Cannot give it a valid rating as the place was closed! Had travelled from a far distance to try this restaurant, but Google and their own website has no information about them being closed. Please do not go here for the next three months. Unless you like wasting money on travelling. Please update your store information and let your customers know that you are currently closed until at least next month or so.

Lovely experience, stellar service from Sushmitha and Abhimat. Only downside was that I went expecting south Indian biryani, but was served north Indian. Everything else was splendid.

This is the best Indian restaurant in the area. The menu has some specials you would not get many other places and the service is polite and attentive. The prices are certainly not high when compared to other central London Indian cuisine restaurants. The atmosphere is really nice, not too loud or quiet and the decor and the glass ceiling in the middle really add to it. Highly recommended!

This is the best South Indian food you will get in central London. It is so great we have become regulars. If you are ever in the Tottenham Court Road area you absolutely must visit. The naans are so delicious and the staff is so kind and attentive. Definitely a little gem in the city!

We visited this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. How lucky we were! The food was only magnificent. As it was early December there was a large group in for their Christmas night out but despite the noise the food excelled. We had a prawn starter, a lamb curry dish and an okra dish with naan bread that we were sorry to see eventually come to a finish. I would definitely visit again when I’m back in London.

South Indian style. Many familiar dishes, but others less so, especially the veggie side. Good room & friendly service. Portions fairly small but fine for me. Only disappointment was the green banana curry, which was tough & starchy. Price really not bad for Central London, at about £25 a head with modest drink.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Its just 5 minutes walk from the British Museum and the heart of Bloomsbury. The food is excellent and the prices are extremely reasonable. Ive been eating regularly at this restaurant for nearly 20 years, and I have yet to have a bad meal or an unpleasant experience. The main restaurant is a delightful conservatory-style room behind the main building, large and airy, and quite unexpected in the heart of the West End.The cuisine is Kerala (emphasis on the first syllable) which means South Indian, not too fierce, and with a higher proportion of fish dishes than youll find in a high street curry house. The staff are unfailingly polite and welcoming, the background music is unobtrusive, and the basic stuff like cutlery and table linen is high quality.I used to think it a little pricey, but over the years the other eateries nearby have let their prices rocket while Malabar has not - its now a very sensible choice by comparison with other local offerings.

A couple of recommendations ... firstly, dont go on a Friday evening when your senses may be assaulted by a table of noisy regulars, whose company included a number of very loud American women, and I mean very loud. I asked the management to ask them to tone it down; well, Sir, they are regulars. Secondly, just dont go - the food is hot rather than flavoursome, and didnt begin to compare with excellent Keralan fish curries I had in India. All in all, disappointing, and I wont be going back. In fairness, the food was not awful; it just wasnt that tasty.

The closing timings given here is 11.15 pm. I went yesterday at 10.20 pm and they said the restaurant is closed. With the last night experience today we made it in the afternoon with our group at lunch time. Fortunately we reached before they closed in the afternoon at 2.30 pm. And I was happy that we came here. Excellent food and service. We ordered Kerala fish curry which was just right and tasty. We had chicken chilly and Fried pomphrete which was delicious. We ordered Malabari paratha which was crisp and went well with the main dishes. We washed it down with Kingfisher beer which brought the home nostalgia. Overall a great experience. We liked the attrium and feeling of well lit and spacious restaurant. We will come here again for sure. Rita and her team was superb. Good service.Rita also said sorry for last night. All is well which ends well.

Note that This is the review for basement area at Malabar. Although the ground floor looked fine. We had made a booking for team dinner with buffet and this was organised by staff in the basement area. Little did we know that as compared to the beautiful ambience of normal floor, basement would be a small room with dull wall colours and lack of light. The seating was also restricted.Online reason for giving 2 stars is because of service and food. Both were ok. We had a buffet service with starters and main course (both veg & non veg).
