AVOID THIS PLACE! We went to the train station to try and book tickets we knew were available online but could not book due to having an international bank card. We were shepherded into a tuktuk and told we had to book them here. We knew exactly what trains we wanted and have done this many times in the 6 weeks weve been in India. We were rushed into a back room and quickly told that none of the trains we wanted (2 weeks in advance) were available and there were no other trains we could take. We were then told that we should have known to book sooner (we had explained that we needed these trains as our flight had been cancelled). The man we dealt with was rude and completely unhelpful in any way. We showed him that the tickets were available online but he bluntly dismissed this saying they were booked and simply told us to get buses. We left confused as to why tourists would be sent to a reservation office that seemed determined to be as unhelpful as possible. Do not listen if you are told to go here to book tickets - we got the exact tickets we had seen online elsewhere (at the travel desk in the Gold Regency Hotel) with absolutely no hassle whatsoever, take your money there instead.

This is a genuine govt approved tourism agency, not a scam. I was recommended to this agency by my hotels tour desk becos it doesnt do tours for solo. (Location: opp Shivaji stadium metro) Prices are unbelievably cheap.I took a day tour of Delhi. Less than 500 rupees covering 7 itineraries! Almost all clients are locals from different parts of India. Only I and another guy from Mauritius are foreigners. Tours are conducted in English, with 2 guides. Bus is huge and a/c. Very comfortable. Staffs are honest and reliable. You can also make bookings online!👍👍👍

*ANOTHER SCAM STORY*Our story is the same as most others in this thread. We were directed here by a man wed met on the street who told us to visit this Department of Tourism office to get maps and help us plan our trip. Even though wed already done our research and knew where and how we wanted to go, we thought having some additional insight couldnt hurt...what a waste of 45 minutes. The guy in the office seemed nice at first and told us he would lay it all out for us, but it was ultimately our decision which to choose. When we told him we were set on taking the train, he tried to show us that all of the routes we wanted were booked already and unavailable to us; he also told us that we were not allowed to book the General Quota (which was wrong). This was all to try to get us to book a private driver for $250. He started getting annoyed with us when we told him that we wanted to look on our own. We ultimately left, went to a coffee shop, and found the trains we wanted online.Booking through IRCTC is a little annoying as the website is temperamental, but at least we got a fair price for the exact train we wanted. After leaving here, we stopped in another tourism office to get a map and quickly realized it was the same type of scam. The man got pretty angry when we insisted we simply wanted a map and wanted to leave. Stay AWAY from these places - if it seems scammy, it probably is.

I will start by saying I never used this company, however we were lured here by a very friendly, well dressed, well spoken street agent who started up small talk with us at a coffee shop. He gave an elaborate story about his home town, job, partner etc to win our trust. He gave us lots of “insider” travel advice and told us about these new rail passes and travel passes the government was issuing. He offered to lead us to the “official government India ministry of tourism office” on his way to work. Then he lead us down an alley to a dingy shop front and we knew we’d been sucked in. We were all but pushed inside by a gaggle of men. once we were in the street agent stuck around and obviously knew all of the other men in there. So much for being on his way to work. We felt very outnumbered- 2 to maybe 6 or 7 men - and had a hard time convincing them to let us leave. We ended up having to make up an elaborate excuse to get out of the office and they still tried to put us in their personal “taxi” to drive us back to our hotel. We took off on foot and the original guy then followed us for about 15 mins “concerned” for us. It was a bit scary. I don’t know what sort of service they give if you buy from them - if any - all I know is they rely on lies and scams to get you in their office and are pretty intimidating and unwilling to let you go easily. Watch out for any men on the streets of Delhi carrying 2 phones or purporting to know where the “real” ministry of tourism office is.

SCAMMERS! DON’T BELIEVE ATUL ANAND PANDEY, he is the one who scammed us!! This is not a government office!!! And don’t believe the reviews from local guides either, they work directly with DTTDC. Foreign tourist beware of DTTDC, they will scam you if they can. And probably the scam will be done in different ways, so watch out. I’ve met more travelers that were scam by DTTDC. In our case, we were sent there from one of his “commisioners” in Delhi Metro station. He told us that our Homestay area was closed because of some protests and that we needed a permission from goverment to enter the area which was secured by police, all this wasn’t true. When we arrive to DTTDC, they inmediately told us we should leave Delhi and book a taxi with them at a great price guaranteed by government. The DTTDC agent called our Homestay and told them to tell us we should leave the city and that there is no other hotel or hostel we could book because they were all in the protest area. We insisted and told the DTTDC agent to help us search for another hotels in Booking, so he was calling each hotel before we could talk to them, probably telling them what they should tell us. Then, each hotel was advising us to leave the city with a taxi. Some hotels even told us there is vacancy when we could see perfectly how many rooms were available in Booking. I don’t even think he wa actually calling any hotel, probably he just called some of his friends. In the end, due to lack of options and all the danger that the DTTDC agent awarned us if we stayed in Delhi, we agreed to pay a taxi to Agra. Here, we talked with others travelers that were scammed by DTTDC. It is a shame that a governmental tourism agency scams people with impunity, so we should let everybody that they are not reliable people and just scammers. So please guys, watch out, never book anything with them, don’t even allow them to talk to you because they will make anything up to make believe their story. In case you suffer this kind of scams from official tourism agency, contact your embassy to put some pressure on them and if you are lucky you’ll get your money back, so far we are not that lucky but we’ll continue denouncing in all social media the DTTDC scam agency.

