We recently visited cafefreeindia .Cafe Free India is a multi cuisine fine dine Cafe located in Lower Parel, Mumbai. The name of the Cafe harkens back to the days of the freedom struggle when restaurants would have names like Cafe Bharat or Hindustan Bharat. The Name pays homage to them. The menu meanders through soups, starters, burgers, pizza, Asian and European mains, desserts and cocktails. The interior of the restaurant will give you a mix vibe of interiors of old Irani cafe in Mumbai and old goa houses. All the articrafts and paintings in the restaurant are handpicked from all over world. They also have a really cool bar side for the bar lovers. We tried:1.French Onion Soup(Sweet caramelised onion simmered in a rich meat broth to create a soup base that is loved by everyone!)2.The Sea Link(Connecting Bombay, Old And New, Their Blue Curacao, Pineapple And Gin Cocktail.)3.Crunchy Cajun Chicken Burger(Cornflakes crusted chicken breast with a Cajun rub.)The restaurant only uses fresh ingredients. There are no artificial colours or flavours in the food. Also one of the most important thing about this restaurant is that they only use ingredients from the local vendors and they strongly support the vocal for local movement. We highly recommend

So I was meeting a friend and she suggested this place and booked us a table as this is very crowded over lunch . Well from outside it looked cool. But I was curious why it was named cafe Free India, then we got to know that this place is operated by people ever since independence. Food was amazing, loved the salad, pasta, Thai curry and rice... The best thing that we had was the red velvet muffin with fresh cream amazing on taste and super soft. The people serving give you a detailing about the food and place. They are expanding on 2nd floor and awaiting their bar licence to serve liquor to overall lovely experience. I can rate this place as 4.5

This place gets you the right essence of old Bombay. One will enjoy readings around the place which are quirky & fun. The interiors are selected well, each item taking you to the memory lane. The place also serves brilliant food. Loved what we had:-French Onion Soup: pondicherry speciality, with amazing flavours of basil. Slight sweetness of onion made this one a great dish.-Spinach Corn Cheese Sandwich: we ordered this in multigrain bread. This was the best SCC sandwich I have ever had. The stuffing was delicious!-Jalapeño Cheese Chicken Nuggets: Crispy, cheedy & perfect. Served with mustard mayo dip. Enjoyed having this.-Aglio Olio: good quantity but I felt the spaghetti could be a little thinner. The flavours was decent.-Butter Garlic Fish: loved the flavour with the fish. Was served with huge quantity of mashed potatoes & salad on the side.We accompanied our meal with:-Sea link: the gin based cocktail was unusual & nice-Red Velvet Shake: simply great. The cream was amazing & taste just right.Overall, we loved this place. The place is very comfortable, one can seat, relax, talk and have a great meal.

Free India CafeThe cafe is walkable in distance from Prabhadevi (Elphistone Station) & Easy to locate.. The ambiance is quite quirky with naughty and funny quotes all around the wall with vintage facts.. A mini bar counter is stored just opposite the entrance with soothing jazz music. The place is super crowded in peak hours.. Might also happen that you will have to wait for the tables.. but when you are there in, even you wouldnt like to leave the place soon..What all I tried:Cocktail: Green Mumbai:This Cocktail comes in a tiny champagne class loaded with Cucumber Besil & Coriander topped with Vodka & White Rum on the Rocks.. quite strong in flavour.. and as you sip up hits on your Nose string.SOUP: CHICKEN THUKPA:Was quite refreshing with freshly cut Cilantro and Chicken Minch.HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDAPPETIZERS:CHILLI OYSTER PRAWNS:Quite a flavour dish with perfectly done prawns.HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDCRUMB FRIED CALAMARI:Absolute delightful.. That crunch coated on calamari with mustard mayonnaise dip goes so wellHIGHLY RECOMMENDEDMAINS:BACON CARBONARA PENNE PASTA:This was superbly done with smoked bacon.. The white sauce was well infused with the smoked bacon which dominated the flavour.RECOMMENDEDAll and all the food and its pricing is quite an attraction for the people.. The servers are kind and do their job well..but at times disappears.. Need to improvise on that.. Otherwise everything is set!Well I am planning to bring my gang for perfect dining.. And recommending you all to do so!!Cheers!

