This pond is used for the Aarattu function of Devis idol on Thalappoli day. This pond helps in the water availability of the adjacent areas as the pond is with water throughout the year. There is a small Kulappura also

The Chinakathoor Bhagavathy Kshethram (which I visited in the summer of 2017) is located about 5 km out of Ottapalam town in the middle of a huge ground where the annual പൂരം (Pooram) festival is conductedIt is comprised of two temples, the താഴെകാവ് (the lower shrine) & the മേലകാവ് (the upper shrine). The latter is believed to be the older temple in terms of chronology.There is also a small shrine dedicated to Lord Ganapati at the foot of a large aged banyan tree on the premises.

One of the main Devi Durga temple in ancient Valluvanad taluk,now ottapalam taluk. The annual pooram celebration is conducting on makam star in kumbam of Malayalam era. This year it was celebrated on 8th March and lakhs of peoples gathered for the celebration this year also. The west side of procession with elephants, horses,and tablos starts from ottapalam town and will reach the temple. In that 5 kms peoples will gather to see the procession. This type of processions will came from the other sides also. Around 30 elephants will participate in this festival. It is one of the main festival in ottapalam area.

Chinakkathoor temple is one of the famous temple in Kerala. Chinakkathoor Pooram is also a famous festival celebrating every year. Kuthirakali (horse play) is the main atraction of pooram. Temple renovation works are going under malabar devaswam board. Pilgrims who are coming from distant places can take bath in temple pond. Toilet fecilities also there. But a night stay near the temple is a question mark. Hotel Vaisakh is a Good vegetarian hotel opposite to the temple and it is one of the favorite for many.

This is a famous temple in palakkad, situated in palakkad -kulappully state highway. Its temple festival (pooram)conducting every year in month of feb-march is too good and a huge amount of mob will come overthere. Programs related to this festival will start one month before only. During the day of festival state highway will be blocked from vaniamkulam to mangalam of about 11km. 30-35 elephants will be there for the festival. Chenda, and all kind of instruments will be there for the festival. People from all religion will gather in festival ground, which showing a sign of religious harmony. Shops in ottapalam,pathirippala areas will give discount for dress, commodities etc for one month during this festival period.

That was my first trip to Palakad, n for first time m visiting a grand festival (Pooram) ever seen. M so thankful to my dear friend and his family taking the responsibilities having me with them...there were so many beautiful events like kummatti, aanapooram, kuthirakali, pakalpooram, vedikettu(fireworks), n so many things I actually cant memorize all..there were more than 20 elephants for aanapooram (Aana in aanapooram means elephant). Kuthira means the horses where they make huge models of horses...

Lived the ambience. Pradikshina path being constructed. I contributed.One of the best vegetarian hotel available for breakfast
