Our first time, and it was phenomenal. We are huge into Indian food and this place was top shelf. Very affordable and delicious. Super authentic. We had two “non-veg thali” dishes and it came with 2 meats, a veg, rice and naan for $14 tax in each. Just Amazing!! Highly recommended…
Half the order was missing. Of the food that we did receive, the curry had barely any meat and was a watered down curry sauce. To make matters worse, they neglected to provide the naan and rice that comes with the meal and so I was left eating curry as though its a soup. Called the restaurant and they just stated they had new staff. Save your money and order elsewhere.
First of all staff is not very good and other thing was half of our naan was uncooked. Better to go somewhere else.
Very yummy food with generous quantity and portions.Good value for money with typically authentic Indian food.I will go back there and recommend guys.Much appreciated.
It was really great place. But when i ordered it from uber, i did not got so good quality of food. It was hard to eat and also to keep for a night. I had an average experience with them. Hope to see some good stuff next time.Thank you!
Response to Owner reply: Your reply to feedback/ criticism with customer disrespect, speaks volume of business maturity and way it is run. Rest for new customers to decide based on this review and reply.——————————————-Initial feedback given: Would give it 0 stars if I could. Food is not tasty.. small and neither clean. Costs as much as a normal clean restaurant. There are better options around
The food is great. One of the best in montreal. But the guy at the counter has zero knowledge on how to treat a customer. Made us wait at the counter ignored us completely even though he wasn’t doing anything. Good food but worst customer service
I didn’t try the food there but I was going to tonight.I pass in front of it everyday and doesn’t attract me much but wanted to give it a try. Like almost everyone I have checked the reviews and oh my god the owner answers to paying customers are just unbeliveable. This person can’t take a negative feedback, you must see this yourself.Trust me I won’t ever put one foot in your restaurant and the word will spread fast.Again I can’t judge the food but the disgusting attitude of the owner is enough to blacklist this place.I was so shocked that I had to take a few minutes to leave a review.
Order from Skip and discovered amazing Korma ! The meals I got were authentic, delicious and very reasonably priced.
Great taste Great price. Nice service. Worth a visit and then revisits.
In few words: big portions, affordable , and tasty. I love East Indian food and this little restaurant, who can hold around 20 people, have everything I love from hot spicy samosa to mild vegetables mix. They were patient with us and we had a great service. The only down side is it is very small but the food is worth it!
Nice and it could have been better . Giving four stars because the oil was more than needed
Truly blown away by such an amazing restaurant!! Amazing food! We had been travelling with kids ..after being on road for 5 days and eating fast food we really wanted some comfort yet healthy food. Had butter chicken, goat curry, chana bhatura for dinner..we loved everything so much that we ordered more the next day - nonveg thali, chicken biryani! Everything was perfect and tasted amazing..very much like mom’s home made food!!
Not spammy it is about yesterday i wait for 20-30 minutes but you ask the british people first and told your partner that see us after them even we was in line … its not fake
My ultimate favorite Indian place , keep up the great food 😋
Some of the best Indian food I’ve had.Chaat, biriani, butter chicken, vegetable curry, samosas and ofc the garlic naan are great! To the person replying to all the google reviews, you’re an icon. After reading the reviews and the replies I wanted to see if the food held up and it totally does. Good work!!
Worst Indian food corner in MTL. Tried 3 times from here, every time it was worst. Never go there. Food is not fresh and greasy as hell. Have thrown whole food in garage once again.. Never going there again!!
Chole bhature is good but samosa are very bad. Poor cleaning.
A little close to home made Indian curries at decent prices
Good rates.. Decent taste... Fast service..I generally go there to get garlic naan and plain naan. I don’t prefer curry from there as they give their portion from the regular thali menu and doesn’t customize it to your taste and requirements. The samosas are good and only at $1.25 per piece which is quite economical. The service is fast. It’s a good restaurant for a decent taste without too much burden on your pockets. But if you want authentic indian taste there are many other places in the downtown area.
I ordered through ubereat. The food is amazing
The thali was nice, and i especially liked their lamb.
Ive been coming here throughout my college and university career, always a pleasure and food tastes amazing ! Portions are a great bonus and location is both ideal for students and working professionals. I was wondering have you guys changed the Palak Paneer Recipe? It tastes a little more earthy than usual but no biggie. Keep up the good work and wishing you much success :)
Best Indian food in Montreal! I know the place since over 10 years, its legendary! Amazing tasty food, generous portions, low prices, spicy just perfect, all their dishes are delicious, my favorites are the butter chicken, their naan and rice, gulab jamun, and tandoori chicken! The family is so nice, polite, and makes it a great experience! I like how it not service at the table, more like a buffet that they serve you, nothing fancy and friendly ambience! A must if you visit downtown Montreal! Dont miss it!
