Signature dishes: Despite his ever-changing menu, Passard has managed to amass a number of signature dishes over the years, some so famous that diners book months in advance for the first taste of white asparagus in spring or the arrival of black truffles in autumn. Other signature dishes include the dumplings, stuffed with seasonal vegetables, and the langoustine carpaccio with caviar.
An absolutely amazing experience. The food was delicious, inventive and beautiful - the service, impeccable. There is good reason the chef is legendary.
Commanded by chef Alain Passard, the restaurant earned one star in the Michelin Guide in its first year, and earned two soon thereafter. It earned three Michelin stars in 1996, which it has maintained since. It was voted the 8th best restaurant in the world, in The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants in 2018.Arpège is noted for being suitable for vegetarian and vegan dining.
Being a non-vegetarian I usually will never get satisfied with a meal (especially when it comes with fine dining). But I have to say I enjoyed this a lot more than the other three Michelin stars in Paris where they just put lots of truffle to everything. To me the original flavour of the ingredient is very important. Overusing truffle just kills the authentic taste to a dish. All the dishes here are mostly vegetables but they taste delicious and very well balanced. Highly recommend.
This was quite literally the best dining experience of my life. My wife and I did the vegetable tasting menu, and I did not miss the meat even for a moment. Each course delighted me and surprised me in a way I never expected. Chef Alain was at the restaurant and spent the time to visit each and every table. This was a magical experience that I will never forget.
Exceptional service and creative use of food. We did the chef dinner menu and were seated in the basement which was quite nice. The food was elegantly plated and beautiful. The experience was nice and the food good, although I found the menu and flavors to be a little repetitive. Specifically I think certain ingredients (beets namely) and some sauces seemed to be used in many courses. Wanted more diversity. Also, the meat course, pigeon, was inconsistent due to the serving of the whole bird to multiple tables. I had the misfortune of receiving two bone-in pieces (legs) which were quite small and difficult to eat without using my hands. On the other hand, my girlfriend had two nice pieces from the breast which were wonderful. The fish was, however, one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.Overall, it was a good experience but I expected a little more for €500 a person.
Best restaurant in Paris! I mean it. The service was perfect. Attentive and personable. There is a buzz of excitement in the dining room which adds to the experience. And the food is superb. I went for lunch and had the lunch tasting menu which was so much fun. You have. I idea whats coming next and everything was amazing. I loved the melon and mozzarella and the stuffed zucchini best although everything was exquisite. Thank you for an awesome experience. I will be back each and every time I go to Paris.
This restaurant is amazing excellent service and food it is pricey but I would expect nothing less from a 3 star Michelin. We had the vegetarian tasting menu and it was amazing I left very full and satisfied. The Chef proprietor is a great host and made us fell very welcomed over all 6 out of 5 stars.
This is the much anticipated restaurant I have wanted to try, and I was not disappointed at all. Our group was greeted by really warm and friendly staffs welcoming our arrival. They took our coats in and gave up stools to place our personal belongings. Some of us are allergic to different types of food such as dairy, gluten, apple and spices, and the restaurant was extremely accommodating. The surprise dishes with the adjustment was not just an afterthought. They were clearly thought out and nothing was felt like missing. The surprise menu consisted a wide range of carefully constructed vegetarian dishes with a great balance of the natural sweetness of the restaurant self grown vegetables. They really are taking the farm to table concepts to the next level. All the servers spoke really good English and made us feel at home. For me, the highlight was the beet tartare. The surprising earthiness and sweetness from the beet with the perfectly cut beet size to mimic the beef tartare texture topped with the carrot-horseradish cream to resemble egg yolk. This dish was just spectacular and really well thought out. The perfectly like coffee green cardamom icecream in freshly scope quenelle was just magnificent. It was creamy, light and refreshing all at the same time. The great Alain Passard came and greet us and talk to us for a bit was just a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. It was definitely three star Michelin worthy and an experience in a lifetime.
Google please give me more stars for such once in a life time experience? Can’t believe it’s not a perfect 5 for perfect food perfect service. We went there for lunch at 12:30, it’s almost 4pm and we are still there, 15 dishes, withoutcounting the deserts. Yes deserts with an s.We took the surprise menu trusting the chef who accommodated easily my no meat request. I shouldn’t be surprised, Alain Passard is a master of vegetables, taking them at another level. He himself came to greet the guests with so much warmth and simplicity. It’s true haute cuisine with simplicity (no dress code! Yay!)Will come again for sureThank you Alain, you are truly outstanding!
