I visited Qutb Minar with my college friends, entry fee was low and we started clicking selfies as we went inside the complex. It is accessible by Metro and Bus, Qutb Minar has well cleaned complex and lush green lawns. We saw a lot of foreigners along with local guides who were gaining knowledge about Indian History, I too got some great clicks shot at the Monument. Its a great place to visit, whether you want to spend time with family or friends, its one of the best places in Delhi to hangout. It closes at 5pm so once has to be a bit early in his/her visit. It’s good to visit in Winters as Delhi becomes too hot in summers.I traveled from Huda City Center in the Metro and it took me around 30 min to reach Qutb Minar metro station. It has ample number of shops at the entry point so one doesn’t have to worry about food and water.Safety could be a concern for someone visiting for the first time as some people would try to get your money by telling you that their family has lost their homes or they missed the train and then they will try to make you emotional for their poverty.Better stay away from any malicious person or group of persons.I dont recommend visiting it during the weekends as it becomes too crowded but during normal week days.Overall I had a great experience and its a nice place to hangout.

Ticket:- 40₹ (30-01-2021) for IndianIf you are in delhi, must visit Qutub Minar. Qutub Minar built in the early 13th century a few kilometres south of Delhi, the red sandstone tower of Qutb Minar is 72.5 m high, tapering from 2.75 m in diameter at its peak to 14.32 m at its base, and alternating angular and rounded flutings. The surrounding archaeological area (campus) contains funerary buildings, notably the magnificent Alai-Darwaza Gate, the masterpiece of Indo-Muslim art (built in 1311), and two mosques, including the Quwwatul-Islam, the oldest in northern India, built of materials reused from some 20 Brahman temples, a 7.3 meters tall Iron Pillar stands in the middle of an empty square in the Qutb Complex, which also houses the jaw-dropping Qutb Minar, in Mehrauli. But take a closer look and you will see why this pillar is one of the most enigmatic structures in India. Made of iron, it should have turned into a pile of rust a long time ago, considering its age – it is 1,600 years old – and exposure to Delhi’s heat, dust, cold and rains.

One of the important historical monuments in India 🇮🇳 and one which I was waiting to see from my school days. Has an amazing history regarding the building, renovations. Interestingly this one is built after destroying some 27 hindu and Jain temples. This was built to mark the beginning of Delhi sulatanateMode of transport - there is a bus stop right in front of the compound. however we went there by a cab as we dont understand hindi and its easy to manage a cab driver with English.Best time to visit : winter season. We made the mistake of visiting there in May month. 😭 Scorching heat literally kills you. Couldnt stay there for more than 10 minutes.Attraction: the complex has multiple small buildings which we didnt bother about much. We just took photograph in front of the main Minar. If its a cool climate, we can surely go and roam around muchMust -Water bottles and sun glasses.Irony - people are not allowed inside the minar as in olden days due to some freak accidents in the pastAnd the ticket counter guys are not so well versed In English. Govt needs to take care of this.Ticket prices are cheaper online. 35rs per person.Once you come outside, you can see people thronging for something cool as the weather is too hot.

What to say about this place💖💖 Qutub minar is always a favourite place to hangout and enjoy even solo. This place is best to discribe words like beautiful, historic and calm. Although it is almost every time crowded still one can find place to sit calmly and peacefully meditate or just sit just like that. It has five superposed storeys. The lowest three comprise fluted  shafts or columns of pale red sandstone, separated by flanges and by storeyed balconies. The fourth column is of marble, and is relatively plain. The fifth is of marble and sandstone. The flanges are a darker red sandstone throughout, and are engraved with Quranic texts and decorative elements. The whole tower contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps.

Delhi’s Qutub Minar is a five-storied structure constructed over four centuries by a number of rulers. It was originally commissioned by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, who was the founder of the Delhi Sultanate, around 1192 as a victory tower. The minaret is named after him; although he wasn’t able to build it beyond the first story. His successor Shams-ud-din Iltutmish added three more floors to the structure in 1220. Its topmost story suffered damages in 1369 due to lightning. It was reconstructed by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, who added the fifth and final story to the tower while the entrance to Qutub Minar was built by Sher Shah Suri.

