A very fine dining experience in a picturesque bistro that hasn’t changed in 100 years. If you’re coming for lunch, skip breakfast — the food is lovely, but rich, and you should save room for cheese and dessert. Order wines by the carafe; the wine list is incredible, but priced to match. The staff could not have been kinder or more professional. A real experience.

It had a huge impact and revitalized the Michelin Stars that were becoming bourgeois and old. The gastronomic scene has to thanks this mouvement that is one of the 3 trends that shaped the last 10 years. But, what about the origin? The old school bistro?Well, here you have one of the oldest in Paris. You’ll notice that the ones who survived were quite high end (there are some wonderful bistro/brasseries from the end of the 19th and early 20th, they have wonderful ceilings, decorations etc…Extremely charming and some with very few tourists. I did a lot, I need to write the reviews once this is done). Still, as I explained for “la poule au pot”, it’s one of the hardest segment to get a star. You have to be manage by Alain Ducasse like this one to get a star. Why? Because it’s close to impossible to get a star for snails, foie gras, cassoulet etc… all this very traditional, not especially high end, not haute cuisine. And I have to thanks Alain Ducasse for putting his name out there to defend this part of the French culinary heritage.So what is it like? Very charming! You travel in time. The food is the very classical bourgeois (not haute cuisine like relais louis XIII), you ll get all the famous French cuisine: Snails, rillettes, foie gras, blanquette, boudins, profiteroles etc… it’s awesome! And it’s so difficult to find at a star level.Let’s be fair, if you want haute cuisine, or fashionable Bistronomie, this is not the place to go. But, if you want old school with the service and the atmosphere that matches: you’ve got a match!The crowd was family and friends. You can do business, but may be friendly like I did, because the food is the lightest and I do not see myself setting up a business eating sneaks… on the other side, I saw a French guy with his foreign wife bringing her relatives. They had fun.The dress code / mood: it’s relax but it’s just respect the setting: don’t be too relax.It does deserve its star, and I hope that others will help him fight for preserving this heritage.My experience: oh my good! I did not speak of the Savarin and the deserts! Watch my videos. It’s crazy regressive. I love it! Again not the classical étoilé but fun and good. I had a great experience. One week after, I’m still thinking of it. I guess I’ll do like the other French guy, I’ll invite some foreigners and we’ll have a blast.

We went for lunch and the food was delicious! Staff even provided us with extra treats. Reasonably priced Michelin Star meal. Desserts were a highlight and we left feeling very very full.

Went for dinner, and it was an amazing experience. The food was traditional and heartwarming. On top of the snails, beans, and steak, we also got cheesy bread, normal bread, and some desserts, complimentary. My favorite dish were the beans -- though Im not French, it tasted like home. The red vermouth we had was very complex and pleasant. The host was a bit eclectic, and overall the waitstaff was charming.The price was on the higher end, but a bargain for the preparation involved to make these dishes, and they were pretty big servings, Ive never been so full. The only surprising thing about the price was that a liter of water cost 9 euros -- the same price as a drink. But it was still an amazing experience and I would love to go again!

Tried the lunch formule. Wouldn’t want to eat there again. Maybe the à la carte options are good. I got served a joke of a salad for starter and a bitter grisly chewy stew for main. Service was really nice !

Traditional French bistro food at quite a good price during lunch. Food is decent and reasonably well-cooked, although my vichyssoise starter was criminally bland and not seasoned at all. Rabbit was cooked well and the mustard sauce was tasty. I feel like a little acid would’ve rounded out the flavors of each dish to a better direction, they were all quite rich. I don’t think the Michelin star is very justified, it seems to be handed out to this place solely based on its tradition and history.

Benoit is a 1 star Michelin restaurant and we really liked our experience here. The service and ambience was wonderful and food was delicious. The warm buttery bread rolls were delicious. We ordered scallops and another fish dish which was tasty. The cheese platter was my favorite with a nice selection of cheeses. For desert they gave us madeleines and homemade marshmallows, both tasty.

We went to Benoit to celebrate our anniversary. If you are looking for a Michelin restaurant that doesn’t bankrupt you this is the perfect choice. The food was exceptional and the menu choices were exquisite. We had wild boar, hare terrine and foie gras. Rabbit dish and sweetbread with truffles. Very rich dishes and didn’t have room for desserts. If you can’t finish your dish you can’t take it to go. I know it’s not common in Paris but definitely not this place. A fine dining experience and well worth it.

Great traditional French restaurant. The food is great, with some traditional dishes and some different ones. The lunch menu is a great deal. The service from all the waiters is great.

