I am a regular here. Its nice, small space with tastefully done interiors, tucked inside an old Bengali house. They serve good finger food, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The ambience is good, staff is very polite and prices are easy on pocket and it usually isnt overcrowded which means one can comfortably spend an hour or so reading the Bengali books from the in-house library, enjoying the food or simply chatting with friends.
Nice ambience with soothing light and music (rabindra sangeet) going on. Cosy place to spend time. Was a great feeling to learn that legendary singer Debabrata Biswas used to reside there. But small request...you should improve the portion of food ..chicken sandwich with cheese was too small in pieces.Anyway, great experience.
Its a nice cosy place but they expect you to keep ordering if youre planning to sit there for a long time.
This is a hidden gemThe fish fry ,fish fingers are awesome. This place is amazing not only for the food but also for the wonderful songs of Late Sh. Debabrata Biswas. One might get lost in the music and the cuisine like ways.Fantastic experience
Very nice ambience. Employees are well mannered. Moreoverly this place has its own significance. Tagores songs will definitely mesmerised everyone. A must visit café.
A small coffee shop with distinctive Bengali cultural feel. There are books, handicrafts and contemporary Bengali music playing inside the cafe.We ordered a pot of Darjeeling tea which was good. The pasta ordered later was absolute disaster as the chef had no idea how real white sauce pasta tastes.Prices are reasonable. Go there if you want to spend some quiet time or chat up with your buddies. The place itself is a bit hard to find as entrance is at the back of the building accessed through a narrow passageway.
Nice place. Good food... Perfect place for hangout... Pocket friendly price
Cosy place to enjoy after work or just catch up with friends. Leave the stress and rush behind ...in this cafe time moves slowly...savor every moment
Very nice place. Good food and coffee. Cozy ambience. Liked it.
Nice place to sit and sip. A cozy environment with good hospitality of the staffs. The place was formerly house of famous Rabindra Sangeet singer Debabrata Biswas.
Really cosy. Has a homely feel. The staff was really courteous.
First and foremost, one of the most pocket friendly cafes around triangular park. This cafe has the most home like atmosphere and charm. We had the Chicken pasta in white sauce, which was not exactly seasoned well. The sauce was runny instead of creamy, the chicken could have been better prepared, because it tasted long overcooked, hence dry. The blue lagoon and lemon ice tea was fine, we just had to make sure twice about the diluting and sugar amount adjustment. Otherwise the staff there is quite friendly and approachable. They have a section reserved for small exhibitions and intimate performances. We noticed older posters hung on their walls of formerly conducted events of the same.
Mud special sandwich is a must have. The ghugni and coffee are decent. Its a rare joint only playing the legend Debabrata Biswas songs, making it a favourite among the slightly elderly as well
Its a great place for adda and quick bites.
I love the simplicity of the place. A perfect place to catch up with old friends with a plate of mangsher ghugni on the table and melodious voice of Debabrata Biswas playing in the background.
Food was good. The staff was polite.
My favourite joint...stuffs are very well mannered....simple food but very delicious....awesome ambience...
Homely cafe with great food. Mutton ghugni and fish fingers are the best.
The food was good. But little high rates.
My mother loves the music played here as its the former residence of George Biswas. The owners have retained that authenticity and the decor is tastefully done. The first floor is quite a climb hence senior citizens preferred seating should be on the ground floor itself. The coffee is good ....and fish fingers are impressive, however the latters thinning in diameter is a cause of concern
Go there for Bhetki fish finger and Darjeeling Second Flush tea from Tea with Susmita.
The best thing is awesome taste of the foods. The decorations and light note Rabindra sangeet are obviously the second & third things which caught attention. And finally the pocket friendly prices are making this Cafe as a must visit again place.Last but not the least the stuffs are well behaved and soft spoken.
Nice place for casual or official meeting.
Place is quite good...taste of food is good
Nestled near the sprawling shopping centre of Gariahat, it is the perfect place to take a break from all the shopping. Or just to hangout with friends. Since it is not in the spotlight, mostly one can get the entire place to oneself. Also this place has been remodeled from the legendary Debabrata Biswass residence into a café. However it has not failed to retain its charm. The right bengali culture has been beautifully represented through the décor, the ambience and even the background music. Another plus is they use biodegradable utensils.Friendly staff, prompt service and good food- without burning a hole in ones pocket.Would definitely go back and recommend.