The origins of Qutab Minar are shrouded in controversy. Some believe it was erected as a tower of victory to signify the beginning of the Muslim rule in India. Others say it served as a minaret to the muezzins to call the faithful to prayer. No one can, however, dispute that the tower is not only one of the finest monuments in India, but also in the world. Qutab-ud-din Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi, commenced the construction of the Qutab Minar in 1200 AD, but could only finish the basement. His successor, Iltutmush, added three more storeys, and in 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak constructed the fifth and the last storey. The development of architectural styles from Aibak to Tughlak is quite evident in the minar. The relief work and even the materials used for construction differ. The 238 feet Qutab Minar is 47 feet at the base and tapers to nine feet at the apex. The tower is ornamented by bands of inscriptions and by four projecting balconies supported by elaborately decorated brackets. Even though in ruins, the Quwwat Ui Islam (Light of Islam) Mosque in the Qutab complex is one of the most magnificent structures in the world. Qutab-ud-din Aibak started its construction in 1193 and the mosque was completed in 1197.Iltutmush in 1230 and Alla-ud-din Khilji in 1315 made additions to the building. The main mosque comprises of an inner and outer courtyard, decorated with shafts and surrounded by piller. Most of these shafts are from the 27 Hindu temples, which were plundered to construct the mosque. It is, therefore, not surprising that the Muslim mosque has typical Hindu ornamentation. Close to the mosque is one of Delhis most curious antiques, the Iron Pillar.

Beautifully landscaped gardens, lush green lawns and a majestic tower in the centre, the Qutub Minar welcomed us as we walked into its premises. Made of red and buff sandstone,it is one of the highest stone towers in the world and certainly a sight to see. The architecture, splendour and craftsmanship — everything looked alive. The iron pillar in the premises —which had stood the test of time without rusting — was certainly a wonder.Considering its strategic status in Indian history,UNESCO has declared the Qutub Minar as a world heritage monument. Arguably one of the most pivotal monuments,it symbolises the continuity of invading powers in India, and the Minar is inevitably associated with Mughal rule in India. It was constructed to overwhelm and subdue the native populace. As a visible and potent symbol of power,it continues to play an axis role in the Indian political psyche.History:The Qutub Minar is the world’s tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 metres. It is one of the earliest and most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture. Surrounded by several ancient and medieval structures,it is collectively known as Qutub Complex. It is recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Qutub Minar is made of red and buff sandstone. The minaret is made of red sandstone covered with intricate carvings and verses from the Quran. The iron pillar in the courtyard bears inscriptions in Sanskrit and Brahmi script. Standing in the Qutub complex,it is one of the world’s foremost metallurgical curiosities. Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque,to the northeast of the Minar, was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in AD 1198. It is the earliest mosque built by Delhi sultans.

An amazing historical place I ever visited. I will record the stories and w ill tell to my colleagues at home back. Qutub Minar is indeed an eye catching monument. Its amazing. The tall Minar stands firmly on ground and kisses the sky. Its a must visit monument. Book ticket online to enjoy hassle free entry. You can hire a government approved guide from the main entrance. After 2 hrs of sight seeing if you feel like eating something, you may enter Qutub Restaurant, not far from Qutub Minar. Food is good there

Historical Landmark of India:Proof of Architectural perfection and it still stands. The buildings that were made in early 90s can get demolished easily but there monuments cant be, because of the firm architecture and perfect dynamics which was blueprinted exactly the way it is. Govt. of India has made multiple efforts to ease tourists with restroom facilities and shades. The iron pillar has its own historical importance and there is a way to worship the iron pillar. Please read up about the place before you go.

Beautiful place. Never miss a chance to visit this place if u are in Delhi.Few tips to those who are visiting1. 1 km from nearest metro station. U can walk or either take a rickshaw.2 . There was only online booking for tickets. Keep your google pay or paytm ready😁 ( btw they are overpricing foreigners, it’s around 500 rs for them where it’s only 35 for indians🙄3 . Don’t forget to take your short lenses4. It’s a nice from when there are planes ✈️ in the sky( there is an airport nearby)5. Keep your tickets safe ( it will be asked while exiting, ₹. 100 if lost😌)6. Wait there till they put up the lights (it’s so beautiful and missed it and had only a long view from metro station. So wait till 6.00pm ).Overall it was a beautiful experience to visit qutub minar. Lots of frames 🖼. Beautiful architecture, nice garden, lots of birds and squirrels. A memorable place ❤️

Built in the early 13th century a few kilometres south of Delhi, the red sandstone tower of Qutb Minar is 72.5 m high, tapering from 2.75 m in diameter at its peak to 14.32 m at its base, and alternating angular and rounded flutings. The surrounding archaeological area contains funerary buildings, notably the magnificent Alai-Darwaza Gate, the masterpiece of Indo-Muslim art (built in 1311), and two mosques, including the Quwwatul-Islam, the oldest in northern India, built of materials reused from some 20 Brahman temples. The construction of the Qutub Minar was started by Qitub-ud-Din Aibak, but he only constructed the basement. The construction of the tower was later taken over by his successor Iltutmish who constructed three more stories. The last two storeys were completed Firoz Shah Tuglak.
