Cafe Madras - Place of purity and quality food. Best place to have all kinds of South Indian foods. Good in taste and comfortable old Style dining. Good service and also offer coffee, Mysore Pak and Halva. Must try Masala Dosa, Rasam Wada, Pessarettu Dosa, Bisibele rice and pineapple sheera.Must try once to have real taste ๐
The best authentic South Indian breakfast Ive ever had! A unique dish they have is Sett Dosa with butter & podi, absolutely delicious. It had a sweet tinch and was generously loaded with butter. The Podi Idli was yum. Their sambhar and chutney were just perfect. I loved their Pineapple Sheera, it had pineapple pieces, not too sweet and no added colour. Thats how authentic they are. I generally stay away from food with synthetic colours. Nice Filter Coffee. Preferably visit on a weekdays as theres a long wait time on weekends, especially Sunday. Decent ambience and good staff. They are a bit over priced, however, when the food is so delectable, its worthed! Kudos to this restaurant for having maintained the quality of their food for decades and generations.#highlyrecommended #authentic #mustvisit
My all time favorite place! Best place for a typical south Indian style food..Service is very fast!! Enjoy as much as you can at a price which is economical and affordable!!
There is no complaint about food here. And the quality and quantity of the parcel and the food is great. I suggest that you should order for a meal from here and have fun. I think this will be a good experience for you. I am happy with this experience. This is not to harm your respect but it is necessary to write here.I recommend the manager of the restaurant and the high official of that, that you should pay attention to the staff of the restaurant. The behavior of the staff with the people who came to the restaurant was not looking right. People who come here scream like the local market, yet the staff does not answer properly.they reply According to their wishes, after seeing the people, they answer.
Love this place. Of course the food is fantastic, but the feeling of coming back here and being welcomed every time by the old friendly faces adds nostalgia to the amazing food. I love this place.
Just awesome place. I have been visiting this place since last 6 to 7 years its just awesome. Never been had a dull moment.
The best and authentic South Indian filter Coffee I have ever had..This place is very famous between celebrities but they are still that humble and down to earth
I cant believe it took me so long to come across this gem of a restaurant. A very rustic deli serving authentic south indian delights. The place is always full with people so do expect 10-15 minutes waiting time. The staff was very cooperative in ensuring that our entire group of 16 people could eat together during rush. The service time is fine and the food taste is simply outstanding. We ordered Mysore Masala Dosa, Medu Vada and Onion Uttapam which were absolutely delightful. But the show star was their signature kaapi served in the traditional dabra vessel and that is a type of coffee I wont mind traveling 70kms for again! The prices are surprisingly economical too, highly recommended!
Always a preferred place for south indian food. Only ensure you dont visit during break. 2.30 to 3.30 pm.
South Indian tiffin items ( some modified) are served here in Mumbai. Small restaurant with very good taste and varieties. You have to wait in the weekend. Parcel service is available and dine in is also available.
Amazing place for having authentic south Indian cuisine, as they say sambhar preparation is different in different state, you can enjoy tamilnadu style sambar in Madras cafe. Reasonably priced with quick service
The food was good but the service is delayed. The wait staff takes a lot of time to get the orders
It is a nice place for a quick south indian snack like an idli or rsam wada. It has the old world charm. Filter coffee is good
Awesome place โฆ. Good Food โฆ. Gr8 service n ppl โฆ From the menu i liked Idli, Mysore Rawa , Rasam and filter coffee
Its one of the oldest Authentic South Indian restaurants in Matunga Central, Mumbai. Superb food, though personaIly I find it a little spicy. It seats about 50 to 75 on a ground and mezzanine floor. No air conditioning. Its packed for breakfast tiffins and dinner. Lotsa waiting. Hence take your time and go. No reservations. Its old school.
Loved the south indian food that too in bombay.Great service
One the oldest and the best idli and filter coffees in Mumbai.. Iconic place
Best 0lace for South Indian breakfast. Dahi misal is one dish must try.
An authentic, happy and fulfilling eating place, and one of the most popular ones in Matunga, the foodie hub of Mumbai :)
One of the best no need to put in any word plss plss go and have food here
Its one of our favourite restaurant for South Indian Delicacies.!
Good for authentic south Indian cuisines. Waiter really gave us good Treatment & recommendations. However they could improve more than this with taste.
Great Food, but there is always a long waiting line to get a table, its worth the wait. One of the Best South Indian Food in Mumbai
Clean and good services.Fresh and testy food
Its the best place to have authentic south indian breakfast
Very delicious food and well behaved staff
Superb! The taste. The price. The ambience. Everything is perfect. But make sure you go at the less crowded times because let me tell you this is one popular place even without the home delivery option. They are not listed on any food delivery apps but still they are the one place everyone wants to eat out of. Simple limited menu and whatever they serve. Its so good! Do try the neer dosa and sheera!
First time Id been here. The food was delicious, served quickly and so fresh. Loved it.
Sambar and mini paper dosa is awesome
One of the old restaurants in the Matunga. But they have lost their charm over the period of time. Food prices are high over here compared to other outlets in the same area. Tried their pineapple sheera. Didnt like much.
Amazing SI corner. No introduction needed.
Ok food taste is not that great only price is high not satisfied. But still can do better in terms of taste price is not the issue for good taste.
