Well this is one of my favorite place in Mumbai to have Maharashtrian Food. They specialize in Maharashtrian cuisine. This was my first visit after the place got renovated. The restaurant has a great decor and ambience. We visited the restaurant for breakfast. We had misal pav, vada pav, sabudanavada, Sada Dosa and tea. The food here is delicious and was served hot. Also, the staff is polite and helpful.
I went there with one of my best friends from Punjab and wanted him to try some yummy Maharashtrian cuisine. We ended up ordering so much food that we had to sit at the table for a while. We ordered Kothimbir Vadi, Vada Pav, Sabudana Vada, Khada Pav Bhaji and Piyush. Everything tasted great and we literally waited for almost 30 mins to get a seat. But it was totally worth it.
This is a landmark eatery for authentic Maharashtian cuisine - misal pav, thalipeeth, kothumbir wadi, vada pav, sabudana vada and of course not to mention the puri bhaji is just yum. Do not give it a miss when you are here. The decor is clean, cosy and minimal. Expect to be queued - Aswaad has a lot of regular patrons besides the occasional ones. But the service and food is worth the wait. This is a pure vegetarian outlet. Staff is courteous. All in all worth the hype...
I had visited with my family here few weeks agoFamily friendly place. A must go place people who love typical maharashtian delicacies Ambience and seating arrangement is good.Food is delicious worth of money.Speciality - Varan Bhat, Kothimbir Vadi, Pithla Bhakri, Dalimbi Usal this is famous dishes must try.
My all time favourite place for typical Maharashtrian food.Ambience is good with pretty interiors.Staff is super friendly and courteous. Some must try dishes are puran poli ice-cream, pitale bhakar, caramel custard, cheese masala pav ,piyush, vada pav. They have come up with a diet thali which is super delicious.Prices are pocket friendly too.Definitely a must visit place for Maharashtrian food lovers.
Great experience. Simple Maharashtrian food served with warmth. Recently renovated and has a superb ambience.
Best place for authentic Maharashtrian food. Really love the taste, ambiance, and staff. But today after having lunch I got Modak parcel for home and found a hair in it. Thats why I have given this rating.
Ideal place for Maharashtrian delicacies and new innovations.located opposite sena bhavan.parking is not available outside the hotel as its located on the main road but one can park it in the lane behind.
Ive always been a huge fan of the legendary Aaswad Upahar & Mithai Grih... This place is Heaven for anyone who loves Satwik and hygienic homely Maharashtrian food...Visited Aaswad after a very long time, but I was so happy and relieved that the taste and quality of food hasnt changed a bit; and thats a good thing! If youre in Dadar and want to know what Authentic Maharashtrian Food tastes like, then Aaswad is the perfect place for you...Everything here is just so delicious, youll tend to overeat. Some of the Must-try dishes are: Kothimbir Wadi, Sadha Varan Bhaat (plain dal rice), Misal Pav, Piyush (a thick Lassi-like chaas) etc.Theres hardly been a day when Ive been to Dadar and havent visited this restaurant... A Must visit for all my fellow Foodies!!!Important Note: whenever you decide to dine at this restaurant, keep at least half an hour s additional free time with you, because youll most likely find a full-house and might have to wait for your turn... But in the end, itsworth the wait!!!
Thali pith, misal, batata Vada, etc all Maharashtrian food is fantastic. We usually visit quite often and the service here is homely.
Authentic Maharashtrian food and very humble staff which makes aaswad best in the world. Thank you aaswad upahar for inviting us.
If you need clean , mouth watering Marathi food then you should visit this place. Loads of variety misal, thalipith , Modak . Recently or at least I came to know few days back that they added new fusion dish “ Puran poli” ice cream. I was awe by the taste , you must try it . I don’t go for sweet dish very often but this is something special. Go for it . The long waiting time is what on downside but service is super fast . Overall very satisfied customer
The service here is really great and appreciable. The Cost of all items are affordable and not as high as the facilities and amenities that they are providing. The taste here is truly great and totally worth it. All the food items are very tasty and hygienic. And quantity is also satisfactory. It was a great experience to visit here.
The best place to enjoy authentic maharashtrian food.Loved every dish I tried here.Friendly staff and hygienic.Very well made and served.Thank you Aaswad for a lovely time and food.👍👍👍👍
Amazing experience. Tasty food, super ambience, great price! Puranpoli ice cream is a must try!