Café Free India in Lower Parel is a 5-7 minute walk from Prabhadevi station. The ambience had a vintage look, wicker chair and witty quotes on all the walls. The waiting staff was courteous and well read on the menu. It was raining when we went there which just really elevated the experience on the whole.Service 5/5.Ambience 5/5.We started with two soups. The FRENCH ONION SOUP had a thick consistency and a mild but great flavor. Italian flavoring and the cheese garlic toastie made it a good start the meal.THUKPA SOUP had a load of spices and had a Tibetan sweet and sour flavor. The soup has well-cooked thin noodles and pak choy.In mocktails we had two shakes and two soda based mocktail ORANGE MOJITO and GINGER GARLIC SODA. Mojito was having lots of lemon in it and ginger garlic soda is perfect one to have here. RED VELVET SHAKE was my favourite and oreo lovers should try OREO CHOCO MILK SHAKE.For starters, we ordered CREAMY MUSHROOM BRUSCHTTAS. It mainly consisted of finely chopped mushroom amongst other things. It was one of our favorite dishes ordered here. The crispy flavorsome bread topped with a creamy dressing was a mouthful of joy on a plate. The next starter was the VEG NUGGETS, that came filled with cheese and cream. The dressing and crispy nuggets can be good siders for when out drinking with friends, or even otherwise!Thin crust, vege-loaded and tangy-ish BOMBAY MASALA PIZZA was amongst the many things that tasted delightful. Main courses we ordered, included a ‘proper italian’ PENNE ARRABIATTA RED SAUCE PASTA. One bite of it and you can clearly know that the red sauch has been made by the café from scratch, giving it a fresh taste… Something we always look for in red pasta. The very popular GODFATHER VEG BURGER was specially recommended to us by the waiting staff and they were right about doing so. The burger was a handful, with two patties and cheese, dressing and veggies. The other one was a VEG PARMAGGIANO BURGER with a potato, veggies and seasoning filled patty. Both the burgers were sided with very crispy and fresh French Fries.Moving on DESSERT OF THE DAY… A pastry with White Rum infused dark chocolate. It was bitter-sweet and really rich. BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE was how a cheesecake should be. Very rich, dense, creamy with a very-berry flavor and a crispy biscuit base.Thupka 4/5.French onion soup 5/5.Orange mojito 3/5.Ginger lemon 4/5.Oreo choco milk shake 4/5.Red velvet shake 5/5.Veg nuggets 4/5.Creamy mushroom bruschetta 5/5. (must order)Godfather veg 4/5.Veg parmaggiano 4/5.Penne arrabiata red sauce 5/5.Bombay masala pizza 4/5.Dessert of the day 4/5.

The food was of good quantity and quality and had a very distinct taste of Mustard Mayo. The speciality Godfather lamb patty burger was literal mouthfill with mushroom, egg, double patty, caramelized onion and lettuce. The Peach Ice Tea, Orange Mojito and The Gooey Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream were my favourite. The hospitality was good. Overall its a 5/5 for me ...

I ordered food for the first time from here. I ordered piri piri chicken pizza and spicy chicken fingers. Delivery was on time.Spicy chicken fingers - Spicy Chicken Fingers is basically crispy golden fried strips of chicken served with mint mayonnaise. chicken was tender and spicy.Piri piri chicken pizza - I think pizza is overpriced. there was not enough cheese on pizza.Pizza was little bit sweet because of Caramelized onions. Pizza was thin crust and there was toppings of onions and chicken.

Been a fan of their Juicy Lucy burger for almost 2 years now. Recently tried the veg one with paneer patty as well. Loved it. It may be a little difficult to track for someone new to the area. It is right opposite to Deepak cinema. Other things to try would be the dessert of the day( very good usually) and the juicy Lucy ( yes, I love it)! Do not order the burger with a wheat bun. Do add extra cheese slice of you like it to be a little rich.

