Despite some reviews of the service here being terrible, Ive had one good and one mediocre experiences so far.The younger lady behind the counter is extremely nice and helpful, speaking English and answering any questions. A slightly older older lady was more harsh but I still got what I wanted.Their palmier here is amazing and Id recommend it to anyone in the area. I brought it on a flight out and the young woman helped be wrap it and assured me it would survive my journey. She was right! And it was a hit.Had the mushroom soup which was overly salty and almost inedible although the flavour itself was good. Also had the croque pastrami which was decent.Prices are very good given the area.
This is our absolute favorite place in Paris to get a baguette. We will walk out of our way just to visit The Smithβs. The baguettes are not the only favorite, they also have an awesome apple pie. We found this place on our first trip to Paris. Just look around and notice the cafes with long lines, and locals popping in and out. This is how we found Smithβs!
The mini quiche here is better than the slices of large quiche. Raisin bread was delicious, but the tarte tatin was on the bland side. Coffee was good. There is quaint seating on the sidewalk but the street itself was a bit noisy and busy with delivery trucks, which ruined the atmosphere somewhat. The staff were very friendly.
Best brownie Ive ever tasted! The quiche is amazing. We ate there five or six times during our weeks stay this month. We had no idea it was famous or so spectacularly good. I will never forget those brownies. They were dense but light and all you tasted was cocoa and fresh butter.
Stopped in here with breakfast with a friend. We shared a large slice of quiche and each got a tea. We should have each gotten our own quiche....wow wow wow so delicious. This tiny spot has the best quiche. Dont miss out.
Please visit this bakery while in Paris! Itβs situated on a busy little street lined with cafes which make sitting outside such a treat! I ordered the Tarte tropΓ©zienne which was simply amazing! The young lady behind the counter said they work with a baker in San Tropez which is where this type of dessert is from. I had never had anything like it before. My husband ordered the raspberry tarte which was equally delicious! We complemented our desserts with a cafe au lait. Staff was friendly and bakery was clean.
What amazing bread and Baked goods I love itβ€Bready bread It is awesomeππ
I liked there opening hours. They have hight quality desert for good price. We tried eclair and cheesecake to go. This deserts wasnt too sweet. In the same time cheesecake was soft and creamy and eclair was really full of tasty custard.
Fabulous small bakery in the heart of Saint Germain. Everything here is perfect. The quiche lorraine is the best. Donβt be afraid with the huge line they are agile.
Palmier was unbelievably delicious, I bought 2 more of those to bring back to New York as a gift. Caramel and chocolate eclairs were good too. The quality of service depends on who is serving you. A pretty petite girl was very nice, friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. Other ladies were a little neglectful.
So many delicious options! Everything we tried was great - we even considered going back the next day for the quiche, which looked amazing. Staff was friendly and service is quick.
False advertising - a lot of websites enlist this bakery as one of the best bakeries in Paris but in my opinion that is not true. The sandwiches offered by this place were the worse I have ever eaten in my life. The bread was so hard that I could break a brick with it. Be careful.
Tasty.
Great desserts. Great location. Delicious gluten free options. The bakery manager is not friendly. Website indicates 11pm closing time, however after travelling an hr to get there were informed that the bakery is closing early. We were rushed to eat our desserts if we decided to eat there.
Great cakes, and the personal spoke English. The price was not to bad, but the coffee was nothing out of the ordinary. I would go again for more cake π°
I had a slice of the apple tart, and another of the banoffee. Just wow - they were both amazing, absolutely delicious.
Enjoyed my tea and cake. But I must say there is a huge choice of sweet and also savoury items. The quiches looked really good. My Earl Grey tea was branded mariage & frères. Quality! There are only a few tables outside to watch the world go by.
The Quiche Lorraine from here is amazing! The bakery has a nice French atmosphere when its busy around lunch time too.
Got the 10 Euro plan which Included (quiche/or a sandwich, a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, a drink(cold), and finally a dessert. The quiche was good I ordered the one with salmon, although it could have used a bit more salt. But the dessert! I chose the tarte tropezienne, and honestly itβs amazing!Iβd definitely come back here again in a heartbeat but Iβll probably chose something other than the quiche with salmon :)
A great experience. The best Tarte (aux figues) that I ever had in Paris. The place to sit is small but you cant complain. The staff is kind and the environment is classic and beautiful.
Great for a coffee and cake and far better than the average tourist cafes.
Loved this place. Named for a band, it is very Parisian despite the name. Each item is prepared with care and delicious. The quiche Lorraine was almost too rich.
Delicious food and affordable prices. Loved it
If youre planning a picnic buy your quiche and apple tart from here, you wont be disappointed.
Really delicious bakery goodies. Cozy place.
Good French breakfast! The croissant was perfect.
I was on a quest to try authentic quiche one weekend in Paris and I tried 6 different places and by far this one was the best I loved this avenue as well.
Was looking for a fresh homely feel bakery. Amazing food and atmosphere, friendly staff - if youre in paris this place is great for a quick hot drink and snack.
Great Parisian food and pastries, super affordable
We had lunch here and everything was delicious. Id recommend the fruity cheesecake and lemon meringue tart!
My friend and could not give enough praise for their blackberry tart and rasberry tart.
Desserts were good but nothing too special (we had the palmier and tarte aux citron). Make sure you know what you want before you go in, otherwise staff will be very rude if you take more than 5 seconds to decide.
First thought - wow. Then you spend an eternity trying to decide what you want from all that selection. Delicious! Seats are limited.
Faultless Service & possibly the best Chocolate Cake ever .
Dont be misled: its a french bakery with tons of options for sweet pastries and other foods. The name comes from the interior designer, who loved the band the Smiths.
