A rustic little rooftop bar right in the middle of Federation Square where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. You can relax here and enjoy an amazing view of the Melbourne skyline on the balcony with a decent range of beer on tap, funky cocktail list and tasty food menu - I cannot explain how delicious the wagyu dumplings are unless you try them! I got a bit lost on the way up and mistook the restaurant on level 2 for Transit so keep climbing the stairs until you hit the top! A big shout out to Andy for his friendly and professional service.
Always amazing service by the staff!! Beautiful food and amazing view. This is my weekly go to bar 🥰
Great views. Very relaxed, staff are lovely. Has live music which is always incredible.
Arrived around 9 and had a cocktail whilst enjoying the view over the Yarra for an hour. Back at 11 to enjoy the final sets of a Jazz band. Im confident they were brilliant even though I forget their name. Why? Everyone listening wanted more. ..not just those of us slightly enibriated ❤❤🍾🥂🥂🥂
Lovely 180° view from the Transit Rooftop Bar at Fed Square. I adored the French music and jazz music. We enjoyed lovely cocktails and cider and chilli chips with mayonnaise and sauce. The staff made us feel very welcome and provided table service. I liked the décor and choice of seating. Very casual yet cool atmosphere. I will definitely choose to meet friends here again.
Great views. Chilled vibe - bouncers are great at keeping the trash out.
The waitress with short hair was very rude, she literally threw food on the table and made ignoring faces. She got upset because it started to rain outside and we changed our table like everyone did. The table we changed to was just 3 metres away under the shed, we waved her when she got our food but still she behaved rudely and didn’t care what we told her that why we changed tables. I am sure that she was racist because she was so polite and smiling when she served food to others who switched tables due to rain.
At transit take a Taxi upstairs you will find every culture rotating on the rooftop with live music behind Melbournes famous city skyline... sure to get those feet moving ❣️
Nice venue, great location and views but some of the staff need to work on their basic customer service skills which is pretty much the only reason Im giving a bad rating. I never thought asking for a slice of lemon or lime for a gin and tonic would be an issue in a bar, but the response from the staff member was passive aggressive. I will recommend other venues before here.
Great food, excellent service, reasonable prices.
Great, service and atmosphere, drinks really expensive, expect 20 bucks a cocktail or more.
Great place service is wonderful and can make some great cocktails. The food is good too can make a really good Parma.
Great vistaToo many nice whiskys (yes I did go there).
Absolutely fantastic,really wonderful time we had...service,food and entertainment...thank you👍👍👍👍
Great view. great cheeseboard.
Summer afternoon noon while the suns going down, this is the place were you can kick back and enjoy the drinks and views.
Really chill place, the bartender knows what hes doing and the food came quickly and was really fresh and tasty.
Really cool place to enjoy with ur homies with a good view 😜
Good food, service and space.. ❤
A very underrated rooftop bar with fabulous skyline views. Cant wait to be back after the restrictions ease.
Far too loud :/ please reduce the volume :/ are you trying to deafen us? :(
Great rooftop bar overlooking the Yarra. Good range of drinks.
Cool place, was cold when we went but we were prepared.
Best bar to enjoy a balmy Melb evening. Great cocktail and views
Your staff upstairs need to learn manners. Being talked down to isnt what you want when dining out during these times. Id rather go somewhere else thanks.
Rudest customer service by the guy who was there. I needed to use the washroom urgently and i was showed the door by him saying no public toilet. However the counter girl showed me the way to the wash room but then this guy interfered, i was more than happy to buy something off the menu. Treat people with respect.
Great service and great cocktails
Great spot for a drink with a view!
We went to a corporate finger food style function and it was a great space for this type of event. Plenty of room to move yet a good range of seating if required. The staff, food and wine were all excellent.
Poor service. We were booked from 7 to 9 pm as per Covid-19 regulations, the waiter came at 8:45 to remind us to vacate at 9 pm but 2 of us had not received our meals at that time.Instead of apologising and saying I will chase it up, we had to prove we had placed and paid for the meals that had not been prepared.Poor Service.
