The food was excellent. We had prawn and pork dumplings and crispy tofu to start with. The tofu was melt-in-your-mouth soft. The dumplings were absolutely delicious. We ordered a pad thai and a red curry with pineapple for mains. Both were incredible. Would 100% recommend this place. Service was excellent as well.

The food was excellent and service was very good. We went there on a Wednesday evening and did not have a reservation but still got a table for two.I liked that they brought our food very fast. I had the wild ginger beef which was an explosion of flavour in my mouth, awesome! Meat was very tender. I also liked the rice roll and the broccoli.Would have given 5 stars but it was quite pricey (especially the rice roll portion I found was a little small).

I visited Patara Soho on a Thursday evening with 5 friends, we had pre booked so had no issue getting a table it was fairly busy.Atmosphere was good we was sat downstairs would have preferred the ground floor but it was fairly busy so that’s understandable. Now to the food I went with 2 vegetarians, who really enjoyed the food and the selection they was given which was a huge plus. The food was really tasty this included the chilli beef and green chicken curry. The portion sizes were more generous than expected and the food was overall very tasty!I made a special request for a cake which was forgotten generally the service was average and not as attentive as it could have been.

Where do I start?Utterly disappointed would be an understatement. We ordered the food, expecting authentic FRESH Thai food.As always, I order my favourite Chicken Green Curry, the food arrived in 5 minutes which led me to believe this was pre-cooked and probably heated in either a microwave or lightly heated on a pan. The taste was probably 5/10. Rosas had more of a kick to it than this one for half the price. We also ordered sticky rice for £4.50 or so. It was heated in a microwave and looked plastic.Overall, for an authentic Thai experience, it let me down. 4/10 for taste and presentation.I do not recommend this place

I was pleasantly surprised.  The food was fresh, authentic,  and very tasty. Friendly conscientious staff and a warm environment. There was confusion with my soup. I was given the spicy coconut mushroom soup rather than the non spicy.  Great taste though the room of my mouth wanted to melt away.  They remedied it and brought out the correct order with a fresh side of riceberries (a new favorite of mine) and all was well. My friend ordered the garlic spicy chicken and LOVED IT.  If we lived here,  we would come back.

Went there last Saturday and the food and service were both excellent.Been to Thailand very recently and the food was very authentic and the dishes we had reminded me of then. A tiny bit of a warning though, be ready for Thai spicy, not European spicy! 😁Really efficient service in a pleasant environment. Would definitely return. 👍👍

We were looking for a nice Thai Restaurant in London, and when searching came across Patara in SoHo. It was one we had no heard of and decided to give it a try. It was a booking we made on short notice and also being a special occasion I asked them if they would be able to do a small surprise for my fiancée. When we arrived, they were extremely welcoming, the decor was amazing and the service was something I have never experienced before. The manager himself was attending to us know it was a special occasion, and they even provided a small cake with no charge. The food was amazing and was seemingly fresh. You could easily have said this is possibly the best Thai Restaurant in London. I would highly recommend and give stars all the way!!!

We’ve been here several times over the past 4 years and the food and service are consistently great. Really, really delicious food, great quality and plenty of it. It’s so good you’ll want to eat until you cannot move. Lovely cocktails too! Of particular note are the king prawns, calamari, pad Thai and papaya salad! Oh and the Penang! And... honestly I could go on. The food is wonderful. Of all the Thai restaurants I’ve eaten at this is by far my favourite. We’ve been on a busy Saturday night and a quiet Wednesday and it doesn’t matter which day you go the food and service will be just as good.

Had a very nice dinner with friends here. The place has a very nice design and is dark to almost a bar level. Service was OK, nothing special, Id expect a bit more from a place at this pricing level. Same applies for the food - it was definitely better than the average Thai food restaurant, how ever it wasnt to up the level Id expect from the place with this design and pricing, hence the 4 stars and not 5.Bottom line: nice option for a good food in a nice venue which is a bit pricy.

Nice atmosphere at this Thai restaurant. No problem with getting seated early without a reservation. However, as the restaurant got busy, we were politely prompted to make space for a reservation ... which was fine as we had finished eating by that point. We opted for a light bite and so ordered the starter platter with drinks. The platter was very good but maybe a little pricy at about £27.50.

Four of us came here for New Years Eve dinner before heading out for the countdown, and I absolutely loved it.Ive been to Thailand before and always said that the food I had there was the nicest Ive ever had, even to this day.The food here in Patara was exactly like eating in Thailand, it was so authentic and tasty.I would have preferred a table further inside the restaurant as the table we got was a close to the front door and felt like we werent actually in the restaurant. The food and drinks were very tasty and both were generous portions. Service was great and friendly, although slightly slow, but we werent in a rush and this probably came back to where the table was, leading us to be a bit forgotten.Overall I loved the meal here, the atmosphere was great, food was delicious and staff friendly, my only complaint would be that it was quite expensive and Id expect a better table with faster service for the price paid.

