One of the oldest South Indian restaurants in Matunga, which serves quite an authentic dishes. Though the ambiance is quite old, the restaurant is busy all through the day. The service is quite good as most of the waiters have been working for generations and extends a very homely atmosphere. Dont miss to take their hot filter coffee. A must place to enjoy a good breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Located opposite matunga station. This place gets lost in the hustle and bustle of the station as entrance is in a corner plus the sign board is not very prominent. The furniture and ambience is old school types. But be rest assured about the food and service. Amazing dosas, upma, vadas. The best part here is the chutney and the sambar. Simply yum. Its pocket friendly too.. So its a must go south Indian place in matunga

Retro Furniture still rocking this place, No Menu Cards & Waiters in Lungi, gives you a vibe of an authentic café from South Of IndiaIt is a non- air conditioned eatery, but with wide open windows and a gigantic door, the absence of an air conditioner hardly comes to notice. The furntiure dates back to almost pre-independence periodThe Annas ( waiters ) wear lungis (a traditional attire from South India) and the service is quick but on Sunday you might have to share a tableAnother gem of a South Indian place in the Central part of the City, Matunga

Was one of my favourite place as I have been eating here since my childhood but as time goes by their food quality and taste is changing which I didnt like. Their serving style has changed and waiters are no more courteous and take long time to come at table.Day by day their quality and taste is depreciating. I asked for Rava Dosa and they said they dont have. Surprising.

Sharda Bhavan is located opposite Matunga Station (East). It’s a an old establishment serving South Indian cuisine. We tried their Butter Sada Dosa and Mysore Sada Dosa.•Butter Sada DosaI asked them to make it naram, and they did make it naram. It was delicious and buttery. Tasted well with their Sambhar too.•Mysore DosaIt was like any other Mysore Dosa, it could be better if they used more oil/butter in the masala paste.•Special mentionSambhar was amazing! It was nothing like any other sambhar served at other South Indian eateries in Matunga.

I ordered ulundu Dosa, coffee and Mysore sada Dosa. All of them being my favourite ones. The service is quicker. The ambience is basic and seating is rustic. It reminds of the old restaurants I used to visit back in south India.Mysore Sada Dosa is crispy, it has authentic taste. Butter which is generously added in all other Dosa parlours is not added unless asked for. Coffee is strong filtered one. Just a required jolt for the workday.

Went this afternoon , had to wait for 5 minutes for a table . Place was not that crowded however it took close to 7 to 10 minutes before we were asked for our order.Ordered pongal, medu vada, rasam vada, neer dosa, masala dosa , lime sherbet and 2 strong coffee...Bisibele bath and ragi dosa were not available .Ordered items were prepared quickly ...On the quality front strictly in terms of taste on a scale of 10 , I would rate pongal 5/10, medu vada7/10, rasam vada8/10, masala dosa 5/10, coffee( my rating is 3/10, but another person that I went with rated it 5/10...Reason for coffee rating ( I consider myself to be quite a good judge atleast on coffee) , coffee was extremely watery and sans any flavour ...The rasam served scored a 9/10 and neer dosa was again 4 or 5 on 10 , neer dosa is seldom served with sambar , it is traditionally chutney and mix of gud and cocunut ..
