The Sivananda Kutir, part of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and founded in 1991, is situated on the banks of the holy river Ganga, against the stunning backdrop of the majestic Himalayas. I stayed at Ashram first time in 2012 still I remember that kind of Shanti, spirituality. I think difficult to explain in words . So better try to stay n blessed.

Love this place quite n calmA week of experience here is best in ashram there are many rules which we have to follow like waking early and attending morning prayer at vishwanath mandir and then prayer at samadhi and the food they provide here is fully Satvik without onion n garlic then other rules we have to follow here is a little bit of service to others. And you can also get the blessings of many sadhus.

Best place to achieve self realisation

There are very rare ashrams which are authentic and do not sell yoga in Rishikesh. Here they believe in pure sense of seva also offers a 2 month course on Yoga-Vedanta without any charges.Do bring a mask and eye goggles because the road on which this is built is very polluted because it the only connecting road, lots of dust and pollution. After you enter ashram it is all sublime.

Tranquility at its best. Spirituality at its height, Serenity at its top. The globes headquarter for Yoga and Indian Philosophy is Rishikesh mainly because of this ashram. Swami Shivananda blesses here always. Moreover the absolutely free medical services started by Swami Shivananda still stands there with the same pride and helpfulness. The food is very good and the stay here is free. You will have the best ashram life here. Since the Ramjhula is right next to the ashram you will have access to other side is the river as well.

Giving 1 rating not because of this ashram..I am sure all true spiritual places deserves infinite ratings...I went there alone as a seeker to know about about Sivananda hi spiritual teachings but to my surprise, they simply denied my accomdation request but I went there alone and not with the family... I talked to one acharya ji there to allow me stay but he refused because I did not come with family...I explained him that I am seeker and intentionally coming alone to learn more but he refused to provide me accomdation and later I landed up in a LIVe free hostel at Laxman jhula..

A very spiritual place near the holy river Ganges. People from various places come here for meditation and getting a spiritual experience. Placed close to Ramjhula. Prayer classes, Recitation of Geeta, Religious classes, video and speeches of the founder Swami Sivananda and other great preachers, Yoga are regular features here. Rishikesh market and Laxman jhula area is about 3 kms from here. The food and accommodations are very simple. Calm and quite atmosphere prevail here.
