Stopped here on my trip to mlore. Place was empty for lunch, which was good for us in this pandemic :) service is good. Food is also good. We tried the ghee roast (which is different to the regular preparation I have had), prawn butter garlic was good too. The Pomphret rava was the WHOLE fish and the rava was bit hard and hence wasnt that great. Please do the price for the fish before ordering.

The fish (banguda fry) tasted stale, the other items were just ok.

Really good food. Clean.The figs was fresh and very well fried. The biryani was great too! Good service and food at a great price!

The foods amazing as always but The service needs a lot of work on and were out of boil rice by 2 o clock 🙆

Quality of food is good but quantity is very less than average, a half plate biryani had less than quarter part available in any other restaurants and price was few rupees extra

Its a typical Kerala style Fish food serving Restaurant. Many kinds of fish foods are available and also chicken and mutton menus also available.But I prefer you to taste fish rather other menu.I really liked the spicy taste food here.Its very good place for family....

While returning back to Mangalore near Surathkal we had a quick lunch here.The Kodai Rawa fry and Anjal tawa fry were tasty.. rightly spiced and huge portion sized. The Chicken thali and Veg thali was not bad at all. But clearly their speciality is different varieties of fish preparations. Large seating space efficient service and good parking available.

Hola ppl Surmaai restaurant is a heaven for seafood lovers. The place is located at hosabettu on the highway so one can easily recognise the restaurant. The ambience is pretty decent with lot of seating capacity. Being Sunday the place was filled mostly with travellers.We had gone for lunch by the time we enter the restaurant it was packed with customers. We had to wait for 10-15 min to get our table. The menu looks interesting. We had ordered fish thali,bangada fry( red tawa fry,green tawa fry, masala fry) the fish meals was kk with rice,fish gravy, 1 curry, sweet, sambar, chutney and pickle, but the buttermilk was missing when asked for it,they said it was over. The red tawa fry was numb with no spiciness in it 😅 😅 there was no feeling of eating a fish fry. The green tawa fry was awesome with right amount of spice in it. Even the masala fry was upto the mark.I think staff should be more active when there is a huge crowd. We got our food after long wait of 30 min. I was satisfied with the food which is reasonable and budget friendly. I would love to try other items from the menu in coming days.Overall rating : 3/5ambience : 3/5staff : 2.5/5food : 3/5

Its an nice seafood restaurant near Mangalore highway I tried Fish fry it was very tasty especially its masala was too good ,I also had boiled rice with fish curry. Value for money

Located although the highway Surmaii sea food restaurant was a delight to try out in Suratkal. We loved the Tawa fried Anjal Prawn Ghee roast.More than adequate seating capability present.It is a non ac family restaurant but fortunately cause of the high ceiling it doesn’t get too hot.Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone passing by this restaurant.Value for the price is reasonable.

If you compare the taste of the food in this area (hosabettu) and surathkal this will be the best because according to taste wise the dishes which I have bought are very good and excellent this is the only hotel which will try to satisfy the customer by making a dry item dish into an semi gravy or vice-versa . This hotel is also specialised on fish items And I have to specify that my family has an interest on fishes and they love this hotel for that and anytime any guest comes to our house they will tell us to take them to this hotel only to have a fish item . Compareing the hotels of hosabettu and surathkal according to the price of the food items it is very less compared to other hotel . Because I have been in this area since my childhood and I have checked the food and their sanity of the hotel . You will be suprised that this hotel is the best in this area .

A place where 50 Rs items are charged 100 Rs and tastes so bad. Fish curry rice is worst. Absolutely tasteless. Bangda fry was decent but expensive. Overall bad experience. Small hotels serving fish meals offer a lot better than this.

Service was very poor. We had to wait for half an hour just to get fish curry rice and bangude fry.Fish curry was tasteless. Boiled rice was polished and did not give authentic taste. Bangude fry was decent. But overall expensive and not worth at all.

Fantastic food,priced very reasonably, compared to the prices in Mangalore city, especially Surmaai,squid felt the quantity could be a little more(for the price), however was tasty n fresh,sorry no images of the food itself as forgot after looking,was really delicious.4* because the staff could have a smile on the face n quantity of squid! And, no,the food is definitely not Kerala style,its South Canara/Mangalore style, albeit with similarities!

A very convenient location right by the highway. Food served was good enough and hygienic. The fish served was fresh.Price is reasonable. Service was quick and special mention for the staff who were very polite and considerate towards senior member of our family.

As the name, sea food is available in here which are good in taste. Hotel is located very close to road side not noisy though. Vast space is available can occupy quite a number of people. Since the roofing is done with sheet ambience doesnt look that great also its hot during summer. Tastes differ sometimes are good in taste and sometimes not. Could be visited as a try 😉

Very airy, cool place. Although not air conditioned. Overall ambience is decent. Its clean and well maintained.Food is good. Meets expectations, but nothing more. Doesnt have any wow factor. Its well priced, not too expensive, but more than the average for a highway restaurant.

Experience with the staff wasnt good, takes them 5 minutes to get a Menu even though theres no crowd. The Menu is quite small compared to what they used to offer before.Edit : Editing a year later, the restaurant has gotten worse. I dont know if they keep changing chef, but the food at times doesnt even have consistency. Even at the Swiggy order, with different gravies, will have the same base with different veggies. It was a good place when it had opened long back.

Its really good to find some comfortable place to eat around!And there is this place which is like a light through the dark place!Its not a bad idea to pull over this place and taste the real taste of Mangalore!Exploring a place starts from the food at that place!

No air conditioning, food is above average, quality is down in 2018 from 2017. Good option for a passing lunch. Thali is very cheap and just if 50 bucks it includes a fish curry with a small piece in it. Tried tawa fish and was good. Service is fast. Crowd is mostly office lunch crowd and few families.