I have tried the restaurant 3-4 times but each time it was a disappointment.Even last night I bought some rotis and they were too thick, like a human being cannot eat such thick rotis.
This is one of the worst samosa i have ever ate in my life . When i took bike it felt like rubber so you can imagine how old it wasTotally disgusting . I think they just refried it.I order from doordash , I didn’t have order number otherwise i will definitely make a proper complaint. it’s not about money but about the hygine and health of customers.
Excellent food and staff. Ive observed it has been a bit difficult to restart after the pandemic but its the case for all restos Ive been to recently.
We ordered samosa ,it was rigid like rubber i tried to put video with review but i was not able to do so .Samosa was not fresh or fried week ago ... i ate few pieces even ,but m feeling so bad cause i never throw food ... please try to make it better and serve it fresh (IF i was trying it for the first time ... i would never try it again )i’m from 🇮🇳(i have tasted samosa for hundreds of times so don’t reply me like others that i have to develop taste ,i know how it tastes like )i orderd it no door dash at 7:02 pm (24/june)
I’ve loved this restaurant for years. Tasty and cheap. But beware about ordering online. They cancelled a DoorDashorder that was supposed to arrive in 20 mins (I live just down the road) after 50 mins. Left without dinner.
Worst Experience. They didn’t even clean the table when I went to eat 🤮🤮
The reason for my less rating is that the staff was super impolite and rude. Honestly way better options are available. Would never go back again.
Still the same Thali. Have been regular there and the taste has not changed much. Food is good, price of thali has increased a bit. Sometimes fail to include papad in the thali while delivering.
Samosa is very good and the chutni also. They have thali which is very affordableYou can order on the phone otherwise you might have to wait longer at the store. I recommend this store very good food and quick 👍
Beryani is good, but the yogurt smells weird. I think it is expired!
I have been here twice before, pre-pandemic. Food was passable but the temperature inside matched that of outside which isnt pleasant when its 30 below or 30 above. Meat portions arent very generous and prices have gone up it seems.1 star for the snarkiness of the owner on peoples legitimate complaints so I can remember never to go here again.
Ordered two dishes. I didn’t like them a bit. May be personal choice.
The food tastes amazing.. portions are good too at reasonable price.
Butter chicken had a weird smell. Ok place
Worst place to eat in Montreal, never ever eating anything from this place. We had chicken tikka wrap and the chicken was like rocks stay away.
I have been to multiple Indian restaurants around Montreal as I am a huge fan of this cuisine. This is by far the worst place to go to, very unfortunate. The food is not of Indian flavours and rather very salty. The chicken is dry and the lamb is full of bones. The vegetarian platters are also very disappointing. Stay away there are so many other options in this wonderful city.
I’ve been going to thali since 2013 and it is one of my favourite places in Montreal. The BEST Palak Paneer I’ve ever had was from here. I never fail to eat every little thing on my plate
I wish there was a option to give this restaurant 0 star rating. They didn’t send the full order as there were items were missing and they didn’t follow the instructions on the rest of the order. When I called them regarding the mistakes that were made, instead of being apologetic they were rude and did nothing to correct the mistake. They hung up the call, that’s how they treat the customers and I hope places like these lose business because they don’t deserve anything good.
Great little restaurant, serving good food for cheap. They cut the costs on frills that make other restaurants needlessly expensive. Very straightforward, good quality food, fast and friendly service. The meal I chose was 11$ and I got, naan bread, rice, two choices of meat curries (among 4-5 choices) and one choice of vegetable curry (among 7-8 choices). Everything was delicious.
This is my one of the worst experiences with india restaurants....there was no hospitality..they dont even care for their customers....i was waiting there for more than 5 min just to order eventhough there was no one...Dont ever recommend this restaurant....
Yummy food! We ordered Chicken Tandoori, Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Dahl, Potatoes & Cauliflower, roti and some chutneys! Portions are big, prices are great, and service is efficient! Parking could be a challenge - but the food makes up for it! Will be back!
I was here on a trip, was looking for a place to get decent food. I read reviews so I thought 4 is not bad rating, I did read the owner had not taken criticism well so the sense of his customer service was a red flag indication of owners lack attention to customer satisfaction. Everyone was well behaved dont get me wrong. But we are there for food and when you cant taste butter in butter chicken you can understand the level of dissatisfaction. I had 3 curries but all tasted the same which was a little spice. If you close eyes and taste all gravy you wont figure out butter chicken. My humble request to owner you have a nice thing going for you just pay attention to food taste what you are serving. You can do wonders. As a desi you crave the same taste as back home so if you are on a trip here read latest reviews see if a desi posted positive review maybe it was just today but I had a disappointing experience. To owner, I wish you success and well but you need to improve food and believe me nothing personal 🙏 peace
Hot biryani is tasty!