This place is really good, hygienic, recommended to all friends, family gathering.Test is also too good.
The place has changed alot since my childhood. The quantity of servings has also reduced significantly. But the food taste has remained intact.
Very hygienic Maharashtrian food in best price, taste is tastier, atmosphere and interior design is very catchy .... Worth it..
Asswad is a timeless jewel that personifies the typical Marathi mans meal. Simple succinct and sumptuous. The wide variety of dishes are spot on in terms of taste. Most importantly the whole experience is now enriched with the prompt service and soothing ambience offering value for money service. Highly recommend!
Classy Maharashtrian veg food is difficult to find , but If you do .. please compare it with Aaswad , because it is just perfect.
Authentic, amazing Maharashtrian food. Great pricing. welcoming staff. very good food quality, can eat without worrying about upset stomach, bloating, indigestion that may come along with outside food.Waiting time is bit high on weekends/holidays
Must visit place if u r in mumbai...very economic and best quality...good ambiance..taste is totally authentic
One of the best Marathi food I have ever had, also cheap prices and best quality
There is no better place than Aaswad for Maharashtrian cuisine. Authentic Zhunka and Puran poli, If you’re lucky then try Modak without fail, things is most of the time they run out of Modak very fast. If you like pure “Loni” on top of your Thalipeeth, this is the place with spicy “thecha” and “Loni”, ohh its flavorsome. Full of happiness, when we visit we order at lease 6-7 items. There is always a wait time but they have new renovated spot, post Metro development, with plenty space. If you go for Siddhivinayak temple darshan, instead of eating nearby restaurants, try Aaswad, for authentic Maharashtrian taste.
The Ambience of the hotel is too good. The food available is typical Maharashtrian cuisine.. We tried the breakfast range. We had Kothambir Wadi, Sabudana Wada, Aloo Bonda,Misal Pav, Thalipeeth, Kharvas,Piyush and Solkadi. Except for the drink all other items were served hot and fresh 🤤
One of the most pocket friendly snacks joints... Thalipeat, Kothambir Vade, Aloowadi & Poori Bhaji is must have snacks...
EXCELLENT FOOD N GOOD AMBIENCE. ONLY CONCERN IS THE BETTER MANAGEMENT OF CROWD IN BUSY HOURS
Now worth for money. Taste was okay not so good. Ambience was good and hygienic too
Timeless Maharastrian food!
First time we visited and so happy with food, place, all staff and environment...Kharvas and Puranpoli Ice Cream tooo good.. awesome..
Ambience is so beautiful❤️ I have ordered dahi misal pav. Its not spicy. So foods taste is quite disappointing.
Grt interior. Good service. And good Maharastrain food experience. Icecream I.e. Narali Bhath and Poland poli was awesome. Enjoyed Marashtrain thali..
Staple of any maharashtrian person! Id recommend this place to everyone I know. Delicious Marathi food made with that perfect homemade touch. Id recommend ever Marathi item in their menu. Make sure you come here with some space cleared in your schedule theres usually a waiting time. For sure Id recommend that, batata Vada, sabudana wada, kothimbir wadi, Puri bhaji with srikhand, thalipeeth. 10/10 been going here since 2008.
The misal pav is a must try. Take a quick bite. I badly miss this one. The mini bowl of curd served with the delicious misal. Was great.! Nice service.!
Value for money as well as test is also good
Amazing restaurant for traditional Maharashtrian fare! 10/10 ambience, taste of dishes
One of the best snacks, I found in Mumbai
Amazing place for Maharashtrian snacks & meals. Misal Pav & Puranpoli ice cream were fantastic.
Food amazing tasty but quantity is very less , good on price , but staff is slow and lethargic is serving or taking orders ,superb interior and very well organized
बेकार taste... dont go.. waste of money.. all people given wrong review
Good interior, ambiance, fast service and food was just like homemade
Food is great as amazing as it is.. But the new outlet (opp to Shivsena bhavan dadar) still doesnt address the long waiting time for relishing one of the best meals at Aswad. Thats why 5 stars for food but 2 stars for customer management=3 stars
Today I went and ate sabudana vada I didnt like at all, no taste size small and rate is high zero marks
All the food items v had were delicious. Had a soulful meal. Authentic maharashtrian cuisine. A must try.