Food is creative and delicious, for taste and eyes. Pity is that they put us in the basement, quite small and crowded area and the waitress service is not as good as a Michelin restaurant shall be...
If you were to choose any one 3 Michelin star restaurant to visit in Paris , just go to Arpèpe.Probably the best meal Ive ever had.Generous portions and the food is sublime .The service is excellent
Awesome experience, every dish was so simple and natural, but you can feel the quality and originality, also you can feel the passion from the chef, and most probably you will get some photos with Chef Alain Passard, because he was greeting to everyone.
Simply the best culinary experience I have ever had. Words would not do justice, you just need to taste for yourself #bliss
Most of the food was very nice but found inconsistencies in taste and presentation in food. Service was average for M3 restaurant and the main server seemed too nervous or overwhelmed to serve 10 guests at the same time even thought he got some assistance from other staffs. Not sure if $1,000+ for two was money well spent for the experience of the night.
I truly can not say enough good things about Chef Alan Passards restaurant Arpège. It was on the expensive side, but what you would expect from a Michlain 3 star restaurant. The food was mind blowing. The way that Chef Alan works with vegetables is truly a work of art. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the service is truly top notch. I couldnt thank them enough for such a perfect evening.
Food was outstanding, vegetables never tasted so flavourful and delectable.
Horrible! Bored waiters in a cramped small room. We had the suprise menue like almost all the others around us. The biggest suprise was that everyone gets something diffrent and everyone gets their courses in a diffrent order as well. We hat no meat or fish in our menue suprise. But 3 diffrent zucchini soups which all tasted pretty much the same and were laking salt. Lunch took us over 3 hours and at the end we couldnt wait to leave. Had a wonderfull time in Paris with beautifull food (in other 3star restaurants as well). But here the 500€ and the 3hours were just a waste of time and money. Will never come again and would hardley recomand to anybody to spend their money somewhere else.
Wonderful food with creative recipes and warm/great customer service
We had shortlisted this place as we are vegetarians and had read about the chefs passion about vegetables. They had a vegetarian tasting menu that both of us opted for. Everything tasted great and we were really glad that we came here, except after the 8th course, finishing food in plate started to feel like a chore and by 10th course we could barely eat. If you decide to go there, do not munch on bread in the beginning- that fills you up a lot. Otherwise, a great place for vegetarian fine dining. FYI - fish is not part of vegetarian food here.
Special Michelin experience with no meat, it was quite interesting.
Truly the best experience in Paris. The food was original and very tasty.Service was also great.Thank you for the amazing time:)
Amazing lunch and chef Alain Passard was a delight
I really like the vegetarian dishes tho I am not veggie. The beetroot tartare is very nice and the chef came out to talk with each person
Amazing lunch.. vegetables like you never imagined!
There are moments in life that stay with you forever. This whole experience was one of them. Merci Chef!
3-Michelinstar restaurant with more than excellent dishes and impressive winelist. Professional service. Just one big WOW. A must for foodlovers
Creative and delicious with good servive
A truly amazing lunch - Chef Passard greets and visits his guests like they dine there three times a week. Fresh and seasonal wonderfulnees.
Disappointing, we have gone to 5 Michelin starred restaurants in Paris and it was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. It was not.worth the visit and I regret spending the money I did here.
The highlight of my time in Paris and the best meals of my life. Trois étoiles well deserved.
The best meal ever! The food was delicious. The ambiance was nice where we sat. The service was impeccable. The chef Alain Passard came around to the tables and was completely charming. I hope to have a chance to dine here again.
A truly great meal, possibly the most uniformly perfect food I have ever eaten. Every single dish of our 13 course meal was beautiful, completely different and incredibly delicious. Wine list had very broad reach in French wines with a good range of prices and the two sommelier made excellent suggestions in our budget range. The room is simple and elegant. Alain Passard came to every table and was charming and bubbly. My only comment was that the service wasn’t the perfect combination of ‘ever-present yet invisible’. They were very nice, but just didn’t anticipate our every need as I’ve had happen in a few other amazing restaurants. Highly recommended.
Truly exceptional experience and service. Couldnt think of a more perfect way to celebrate our honeymoon.
