asana’s then this is the place. If you like very good accommodations still take the courses here but stay somewhere close. The place is really not bad to stay and I was comfortable. Peer students did not like the accommodations but I thought the attentiveness of the staff more then made up for any inconvenience because they fixed any problems ASAP. Sometimes within minutes. One day we didn’t have cinnamon for breakfast and they literally ran down the street and purchased more cinnamon for us for our meal.

As someone who has practiced asanas for many years I was amazed by how much room for improvement I had on the some of the simpler postures. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about how many avenues there are to yoga and loved delving deep in to meditation. Pranayama was also quite new to me and is something I plan to continue. I feel like my mind could explode with all of the information received in throughout the month and I can’t wait to continue my yoga journey! I’m not sure I’m ready to teach yet but I am equipped with many great new tools and I am so glad I decided to come to the homeland of Yoga and Ayurveda to start my journey!

Vedansha was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I came here at the end of my one year trip around the world. I was expecting to spend two weeks doing yoga and meditation to improve my own practice. What I found was unexpected, I fell in love with Pranayama and I finally understood the real sense of Yoga through the Master, amazing Pandeyji. What can I say? Teachers are great, food is delicious and staff is the kindest. At the same time if it is your first visit in India you will need some days of adaptation and if you come in summer be ready to experience the hot Indian weather. India is so challenging as inspirational. I found here one of my best Masters and through him the Real Yoga, a big open door. Really thankful to him and all the team.

Vedansha has some of the best teachers and instructors. I felt like I’ve gained a whole new respect for yoga, learning more about the history or yoga and being in the birth place of yoga (Rishikesh) has been a very spiritual experience for me as well. Ive learned a lot more about the power of the breath, used in a practice known as Pranayama, which has helped me to activate my breath and I believe this practice is everything for increasing energy and improving overall health as well. I plan to bring this back to my studio in the United States, where I hope the Western part of the world will start to catch on to it. Thank you for my time here!

My experience in Vedansha was great. It was my first yoga teacher trainning program, so I think that my knowledge and skills increased considerably, either physical practices or theory. The stuff was the best, Deepak and Jyoti made me feel like home or even better. Always welling to help you, make you smile or arrange anything you require (realisticly talking). Also mention Manu and Jagdish for their kindness. Awdesh and Sandy, great teachers. I enjoyed a lot ashtanga practices, so it was my first time in this field, fantastic teacher.Food was great, just that, we westerns are used to have more variety daily. Lets say the last week of my course was tired of the food, but they are kind enough to try to make new things like pizza night. Also, you have plenty of cheap places around to eat out. Location is good in terms of proximity to the center. But I would prefer hundred time more to live near to wildness, nature, quiteness, etc. Just my own preferences.Summering, danyawad :)See you soon.