Love love love this restaurant! Went on a last minute reservation - service was great (our waiter guillaume was fantastic! Made our experience perfect!), food was delicious - steak was great and the morel mushrooms special. Very cozy, authentic French experience. Will definitely return and continue to recommend!

We went on a weekday lunch for their lunch deal, and it was super worth (especially given it is one michelin star!!). Everything from the cheesy bread on the side to the main dish to the lemon cake we had at the end was heavenly.

Main course was a little heavy for my taste. And desert was disappointing. Still a solid meal overall.

This place has dropped a long fall since Ducasse took over many years ago. Maitre dhotel is super arrogant, even to the locals. Selection is tired and unexciting. Wayy overpriced for what it offerred.

My wife and I had a fantastic lunch at Benoit. We opted for the lunch menu, which was very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was simply delicious and the wine was excellent. The only criticism was that the pomme purée was a bit shy of salt. We highly recommend this bistro and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Best birthday lunch! Chef Ducasse has a winning combination of timeless classics and polished staff. Cassoulet was incredible! Half portion is the way to go so as to be able to indulge in a bit of everything.

Great bistro restaurant for authentic French food. Its a little a pricey but great place for lunch when you just arrived in Paris and just wanna get stuck in with great food and lovely staff.

Beautiful classical Paris bistro by Alain Ducasse. Loved the interior and the reception was warm, super friendly. Gougeres to start, light and wonderfully cheesy. Foie Gras with brioche, excellent bread the pate was tasteless. Cassoulet de canard, full portion. Take a 1/2 one as this is an enormous amount of food. It tasted musty. Burgundy wine, they arrived with small straight up glasses instead of bowls. Ordered a second bottle, one of the glasses was stained with lipstick. Espressos tasted chicory like. Maybe I had just bad luck as my companions had good pate, excellent snails and wonderful black pudding with apple and mash.For me this was not a good experience and I wonder why this got a Michelin Star (maybe the association with Ducasse is enough).

A great restaurant starts with the food but goes well beyond that. At Benoit, the food is about as good as it gets. I had the fish but looking around, no matter what was ordered, the smiles were wide and the mmms were plentiful. The service is the best. Very attentive without being intrusive.

A classic with a great service

Although we booked the Lunch Menu, and not the a la carte, the daily maue was given upon setting, while the Lunch Menu was delyed for few minutes, and the recommended dishes was from daily (much more expensive) menu.The Lunch menu is great VMF, and the food is great (excluding the dessert which is somehow disappointing), and the service is efficient.

Had the lunch menu, nice traditional French food but maybe a bit over-rated?

Wonderful evening at Benoit. Ask to be seated in the front if you can. Our waiter was very funny a la Parisian and he had a great sense of humor!Make sure to try le pate croûte et le cassoulet. 2 très bon choix !!!!!

Amazing experience of french cuisine!!!Gourmet tastes with great environment.Prices are high but worth every euro!!!Service was exceptional as well.

While the food was delicious and the service was great, I have a hard time justifying the price tag on this experience. We ended up spending 85€ per person, three courses meal and a glass of wine, and I could not help thinking of many other restaurants in my experience that would offer a more unique, cozy or straight up better experience than Benoît for a more affordable price. Maybe it is the allure of a Michelin star, maybe it is the whole french experience. Benoit was not a let down, but it is not in my list of must-return either.

Super delicious food, the staff were also really friendly, and it was pretty reasonably priced for a Michelin star restaurant! The lunch menu was three courses and really filling. We had a great time and experience, would definitely recommend it :)

We visited this lovely restaurant for lunch with our 2 children (6 and 9). We shared 3 set lunches (€39 each for 3 courses). The whole experience was delightful. The interior is beautiful with lots of old original features. We got to try all of the things on the menu ordering 1 of each for our set lunches. Our daughters tried everything and loved most of it. Highlights were pigs trotter terrine, black pudding, skate with caper butter and the amazing mash potato. Puddings also went down very well, with an apricot tart a particular favourite. Wine list is pricey, but there were some reasonable half bottles which were good for lunch. All great quality. Enjoy!

Solid french fare, had their 39 EUR lunch menu which was really tasty and very filling. Everything was delicious but also very heavy due to the ample amounts of butter and cream.Would recommend for a traditional french lunch - its worth the price!

Service was exemplary and the food was good. 50 euro for a main and about 20-30 for a starter. Really well priced bottles of wine. Seems like its coasting on being an institution. I will say that Ive never been served so much dessert in my life, so that was an unexpected delight

Food and wine was wonderful, service needed to be reminded to return for our wine selection and final bill. Atmosphere was very pleasant. The chocolate was fantastic.