Have been Visiting this place since 7/8 years now. After a gap of 8 months visited yesterday. Man This place rocks - Liquor licence does make a difference. Packed/Waiting at 645 pm ( hear that fridays/ saturday crazy )One thing about the place - VFM ( Value for Money ) Nice quantity and good food. Bar menu conceived. Amazing cocktails. They also have some offers ( Check with the restaurant )Started with A couple of Beers and Cocktail - Kala Khatta Margarita ( Tangy made well ) Had a decent punch to it.Bombay 13 was another Gin based cocktail which i ordered ( blend of Blue curacao/Pineapple )Started of with French Onion Soup ( Not Classic ) This is their take. Picked up from a cafe at Pondicherry. Lovely texture. A bit less on Caramelised Onion. Broth Vegetarian. Overall flavourful.Margarita Pizza with jalapeno - must try their Pizzas and burgers ( will come to the burgers later ) 9 Thin crust , lovely sheen , nicely done. Tomato sauce had the authentic taste. Mozzarella and Jalapeno. Gave a good kick.Jalapeno cheese Nuggets with tartar sauce - here the chef has added diced cauliflower with potatoes and Cheese and jalapeno friend till golden brown. Crispy from the out and gooey from inside. A good starter along with your beer.Veg parmigiano Burger - wow, hats off to cafe free india. Same consistency over the years. Its all about the bread and the patty. Patty crunchy/salad fresh and their tomato concasse made the difference. At 260/+ its a steal. Freshness written all over.Asian Pot curry with exotic vegetables and Burnt garlic rice. Nice combination. Curry had a lovely texture. Balanced flavours. Went well with the rice. Do ask for it.Dessert - Mango Tart with vanilla ice cream . Not a sweet tooth but polised it within minutes.Overall - I will be back soon. Need to try many other dishes on the menu. They serve some good Indian as well. Opens at 12 noon till 12 midnight. Go for it.

DécorSmall and cozy little cafe, with good ambiance and delightful music. Decorated with funny posters that will surely make you smile as you enjoy your food. Complete with a eye-catching bar.FoodOver the course of the meal tried a variety of innovative dishes. Started with Thupka soup, a excellent replica of the Tibetian classic. Next up was a familiar dish, chicken nuggets, which were typical but the accompanying dip gave them a nice twist. For main course were 2 another classics, Stroganoff and chicken spaghetti Bolognese. Both were quite predictable and not the best versions of the dishes Ive tried till now, although were quite acceptable. The best dish of the restaurant was the grilled BLT sandwich. Consisting of cheese and bacon, between perfectly grilled bread, the sandwich had prefect balance of cheesy and smoky flavour and was my favourite dish of the restaurant. The lunch concluded with sugar free Mango mousse which failed to impress and could be a lot better.DrinksTried the Free Bombay sangria and the red velvet milkshake. The sangria was a different take at the classic, although a bit strong for my taste. Red velvet shake was delicious complete with red velvet topping.

Cafe Free India is located in Lower Parel, it is pretty close to Kamla Mills Compound. The place has great vibes with a really well thought of decor. If you observe carefully every detail is well planned. The best part is the frames with variety of interesting quotes all over the place. It is really intriguing and makes you stay. The seating is also great old styled chairs which are comfortable, the music selection playing in the background is also nice. Overall the ambiance is awesome. The staff is really welcoming and friendly, they are very attentive and helped us a lot. We had a great course thanks to their suggestions, the food is also great and there are many options to choose from, talking in detail about the food we had.🔶SOUP:We started with a soup which was a FRENCH ONION SOUP WITH ADDED CHICKEN, the consistency of the soup was the best part about it, a balanced amount of pepper and onion the soup with chicken and a bread crumb.🔶STARTER:we decided to order BACON WRAPPED PRAWNS which was the most amazing dish here i guess, I really liked the taste, the waiter suggested this and it was worth it.🔶DRINKS:THE QUEENS NECKLACE which was a cocktail including cranberry juice and vodka. We also tried a mocktail which was a RED VELVET CAKE SHAKE and it was decent.🔶MAINS:CHICKEN HYDRABADI WITH WHOLE WHEAT ROTI was indeed a nice option to have with BUTTER CHICKEN BIRIYANI which was served piping hot with raita on the sides.🔶DESSERT:The dessert we ordered was BROWNIE WITH ICE-CREAM and the presentation was amazing and so was the taste.🔶🔶🔶So finally I can say that it was a great meal with a good ambiance, recommended by me.