The restaurant understands all aspects of ingredients, pinpoints out unpleasant tastes, and only leaves their original harmonious tastes. Non vegetarians can try becoming vegetarian after trying at this restaurant.
This was the best meal Ive ever had. It really was borderline life-changing.I ordered the earth and sea tasting menu and my wife had the vegetarian tasting menu. The highlight courses for me were as follows... a cauliflower dish in a cream sauce, the lobster and the swordfish, and a dessert ice cream macaroon. The lobster was different than any other lobster Ive ever had. The biggest difference was in its tenderness. It was like the Kobe, center-cut, fillet of lobster, and even then the taste was on a completely different level.Alain Passard came out and met with us. I thought that he might based on other reviews Id read, and after having tasted several of his masterpieces, It was an honor to meet with the author of our dining experience.Any review I provide will undersell the experience we had, even if I highlight every dish. I didnt love every course, but the few I didnt love, I still liked okay. The pigeon was a little too taragonny maybe, and my wife wasnt a fan of the rhubarb macaroon, but nothing was bad. Overall, I had very high expectations, and Mr. Passard definitely exceeded them.
Amazing experience. One of the best meals Ive ever had. The butternut squash brought actual tears to my eyes. TEARS FOR SOUP?!?!
Blown away by this meal, the team at Arpege deserves 8 stars. Bravo for an amazing experience!
Top quality, but: 1) the service was a bit slow; 2) some ingredients like beetroots and onions were repeated in a couple of dishes; 3) location is not very inspiring
I would put 6 stars if I could. Food, service, quality and quantity, originality, presentation. All is here. Wonderful experience
Three Michelin star. A true celebration of fresh and organic vegetables
It was definitely an eye opening experience. It was interesting to see how much you can do with just vegetables. However it did seem like they use the same sauce/flavor on other dishes of their course menu.
Truly amazing.
Great staff, friendly chef, light atmosphere
Wonderful meal & great dining experience. My wife & I had the different menus so we could sample everything. Only 1 or 2 dishes were underwhelming, everything was superb. The lobster & scallop dishes were fantastic, and the vegetable options were creative & tasty. Nice to meet and get to have a chat with Mr. Passard as well.Service was impeccable throughout the meal.A great dining experience in Paris.
Out of this world experience with the main dishes. The lunch menu is worth it - lets you try the signature dishes at an affordable price. Decor, service, and desserts (the tomates confites and the millefeuille) where not the highlight. Highly recommended.
Come on an empty stomach. 👌🏼
Went there for lunch and had the tasting menu. It was well worth the price. Each course was amazing. Wine pairing on point. You will be full by the end so come hungry. The Onion Tart was especially crave worthy. Chef even came and greeted us which was a nice surprise. You can tell that they are passionate. Special place.
PERFECTION!!!
Three stars? Really? Then for me this place puts the whole Michelin rating system in doubt. The food is nice, but Ive had more inventive and flavourful vegetarian dishes in many other restaurants. The service is simply just not snappy enough, verging on amateurish at times. And when you add all that up and then look at the bill they give you... Ouch. To my mind there is just too big of a gap between price and value for me to ever recommend this.
Without doubt one of the finest restaurants I have been too, and arguably the finest 3 Michelin Star restaurant I have been to too.We had the lunch menu, which has the kitchen bring out whatever dishes they want. One thing I would recommend is that you do ask for a bit of customisation. If there is a particular dish you want to try, ask, and they can be flexible. By doing this, you are sure to get a fine experience. The service was excellent, and at the end of the meal, Alain came and spoke us in the restaurant, and he is a very pleasant and special man. Will certainly return.
Remarkable. Ive never had a meal quite like it. They do things with vegetables Ive never tasted before. A very special treat.
7 years and many Michelin restaurants later Arpege is still the best meal I have ever eaten in my entire life. Food elevated to art in every way. Eternal Gratitude for Passard’s dedication and talent.
The definition of fine dining. All of the freshest veggie forward dishes sourced directly from the chefs gardens and creatively assembled. A (costly) dinner if a gem in Paris that only runs Monday through Friday evenings, and the reservations go fast!
Wonderful creative food.
Absolutely amazing. We had the vegetable menu and I couldnt think vegetables could taste this good. The chef also talked to every table and was happy enpugh for photos for those that asked.Make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy the experience - highly recommend it.
