This area dates back to 2000 years ago to the Buddhist era and must have been used as a resting place for monks who visited the Buddhist monasteries of Kanheri, Jogeshwari and Andheri. However some people have encroached it and turned it into a Hindu temple. I urge the Government of Maharashtra, the Archaeological Survey of India and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to preserve this Buddhist era historic place to its original Buddhist status.

The temple is on the hill, almost 1500 ft from the sea-level. The Goddess rests in a temple situated about 1120 steps above the ground on a hill that forms a part of the Satpura Range in Virar...