IntroductionImagine walking down memory lane, and sipping on a cuppa of chai, in a typical café back in the 1940’s. The unpretentious furniture comprises of cane chairs, and marble topped tables. The vibe is inviting, and the café comes alive with light-hearted banter.Inspirational branchesCafé Free India, seeks inspiration from the Indian Freedom Movement. The eatery is comfortable nestled in the vicinity of Lower Parel. They also have a branch in Bandra, and hope to inaugurate just another in Andheri, post the 2019 monsoon. The Vintage bitsThe Lower Parel property is leased on a premise that is over 50 years old. The property once catered to a famous Dairy. The café is managed and created by Rich Roche Hospitality, which is owned by Sachin Roche and his wife, Dr. Richa Agarwal. The décor comes alive with industrial furniture, which explores a different narrative of the bygone era. Sachin and Richa, strive hard at rendering the old-world charm to the café, which in a way imparts it’s own authentic flavour. Elements like marble tabletops, cane chairs, and switchboards from the 1940’s add to the charismatic appeal. Café Free India employs a warm and understanding staff. They’re quick on a heel, and serve patrons with due promptness. The crowdInvigorating aromas from the kitchen unfailingly lure patrons to try their simple, yet refreshing creations. It is interesting to learn how some of them keep coming back from time to time. The café is strategically located in the corporate area, luring office-goers. Family and friends frequent the place, on weekends.Take on TASTYThe food reviews have been fantastic. I have shamelessly found myself binging on a number of things. Some of most famous delicacies include lip-smacking burgers, such as the ‘Southern Fried Cottage Cheese Burger’, ‘The Bombay B’urger (that comes with a freshly prepared beetroot patty), the yummy ‘Louisiana Crab Burger’, the ‘Crispy Chilli Prawn Burger’, juicy ‘Lucy Lamb Burger’ and many more. The Café Free India team doesn’t believe in stocking on frozen burger patties. Their burgers are made to order. Patron rave over their burgers stating, that the patty has a crispy outer and the meats and vegetables are all juicy and fresh. Some of the other specialities include the ‘French Onion Soup’, ‘Thukpa’, ‘Asian Pot Curry’, ‘Spaghetti and Meatballs’, and a delicious array of thin crust pizzas. The bar concocts an interesting number of signature cocktails and some of the regular favourites as well. The city-inspired cocktails include, ‘Bombay Green’, ‘Queens Necklace’, ‘Bombay 13’, ‘Veerappan’, ‘Kaali Peeli’ and more. The prices are reasonable, encouraging people o keep coming back.End NoteAll in all, going to Café Free India is like taking a walk down memory lane. A must visit.

We had Peri Peri Chicken Pizza at this place. The taste was decent and can be tried once. They served thin crust and crispy pizza with bits of chicken and enough of cheese spread on it. The price is on the higher side as we paid Rs 437 for one full pizza of 6 slices which can be eaten by even one person. So, its not for more than two people. If you want one slices each then 6 people can have it. But it had nothing more apart from the chicken, cheese and onions. No vegetables as we see in Dominos os Pizza hut. I hope you can get a better Pizza at these outlets but the taste was not bad. You wont find anything below 150 rupees and you should atleast spend Rs 1000 if you want to have a meal.Event though the place is located on the main road no noise comes inside and I loved the aura around the place. They have very nice caption hanged on the walls and a newspaper cutting of Hindustan Times on the day of the Independence of India. Go and Have fun. Do like the comment if you feel this was helpful to you. Thank You!

It is 10-15 mins walking distance away from lower parel station as well it is near to Prabhadevi station. What I had here:• Chilli Paneer Garlic (5/5):Perfect chineese starter to start. Must must try.• Red velvet shake (5/5):It was thick shake and smashed red velvet cookies on top was delicious, quantity was also good. Well presented must try out.• God father Burger(3/5):God father burger consisting of two big patties. I opted for vegetarian hence it was having veg pattie with lots of cheese on it. Burger is larger in size that one person alone cannot finish it at one go.• Gooey Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream (5/5):Chocolate brownie was very good in taste and also very soft. Well presented and attractive dish is must to try out.

After a busy day, I was quite hungry, and with dinner still a while away thought Ill snack a bit to calm my growling tummy. I fired up Zomato and one of the first recommendations in my location was Cafe Free India. I walked over, and as expected it was fairly empty, with the evening being quite young. Dim lighting, soft music, I immediately liked the ambience. The waiter greeting me was most polite, so the tone was set for a nice evening. I started off with a Pina Colada, which is a rum based cocktail with pineapple flavour, and it was decent, not too fruity, though couldve been a bit stronger. I then ordered Bacon Wrapped Prawns, and they arrived fairly soon. Deep fried by the looks of it, they of course tasted yummy, and what I liked most was the bacon, it was truly lip smacking. The prawns were reasonably big, and with 6 of them this dish alone can fill up many people. Encouraged by the starter, I then opted for a burger, which is supposed to be what this place is known for. The one I chose was Juicy Lucy Chicken, and it didnt disappoint. Nice thick patty, and very much juicy as per the name, the meat and the bun both were good. The accompanying fries were hot, soft and not overly salty. With that, I wrapped up my visit, not wanting to completely stuff myself, as there was dinner prepared at home. To sum up then, Cafe Free India has made an excellent first impression on me, theres not much to complain really. The food, the drinks, the staff, the ambience everything put together made for a pleasant experience, so I will definitely revisit here, with the Sunday buffet being a particular point of interest for me.

