Great filter coffee, dosas ( we had egg dosa and onion rava masala dosa) and uttapam.Idli was not as fluffy and soft as I was expecting. I found their currys especially the vegetable sambhar and rasam very spicy with too much pepper. The chutneys accompanying the dosas and idli were good. Service was prompt and polite. Ambience is very functional.There are better south Indian restaurants around

Makers of the famous 5ft long family dosa. Food is good. Price is decent. A little short on the soft drink side. The only one in the vicinity that does South Indian chicken and lamb cuisine.

Its not the best, but you do get some authentic South Indian dishes here. Theyll need to manage thier menu better. They had about 100 items in the menu, but only about 25 available when we visited.

As the name says the restaurant provides really good South Indian dosa. Masala dosa is really good. Although the quantity of masala mix is a bit less in my opinion and is charged extra for additional masala.Payment is cash only and staffs are friendly. Good place to go for South Indian snacks.

The food that was clearly on the menu, wasnt on the menu-_- . Why WAS IT THERE ON THE FIRST PLACE. The drinks my kid wanted wasnt available and they were left crying. The waiter was also impatient and ruined the experience.Now about the food:The dosas were a hassle to place onto the table. Kept breaking and lots of food touched the table but the employees just shoved it back onto the plates. There was no tea which stressed my colleagues out a lot. No mutton either which made my son quite upset as he’s quite a picky eater. In term of taste, the dosa was edible but it the edges was very tough to eat and made my son choke. To top off the meal we decided to get desserts but surprise THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING. There was also this strange thing that was squashing there food and spitting water, quite an eyesore. We then asked for beeda and they also didn’t have that:/. Ended up ordering vanilla ice cream for the young ones. They seemed to enjoy it but it took extremely long to come. I don’t understand why it takes so long to add two tiny portions into a drinking cup which also isn’t kid friendly.

Ate here yesterday.So pleased they have reopened in Leicester.Dishes were so good and authentic. Quality of food was superb.Sambar vadai, chicken vuraval, gobi 65 and chicken kottu parotta were all excellent.I highly recommend this establishment.

Went to eat with my family today Ordered thalis but that was pathetic with only a small waatis of what appeared like some liquids (chutney like in all of them. No lentils in any waati. Also vegetable wati had only cabbage in miniscule quantity.Service also very poor and sluggish. No spoons were given to us while being served any of the food, And when we wanted some remaining food packed the waitress took the spoon used by us to transfer the food from the utensil to the container.Quality of food also not at all satisfactoryTotal waste of money

I tried this restaurant for the first time, I didnt have high expectations but was willing to give them a go as I was after some Tamil food and this type of food is hard to find. I was completely surprised when I came to the restaurant, it was nice and modern and very very clean. I promptly made my order as I knew what I wanted: the chicken stir fry and mutton kottu parotta. The lady at the desk was very accommodating and friendly. 10 Minutes later my food was ready to go. Beware though, they only take cash. Other than this the food was ready to go home, the food was very aromatic and completely made my car smell of great food - I couldnt wait to get home.The food was very nicely packed, it came in a container that can be reused and came with extra curry sauce and raita which was a nice addition to see. The food was very hot so when I came home, reheating was unnecessary. The portion size was perfect, not too much and not too little, just enough to fill you up completely - it was brilliant. The food was very tasty, it had accompanying smells, the right level of spice and the right balance between spice and flavour. It was just yummy 😋.I would 100% recommend going there and giving them a go, and Im looking forward to returning to see what else they have to offer - theyve just found another returning and satisfied customer! 😃

Excellent food yummy food

I have tried a lot of Asian restaurants in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and of course Leicester. This place is up there. The food is always spot on. The buffet, although has only a couple of dishes, its on the money. And for £8 person the food is absolutely brilliant. Give it a shot you wont regret it.

Food is NOT nice at all. Staff is very rude but more importantly the manager (i think the owner) has no manners on how to talk to customers. Their main aim is to rob the customers by billing them for more price.

Visited this halal restaurant on 6th Feb 2019 in a group of four. Was pleased to see the revamped premises since I saw it last about a year ago when it was run by another owner under a different name. Food was tasty and the place was clean, except for some untidy cleaning equipment in front of the toilet door. The staff were helpful. I went on a Wednesday when a buffet was available at £7.99 per person. A can of soft drink cost an additional £1.50 each bumping the price of a meal to £9. 49. Self service serving pots had detachable covers and I found it difficult to serve myself because one hand was required to hold the cover and I had to use the remaining hand to hold the serving spoon. So my plate needed to be put at the right spot before opening the lid cover. There was only one choice for dessert and it had gone cold even before I could serve myself. Some of the food was hot but about half the numbers were only tepid warm. I would give 3.5 stars and with some improvements I could give it 4 stars. I might visit it again and hopefully give a revised feedback.

This restaurant gets one star because we booked it for New Years Eve and they call us a week later telling us that they wont be open. Poor customer service.

The best place i have been so far, The food is awesome as there many wide range of different chicken dishes that I have had and there all tasted on point . The place is always crowded and a small place and i think they should expand is a great place and more people should be able to be in this place.The Mango lassi was great but a slight difference is like mango kesar but it was alright. The place is clean and i like this place and i wish i can be in this place more often but its a busy place.

Not the best experience. Went just 2 people they gave us a seat sit there for 15min then ask some 1 if they can take our order so he ask i told the order 20more. Min got the drink then more 20min got the food. But to be honest didnt enjoy the meal wont go just 2 people as they give best experience if you are a group.

This was mine and my familys first time at Ganis Tawa. We moved from Birmingham to Leicester twelve years ago and one thing we had found is that for Indian restaurants, Leicester was lagging far behind Brum.In the time weve lived here, I have to say this is the nicest food weve had in Leicester. We have three kids and theyre quite fussy eaters but they all really enjoyed the food (we had a mixture of Indian and Chinese).On top of all that, prices were very reasonable, furniture and decor was nice and contemporary and the service couldnt be faulted.I dont normally write restaurant reviews but the experience was so good that I felt I should give credit where its due- its up there with anything youll find in my former hometown.Well definitely be back again.