It’s been two months now since finishing the 300 hours Yoga Therapy Teacher Training with Vedansha Institute (February 2019 batch). I’ve been reluctant to write a review and share my experience since my feelings were and still are mixed. On the positive side, I found the teachers to be experienced and good, the staff helpful and friendly. We were offered a good and clean accommodation, freshly prepared and versatile meals, interesting excursions. The classes schedule was intense but doable, as we had enough time to rest. The curriculum was well balanced, although I think a more gradual approach in introducing certain concepts and techniques would be more beneficial for the students, especially when it comes to pranayama. Some of the students were quite puzzled when they were asked to do a certain breathing technique, retention or a bandha, for example, quite early in the course, without prior explanation. The philosophy classes were very enjoyable, and I could only compliment the Anatomy and Yoga Therapy teacher.However...When I was applying for the Yoga Therapy Teacher training, one of the conditions to participate, was to have had completed 200 hours YTT. It was natural for me to conclude that the lectures would be on a higher/deeper level. “Intermediate level” was also mentioned in the description of the course, as well. However, I ended up in a 200 YTT group, repeating what I have already learned during my 200 hours of training last year. I had only 2 classes related to the subject of Yoga Therapy. Not only that the level of the training was not intermediate, but the course was also far from 300 hours of lectures, as well.Other students had the same or similar experience. Whoever came to the school, regardless of the course that they have chosen, 300 YTT, 500 YTT, 50 YTT, 100 YTT, Meditation, Pranayama, Astrology… they were all put in the same group, listening to whatever was on the schedule for the 200 hours YTT group, with only a few subject related classes. That meant, for the 500 YTT students, for example, repeating basically the same things for two months. That made some of them leave the course after the first month, with certain difficulties with the management. Some of the 100 hours YTT students, as another example, ended up listening to the last week’s lectures of one batch, and the first week of the next one. You can imagine the cohesiveness and the usability of the acquired knowledge. There were also cases when the management didn’t even know what course some of the students were there for, so they just put them in the 200 YTT group. So, these students had to “fight” for the subject-specific classes.Put shortly, beside the 200 hours YTT, the rest of the courses were not specifically tailored. Also, the certificate I got after the completion of the Yoga Therapy Teacher Training had all the logos of the major international Yoga organizations, including the one of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), but it turned out it is not recognized by any of these. That is quite misleading, unfair and probably not very legal.I should also mention that it was very loud. There were several buildings under construction around the school, and very often it would interfere with the lectures. Some of the classes, like meditation, for example, didn’t make sense. The noise was simply not conducive to meditation. The food quality was often not satisfying for some of the students, and they chose to eat outside, but that’s a personal preference.I hope that this will not be understood by the school as “stabbing in the back”, but rather as constructive criticism and feedback. I hope that they will use their potential to spread the knowledge of Yoga and give the students what they have applied and paid for. And lastly, I hope they will not turn out to be another money making “school of Yoga” with only financial gain in mind.My deepest gratitude to Vedansha, as they gave me a really valuable experience.

Positive aspects: I had a nice 7-night stay at Vedansha. Most of the people are nice, the yoga lessons are nice (meditation was a bit strange for me) and food is sometimes good, sometimes tourist quality.Negative points: Its pure business, which I understand. I had signed up for an 8-day silent vipassana meditation. The reason I booked Vedansha was that the 10-day Dhamma vipassana meditation (the original worldwide vipassana community which runs on donation) was fully booked so I couldnt participate. I thought Vedansha could offer me the same experience. It turned out I was wrong. If Im the only person doing silent meditation in an environment where theres tens of other people doing different courses (yoga, detox etc.), socializing and talking with each other, one can imagine its pretty hard to be silent. The first day I was put in a place where people are under the same roof, being a pretty close community. I told the manager that its really hard, if not impossible to practice silent meditation here, where Im also attending the same classes as other people. The second day, I was moved to another place where theres less people, but where still, no one else was doing the same course as I was. I was also told that they will tell everyone that Im doing this course and that people should not disturb me. In theory, its possible, but in practice, well, you can imagine. I tried to follow the schedule for the second day but it was absolutely not possible. I talked about my issue with the manager. I knew he understood full well what I wanted and what my difficulty was, but because this is business, he didnt admit it. He kept on telling me that if I can control my mind, I can complete my course. So basically he didnt want to give in and say, yes, its hard here. If I can have a word, its basically impossible to do this course here. And even if I couldve done it silently and followed the schedule they gave me (which, by the way, is far from the original vipassana meditation schedule), Im pretty sure I wouldnt have felt like Ive done a real vipassana course. After 2 days I decided to give up on the course and just take part in the lessons I felt like going, as well as socialize with other paying customers. I had a good time, even though I couldnt get an experience I was looking for. I payed a lot for this course ($270) and I felt like I was fooled. And I hate to be fooled. In my opinion, they should not offer something they cant give to a paying customer. This is why, I cant rate this higher than 2 stars.

