An amazing place to witness sunsets!

A nice jetty, from where ships carry local folks from Chattan to Bamboo flight for their daily work.

Smallest inhabited island of India, Chatham jetty, has two harbours. One for public to travel to Daduspoint jetty and Banbooflat jetty and other harbour for commercial purposes. The commercial jetty transports products of nearby sawmill which is in the island. Chatham saw mill is Asias oldest sawmill and still running. Connected to Port Blair by a two lane narrow bridge.

Its an important jetty on Chatham Island. It is situated by the side of the Chatham Saw Mill. The jetty is clearly seen from the forest office on the hill top of Chatham Saw Mill. Mainly goods and woods are shipped from this jetty. Beautiful atmosphere and excellent scenario around this jetty. The blue sea water under the blue sky and the greenery by its side makes the place superb and unique.

Important jetty to go to chatham and Mount Harriet National Park. A big vessel carry cars and people from one side to otherside. The surrounding view is very nice. High areas at a far distance looks photozenic. The vessel is safe and the journey takes about 10 minutes.

It is from here boats heading for babmbooflat and Mount Hariet leaves. Mount Hariet is the highest peak near Port Blair. Nice to see the ferries traveling carrying passengers and their vehicles through the sea in the evening.

Get on the ferry to goto Mt Harriet National Park. Rs 10 per person. Preferable option to go from here rather than by road. A safe slow moving ferry keeps rotating from Bamboo flats. It can carry vehicles upto 10 nos and atleast 20 motorcycles. It has also got an upper deck for sitting. The jetty could use some spruce up from the local authorities.

Chatham jetty is place to catch a ferry to bambooflat jetty, from there you can hire a jeep or car to go to Harriet hill top, on the way do not forget to take few photo snaps of sceen, which is printed on old 20 rupees note by India government.

If you do not want to travel by road and waste a lot of time and money, you will have to come here. Mostly local people travel ( at a very low rate) by this route to Bombooflat, Dundus Point. And Hathitapu and Mithakhari ( no ferry now). However this will be more or less obsolete when the Bridge (already started construction in August 2017) connecting Minniebay and HathiTapu becomes funtional.