Appreciate the talented singers performing live music but since the place is not very big, it becomes kind of a headache. Too loud music... You cannot find peace here. Food was okay! Nothing extraordinary.

The CafeFree India the best place to chill with friends, the quality of the food is great, the proportion of the ingredients is perfect, the ambience is awesome very simple as well as fancy.Thukpa Soup - The soup was not so spicy and not so sweet or salty it has the best combination of chilli and tangy flavour, it taste best when it is hot.French Onion Soup - Its has the very mild flavour of cheese, having little salty flavour too.Creamy Mushroom Bruschittas - The best and perfect starter to have love the cream and combination of musroon with it which makes the taste balance and bruschittas adds the crunchy flavourVeg Naggets - It is little bit salty and very much soft, according to me it will taste better if it is a little bit more spicy.Penne Arrabiatta Red Sauce - The Tangy and very little bit spicy pasta which is very best combination in pasta to have, which i loved to have it.Bombay Masala Pizza - The name itself describes the taste, which is having a proper bombay masala in pizza which is a unique, and i never had these type of taste anywhere.Godfather Veg Burger - The burger has the perfect stuff in it and there has an cheese slice in it which makes it more tasty.Veg Parmagiano - The patty inside it having a great taste and the vegetables in it enhance the taste of the burger.Orange Mojito - The Moctails like orange mojito completes your overall lunch its the best combination of orange and lime to have.Red Velvet Shake - The Sweet shake it is very juicy, personally it is very delecious if you love sweet you then you must try it.Oreo Choco Milk Shake - Who doesnt love the oreo shake the texture of the chocolate is perfect and having a blend of chocolate in it.Thukpa Soup-4.5/5French Onion Soup-5/5Creamy Mushroom Bruschittas-5/5Veg Naggets-4.5/5Penne Arrabiatta Red Sauce -4.5/5Bomaby Masala Pizza-5/5Godfather Veg Burger-5/5Veg Parmagiano-5/5Orange Mojita-5/5Red Velvet Shake -5/5Oreo Choco Milk Shake-5/5

No value for money. Absolutely not worth visiting the place. Food quality not kept upto the mark and standards with very unhygienic surrounding areas. Arrogant staff, delay in service delivery and no proper communication skills by the manager himself. No proper packaging, tissue napkins not available and only red chutney rice served in the name of veg fried rice with very poor taste. No vegetables added as shown in the board (very colourful picture). It was just a simple chutney added to rice and served with very poor taste quality. Totally not worth recommending anyone. Need to improve alot.

It is located right opposite Deepak theater. They offer right from fast food to main course. Seating is prohibited due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Takeaway is available. I had tavapulav, vadapaav, chicken Biryani and tea here. The tava pulav was not much great. Chicken biryani was OK. It has the flavor of chicken biryani masala and all pieces were of bones. Vadapaav was good. It was served piping hot. The chutney enhanced the taste of vadapaav. The tea was not that much hot as it is served from thermos.

A great place to have conversations. Loved the ambience and interiors. You will usually find a very young and classy crowd at this location. When I visited, there was no music being played inside and the time was around 7 pm. So I cannot accurately say whether this cafe does play music later in the night. Overall, I had a great experience here.

Terrible customer service. Just because we were kids they told us to get a parent even after we confirmed that only kids are allowed. This is blunderous and after we sat and got our food they approached us and told us that only kids arent allowed. But one thing to be noted is that the food is amazing and thats why the 3 star, on the basis of customer service I would rate it 0.

Best veg burger Ive had in a very very long time. Looking forward to going back there soon and this time with more friends so I can spread the word about cafe free india. There is a movie theater across the road from there so one even has an option of a meal before/after a movie. The restaurant gives you a discount if you have the movie tickets too.

Opposite to Matterden Carnival Cinemas (Earlier Deepak Talkies). Cafe Free India has an amazing ambience and aesthetics. Located in one of the most bubbling areas in the city, it has a lot to offer.
