One of the most important historical place in India. The India Gate built in 1931 and designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe. It commemorates Indias war dead and houses an eternal flame. Beautiful architecture ,Evening time is best to visit. Free entry.

For me, India Gate will always be one of the most beautiful landmarks in the world, no matter what time you visit it.Looks different when you look in the morning and different when you look in the evening.Millions of tourists come here from abroad.A great place to hangout with friends, family of any age group. The morning dawn breezy air and the natural lightning or the evening dusk cold air and the artificial lightning are the two great. The India Gate, Delhi was originally known as the All India War Memorial. It is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, Delhi on the eastern edge of the ceremonial axis of New Delhi. It stands as a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in between 1914–1921 in the First World War. It is a very good place to visit with your family and loved ones. The surrounding are neat and very well maintained. The place is easily accessible by various means of public transport including Metro. The evening lighting is great and a must watch. There are park in front of India Gate with options for boating. The street food vendors also offer a lot of choices.

I visited India gate on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. There is plenty of space for parking vehicles but isnt well maintained. Sadly, no proper washrooms. We cant go near the monument. There is plenty of Garden area so you can have a picnic and spend time with family. And we as visitors can do our bit by using the dustbins for garbage. You will also find people selling key chains, balloons and also tattoo artists( not sure how safe they are) and ice cream vendors. Overall a good place to visit on a weekend with family.

India Gate is a place that sees thousands of people every day, and it gets a more beautiful day after day. This place was established in the year 1921, and in such a few years, this place will celebrate the establishment of 100 years. While roaming around this wonderful place there are so many fun things that you can do here and there are some things that anyone can do:Especially in India or Delhi, this is one of the best places to enjoy a picnic with your family and friends. This place is also perfect for keeping some wonderful time for the children. Children get many intersections, toys and other recreational items at the door of India and thus it is considered a favorite place for many children. There is also a type of water sport in India Gate which is known as sailing. For many people, sailing can be very boring, but sailing is a great practice for every person along with a very cute close time. This is an ideal place for everyone to enjoy their nightlife because Indias gate is one of the best places to go to India during the night. The decoration around the wonderful gate, lights and aroma makes an ideal place for any birthday party or open air small music events. The Parliament House is located opposite the entrance of India, and thus one can benefit from enjoying the view of two amazing buildings at the same time. These were some of the advantages of visiting the Great India Gate in New Delhi, which is the capital of India. India Gate has plenty to give to its visitors, but still, it is seen that different people think that this place is quite boring. But once the person touches the monumental monuments, he will definitely fall in love with it.

The India Gate was part of the work of the Imperial War Graves Commission (I.W.G.C), which came into existence in December 1917 under the British rule for building war graves and memorials to soldiers who were killed in the First World War[3] The foundation stone of the gate, then called the All India War Memorial, was laid on 10 February 1921, at 16:30, by the visiting Duke of Connaught in a ceremony attended by Officers and Men of the British Indian Army, Imperial Service Troops, the Commander in Chief, and Chelmsford, the viceroy.[4] On the occasion, the viceroy is reported to have said, The stirring tales of individual heroism, will live forever in the annals of this country, and that the memorial which was a tribute to the memory of heroes, known and unknown, would inspire future generations to endure hardships with similar fortitude and no less valour.

At  the centre of New Delhi stands the 42 m high India Gate, an Arc-de-Triomphe like archway in the middle of a crossroad. Almost similar to its French counterpart, it commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I. The memorial bears the names of more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers killed in the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war of 1919.The foundation stone of India Gate was laid by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught in 1921 and it was designed by Edwin Lutyens. The monument was dedicated to the nation 10 years later by the then Viceroy, Lord Irwin. Another memorial, Amar Jawan Jyoti was added much later, after India got its independence. The eternal flame burns day and night under the arch to remind the nation of soldiers who laid down their lives in the Indo-Pakistan War of December 1971.The entire arch stands on a low base of red Bharatpur stone and rises in stages to a huge moulding. The cornice is inscribed with the Imperial suns while both sides of the arch have INDIA, flanked by the dates MCMXIV (1914 left) and MCMXIX (1919 right). The shallow domed bowl at the top was intended to be filled with burning oil on anniversaries but this is rarely done.During nightfall, India Gate is dramatically floodlit while the fountains nearby make a lovely display with coloured lights. India Gate stands at one end of Rajpath, and the area surrounding it is generally referred to as India Gate.Surrounding the imposing structure is a large expanse of lush green lawns, which is a popular picnic spot. One can see hoards of people moving about the brightly lit area and on the lawns on summer evenings.

IntroductionThe India Gate is located in the center of New Delhi, the capital of India. It was made by Edwin Lutyens In 1921. This landmark in Delhi commemorates the members of the erstwhile British Indian Army who sacrificed their lives fighting for the Indian Empire in the Afghan Wars and World War.After India got its independence, India Gate became the site of Amar Jawan Jyoti -Indian Armys Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is counted among the largest war memorials in India. The Shrine of the Amar Jawan Jyoti is burning since 1971. It represents the flame of the immortal warrior that marks the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The shrine is made of black marble with a rifle placed on its barrel. This rifle is crested by a soldiers helmet. The words- Amar Jawan (Immortal Warrior) is inscribed in gold on each face of the cenotaph which is placed on an edifice. The edifice has four torches on its four corners, these torches are kept alive. This shrine of the India Gate in Delhi was uncovered on January 26, 1972 by the Prime Minister of India during that time- Indira Gandhi. Since then, it is customary for the President and the Prime Minister to pay homage at the site during State ceremonies. Even while guests visit the state, they come here to visit the India Gate in Delhi India and pay homage at the site.

If you’re flying to Delhi, you can probably spot this architectural beauty, India Gate, through your flight’s window on a clear day, or when it is beautifully lit up during evenings.India Gate is one of the best tourist attractions In Delhi. The monument is of great importance in history of India.I love this place while rainy and airy season. The cool breeze makes you fresh and the people spending time with their family gives you nice vibes. The golgappas and other street food is low on quality there, but still you will enjoy having some of them at the time.If you have a little kid inside you, you will find yourself buying some crazy things to play over there. But for some people it can be just a big gate standing over there and nothing else to see and enjoy. So depends on individual interests that someone will like it or not.Kindly visit in the evening around 5 oclock.

My second visit to the place and this place is a must visit place. The shops near the place are good. Just remember to apply some kind of mosquito protection cream or anything like that to avoid mosquitoes as the place has lots of them which will always disturb you.