Best option for maharashtrian food in Dadar
Went to this restaurant yesterday and had to wait for 1 hour by telling us waiting time of 15-20 minutes... A family of 8 were just kept waiting outside... They dont have any seating arrangements outside for seniors during waiting... Many dishes were not available as thier kitchen was closed in 15 minutes of we entering it... When we ordered kotimbirwadi ... The coconut chutney was rotten... Masala rice was served with 2 bowl a piece and one was dam cold and other was warm .... It was my first time visit to his restaurant and would recommend no one to visit this...had a really horrible experience in one of the most decorated restaurant in Dadar West...
Great place. They serve only vegetarian food. The quality of the food is very good. The ambience is pleasant and the prices are also affordable. It is always crowded so be ready to wait for at least 20 minutes before you get a table to eat. The deserts were awesome and the special puranpoli ice-cream is a must try.
After hearing a lot of good reviews about this place from zomato, visited this place. A typical maharashtrian cuisine place. Had to wait for one hour before we got a place. The sitting needs to be more comfortable and the staff has to be more alert. The quality was good was good and it tasted also nice.
I dont think Aswad needs an introduction or a review . being one of the oldest, it has kept its legendary taste . For those who are first in Mumbai , just order misal pav , thalipith, or any other Maharashtrian food
Its Authentic Maharashtrian restaurant. Must try Thalepeeth (its nachni Thalepeeth) and Puranpoli icecreem. Good to go with family and friends.
One of the few restaurants in whole mumbai that serves authentication maharashtrian cuisine. Their misalpav, sabudana vada and pooranpoli ice cream is something to die for. Misalpav had the perfect blend of masala with perfect consistency. Sabudana vada was crunchy outside and soft inside with an amazing taste. The pooranpoli ice cream has small chunks of real poli and thick pooran is given separately for topping.
Great service with very nice rate.Amazing restaurant to visit.According to facilities, the quality of food and services is great.
Aaswad is our all time favorite. Right opp Sena Bhavan Dadar West makes it easy to locate. Though finding a parking spot is a task. The food here is delicious and utterly satisfying. Aaswad is popular for its Maharashtrian cuisine and they dont fail to live up to the reputation of being the best. I havent tried other cuisine (South Indian or Punjabi) at this place therefore restrict myself from commenting on it, but every time I eat here I plan to return even before finishing whats on my plate. The servers are courteous and prompt but dont expect them to pamper you. Aaswad maintains high hygiene standards, perfectly okay to take your kids for a meal.Aaswad is an absolute delight, a must visit!!!
Authentic maharashtrian food. Pls dont miss puranpoli and piyush
Food is good but no upi payment available. Only card and cash payment method available. During this covid situation upi payment is necessary.
Insane food. Loved the quality. Affordable pricing. Delicious.
New RenovationSame Taste#Aswad
Only word... AMAZING!!!They serve delicious authentic marathi cuisines and kudos to the waiters just so good with the services provided. This place definitely makes u feel at home with the taste of food and the price on their menu. One must visit this place for its taste n prices all this mouthwatering dishes are offered.
If you want to taste authentic Maharashtrian Food, this is the go to place! The food is luscious!
Authentic Maharashtrian Brahmin food. Not spicy at all. Slightly sweet, less oil and typical Maharashtrian dishes to drool on.Satvic meal is best for health freaks. Thalipith, Kothimbir Vadi & Kharvas are my personal favorites.
Ordered : Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Crush Sev Puri.Food quality is good. Ambiance is nice. Well maintained and hygienic. The prices are reasonable. The serving staff is friendly. Overall nice hotel.
It is one of the best restaurants in Mumbai. If you are looking for some authentic Maharashtrian food, then your search ends here. Expect a longer queue during peak lunch hours.
Homely food
They have shifted to a new location and everything is much better! This place serves the best Maharashtrian delicacies like Misal pav, vadas, thalipeet! Love their puran poli icecream
Amazing food. Speciality: Misal, Piyush and khas khas
Excellent place for Maharashtrian Cuisine. The major attractions are kothimbir vadi, vadapav. The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. Mithais are good too. The location is at the heart of mumbai very easy to locate. And Piyush a traditional Maharashtrian drink is amazing for Mumbai summer. The prices are not too high too.Overall a very nice experience.