We had such a wonderful experience. The food, the service and the overall experience was Michelin Star worthy. The steak tartar was delicious, as was the Ox tongue. Will love to return next time were in Paris.

Oh my god. SO good! The flavors are amazing--my personal favorite is banana.Dont be put off if you see a lineup, it moves quickly and its worth the wait. Grab a cone and then sit by the Seine a couple blocks away to enjoy it! A quintessential Paris neighborhood, absolutely beautiful.

The staff was amazing and very nice. Food is mediocre for Valentines day special or any fine dining. Nothing special about the place no personality.

Best restaurant I have ever tried in Paris. Personnel was kind and professional, every ingredient and product is well chosen and thought. Even bread and butter were premium quality and the best taste. We tried the lunch menu and it was superb! and a bit more food than what we were willing to eat, but still everything was so good that it was a shame to left it.My wifes main dish was Cod and she was really happy with, it was perfectly elaborated and the portion was generous. My main dish was Capon, also perfectly elaborated, super juicy and soft.The restaurant still conserves its classic style and feeling, most of the costumes are still local Parisians, some of them not too kind. The place physically it is a bit small the ground floor is the restaurant and the upper floor is the cafe, so the seating is complicated, thus it is impossible to eat there without a reservation, We made our reservation for the restaurant online and the process is quite easy to elaborate. Punctuality is also important. Even though the staff is really kind and educated they spect the same from you. The service is quick and personalized.

Loved it here. Food was amazing. Staff were so attentive to us even though they were busy. Very well decorated throughout. Would visit Paris again just to eat here 😊

To be fair the food was good. But I felt that I could make it! I went to a Michelin star restaurant to be awed and paid through the nose to be inspired. There was no magic here. The menu literally said a piece of deer the next item said back of doe deer no more. I asked the waiter to explain the difference between the two dishes and he arrogantly said its like two completely different meats. When I pushed for more info he pointed at the doe deer and said it tastes like wild beef. There was no story about the ingredients, nothing. So I went with the filet of beef and my husband got the doe deer. We agreed mine was better. His was literally deer meat on the plate with average vegetables on the side. No art. Nothing interesting. If the Michelin star was awarded for the magic happening in the kitchen it certainly isnt shared with the patrons. Not worth the extreme price tag.

This was such a disappointing experience. We came for the lunch prix fixe, and while I recognize that is the cheap way of experiencing a high-rated restaurant, we still hoped it would be a good time. This place is clearly old-world fine dining, but the waiters were so aloof and disinterested in their patrons its a wonder that anyone enjoys this place. We poured our own water throughout the meal - not a big deal but speaks to the fact that they were not paying attention. Things started promisingly enough with a lovely baked cheese pastry which was melt in your mouth. Ironic that the thing we did not order was the best part of the meal. The first courses were fine: The snail fricassee was tasty but the poached egg with endives was flat. The main courses were mixed. The fish with mushrooms was so flavourless I was kind of astounded. Partner had the blood sausage which was nice enough and paired well with the apples. But the major disappointed was the dessert. I ordered the amargnac savarin with lightly whipped cream. Waiter absolutely doused the cake in booze - spilling it in the table and my cutlery - and completely forgot the whipped cream, which it REALLY needed to balance the boozy cake. It was completely inedible and after a couple of bites I gave up and pushed it away. We were never asked about aperitifs, tea, or coffee so we hastily ordered our bill and left. I think the servers were as happy to see us gone as we were to leave.

Nice, classic place and great service but avoid the set menu for lunch. It’s much cheaper than the rest of the menu, we assumed it would be smaller plates that were still good, but portions were big, bland and deeply meh.

Amazing food, great staff! Be prepared to lounge for a few hours to eat and talk. Service is traditionally paced for a chance to talk and catch up with family and friends, and there is no rush to turn the table at the end of the meal.

A rare combination of exceptional food and attentive, friendly service within beautiful surroundings. The lunch set menu is a must. I am fortunate to have been here twice and experienced truly incredible food on both occasions. Long may this continue!

Good traditional French cuisine

We had our dinner in this lovely restaurant. For a french restaurant is quite good in terms that they have a fixed price menu and the food is great. Good price/quality balance.

Service was pushy and slow, & another co-worker had to show the manager we had reservations.When the food arrived after waiting over 1.5 hrs, it was excellent but not excellent enough to justify the lack of quality service.

Classic brasserie next to Pompidou. I have been coming a handful of times for 20 years. The appetizers are consistently good: escargots, salmon gravlax, foie gras and pate remain strong. For the main course, I find fish tend to outperform the meat. Wine list has good choices at reasonable price though the sommelier was a bit useless. Service can be inconsistent, they at first treated our group of 4 Asians as tourists, trying to market expensive items, only to realize that we all know Paris and the restaurant quite well.