A lovely staple to this community for over 10 years now. This business does not only serve excellent food it has improved our neighbourhood of Shaughnessy Village. Thank You 👍👍👍!!!
Delicious hygienic food at average rates
You need to learn how to take criticism and talk to people who didnt liked your service. I mean it doesnt hurt to ask the dissatisfied costumers how you can make your service better or just apologizing that your product wasnt for them. what a entitled aholeI have a big family and friend circle i served them your food and they didnt like it and they all saw your comment replies and they all hate you now. You dont deserve to have a license to run your business.
Literally very rude staff. Guys hire some nice guys.! Thanks for the food
Owner behaves in ridiculous manner and food is so bad
Live 9ne dish I keep going for Karri.
No good service no good behaviour just waste money 💰
You may have to wait for a seat and it may be crammed and the seats not fancy. But the food I tell you, will satisfy your belly and mind. Yet, I dont think we have such good prices even in India! Here is what we had after being super hungry wandering around the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal whole day.Mutton Samosa. -1 pc.Alu Tikki Chaat -2pc.Chole Bhatura (2 bhatura , Chole).Non Veg Thali ( Choice of two meats and one veg curry, rice and one big Naan)Masala Chai -2Total: 36.7 CAD!!!!!Service is also decent. With the place always being full they are a bit stretched, but manage to be pleasing and cooperative. You can always help yourselves to get the dishes once served and put them away after you are done too!
I bought samosas from there..it was not cooked properly half portion was raw dough...
Really great food at a low price, we were able to to each get the Non-Veg meal for $11 (tax in) per meal, with an assortment of two meats, vegetables, naan bread, etc. My boyfriend comes here often during his lunch hour and often says its hard to find a seat. it was my first time eating here last night and found it to b enjoyable. Id return, my favorite was the chili chicken and Chana masala!
Such a good and one of most famous place for Indian food in montreal
The tandoori chicken breast is great.
Ive been to many places in town and this is my favorite spot. Im here weekly and I know the staff. The kids love the Butter Chicken (love dipping with the Naan) and have to have a lot of respect for a restaurant like this enduring these times. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Worst food and so rude staff will never go back there again
Loved it! I dont get it? We have a ton of Indian restos in the GTA but this place in Montreal (1409 St Marc) hit the spot. Please open one here. Preferably in the Brampton area 😁🙏🇨🇦
Went to buy a dish (bhel 23Jan evening) which i have ordered multiple times before, but one girl made the dish in the thermocol box itself instead of a utensil, when asked she says thats how we make it, where as I remember the owner old lady makes bhel in a utensil and then put it in a thermocol box for take out. She also added yogurt in the bhel which is really not normal, the crispiness of puffed rice is no more when u add yogurt, its necessay to have a trained staff and if they are not interested you can find may people around to work. you can also keep written instruction with the ingredients to add for a specific dish. I hope this helps to improve the service, customer knows what they want to buy.
I love it here, a bit time consuming but the quality makes up for it.
Thali is one of my favorite restaurants because of the speed of the service and the quality of the food. Its a food counter, so you simply pay up front and the staff will serve you food to go or for takeout. The prices are reasonable and everything is delicious. I enjoy the Indian music playing in the background and the guy who takes your order is always friendly. The place is often full but people come and go quite quickly so youll most likely get a seat after placing your order. Its simple, fast and delicious.
Being an Indian, I always try to find good Indian restaurants, this restaurant is near to my place, I have tried almost everything I’m their menu, I don’t like their butter chicken and biryaniBut I totally love their samosas and mango lassi,Also their cholle bhatures are good but the best. But according to price point it’s good. It’s cheap and have a good portion size so.
Like home made Indian food
We are so blessed that have you guys open again. Finally, real food downtown and Montreals best Samosa! How they do those passe Best of every year ... Well you guys have best Butter Chicken & Samosas in town!
Used to be great quality for great pricing, for yeaaars. Now pricing is still fine but quality is not there anymore.
My last visit to thali was in 2015. It is my favourite indian restaurant in the city. Came back today and was kind of surprised by the quality of the beef curry. It was tasteless and lacked spice. This place is one of the good indian cuisines in downtown, and that is why i had high expectations. I hope my experience was an exceptionOverall the place is a must-go in montreal and the price is good.
They recently raised the price, while lowering the portion sizes. And the recipes seemed to be changed, the paneer was watery, the beef was full of inedible seed pods, the eggplant was bland. Never going back.