Recently , had the pleasure to visit Cafe Madras. The restaurant is closed for dining but open for takeaways or eating standing outside. The food was super delicious. Loved it.
Love the food and prompt service as always! Slightly renovated cafe still has the same warm and friendly feel..
Authentic quality food, decent crowd from neighborhood and pocket friendly rates makes this place a must visit....Usually crowded and small serving place making the experience slightly irking....If you can manage that, this is the place to be...
The food was absolutely tasty as always, this is the go to place for breakfast for people In and around Mumbai. Their variety of dosas and filter coffee is a must try for a run to the taste buds one has.
In Matunga it is good place to have breakfast. It has good menu for South Indian food lovers.Waiting time is lil higher
You will definitely love the Kappi.. food is also delicious.. hygienic and clean place... delicious authentic South Indian food
Good quality hygienic food served , specially Idli served with Powder Chatni . All varieties af Dosas are very tasty& delicious . The inside area is very neat & clean .
Average taste with above normal price... They charge for even one extra Chatni and extra Sambhar. The issue is not extra charge but the issue is that the initial chatni and sambhar which comes is sufficient only for 20-25% of dosa literally... This is where they compell you to order extra chatni-sambhar and then charge extra over it.
Great and good place to have a quick bites. Always crowded and have to spend the more time in waiting then in dining.
One of the best South Indian restaurants in Mumbai. Been visiting this for over 2 decades now!
One of the most amazing Restraunt for South Indian food in the Matunga! An absolute must visit to this place !
One of the best South Indian restaurant in mumbai, only problem is washroom not available.
The most authentic South Indian restaurant in Mumbai. Everything here is best and filter coffee is the best of the best. Dont miss it
They have started dining services. The food was fabulous after a long time.
Very delicious and escalating food. The quality of taste they provide could exact match to the its origin place. Its takes like as if it is made in south india that too by the some one who has aquire the technique through hereditary. Felt nice. Food specially the rassam and dosas are top notch level stuff. I will recommend this to you all and for those who aint aware of south food taste you cant go there but you can surely visit this place there will be no omit in the exact south teaste.
Things to try neer dosa, rava dosa and offcourse idli and wada
Best south indian food in mumbai. No doubt they dont have any other branch in mumbai because its superbly awesome. Upma podi, idli podi are one of the best and dont forget to try pan podi.
Cafe Madras is located at Matunga circle. It has been around for quite a long time now and has that old school charm. Even though the area has many eateries around, it still holds its own. The place is only known for 1 thing and 1 thing that should matter - Food. Authentic South Indian Food. No matter what time of the day you go there, youll have to wait your turn. Such is the reputation of the place that people always come there for a bite or two. The food is absolutely sumptuous and worth every penny. The staff are thoroughly professional and courteous. If you are from the south and know the language, you can strike a chord with the staff who love to speak a word or two in their local dialect. The prices are very pocket friendly considering the quality of the food. Youll feel like coming back for more.
Always crowded I love coffee my favorite place from childhood good nowadays Dey give coffee outside the Restau.๐๐๐
If someone wants an authentic South Indian cuisine, then this is the place to visit.. A breakfast or a lunch or an evening outing, one can visit anytime..
Food and service is really very good .. Only the outlet is small which makes it crowded and conjusted .

Masala Dosa and Rava sada dosa to die for. Watery rasam wada and fabulous coffee. Go there for lunch on weekday and no crowd. Social distancing seating to be safe.

Cafe Madras High price, not so great compare to other nearby similar south indian food outlets
Best South Indian food ever. Wont get any better
Just love their Idli Butter Pudi as much as their other delicious dishes.
One of the restaurants which is keeping the taste intact even after becoming famous. The waiting list is always long and one has to wait for at least 15-20 mins on a Sunday morning.Food is amazing especially Upma podi and sheers. We tried almost everything which was written as specialty in their menu.Since the service was fast, we did not have to wait and by the end we were full still craving for more.Definitely recommended ๐
Very nice place to visit but there is a very long waiting Q for table booking
U surely need to be patient to get a table... it is mostly crowded on anytime of the week end you go.. but surely the wait is not bad as the quick hot south indian food is worth it..The legacy continues after years also rather it has improvised and added..Filter coffee or the soothing hibiscus cooler drink is just perfect way to finish off hour meal...No doubt on soft melting idlis and crisp crunchy vadas but not to miss is the poddi idlis ...
The most famous south indian food joint ...part of the cultural landscape of matunga. you must visit once.
The best idlis dosas n cafi in town
The best udupi restaurant in Mumbai never been disappointed
Good to have coffee and all snacks of South Indian varities, stand and eat as only table provided , Full service they will restore in August and you can enjoy
By Matunga standard, its good. By Mumbai standard its very good. Idli and Sambhar a must eat.
Amazing breakfast.....must have. Didnt get a chance for a dine in due to COVID but, authentic taste and favorite kappi
We had ordered Onion Rava Masala Dosa which had loads of green chilli in it, that why it was on spicy side (which I didnt like) 2nd we had ordered was Plain Dosa which was served with sambhar and coconut chutney (Coconut chutney was amazing in taste but sambhar was below average) 3rd we had ordered Butter Idli and Fliter Coffee which was amazing and not to be missed its a must try dish.
They have best idli of proper tamilnadu taste. And idlis are very soft melts like ice cream
Authentic South Indian food.Best place in Mumbai for South Indian breakfast.
