The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) is a second tier, paramilitary and volunteer force of the Bangladesh Army consisting of Army, Navy and Air Force cadets. It consists of military officers, JCOs, NCOs, civilian officers and teachers and students from various educational institutions. The motto of BNCC is - Knowledge, Discipline, Unity. This organization is a paramilitary voluntary organization, which works for any kind of natural calamity, public welfare, such as tree planting, voluntary blood donation, in addition to helping the military during wartime. In 1923, the name was changed to University Training Corps or UTC under the Indian Defense Forces Act, 1923. In the same year UTC was introduced in Dhaka University. In November 1928, Captain E. Groom arranged for the first aid corps to impart military training to 16 teachers and 100 students of Dhaka University. It was officially upgraded to a company in June 1926. It was one of the 12 units of UTC. It was named 12 Dhaka Company.In 1942 it was upgraded to a single company and the then Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University. Mahmud Hasan unpaid Lt. The company was given the title of Colonel. In 1943, it was renamed the University Officers Training Corps. In 1948, its first annual practice camp was held in Shillong.In 1950, 625 cadets and 40 officers were promoted to a battalion. The government of Pakistan banned the activities of UTC on 30 January 1953. But after the student protests, its activities started again in 1986. In the same year it was renamed as Pakistan Cadet Corps or PCC and Junior Cadet Corps or JCC was formed for school-college students. In 1971, cadets of PCC and JCC played an important role and 22 cadets were martyred. After independence, the name Pakistan Cadet Corps was replaced by Bangladesh Cadet Corps. On March 31, 1983, three infantry divisions of the Bangladesh Cadet Corps were established at Jahangirnagar University, Chittagong University and Rajshahi University. On March 23, 1989, the then President Ziaur Rahman organized the BCC, JCC and established the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps or BNCC. Students can easily join the armed forces through BNCC. They received the same physical and mental training as the military. They do not have to take written, oral and health examinations while joining the armed forces and the selected cadets directly participate in the ISSB examinations.