Wow! So many 1 and 2 star reviews. Either people did not do their research before dining at LArpege, or they have ulterior motives. I have dined at LArpege a dozen times between 2004 and 2019. Every meal was excellent. Some of the courses missed the mark to be sure, but by and large, it is a legitimate 3 star Michelin restaurant. The service is usually spot on, although it is carried out by humans and therefore susceptible to error at times. Anybody who expect perfection 100% of the times is delusional. The prices should come as no surprise to anybody, as they are accurately displayed in the website. Alain Passard usually comes out and greets all his patrons with genuine interest. I can understand how a disappointed diner can give the restaurant a four star rating, even perhaps a three star rating. But 1 and 2 star ratings are highly suspect.
1st time we went was a few years ago. So amazing and pleasurable. Went back last week, also for lunch and ordered the lunch set just like all the other tables sitting tightly around us.I witnessed the waiters running in and out of the kitchen with plates in their hands because they have no idea who got served which dishes. They served us 2 exact dishes back to back. When I told the waitress (short hair, arrogant, been working there for a long time) she claimed it was a surprised from the chef. There were 30 min gaps between dishes for us as well since they have missed serving us couple of dishes when I saw them putting what supposedly our dishes on another table who were in the middle of eating their own food already. Not a care given by the wait staff.I have asked the same waitress what was going on... she once again dismissed my question as oh its a surprise from the chef, we never know what he serves.... Well, not so much of a surprise to me since I can see what others are having all around me (though orders of the dishes might be different) since they all ordered the lunch set. They are running the place like a very high price food court now...
Amazing food!
The service was great and we had some great dishes but over all the courses we had (vegetarian tasting menu & land to sea tasting menu) there were a couple of plates that were lacking something special. Somehow I did expect something more / something different. For 3 stars and the price you pay I hoped for a breathtaking experience what did not happen. There were even two dishes that were at limit in salt for me (and I am known as a rather salty eater). The richness, the freshness and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding but that’s something that should be out of question at such a place anyway.
Absolutely the best meal of a lifetime, wish I could add many more stars. Chef Passard is gracious and brilliant in many ways; his cookbook is marvelous!
No words except all a wonder eating in a magical french garden.
It was an amazing meal overall, but some of the dishes weren’t up to the standard you’d expect for 420€. And the wine program really needs an upgrade. Have a proper wine pairing menu and the wine list needs a much deeper selection interesting whites for one of the world’s foremost vegetable restaurants. A nice touch here is that the exceptionally charming M. Passard comes out to chat with his guests.
One of the best meals Ive had. The vegetable tasting menu was sublime. Truly a master of seasonal produce, with beautiful flavors and fine aesthetics. We went in early Spring, and the beets, rhubarb, asparagus were perfect. They even went out of their way to accommodate my 4 year old daughter with a child-sized tasting menu. The service was impeccable, yet extremely warm and friendly. Perfect experience.
So many courses! The lunch menu was good value, I would recommend asking for the meat or fish options, we had meat and it came with chicken. The waiting staff didn’t quite live up to comparable restaurants with this many Michelin stars, but the chef came out to greet all the tables which was a lovely touch.
The vegetarian course was much below expectation - perhaps due to limited winter harvest from the gardens? My wife had meat course and there were 1-2 dishes that stood apart. Not recommended for the cost. I do admire Allain’s passion and concept.
The food was wonderful. However, the service was lacking. We hadnt even finished our meal and one of our servers came up the stairs changed into street clothes and ready to leave.
I would give this zero stars if that were an option. Don’t believe the hype. No way is this a 3 star restaurant. We spent 400 euro for most inedible dishes that lacked inspiration or flavor. Their sushi was composed of three spoonfuls of mushy white rice with three thinly sliced pieces of zucchini and cucumber on top. The “sauce” was a couple drops of soy sauce. The eggplant in the ratatouille was inedible and bitter. The cost for the food for our entire meal was probably less than ten dollars. The fact that this was rated the 8th best restaurant In the world is a travesty. We felt swindled and hungry. Don’t go.
My daughter and had a reservation for dinner for 3 months in advance. We had an email confirmation. When we entered the restaurant at 8PM sharp we were told our reservation had been cancelled as they called my daughters cell to confirm and she could not be reached. Turned out they had used a phone access code for Great Britain rather than for USA. In addition we received the email asking us to respond at 10:20PM when our reservation was for 8PM. We were turned away at the door. Make sure you have alternate plans at the ready if you are planning to dine here.
