Recently had a lovely meal at Kanishka, the whole experience was delightful. My partner and I opted for the tasting menu and boy did it deliver. Nothing on the menu was overly hot but it was beautifully spiced and just the right amount of heat where needed. Each course seemed to flow nicely and we were definitely not left wanting by the time wed eaten. Easily one of the best Indian meals Ive had. Wont hesitate to return.

I recently had siblings dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Service was on point, food was so flavourful and elegant and the drinks were fabulous.I found the starters to have a slightly spicier taste than the main but flavours were not compromisedI would highly recommend the samosa chaat an pea and potato tikka for starters.Ive not had such super soft paneer that melts in the mouth in the butter paneer.I love Dahl but was not too keen on the house dahl. I found it to be tasty but have very few beans and was more gravy. We finished off with pistachio Kulfi and rabri which was I lovely way to end the meal.Once again amazing team and staff

We had the tasting menu here last night with a delightful cocktail / mocktail each. Service was exceptional and food was beautifully presented. Full credit for having a separate vegetarian and vegan menu, labelling things that contain dairy and cater for non drinkers. The starter was too spicy for me, but probably was because it was vegan and didn’t have the yoghurt to balance out. Would defo come back to try the other seedlip mocktails though!

A really great restaurant in London! The place is beautiful inside and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was incredibly tasty, flavorful and good portion size. For starters we had the king edward potato cake and the chicken tikka pie. The pie is absolutely amazing and like nothing I’ve ever tasted. For mains we had the signature black dhaal, dad’s butter chicken, aloo baigan and lamb. The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked but the butter was by far the winner of the night. Honestly the best butter chicken I’ve tasted in my life! We ended the meal with the peanut butter chikki parfait which also didn’t disappoint. The restaurant is also continuing to offer discount on certain days for the eat out to help out scheme for the duration of September. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for amazing indian food with quality service.

Fantastic food. I started with the baked mackerel, then for my main had a beautiful piece of halibut. We shared a key lime and chocolate dessert, both so good we were torn as to which was the better. Without sounding like a bit of a plonker, my wife and I do like to visit top end restaurants, often Michelin graded, in cities around the world. This one, in my birth city offers an experience like weve never before had. From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted, to the overall ambience and service, youll be enjoying an experience like no other. The food itself...wow! We are vegetarian and so had the veggie tasting menu and it was HUGE! But ever so perfectly spiced. It was as if the chef was playing pyschological mind games with us by rolling out course after course of stunningly flavoured Indian cuisine, all slightly different from the last.Dont confuse this with the typical poppadoms and pickle type Indian restaurant because there wasnt one in sight (thankfully). This restaurant is indian in its taste origins but continental in terms of its style and overall offering.A great crowd too under one roof on a busy Monday night representing just about every ethnicity, age and gender. Absolutely first class experience. The best restaurant weve ever eaten in by a mile.

Must say after yesterdays experience with family and friends was bitterly disappointed. The food was just above average and for the prices you would have expected more. The food was great & so was the service. We had the set 3 course lunch menu. We thought this represented good value compared to the a la carte menu, although sides are definitely needed for the mains to make this into a complete meal.Unfortunately we didnt feel that the restaurant was covid-secure.The tables were definitely too close to each other - we were sitting less than 1m from other guests. We also felt disappointed that guests were not wearing face coverings when moving about the restaurants and we never saw the staff challenge this. For this reason alone we wouldnt return in the short term.

Food for kids and kids menu was surprisingly good as my kids are fussy. Cheese naan and chicken grilled they enjoyed.Mains for us however were bang average at super inflated prices. Meats that were not flavoursome in a sauce that was trying to be flavoursome.Really disappointed as drove into London for Father’s Day. Would definitely not return. Shame food aside our waiter was lovely very helpful professional and friendly. Decor was pretty bad ceiling was covered by a temporary cloth that was help together in many places by paper clips.Shame as the reviews helped me choose this place. We came to the restaurant for the special time out offer £30 for share courses. With spiced cocktail. I would say even the offer was little over priced. Should have been around £20 each mark not £30 for the Indian cuisine. It wasn’t overly busy at all which was nice.. the decor is stunning and well kept. Loved the green jungle ceiling. On arrival until we got out first dish it took them an hour and abit, which is extremely long, they kept feeding us with popadoms. For that reason the service charge was removed. But the food was absolutely sexy and tasted amazing!! You will leave feeling full and satisfied with what you have just eaten. A big disappointment! Celebrity chef.... really?Went to this restaurant for lunch a couple of weeks ago and ordered the sharing menu. The food was shockingly bad (probably one of the worst Indian food I have had in London), with lukewarm service. One of the starters (stir fry tofu) was so hot that most of us had to leave it after a single bite. The vegetable in the main course was the oddest and the most tasteless dish I have ever had. The only saving grace was perhaps the cocktail.I wouldnt recommend this restaurant at all!

Nice look and feel to the restaurant. The food came quickly and courses were well spaced out. The food was tasty and generous and didn’t disappoint. However I felt the attention to detail with the service was missing for a fine dining restaurant. As the restaurant got busier throughout the evening our waiter seemed to be over stretched. The food was fabulous and well presented throughout all 3 courses. However, I was slightly disappointed to be shown to my seat which was covered in the crumbs that I had to ask to be brushed away. It was also a shame to be handed the menu and informed the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. It was also disappointing to ask for dessert menus and find the content was missing from one of them - so didn’t feel very welcomed at all! Such a shame for a restaurant that markets itself as fine dining - food is great but I’ve had better service and sat on cleaner seats and received complete menus when I’ve dined in TGIs.

