Located in the courtyard of the Hotel de la Marine, this is the classic place where you pay for the location and not for the gastronomy. During our lunch here, we experienced many negatives situations:1) my salad was described as raw and cooked vegetables salad but in reality this was not a salad but simply nr. 9 different types of vegetables, badly cutted and badly arranged in the plate, nr. 8 were raw and nr. 1 only were cooked (the eggplant). This horror costed 22 Euros, including a rotten radish.2) somebody (chef or waitress) forgot our order. When the waitress noticed that, she apologized but unfortunately we waited 40 minutes before eating our starter, even if the restaurant was quite empty.3) the waitress offered us some sauces for our hamburger. We said yes. Unfortunately the sauces arrived too late because we had already finished to eat the hamburger and the french fries. The hamburger was good but is too small! The water was not cold. The bread was good but is sipped. The service is distracting and impersonal, although the waitresses are kind enough. The coffee was ristretto, exactly how we asked for but the quality of the coffee is really bad.The cream of our dessert was dry and not creamy: it was definitely not a freshly made dessert...In short: for what reason should I come back here? None. The sensitivity of the Staff is zero: the waitress has seen all the problems we have had, but no one has made a gesture to apologize, perhaps offering a beer or a coffee. Typical french snobbish attitude, but, above all, typical attitude where the customers are mass and not individuals. Really not recommended!!!

Highly recommended. This restaurant opened in 1766 and is the oldest still-operational restaurant ever in Paris, and was also the first ever in Paris to be awarded three Michelin stars. With that said, some of the decor actually dates back to the 1800s and there were serious Addams Family vibes here, like look at that private dining room - basically haunted! The waiting staff were kinda eccentric too and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all undead. I kid. They were very attentive. Overall decor was pretty darn old-school opulent. There was a hallway full of b&w portraits of previous patrons including Jules Verne, Victor Hugo etc.Anyway, the dégustation menu was fantastic! Delicate but hearty and cooked with serious technique. The foie gras torchon was one of the best I ever had - rich but yet sweet and light.

So much fun. Beautiful building, very atmospheric and draped in so much history. The private dining option is very expensive but totally worth it and the food was better than we expected given the reviews - I had a delicious fresh crab starter and a nice bit of beef. The staff were kind and even humoured us by speaking French. Very romantic option for a special dinner.

Exceptional venue and service with polished, traditional French food. This place has a history spanning hundreds of years and its higgledy-piggledy layout of many rooms (salons) and rich decor is evocative of belle-epoque visions of Paris. We were for a private dining event and the service was exemplary for our 24 guests. Food was competent with some lovely touches. After dinner we had a tour of the rooms - noting the famous people who wrote, eat, entertained lovers, hid, did deals etc. There are many mirrors badly scratched in the rooms and this is from prostitutes (who were paid in diamonds) testing them against glass to check they weren’t being short-changed! I’m not sure how a non-museum manages to keep mirror walls for over 200 years but it was a great story. Painted ceilings, secret passages and excellent views over the Seine just added to a rather magic venue.Post dinner they reopened their bar and chatted with us until late became early. Impressive and friendly team - we’ll be back without a doubt!

We had such an incredible evening at this place. If you are ready to pay arund 140 Euro/person for a 4 steped meal (3rd is fromage in France) than you will have a grand time at this place. We would maby take off half a star (4,5 stars out of 5) because we didnt find the Foi Gras (Duck liver) that amazing, it was still very tasty. And the rest of our food was fantastic! Its sertanly the most beautiful place Ive ever had a dinner at.

This place is spectacular. The restaurant is split into multiple dining rooms over several floors of a gorgeous building. All are well appointed but have different atmospheres. The good news is the place is not just trading on its looks as the food is delicious. My wife and I shared the chicken as our main, which was perfect - nothing complicated about it, but just so tasty and masterfully done. The buttering under the skin and breadcrumbs took the dish to another level. Service was brilliant.

Perfect 40th Birthday Celebration.I was looking for the perfect restaurant with a private room and view in Paris to celebrate my 40th Birthday and Lapérouse did not disappoint.Organising the event from Australia by email was seamless and all my requests were catered for.The dining table for 16 guests was beautifully decorated, and food and wine were of the highest standard! The lunch started with champagne and canapés in the private dining room where we could all mingle and then we took our places at the table.Everyone was very happy with the food choices, we choose from a set menu prior to the event, we were not rushed at all and enjoyed the afternoon celebrating.Huge thank you to Audrey who helped organised the day and Edson and team who made sure all food and wine was plentiful, service was amazing.I would highly recommend for a special occassion, it was very memorable from all accounts.Lapérouse is a 17th century building, so definitely was unique with plenty of character.

The history of the restaurant is also incredible, narrated by a very knowledgeable server.Excellent service and very good food too. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Laperouse. It is an extremely beautiful restaurant and we were very impressed with the service we received. The waiter was very willing to speak to us in French once we told him we preferred it for practice, and he even scolded another waiter for speaking to us in English. The other waiter immediately apologized with a smile and kept on going in French, and I could tell that they appreciated our effort to speak their language. It was mid-January so there were only a few other couples there but the staff were all on the ball and our food was exquisite. I was even surprised by the bill...in a good way. We had several glasses of wine, mains, and desserts, all for a total of $250USD. Definitely not bad for what we received! I look forward to coming here again.

Being one of the oldest restautant in Paris, I was not disappointed by the charm of the place. The attention to service was impeccable with waiters speaking fluent English. The food was superb, yet reasonably priced. I recommend the souffle for dessert which was the best I ever had. We had our diner on the first floor facing the Seine river and some of the oldest and spectacular monuments in Paris. It was very romantic but I will also suggest the place for business diners or lunches since the place has also private rooms.Well definitely come back upon our next trip to Paris.

I recommend, recommend and recommend.Original, excellent, with that little smell of history wandering everywhere.Consult the menu in the photos. The Lapérouse restaurant is located in a former private mansion that belonged at the end of the reign of Louis XIV to François Forget, viscount then count de Bruillevert, grand master of water and forests. It was once inhabited by the geographer Renou de Chauvigné, known as Jaillot, author of a Histoire de Paris.Bought in 1766 by Lefèvre, the kings lemonade, this place became a wine merchant which prospered following the destruction in front of him of the Grands-Augustins convent and the construction on the site of the latter of the Valley market, specializes in the poultry and game trade. This restaurant, frequented by the agents of the market, their employees and their customers, acquired a reputation for the quality of the dishes served and the creation, according to an idea of Lefèvre, of discreet lounges in the rooms of servants on the first floor so that, in this insecure period, everyone can do their accounts in the greatest security.Around 1850, Jules Lapérouse became the new owner and changed the ornamentation of the small private rooms now decorated with paintings and mirrors with various themes (literature, love, travel). Popular with all of Paris, the restaurant was frequented by many personalities, including Maupassant, Zola, Musset and Hugo, who appreciated this privileged privacy.Since 2012, the new owners of the restaurant are Jérôme Schabanel and Grégory Lentz.