Booked for a pre-theatre meal. The decor is delightful and really sets the mood for your meal. They are clear about a 2 hour table on their website. The staff are helpful and professional. Made appropriate menu suggestions and left you to decide but were on hand if needed. We ordered a shared starter and they confirmed that price was per person which I thought was a good thing to do, saves misundestandings later. The food was ample good size portions and very well flavoured. Good value for money. The only reason I knocked down a star is that they were rushing us a bit close to the 2 hours which really wasnt need as we were not planning yo stay later anyway and they had empty tables still. Apart from that loved the place

Restaurant is exceptional. The smell of lemon grass aroma used in the restaurant soothes the atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful when you need help with the menu. However, it is compulsory that you book your table before you visit the restaurant (although they have free tables at times).Food was well prepared. I got the set menu to share with my wife and it was worth the money but quite pricey. The portion is small for two people, but it is still filling. It include a variety of different food so you dont get to miss out on fish, chicken, prawn or beef. Please be aware that they only have two options on the set menu - one is vegetarian and the other non vegetarian.Ps. The picture I have is of the starter only and you ought to share this! Its £40pp. So youll end up paying £80 when the bill arrives.Enjoy your time at Patara!

Review №73

I had fond memories of Patara and suggested to my BF we go there, about 10 years since my last visit. Big mistake. Yes, the food is lovely. However, our whole meal (crackers, starters and mains) got delivered in such a quick succession (the starters arriving literally 3 minutes after the crackers and cocktails) that we had no time to enjoy and digest them, let alone order wine. I had to send back my main as it had not been microwaved enough and was barely lukewarm. If things are microwaved, you then wonder when exactly they were prepared. The service was quite impersonal too (no wonder given how quickly we were expedited out of there). Considering that the average starter is £10 and mains start around £19, personally I would go elsewhere than a fancy place serving you at McDonalds speed.3 stars lost on that basis. And in no hurry to go back!

Average Stuff. I visited with 2 friends on 17/2/2018 for dinner after someone recommended it to us.The good: the place has a good ambience, smells good. Service friendly.Thats pretty much about it.About Food: All of us, found it quite mediocre, especially for the prices they charge.2 of us had their signature rum cocktail (10£ a piece) and was like a sugar syrup. One of the things, I find bit funny is, with the lime-scallop starter - the menu says, it costs about ~5£ (but one piece of scallop only) and its mandatory to get 2 pieces : so why not just write 10£ for it and say it has 2 pieces. If I remember right, its the only item with such description. Its different that some items where minimum 2 persons are required. The starters were the purple duck and papaya salad (again ~10£ each) leaved much to be desired for. My friends found the duck dumplings bit bland. The main course was decent but my curry was sweetish; youd expect for a Thai Fusion place to give you great flavors when doling out good buck.Im surprised with such high ratings. As we exited the restaurant, the unanimous feeling ( and response ) when I asked if wed be back, was sadly No.As some other reviewers have said, up the food quality/ chef or lower the prices.

Great to find a restaurant in central London where conversation is possible - too many restaurants sound like bars these days. Staff are friendly and attentive. However, you pay for this ambience twice over - firstly, the food is pretty bland and Westernised, even by London standards. Secondly, the dishes are considerably more expensive than other Thai restaurants in the area. For the atmosphere Id be willing to put up with one or the other of these, but not both. Recommended if youre trying to impress someone who doesnt know Thai food.

Impeccable service and atmosphere, but unfortunately mediocre food at best. Wouldnt mind if it cost half the price, but for how pricey it is I would expect excellent food. Starter dumplings tasted like they came out of a frozen packet, stir fry duck with Thai basil was cold and lacked any flavour or spice. Fish was good but also could do with more flavour- Thai food is usually bursting with flavour, herbs and spices! Lovely place with potential but I think you need to either upgrade your chefs or downgrade your prices!

An absolutely amazing place. The decor is stunning and the food is absolutely on point for Thai food. The vegetarian green curry was aromatic, fresh and balanced that it too me all the way back to being in Thailand. The only issue (reason it lost 1 star) was the gluten free menu. There was nothing vegetarian on it and we had to speak with the manager to have something made to cater for my wife. The chef was very cautious about particular ingredients such as the coconut milk that he felt might be contaminated so he didnt want to make anything with it for her. Appreciate their caution of what they do and make which is amazing to see in restaurants.