Great location, great covid management plan and average prices for Melbourne
We had heard of this rooftop bar from some friends and decided to enjoy a beverage over the river before heading back to our boat. I was enjoying an Aperol Spritz when Jonas, a waiter, came by and suggested trying the drink with Campari. While ordering our next rounds, the bar tender suggested a Select Spritz, so we got one each. Jonas’ recommendation was spot on! Thank you Jonas👍🏻👍🏻
Really good cocktails and great views
Eh, it was all right but not somewhere Id return to. Being a rooftop bar and on the river, I was expecting to have a wonderful view. The walls are tall and metal, not glass, so not able to enjoy the view. The prices were also quite steep and the food was just ok. Next time Im in Melbourne, Ill be finding another place to try.
Great bar with great bands. I saw the Moonhops there last night and it was world class!
Nice rooftop bar and good view
Georgie at transit bar is AMAZING. I told her what alcohol and flavors I love and she made me craft cocktails all night. I was there on a quiet night so she had the time to make outstanding cocktails and she was the sweetest all night. She made me feel like I was important and appreciated. Im glad I came to this bar.
We had an excellent lunch with a nice view of the park across the river. I had rare kangaroo, which was served on small black rocks. Delicious and very tender meat. We shared an order of shoestring fries, which were beautifully crisp and flavoured with a spicy salt, just kicky enough to make the cider on tap taste even better.
First appearances this place is great, it’s right near the river and over sees the CBD. Drinks aren’t too pricey for a schooner (normally pint prices). Then we ordered the food (NEVER DO THIS!!). The supposedly gourmet burger doesn’t come with fries/chips or anything else for that matter; because it’s “gourmet”. I’ve had nicer burgers from fast food venues. So I had to order an extra portion of fries ($12 for fries!!).My girlfriend ordered the pork belly - she gets no more than an inch and a half cubed of pork belly and barely a salad garnish next to it - absolute joke!!
Nice views, good outdoor area with heaters and some cover from rain. Only had burgers and they are delicious. +5 stars for food and drink, +1 star for views and atmosphere. Subtract 2 stars for giant mirrors in the bathroom: being able to see anyones junk from any angle = unsubscribe. Try the wagyu!
Transits Rooftop is definitely its selling point. The views around Fed Square and Melbourne are practically unmatched.Unfortunately, I feel the selection of food does let it down. They dont do anything as simple as just a bowl of chips or wedges. The drinks are pricey, which is to be expected in that area. The balcony is a smoking section too.
Dont know if I want to tell people that this is a great location to meet up for drinks on a Friday night. NO ITS NOT - STAY AWAY! The rooftop is actually enclosed and very cosy for small groups, with a balcony for those who need the air. DONT COME HERE! A live band is playing on Friday nights, well worth checking out. NO ITS NOT! On the downside, the drinks are a bit pricey. Maybe thats the reason it wasnt packed. EXPENSIVE - STAY AWAY!
The bar was open on the second time of trying (it appears to be used reasonably frequently as private venue hire, so check on line before going. Has a nice vibe, great outlook but was unfortunately let down completely by the over bassed sound quality which mean no spoken words could be understood ...The singer was ok but not great
To all my fellow backpackers:Okay.... So I just ordered two shots of $17 tequila at Transit bar. I LOVE tequila. Im from the US. I visit Mexico often. Im a fan... Anyways. When I asked for lime I was told no. The bartender then proceeded to move the limes away like I would actually reach over and take one. Then told me, thats not how we do tequila. ( Im sorry but this is Australia, you guys dont really ever do tequila). Then when I said I had been working in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and had never refused something so petty as a lime to a guest in any establishment; he said well thats my rules and I dont think tequila should be served with a lime.I dont care what you want to serve with lime. Its good alone, its good with lime, lemon, orange. Thats not the point.CONNOR at Transit bar refused service to a sober, paying guest and Im pissed off about it.Im asking all you backpackers to help with me leaving a review. Only because... My last statement to him being, I cant believe you reused service to a guest was met with from him, youre not from here, I dont really care.Cheers folks
Very friendly staff and great place to drink and enjoy the night. I was feeling down from the loss of a loved one. The manager noticed that and immediately gave me a free drink. Shows that they care also about the wellbeing of their customers and not just their pockets. Will certainly come back again when I am next in Melbourne!