Overall our experience didnt meet reasonable expectations. Our table was 15 mins late. We ordered the tasting menu for two. 55 minutes after arriving wed only been served an amuse-bouche and had to raise this with the waiter. The food was mixed, the monkfish was superb, the goat curry was average and too salty. The waiting staff were polite but came across as harried and rushed, at one point knocking over a glass of wine (promptly replaced to be fair). At this price bracket sevice should be calm and relaxed and food absolutely on point - neither was the case for us tonight unfortunately.

A mixed bag..I booked a table about 4 weeks in advance of my partners Birthday, the 4 of us were really looking forward to dining here.We were seated at the front of the restaurant at what looked to be a table for 2 but no harm, I understand that after lockdown they were trying to get as many heads in as possible. The food was VERY good, we shared a bunch of starters and ordered 2 Butter Chickens and 2 Goat Currys (highly recommend) along with 4 sides at the suggestion of the waitress. The amount of food was probably too much (and I have a big appetite), Id recommend ordering less sides.Unfortunately we did feel rushed throughout the meal, lots of prompting for orders etc but fine. Then just after our mains we were told our table had to be cleared for another group (1 hour 50mins). They moved us to the bar area to eat dessert which to be honest I appreciated but at the same time I didnt want to eat dinner at a bar (in a row) where they make drinks and where waiters are constantly walking past. I was also sat under the coldest air conditioning unit so had to wear my coat.We eventually moved (by ourselves) to a nook around the other side of the bar and ordered a nightcap. They brought a complementary dessert for my partner for her Birthday which was a nice touch and then we all ordered a perfectly made Old Fashioned to end the night. The bill came to £450 for 4 people which at that price I would expect to have a table for at least 2 - 2 and a half hours - enough to finish our meal (we werent being slow either). I also saw many other tables not being moved and being seated for well over 3 hours - all left a sour taste in my mouth.I probably wouldnt come back, even though the food was so good.

This is not anything like other high end restaurants such as Benares, Kahani etc. This place is more upmarket casual dining. Portions were abit on the small side. And overall taste wasnt really there. Some of the food was nice. The samosa chaat and the pie but if Im paying £19 for a pie I expect a bigger size. Service was ok the guys were nice and attentive. The place looks nice. The toilets are in an awkward place right near the kitchen so abut tricky to navigate past all the servers. Even with the eat out to help out the bill I felt was quiet high for 4 people and not forgetting the discretionary service charge which AGAIN the server didnt ask if we would like to pay with or without. This is one of Atul Kochhar’s latest restaurants and focuses on the North East States of India which include - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The North East region offers a mixed culture of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism which clearly reflects in the cuisine. We were lucky to go on an evening to see both Atul Kochhar and Tina English at the restaurant along with the head chef Shishir Sinha. A great team and the most down to earth hard working people in the Industry I know.Maddox street seems to becoming the home of indian food with a few other establishments on the same road.THE MOOD: You get a nice feel when you walk in and pleasantly greeted and shown to your table, the restaurant has a great bar with comfortable bar stools where you can also pass your evening having a few drinks and snacks. At first sight it seem like a smaller venue, there is a large lower ground floor with a completely different feel which is set up for private hire and soon to be a private dining area I am informed. There is also a nice little terrace area outside so worth a visit during the summer months (although I think we have missed out this time around).THE VERDICT: I am very impressed by the menu selection and options, I really look forward to coming again and I noted the Diwali special set menu was only £35.00 per head so I would recommend keeping an eye on the events and what’s being offered as I think its a great idea to have events and experience days being offered. It was really a pleasure and cant wait to visit again and again. The only criticism is please add some more sweet and other mock-tails. There are so many items on the menus both a mix from traditional to some unique options that I left wanting more and more. So I have no choice but to return and give you a review on some of the other dishes on offer. Do visit for a memorable evening you will walk away extremely happy. You have to try the Atul’s Chicken Tikka Pie, Dad’s Murg Makhani, Kanishka Signature Black Dal and Sagolir Manxo (Goat Curry). Although I did not try Gangtok Momos I did see someone else order this so I will look to try these next time also.

My family came here for my mums 60th birthday to this popular restaurant. The restaurant is really quite stunning and we were sat in a nice quiet table by the window upstairs.Food wise we wanted to try a bit of everything (most of us are vegetarian and they had A LOT of options)We ordered the Kathal Shapta, Gangtok Momo, Classic samosa chaat and Kolkata puchkas for starters. All were absolutely delicious! My favourites were the monos especially the sauces which were very authentic (I have a Nepalese friend who makes it and it tasted exactly the same) and the samosa chaat.Onto mains we ordered the masala mixed grill, dads paneer maknee, and a kadhi dish which I cant find on the menu online but it is there in the restaurant.I loved the masala mixed grill and kadhi dish was so unique with the kale. The dishes may have looked small but they certainly were filling. The only dish I wasnt fond of was the maknee. It was very sweet and were just used to having paneer spicy. But otherwise it was lovely. As it was my mums birthday they brought out a little dessert with a candle etc for my mum which was so nice of the team.Overall had a lovely time here!