Stay away from this company they will rip you off at every corner. They will show you photos of hotels they plan to book you into and when you arrive you will be staying in horrible dirty accommodation and paying way above the going rate. We had a driver for part of the trip who robbed us he stole a mobile phone out of my wifes bag while we were eating. They will bring you to all the most expensive places to eat as they are on commission. Our driver tried to rip us off by trying to charge us for a free fort trip by offering a guide for FREE when told repeatedly we didnt want to pay for a guide he told us no problem it was for free the government pays for the guides. We tipped the guide at the end and were told we didnt pay enough by our driver and we needed to pay him more.. when we would not pay the FREE guide more after the trip they all surrounded us and tried to use scare tactics to get us to pay. They booked us in accommodation far from all the tourist attractions. Half way through our trip we can back to dehli from the north we went to their office told them our concerns we asked for a partial refund and were told no. We planned to do the rest of the trip independently as our first weeks experience was so bad but were taken upstairs to their office where we were promised that the rest of the trip would run smoothly. This is where we were given the driver that did all of the previous mentioned incidents. Needless to say the trip went from bad to worse and this company was solely responsible for everything. The only plus I have to say is that one of the employees in Delhi manged to get the mobile phone returned to us and apologized for the actions of his driver who I bet is still working for them.. just another day and another tourist ripped off for theses gangsters.

SCAM !!! STAY AWAY !!!All of those so-called government agencies are fake and they will try to sell you incredibly expensive tours. Even if they appear to be nice in the first place, dont let them lure you. All they want is to ripp you off. If you are looking for a train ticket, The ONLY place you want to go is inside of the train station, first floor, there is a specific office with counters for tourists. Dont go anywhere else. There are scams everywhere, even inside of the train station. Dont listen to anyone untill you get to the FIRST FLOOR INSIDE OF THE TRAIN STATION. Safe travel to you all !!!

All the DTTDC staffs received us really well, from the time of booking to travel. We booked for a city tour and Agra tour from DTTDC. The first day of the tour was really awesome and our guide, Mr. Jitin was really impressive and professional. He handled the crowd who was somewhat nuisance and not keeping track of time really well. We were impressed by his management and him explaining about every locations. It was really easier to conversate with him regarding any questions we may have on the way. The Agra tour with another guide was though good was a bit disappointing because of tasteless expensive food at Priya restaurant and spoiled the mood for the trip. Priya also lacked the authentic taste of India and when we told the guide he was like it was so to cater to other foreigners taste. We also know that restaurant should cater to every taste buds but losing the taste of actual foods and butter roti which did not taste like butter and felt more like oil poured over should not be for so much cost for which the guide was defending. It was more like cashing out money from tourist. Then the guide felt more like a broker than the guide for us. The 5rating is for Mr.Jitins contribution and dedication. Thanks again

Not only that, it has been two days and they have not sent me my flight itinerary or replied to any of my emails.

I tried reserving Railway Tickets onlineUsing IRCTC App you have far greater chances of losing your money than actually booking a Railway ticket. IRCTC is employing India No 1 Fraud Bank which is also a Private Bank for authentication of your Username and password..I tried Twice to book my tickets using the App, but lost my money on both occasions. What happens is when you are trying to book your tickets, money is immediately deducted from your Bank account and thats even before your Ticket booked. And then you are taken to a authentication page, not withstanding that your credentials are correct, authentication never happens. Best part of the story is that you lose your money.Google - Rs 55,000 Crore Air India Scam

AVOID AT ALL COST.We were stopped in the street by a well dressed man in a turban who was very friendly. He struck up some small talk and we explained how we were looking for the train station to buy tickets for a journey to Agra. He said it was far away and that we could buy the tickets from a tourist information centre close by. He walked us to this office (about a quarter of a mile), and the whole way there I was questioning what was this guys motivation for going so far out of his way. Maybe it was tiredness or my desire to see good in people, but I ended up just putting it down to a good deed from a local guy happy to help people. On the way he explained his sister had some sort of shop in Newport Wales, and even showed me the business card. (Please get in touch if you know an Indian family who own a shop here selling Indian goods, not a food establishment however). To cut a long story short, we bought a driven tour around the golden triangle as they said all train tickets to agra were sold out for the next day. I was so desperate to see the Taj Mahal I fell hook line and dinner. The driver was utterly reckless. His car was a total heap, nothing like the car we were shown in the picture. The hotel in Jaipur was terrible and disgusting.BUT, AND PLEASE READ THIS PART, when I returned home I noticed my credit card had a transaction made for tickets to a theme park in Hong Kong.It was only after I retraced my steps on Google maps to find this TI centre and read the reviews that it all clicked what had happened. The man targeting tourists in the street, I now know his motivation. There is no such thing as a good deed in delhi.

TO AVOID!!!!!!!!!! These people are thieves, crooks !!!!! They have an elaborate plan to swindle tourists, My wife, 1.5 year old baby and I are going to take the train from New Delhi to Agra today, when it is time to go to the ticket office, an Indian came by approach us by telling us first of all that we were at the wrong station, he wanted to be kind to give us information and gain our trust, then he tells us that the station is further south of delhi, and that to book it is easier for us to go through the tourist office, do not want to follow him, we are going to tell him anyway that we are going to take the 1:20 pm train knowing that it was only 12:50 pm. He tells us that it is too late because the boarding gates were already closed. He therefore managed to convince us to take a taxi to his tourist office. We realize that he has been ambushed, in fact there has never been a tourist office but a travel agency. Arriving at the travel agency, the employees try to be as nice as possible to us by offering candy to our son.He locks us in an office, the employee looks for nonexistent trains, saying each time that it is full. and that the price of trains is 50 euros for 2 people in first class, for in the end we offered a taxi at 100 euros. We had to accept the taxi, it was already 2:30 p.m., we had been in his office for 1 hour.As we got in the taxi, we realized that we had been ripped off. Conclusion, I formally advise you not to go to this bogus tourism office which is actually a travel agency.