Clean establishment, conveniently located within the Louvre. Nice to get off my feet and sit down at a proper table. Staff did not really have proper hostess waiting out front. It was just as she felt to come over. Waited about 10 minutes and table was available. My waiter did not acknowledge me, I had to ask him to come over. Thereafter had to remind him to come over. I ordered this deal where you get main course, dessert and Evian (you can get wine instead) for 29.50. I had the salmon, rice and a chocolate pot w/whipped cream. It was OK at best. I wouldnt say its the best meal I ever had but three stars for being there and able to relax a bit. Michelin star? Who sets these standards? Its laughable.

Racial profiling is happening at this restaurant. As others have said, Asians are made to sit in the back, and caucasians are seated in the front.The food to be honest was quite average. Have had much nicer meals at a lower price in this beautiful city.

Benoit ParisLike a time capsule to your first trip to Europe, dishes from this classic bistro, which first opened in 1912, look like still life images from the *Time-Life* Foods of the World series. Think escargots bathing in butter garlic and parsley (and the warm baguette with which you sop every last drop up), cassoulet, pâté en croûte, Scottish salmon with Béarnaise sauce, seared scallops with leeks, a perfect cheese course, and even crêpes Suzette, if you can believe.

Stay away. Dont even attempt this place. Service is bad, food worse.

The quality of food is not what I would expect and does not justify the price tag by a long shot. Also felt rushed when half the restaurant was empty. Had better food at smaller shops in the area.

If you are in Paris and looking for a great culinary experience that will not break the bank, steer clear of this place! Excessive prices with mediocre food. In my humble opinion, the only reason the guys at Michelin gave this place a star is due to its attachment to the Ducasse name. On the other hand, if you are a tourist (American tourists in particular) and want to experience a Parisian salon that serves quintessentially French cuisine i.e escargot or fillet steak (with a side of mac and cheese for goodness sake), this is your place!

Never before have I been so rushed through a dinner. Entree and main meals were served and a dessert menu offered after 50 minutes of entering the restaurant. Escargots were rubbery and bland. Steak was ok, but for that price should have been great! Eaten at many Michelin restaurants, and wonder how this one ever received a star. Very disappointed!

Great value for your money. The set lunch menu for 39€ a piece is very delicious and my girlfriend and I where very full afterwards. The somalier was very helpful in picking wine that fit our menu, for a decent price.

Excellent black pudding main and Armagnac cake dessert. Good service. Overall, an enjoyable experience worth repeating.

Had dinner for two. Deserves 1 Michelin, quality service and delectable food. Could have been full after the terrine trio app, but made room for the incredible beef pot. Benoit does one dinner seating, so we had the table for the entire night, didnt feel rushed, and were right at home.

I enjoyed the food, but other people in my party (7 person) was not really happy. We book much in advance but the table was near the entrance and not in good position, two other people in the next table for a romantic dinner looked like they where eating with us.Waiter was rude sometime, specially joking on one of my customer for his nationality.

Classy and classic. Before even settling in, they serve you a pair of amazing cheese puffs. From that point on the service was top notch and the food met expectations for such a highly regarded place. Loved the escargot, langoustines and grilled fish. Despite not being hungry enough to order a dessert, they didnt let us leave without dishing out a couple of sweets.

Very disappointing, the prices are extremely high and quality of food was not acceptable. I had a dish of Hare, which still had feathers left in. Service became quite rude after we commented on the feathers left in a dish. We did write directly to the restaurant to provide our feedback to them privately, but received no response from them.Very disappointing that a place with this reputation can get away with such poor service.Many better options in Paris!

Extremely disappointing! We were so looking forward to what was sold as a Michelin evening, but it was so far from that. The food was bearly of a rosette standard, starting with amuse-bouche that was instantly forgettable to 3 courses of very ordinary food.The seating would have been more suitable in a waiting room. Efficient staff scurried around making sure that your experience was as swift as possible.All in all a truly “underwhelming evening at the Benoit”.

Great food, but was even better is how they treated our 3 year old son. It was a very hot day today and he fell asleep in the taxi on the way to dinner. He woke up in a mood and refused to eat or drink anything even though he was hungry and would feel better if he ate something. He was throwing a bit of a fit so I took him outside. One of the managers saw me outside and asked how she could help and if he would like to color. She brought him paper and markers which Im sure were not meant for coloring. They were highlighters from the office, but he loved them and slowly started eating. Bottom line, they went out of their way to make our son happy and in doing made our dinner an excellent experience. Thank you!