I had an amazing time with the Vedansha team. I came here for my 300h YTTC and I really believe that I found the perfect place where I could’ve done my course. What I received here was more than a training on how to improve my knowledge and teaching skills. It was a real training for how to have the best life and a profound experience of connecting with myself.I can say that one more time I learned how to live and how to enjoy the life that I have. It was an experience that empowered me and taught me more about how to accomplish great things in my life and to in the same time to maintain the balance in all ares of my life. I felt that every class brought more value and light in my understanding. I overcome my limits, I improved my knowledge, I gained more wisdom, I reached new meditative states, I am more aware of myself and I have wider vision about my potential. The staff is composed of amazing and beautiful people. I learned something new from every teacher and every staff member. I appreciated the professionalism, the fact that they took in consideration differences between students and their needs and that they were open to hear every voice. All the activities we had made our experience complete. I really enjoyed the food. It was delicious! One thing that really made a huge difference for me was the feeling of being part of the family. Overall, I can truly say it was a luxuriant experience for my soul. I can’t wait to come back. I really recommend the place!

Upon my arrival, one of the Vedansha trustworthy taxi drivers (traveling alone as a female, is good to know that youre dealing with people you can trust) picked me up and waited for me outside Dehradun Airport welcoming me not only with a sign with my name written on it, but also with a big warm smile on his face. Circa 45minutes later, I arrive at the awaited location - Vedansha Yoga Academy, there I was also greeted warmly and assisted with my luggage immediately. Warm smiles everywhere, even from the attendees/students who some had also just arrived for the December 2018 YTTs. And as the days went on, it just got better and better. The Coordinator/Supervisor DEEPAK, what a marvelous soul he is! Sometimes I thought there were more than one Deepak since hes everywhere, doing everything and answering all your questions at all times, and with you on all excursions - Thanks a million DEEPAK!! The Manager Alok, great and also very helpful! The kitchen staff: Deeleep, Baba, Babloo (so sorry if I misspelled your names) all so sweet, always smiling and always cooking the most delicious and healthy vegetarian foods with the highlight of many of us there being their everyday fresh made ciapatis! Fresh ginger tea all the time as well. Missing it all! Accommodations at The Center are simple but surprisingly comfortable (just give yourself 2 to 3days to get used to your very firm bed ;)). Although now, they just opened a new facility which I saw on my last day there (thank you for taking me to see your new location Alok!). The beds look more comfortable, some rooms have marble floors looking very fancy, new toilets and rooms even have tv sets. It looked great, but I prefer it simple and more Ashram style. In completing the 300HR Yoga Therapy Teacher Training, I must say Im super satisfied with every aspect of this training. Teacher/Dr.Hemlata; Superb! She is so knowledgeable in all her subjects, Yoga Anatomy, Asana Practical, and Yoga Therapy with a great sense of humor and loads of patience. Hatha Yoga; Teacher Sandeep, Incredible! He is powerful, serious but at the same time funny and brings you into levels of your twists, stretches all postures that you thought you could not do or reach. Alignment of postures, Teacher Vikas; good, but could be a bit more enthusiastic. Meditation; Teacher Lakhiram, fantastic! So engaged and fun with introduction of different types of meditations, with a soothing voice to bring you deep into your meditative state and surely to connect with your SELF. And last and most importantly and definitely not least is Dr. Sanjeev Pandey Ji, with his extensive and masterful teachings of Pranayama and Philosophy (my highlights of the training). I thought I knew Pranayama, and I thought I had done Pranayama before, but no... I had not, for I had never connected with the inner SELF in me as I did during his classes. He is TOP NOTCH/THE BEST and a Master of his teachings. What I experienced personally I cannot put into words, so I leave it up to you to live your own experience during his classes and enjoy the inner journey he takes you on. First he cleanses you through all his transforming Pranayama techniques, and then through the repetitive chanting of the sacred AUM/OM followed by sitting in silence, he brings you to meet your real and pure SELF. He delivers the slogan from his Academy - Connect with yourself - each and everytime and with no doubt brings you to realize that there within us is a better version of us, our higher SELF. So put your selfies aside, and embark on this marveling journey to discovering and connecting with your True SELF. An exalting and beyond our material bodies and limited minds experience! I call Vedansha - The Fountain of Youth and The Well of your wellbeing.Thank you all, the entire VEDANSHA TEAM (even those I do not mention here) for all your attention, all your great efforts and for making me feel at home while away from home. Will keep you all always close to my heart. NAMASTE, Felicia R.

