Beautiful, generous food and service - all in one. What can I say? I used to come here years ago when I was closer to the area. Came back to try after all these years and it was better than ever! I really dont think you can go wrong on the menu to be honest, no matter what you choose. Very reasonable prices considering the quality. Generous helpings - lovely atmosphere. The service was IMPRECABLE, wonderful, and faultless. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I would strongly recommend Ayutthaya Thai Restaurant. An incredibly diverse menu to choose from. Only a professional restaurant could pull this off - and they do.

This Thai restusrant is found in Jackson St in Petone, Lower Hutt. Their service was very fast. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Serving sizes were very good. Prices were reasonable, my green curry chicken and rice was $20. The decor was very pleasant. I would go again.

We have just left this restaurant without finishing our food because our satay chicken kebabs were served to us raw! My partner noticed they were raw on the inside after he ate two, and I ate one. The staff were very apologetical after realizing we were extremely concerned, however they did not check any body elses chicken, as I suggested they did, which worried me deeply. The chicken kebabs were covered in yellow seasoning, making it impossible to know how cooked they were without seeing the inside. Before realizing the chicken was raw, we commented on how fast the food arrived, apparently too fast to be cooked properly! We will not be returning, and are hoping we dont get sick from eating the raw chicken.

Good portion sizes, had the yellow curry was a bit watery but still tasted nice with lots of pieces of meat. But other than that great staff, clean and tidy restaurant and the food didnt take too long to arrive at the table.

We went there in December 2020, for our entree we were served chicken skewers that were bright pink in the middle and still undercooked. For our mains the Pad Thai noodles were still hard and undercooked again, the pork was chewy and hard. The waitress saw that we had left the uncooked chicken on our plates (we did not say anything) and came over and said she would ask her manager what she could do. When we came to pay the manager rang us up and didn’t even apologise for the undercooked chicken. We didn’t feel right to complain or mention the uncooked chicken in front of other paying customers but the food and service were awful. 0/10

This used to be a favourite Thai place of ours. On a recent visit the starters were the best thing but the yellow chicken curry was terrible- plenty of meat but thin and watery with absolutely no flavour. It needed much more curry paste and coconut milk. Not terribly good value either- the rice didnt come with it and was $3 extra for a very small portion. Easy to see why the Thai place in the next block was much busier.

Petone in general is better than Wellington for people dining while suffering from a minor case of being youth challenged. There are a few good value places on Jackson Street, this is one of them.

Have been going here for years and love it.. ventured back post covid... felt like it was maybe a new chef because the food was amazing, it normally is good but we had the tastiest meal ever. We had a chicken kumara curry, spicy soup, pork n mushroom money bags and spring rolls. Flavour had really stepped up and I cant wait for more

The food has changed unfortunately and not for the better, bland and flavourless which doesnt match the price point. Service good, although we were keen on a dessert but were never asked if wed like one as an up sale. Find a new chef that understands flavour combinations, sweet and sour chicken was had mostly watery tomatoes and wasnt sweet, and the chicken cashew had 3 cashew nuts and very little chicken. Bit of a let down as this use to be a favourite. All the best.

Ordered on a Wednesday night delivered by delivereasy, this wasnt just bad thai food it was just plain BAD. The pad thai was genuinely the worse we have very eaten, packets from the supermarket are better and they taste terrible. This also had capsicum pieces on top which is not listed on in the ingredients.The Ginger chicken was bland and almost tasteless, how does a restaurant make ginger taste like nothing? The chicken was like rubber while the rice we received was clearly old, stuck together and only half heated through. The best thing about the dish was the mushrooms which actually had some decent flavour, it is just a pity there were not many of them

We visited with some business guests again last Saturday, and were not disappointed, some of the same staff are still there. The meals were excellent as was the service. The restaurant was packed out, fortunately we had booked earlier.Cant go wrong here for an authentic Thai meal.My rating is now 5 star, I couldnt fault it.My review 2 years ago:-Nice friendly staff, disappointing that it hasnt got a liquor licence though.Meal selection excellent, and well presented.MSG free if you dont want it included, also they provide gluten free meals.