Very poor experience here. Came here to enjoy a Guinness with my fellow travellers on a quiet afternoon. Was informed they only served the beverage downstairs and could bring it upstairs to return to my friends. The security stopped me and said that I could not go upstairs and that it confirmed a “procedure” that was not explained. I was refused a refund of 11.50 and told to drink it alone downstairs. No common sense and poor service. Will not be here again.
Very good rooftop bar! Good city view. Excellent place for a few drinks
Great view to have a quiet drink and watch the city go by.
Great view, surprising how many people don’t know about the rooftop. Always drop in with visitors to Melbourne
Great staff, make me feel we are welcomed. Nice view to the Yarra River while enjoying your beer. Offer lots of choices for drinks.
Trendy Melbourne rooftop bar with views over the Botanical Gardens, Yarra River and Melbourne Art centre precinct. Smooth jazz, cocktails and Australian boutique beers and wines and an amazing food menu. Perfect for a sneaky Espresso Martini on a lazy afternoon 🍸🌚
Awesome location up above the river. Great view from most tables. Only came for beers, can’t speak to the food.
Great location. Fab live music. Staff friendly prices tad high hence the lost star. But otherwise nice spot but wont go often due to prices.
Spent a fantastic afternoon there on Anzac Day. Great food and plenty of drinks to choose from. The views are awesome over the river. The spire of the Art Gallery. Government house in the background.
Great view over the Yarra River and cool vibe
Drinks were a decent price, a little on the high side but probably comparable for the location. Friendly and fast service. We did not order any food.
Great vibe and great cocktails. A viewing heading south of the river is a nice change
Staffs were great
Drinks a bit steep, but cool view of the river.m at night from the rooftop bar
Nice local. Delicious beer on tap. Great live jazz band on Saturday night.
Awesome spot looking over the river. Great friendly staff, great vibe and live music to top it all off.
Drinks are terrible, it might be good for a beer though.. Keep it simple
Go there on a summer evening..highly recommended..this area is usually booked for functions but maaaaate...truly spectacular views at night..Great food, good service, nice cold beer n cider on tap. Directly opposite Flinders st railway station.
Good view and good drinks had some sharing food was yummy but $$ for what it was. still was really good.
Great view. Friendly service. Great live music.
Great Valentines Day dinner, excellent service from the staff with a really personal touch. Kitchen impressed with the degustation, but I think the value from the bar was the only thing stopping a 5th star. $20 cocktails were only so-so for the money.
Excellent city views, friendly staff good atmosphere. The only downside is the menu and the serving sizes relative to the price (expensive) / quality.
Great view/service. Little bit Xie 4a beer ($10) otherwise recommend
Great view, waiters kept the drinks flowing with table service drinks.
Lovely outdoor and indoor seating areas, courteous staff and a classy vibe made my evening at Transit absolutely delightful, and I dont even drink!
Nice spot when its not too busy. Great view and a good drink selection.
What a awesome time and great food and drink
Cant really see much once you sit down. Fries were ok, drinks were weak and one of the staff at the bar were really unfriendly (maybe they were having a bad day).
Great atmosphere. Loved the piano bar. Good views
Great location, great views and the staff were the friendliest Ive met in Melbourne!!
Nice view of the Yarra, good food to nibble, but a little pricey
Terrible customer service when I tried to politely explain how I had been overcharged and the staff were very rude to me about it and I work in hospitality and I know how to politely explain a situation so there was no need for the hostility. Used to come here a lot with my friends and will be telling everyone not to come back.
Live music, good food, drink and location. Let down by obscured view and smokers
Just found this place existed! Used my Entertainment voucher on the rooftop and ordered a bottle of wine and cheese platter. Great views!
Great atmosphere, awesome music, staff n view
