Overhyped place.. the mutton berry pulov was bland and the Salli boti had too much tomatoes.. however the caramel custard was the best the Ive ever had. The food is overpriced for the quality that it serves. Poor hygiene and they only accept cash.. overall bad experience and I think people should stop overhyping this place.. there are many other good restaurants worthy of such popularity.

It is so rare to come across Irani restaurants in Mumbai these days for they are vanishing so fast. Britannia restaurant is still holding its ground since 1923 offering authentic Indo-Iranian cuisine. Its berry pulav, Sali chicken, mutton cutlet and Caramel custard are out of this world. A must place to go if you are interested in old and quaint places.

I had heard about the place and the food that they serve.. went today with friends and what an excellent experience it was.Real vintage feel in the restaurant but the food and the hospitality with professionalism took our breath away. Portions are adequate for two to three and we tried the famous Berry Pulao ( Prawns, Chicken and Veg) and Chicken Farchha in the main course and tried all the three desserts which included the Caramel custard, Choco Mousse and Sweet Iranian Curd...Strictly only Cash outfit and the ambience around the place helps you to digest all that is eaten by taking snaps all around the place for your Social media desires.Another major plus is adequate car parking ...If you are in Mumbai...... must go place...Cannot miss it... make a date.

As someone who appreciates history, I was really looking forward to checking this place out. Had the most hyped Mutton Sali boti. The dish was light on the stomach despite the masaledar looks. Came here for the first time in 2006 and happy to be returning 14 years later. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than your average lunch spot but the quality of the food and the antique atmosphere more than make the money worth it. Service is also very prompt, friendly, and done with pride for the history of this establishment. One of my favorite Mumbai spots and if I’m ever in South Mumbai around lunch time, more often than not I end up here.

In todays age of internet, Im not sure how I got lured away by all those fake positive reviews and decided to give it a try. This place is a definition of being overhyped to the extreme !! Starting from the ambiance (old is an understatement, the decor is century old, unchanged, zero maintenance done and the beams are dangerously hanging from the concrete of the ceiling). If you want to have good parsi food this is the place to avoid for sure.Pricing and Food - Mutton berry pulav for Rs. 800, prawn pulav for Rs. 900, mutton boti for Rs. 650, fish patri Rs. 900. You would experience what is giffen goods (feeling that something expensive would be really good) in economics when you visit this place. Please note that all the dishes are for one person (1.5 may be if you eat once in two days) and they dont take card or any other modes of payment except cash in INR. Chicken farcha Rs. 400 just for one piece ! I can keep on going but its easier for you to take a look at Zomato. Food quality is okay but taste is medicore at its best. This is not continental, neither Indian nor a proper parsi food (not at least in 2020).Special note 1 - We entered and tried to take a table which was free (no marking as reserved). The guy at the counter shouted on the waiter. We were sturtled with this attitude and was puzzled what went wrong. The waiter told us that the table was reserved and told us that we need to pay by cash. When we agreed to it he said then you can take this table. We were confused again !Special note 2 - We had travelled about 9-10 kms just to eat here and after being disillusioned with the experience we decided to go out when the waiter asked whether we needed to order anything else. When we replied in negative he seemed somehow irate. We paid the bill and was going out when my mother wanted to take a picture with one of the wall in the backdrop (mahatma gandhi and Indian Flag on the wall). After taking a picture, supposedly the owners son from the counter (aged about 35 ish guy, fair complexion) shouted on us.Below was the conversation as it is ....Owner : You cant take picture as this is my restaurant (extremely angry voice).Me : Well, you shouldve mentioned somewhere that photography is prohibited. And why on earth are you shouting on us? Were not your employee.Owner : look its written (points at a print on the staircase of the first floor which reads as rights of admission reserved)Me : That doesnt mean one cant take pictures.Owner : You may please leave, khuda Hafeez !Racism personified by owner, overhyped, weird staff behaviour if your bill is not high enough, super expensive food items, mediocre taste. You are an Indian (they seem to have a fetish for non Indians and it shows in their interaction with foreigners) and still wanna go .... Be their guest (pun intended).

One of the Oldest Irani Cafe Of Mumbai & as the legend goes, the birth place of the Iranian Berry Pulav in Mumbai. They use the Original Zereshk Berries Imported all the way from Iran in their Berry Pulav which elevates the taste to Next Level. If you are visiting Britannia for the first time, chances are that everything apart from the food might just be a major disappointment- and it is reasonable to expect that. With an apparently running down building facade and interiors that don’t appear to have been done up in half a century, with an ever scowling person in charge at the till, a sign that brazenly dissuades customers to argue with the management (wow!), a policy of payment only in cash in today’s New Age Cashless India, photographs of the map of India openly flanked by those of Persia and Britain.... that is a really a list to never go back. But I promise... you will. All the above are just the traditional charms of the place, take it in your stride, look for some hidden gems amongst the flags, the photos and emblems of the Parsi religion, interspersed with those of Mumbai when it was still Bombay, a photograph of Gandhi and that of the Queen of England, the sign boldly claiming the Eating House (not restaurant) is Fire compliant (whatever that means!), smirk as the person at the Cash till looks down upon people not carrying cash.... I really had a whale of time laughing at, and enjoying the whole experience. And then comes the food.... I really have nothing to say. Just give any of the Berry Palav’s a try (I tried chicken, but go for the Mutton one), and the Salli Chicken which was on every other table (we tried the Fried chicken with a boiled egg, which was also superb). And even if you are full, do NOT leave out the Caramel Custard, which probably is the best I have ever had, across cities and continents, and you will know what I mean....And the best part of the so called heavy meal here, you will not feel heavy and full, since the berry palav does not have the traditional Indian oils, and is quite light on spices (but is otherwise flavourful).

The typical parsi furniture with all sort of management notifications framed on the wall. It is Non-ac Restaurant and is only open during the Lunch Hours that too from Monday to Saturday from 11:30 AM to 4 PM.We ordered Salli chicken and mutton keema with chapatis ( rotlis) which was good very soft and light. We also ordered prawns berry pulav which was amazing especially those berry which are imported from Iran.