Favorite boulangerie and patisserie we tried in Paris. Great place! Highly recommend.
Delicious and friendly service.
Great fast service and very tasty and satisfying panini. Not cheap but worth it.
Had the lemon meringue pie and it was absolutely delicious. Friendly and efficient staff, and still a lot of different baked goods at 8pm.
The banofee cake was yummy. Service was a hit and miss. Depends on how busy the day is. We got one good service and one bad service; the second one we ended up not dining at the place and left. not many sitting in place though.
Its always a treat to visit this gem of Paris. Their Flan is the best I have ever eaten anywhere.
Nice place , good food ... perfect for a small brake...
Wonderful!!I bought 3 sandwich, they were very very good. The sandwiches were particular, mine, that was giant, was roast beef, cheddar and cheese with black bread. The baguettes were very good.I suggest this place to anyone.I spent 20β¬ for 3 sandwiches and 1 quiches au samon.
Great food - we had a croque poulet, bagel with egg and bacon, quiche Lorraine, a sandwich sampler and a Nordic salad. Everyone in our group was happy with choices - food was flavorful and fresh. Staff was patient with our English and took time to make sure they got our order right.
Loved everything I bought from there and the staff were wonderful
Fabulous little bakery. Right in the middle of bustling Rue de Buci. Lovely tarte tatin and EXCELLENT Paris brest. Staff were very friendly even though my french est terrible! Highly recommended.
Great desserts. Good coffee. Well above average by Paris high standards
Really nice brioch buns worth the 3km walk with a 5 year old on my shoulders,
Perfect and easy escape on an adorable cafe row.
The salmon quiche is delicious! The service is nice and its in a good area.
Loved the meal! A true Parisian Cafe
Great pastries and coffee. Good place to sit outside and people watch.
Should have listened to the reviews on this one. Its the only spot with places to sit for a reason. Dry cakes, nondescript ice cream. If you want to people watch just grab a coffee or water. Food is unremarkable and they seem to make it a point to be unfriendly.
It was ok....the area is whats amazing because there are restaurants and Cafes everywhere around that area very private but popular area enjoyed it very much.
Tasty food at reasonable prices.
Lovely salmon quiche and salad
Lovely place, nice bakery, but not too much places!
Cheaper than surrounding shops. Excellent service. Merci!
Easiest spot to get Berthillion ice cream on Rive Gauche
The Smithβs has been a Paris staple of mine for several years. As a frequent visitor of the city - I come about twice a year for 4-5 days - and a croissant officianado - Iβve tried every bakery in New York City and have officially given up the search for even a mediocre version - I would consider this to be one of the best bakeries in Paris. It also happens to be located in one of the best neighborhoods in the city, and sits on one of the most quaint, Parisian streets you could imagine. Enjoying their delicious quiche Lorraine and cappuccino at the street side tables is nothing short of a perfect French experience. So why the 2 stars? One word - Service. With a deep understanding that European table service is very, very different to what Americans have come to expect, the women behind the counter at this haunt are as rude as it gets, and consistently. They slam things around, ignore you, ring you up while youβre half way through ordering, and roll their eyes when you ask questions. Now, I hail from Manhattan where on any given day of the week there are life ruiners just waiting to be nasty for no reason. So consider me relatively desensitized to this sort of behavior. What really rubs me the wrong way is that despite speaking enough French to easily get by in this city without needing to speak English, the employees here refuse to acknowledge me in French. In fact, they speak to me in English only, even as I continue en franΓ§ais, all the way through to saying goodbye as I leave the store. After this morningβs visit, I probably wonβt go back. The woman had the audacity to tell me that sheβd rather speak to me in English, despite her being native French and my strong speaking skills, because she was still asleep! I said, in French, that I was learning and would appreciate if we could speak in French, and she still refused. Then, she proceeded to make fun of me to her coworker - in a language Iβve just told her I understand! For a country with a reputation for treating foreigners who donβt make any attempt to speak the language with contempt, this was par for the course. My typical experiences donβt substantiate that stereotype, however, this experience left me questioning whether there was truth to it after all. I was shocked, completely disheartened and nearly walked out on the spot.In summary: Would recommend the food any day of the week, however, the service standards have worn me down to a point where I wonβt be returning. I hate to say βAmericans, bewareβ, but the staff has certainly left me feeling that way.
Coffee is not satisfactory. Apple tart is ok
Lovely place for lunch in Paris. The food was great!
Great breads, not too sweet and delicious
The banana cake was really good
Grumpy staff. Coffee awful out of a machine but the cakes and quiches are lovely.
Sorry cant give it 5 Stars as not really here. I dod walk in and then across the road where service was OK but could not offer WiFi so logged onto Smiths
Elderly woman was so rude to us when we were ordering berthillon gelato. The serving was also pathetically the smallest Petit berthillon weve ever been served. Lame.
Gluten free brownies and other beautiful things.
Very nice coffee and deserts. Chocolate ice cream is to die for.
Excellent food! Expensive but very good quality! The best crumble in Paris!
The most amazing chocolate cake ever!
Fresh cheesecake is very good.
I used to like this place quite a lot but lately the service have been disastrous the staff is rude and the quality of the food has become quite awful. Its sad because this used to be my go to place!
Nice small bakery. Great sandwiches and Bagles. But also many tasty cakes. I love the Pistachio one, thats my top. Also the location is perfect for sitting and relaxing an afternoon and watching people passing by in the always crowded rue de Buci. They also sell great gelato on Sunny days ;) Just more expensive than Grom or Amorino nearby. In case you dont want to make the usual line their Gelato is also very good.