This USED to be one of our favourites. Food was average and we waited 1.5 hours between our entree and mains. Won’t be going here again.

Well I have to say.. I went to Ayutthaya last night... I Always book the Window seat.. the food here is amazing as is the time you get served and the food cannot be faulted and Very reasonable... However up until very recently I would not have said the Customer service was that great...Last night - I didnt get my window table.. however the lady in charge came up to me and touched my shoulder...Sorry I couldnt give you your window seat this time she said - I was blown away.. wow... I didnt even know she had noticed me :) Just shows you. Not surprisingly this place is Always very busy and Bookings Are Essential 100/100 :)Previous reviewFood is fantastic..Customer service not so. Cannot fault the food, its very nice and very reasonable but the service they provide when you ring up or pay is not. Im really disappointed with this place. We usually order Thai from another restaurant but it was closed today, so we decided to give Ayutthaya a try. We shouldnt have. The pad thai was flavourless and they barely gave us enough for one person. I couldnt eat it. We ended up reheating left over pizza instead. Please dont waste your money here.

Best place and amazing foods I ever had in Petone. I have tried few menus, didnt remember what the name was it, they were awesome, delicious I will definitely go back with my family again.

Have been there twice recently (Sept 17) and loved the food and atmosphere. Well priced as well. Good dining and nothing pretentious about the place. Taking the family out tomorrow for tea and they were all keen to go there again - only two weeks after the last visit!

Came here for a work dinner, we all ordered dishes for us to share. Bit of a wait for our food which is understandable when its so busy. Service was pretty good, always refilled our glasses when need be. Im definetly coming here again. I loved it.

Staff are pleasant and the service is quick but the food is not great. We ordered two very different dishes but they tasted almost identical. None of the freshness usually associated with this style of food, instead a fatty heavy texture tot he dishes.

All of the dishes ordered by the table were generous proportions and well prepared. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

My partner and I love our thai kai and this place is on point . Flavours definitely well balanced spicy n hot with a tang of citrus. Like many others that have been here to eat cant remember the names of wot I ordered so defs going back 2moro nite for dinner so gna take a photo of menu. And post pictures. Our first visit was on Tuesday 13th August. Highly recommend for those that love there thai kai!

I guess I wasnt impressed with my Pad Thai, Ive had better. One of the ladies returned her meal as it was too hot the chilli index didnt work. Restaurant was busy so has a large amount of people who like it I must have been there on a bad day. Food came out fast but was bland, staff dealt with complaint but body language didnt come across so lady who returned food felt out of place.

Wow, this is the worst Thai food weve had in 6+ years. The lady at the counter seemed to only want to serve me after she ran out of papers and things to shuffle and re-arrange. The first disappointment of many this evening - every other Thai restaurant Ive been to have been soooo friendly... not tonight!We ordered the yellow Thai curry with chicken - and thats pretty much all there was, a few bits of chicken and a few bits of kumara. The rest, 90%, was curry sauce, and by sauce I mean water. It was insipid at best. There was a hint of spice, but nothing to call it a curry.We also ordered the red curry with chicken. It was equally bland - no complexity of flavours, no depth, and only a hint of spiciness.We also decided to get the chicken satays as she indicated the curry servings were small. There were 6 dried-out skewers with chicken on them, and sauce in the little pottle was what appeared to be sweet-and-sour chilli, with bits of peanut in it. Is this what passes as satay sauce these days?? BTW, it was gross.So, with rice, it came to $46! My eyes popped when she told me this - and worse, when we got home and began eating, the true value of this meal came to the fore... we threw the satays down the disposal unit - they were inedible. The rice was gluggy, passable. And as previously mentioned, the curries were nearly tasteless. Actual value of this meal? $0.Next time we will go back to Bhudda Stix - 1 million percent better!!! If only there was the option for zero stars....