Amazing!!!
My favorite restaurant. Hope to visit again someday.
Great service and venue. Food is less stellar compared to great Michelin star restaurants that are a third of the price including in Paris.
Was a delicious meal, for sure. Had the vegetarian tasting menu. It was just not as amazing as expected or compared to other five star restaurants weve been to. Service was nice but felt cramped and disorganized. Some dishes were spectacular but others felt they lacked focus and balance. A wonderful experience just not up to what I was expecting out of it.
One of the best meals I have ever had. We had Chefs specials for lunch - the number of dishes served is a surprise. We ended up having around 15 dishes that day!! So the expensive price tag actually quite okay. Fish was cooked to excellence - so tender and creamy. It was so interesting to see how creative you can cook your ordinary vegetables. If you decide to go and have Chefs special, definitely skip breakfast!!!!
French cuisine at it’s finest. Alain Passard himself went around greeting diners adding the personal touch to an otherwise delectable evening. The wine list is extensive as well!
Treat yourself to some of the best food Paris had on offer. You will be full but your wallet will be lighter
I dont know how this place hasnt got 5*s on Google from everyone.Best meal Ive ever has. When I tastes Alains carrots I was shocked that carrots could taste so carroty. It sounds stupid. But imagine being a baby and eating a carrot for the first time , it tastes of pure carrot. I dont know how he does it.Shout out to the lobster. And especially the Champagne Deutz , great stuff. If I had one qualm it would be the desserts from the tasting menu. They were good, but Im not really a desserts kind of guy so its a biased opinion.
Without a doubt the best meal Ive had in my life. I had previously been to Michelin starred restaurants, but none with more than one star. LArpege is a world apart from those other restaurants. My wife and I had the lunch tasting menu, which was eleven courses including the amuse bouche. Each one was interesting and flavorful in their own right. The most amazing was the creamy soup topped with the smoked herring foam. Given the description, I thought I wouldnt like it at all, but it the best soup Ive ever had. There were only a few low lights. The first was that our main entrees were not show stoppers. Both the lobster as well as the veal, were both very good, but not as good as some of the other courses. The second was one of the macaroons for dessert was filled with something... not sweet and was inedible. Lastly, we ordered Champagne to start the meal, which seemed nice until we saw that we were charged about 26 Euro per glass, which I think is a little steep for so-so Champagne.
As a service provider my self in the medical field, I like to shear some feed back about my dinner experience.1) I was seated on the basement close to the wall with an illumination floor lamp shinning my face all the dinner, that detail can be improve very easy.2) We decided to order appetizer, main course and desert for two but unfortunately after that generous bill, I was expecting a bit more flavor specially on the soup that we ordered.3) I ask your staff for a birthday dessert with a personal touch from the chief and we gotonly a single candle on top of the dish. Please take this words as a positive constructive criticism that will help improve your customer satisfaction. At the end when we provide and experience with service we need to connect to our customers to stay humble and progress with new creativity.Respectfully,
We went with the surprise menu for lunch and werent disappointed though we had high expectations of this restaurant and the chef. We expected only 10 courses of food, but after 16 we had to throw in the towel as we were too full.Vegetables shine in all their glory here. The food was innovative but always delicious. I enjoyed the hot and cold egg tremendously--I could eat 50 of those.A lovely touch was that that chef came by to visit each table after the meal.
Excellent meal that exceeded all expectations. Definitely worth a special trip. Service was outstanding, and the food was even better.
The chef is incredibly creative with vegetables. Each course was well laid out. The progression from the amusée to the soups through salads to the proteins, was excellent. The chef came out and greeted us all in the dining room. Making for an exceptionally pleasant meal. I would say even a magical evening.
We had a wonderful meal at Arpege. The tasting menu was as good as I have had. The Chef came around at the end of the night and spoke to all of the guests. The wait staff was very organized and kind. It is small but my wife and I loved our spot.
Amazing food, amazing culinary artistic experience. 5 stars indeed. Service: 2 stars, barely. The server kept dropping stuff, from bread to napkins. The plates were placed and immediately removed, due to some messed up communication between the servers. To add insult on injury, after the friandises were served, with zero explanations, the waiting staff kept us waiting and marinating for at least 25 minutes, without any contact neither a question, before we finally asked for a check.