Vedansha is a good retreat to go, it is slightly out the way of the most urban areas of Rishikesh - I have seen some other retreats that are slapped down in the middle of a concrete jungle without a conducive atmosphere for study. The yoga class sizes are small and the teachers are personable so you will get the attention you need, particularly if you ask for anything. The people are good-natured and friendly.Dr. Pandaji teaches a traditional course in Yogic Philosophy through the eyes of Pantanjali and is a powerful speaker. You will receive a good understanding of it as he does not teach it as an intellectual exercise but really as a way of life. Its a bit of a stretch to say the course is a detox course. What that involves is getting a detox drink in the morning. In fact I have been to other retreats where they put you on liquids for 5 days, then raw foods for 5 days, then half raw half cooked. They still serve breads and other non-detox foods with the meals, you dont have to eat them but there is always the temptation.

Classes: All are very good and insightful. Except Anatomy. The teacher wasnt great at the very beginning but towards the end of the session the management replaced him with an awesome teacher that managed to catch us up with the things that we need to know.I came here with the thought that I would practice more than i used to back home, but in reality that isnt the case. Yoga practice is 2 times a day but the intensity/difficulty is less than what I used to when I practice back home, but yoga is not all about Asana. I learnt way more other things. If you are an advanced Asana practitioner, I wouldnt recommend this place because you would learn what you already know. This is a perfect place for those who just started yoga asana or intermediate.Accommodation: Simple but comfortable and very clean. We get to have our own room. The place has a nice garden overlooking the hills of Rishikesh.Food: Most of the time is really good and makes you feel good. Sometimes is a miss when they just serve you soup with another soup or just potatoes but this is rare.Daily Schedule: Not as strict as other YTT centres. You start the session at 6:30 and finish at 6:30 in the evening. It may seem like a long time but time actually flies. Once a week they take you to nice excursions too.Staff & Faculty: All very friendly, kind and very helpful. They are like my Indian family!

We spent a month in Vedansha and did the 200 hours of teaching. It was a wonderful time, the teachers are very knowledgeable and the staff are lovely, always ready to help. The meals have always been very varied and of very good quality. Very clean rooms, with air conditioning and ventilation.I highly recommend this school and we will definitely be back soon. Thanks to the whole team !

Attention rip off!I would like to share my experience of vendansha. For Europeans the prices seem cheap, but if you inform yourself on site and dont just naively swim along, you notice that Vendansha is doing a pure rip-off.We were accommodated in an ashram outside the retreat center, for which the equivalent of 13 € was charged. In the ashram I found out that the night there costs only 3 €!The same for the taxi transfer from the airport, which was charged $ 25.This trip costs only 800 rupees so about 8 € rip off again! The accommodation was inadequate, the noise indescribable, as the ashram is right on the main road. You couldnt sleep through the night. In my eyes you are taking advantage of the ignorance of customers who come to India for the first time. The Hatha teacher was a volleyball player and had to look at his papers during class because he didnt really know the poses.Lessons dont start on time and it seems normal for the teachers to answer the phone during the class with vendansha! The best is yet to come:I decided to leave this school! And checked into Divine Ganga cottage, where I get to know a yoga teacher. Rhaul Tiwari, he is a former teacher at the school vendansha! He was employed there for 100 € a MONTH (the teachers are also exploited)He taught me for 4 days in Ganga cottage, I learned more from him than from vendansha in 50 hours. The teachers talk a lot about karma and you shouldnt have an ego ... well, pandij the boss there has the biggest ego Ive ever seen, just puts on a huge show and thinks hes the biggest! And when you talk about karma, I hardly think that this school will have lasting success. What goes round comes round.Something positive at the end, deepika the mantra teacher is very good and natalia tried very hard. You have to pay extra for the delicious pizza, otherwise there is rice and sauce!Make your own experience, but if you are not feeling well, go and get to know the right India and better teachers! All the best, I hope the school changes its style. I have been running a dance studio in Germany myself for 10 years, and I dont think you can get very far with a style like that. And that s photos and videos were posted on the internet that Im on, WITHOUT my consent! I will get advice on this at home, and if these are not deleted, I have to take legal action against them.