Authentic, nostalgic ambiance
This is Debabrata Biswas’s house turned to a cafe.I was introduced to it by a friend who stays in Hindusthan Park. From then on it’s my favourite place for a quick bite.I visit often with friends and my mother. We love the laid back ambience and the peaceful aura.Don’t forget to try the Irish Coffee,Mutton Ghugni Fish Roll,Fish and Chips,Mud Special Sandwiches,Pineapple blossom Mud Pastry Tutti Frutti! You can spend hours listening to D.B songs in background and there are books also. This place has an old world charm to it.This is just next to Manyavaar Store in Triangular Park.
Good food, hygienic place, great ambience but very slow service. We actually could not order the second item due to the slow service.
The place is small and beautiful, it has a sitting area of 15 approx closely placed. The entire place is decorated by hand weaven mats. The food tastes was very ordinary and presentation was normal. If you wanna spend time and have food its good. But if you want a creative place to click pictures then i will not recommend this.location is very easy to reach is just on the main road between gariahat to Kalighat
A nice place with a cosy ambience for the quintessential Bengali adda. The Cafe under Debabrata Biswas house has been rightly revamped with ethnic cane furniture, terracotta decor,Tagore poem scribblings in artistic frames complete with Rabindrasangeet in his voice being played in the background. As a bonus they also sell quirky ethnic earrings, necklace and some Bengali novels.Overall a sublime place for introverts.
Whatever u ask for in menu card they are not bale to provide..Tht was my last visit ,I will never visit again
Great ambiance themed with pottery and the life of Debabrata Biswas, the doyen of Rabindra Sangeet, who used to stay in this house
Lovely place to give adda.
Excellent food and the Irish coffee is very good.
This was the house 9f debabrat biswas..a famous rabindra sangeet singer
This was my first time in this cafe .place :- It is situated right beside Manyavar and moheys showroom.food:- the food was average and the tea was very refreshing. i was sad when i saw the salad they served was in a plate which made it hard to have it (it would have been better if it was in a bowl instead of a plate.)price:- It is indeed reasonable in priceI took a pot of darjiling tea and a greek salad with chicken with 5% gst it total costed me to ₹ 283.service :- service is average and the behaviour of the manegment was good and they were helpful but only they took too much time in serving the food. i was actually disappointed on that because my dish was not such a huge dish to make and they at that point of time did not have much customer as it was afternoon.atmosphere:- thats a twisr for people who want to come here as its an artistic or aesthetic you may call kind of place and basically Rabindra Sangeet is plated all the time .All in all its a bit more than average but a bit less than 5 stars.
Nice and good food. Must pay a visit. Reach early as lately best foods wont be available.
For me, it is a 5 star because of its ambience, food quality, professional staffs and most importantly the legacy of legendary Mr. Debabrata Biswas home. But it is a 4 star for the people who are looking for pubs or dinnings where alcohol is served, and where dance music is played. They will not get these things here but the food quality is really great.Been there many times. I just love the place. Perfect place for family gatherings.
Ambience is filled with Rabindra Sangeet, the food is good & staff is very helpful
Good place to be. Good food and a relaxed atmosphere with Tagore at the background
Nice place to gossip and enjoy tea and snacks, the ambience is absolutely enchanting and this place has its own historical legacy with soothing background music.
Wonderful place with Debabrata biswas songs in the background
Cosy place but very small selection of the menu available.Quite pricey for what it offers.
Food is average..Should recruit more staffs.
For me it was first visit with Irish coffee and it was excellent, ambience was nice and with low music makes me on 😀
MUD, this is a cafe made inside the building right near triangular park.I visited this place just to try out their specialityThe MUD Cake.It was a hot mud cake that is so soft and delicious that it totally melts in your mouthLipsmacking is the word to describe it... filled with molten hot chocolate, they serve the best MUD Cake.DO VISIT AND TRY ITThe Ambience is totally calm and compose and Pol also go there to take different tea served by them with MUD Sandwiches. The MUD Cake isPRICED @ Rs. 90+ taxes
Food is good, but couldn’t understand why they don’t serve coffee in similar cups/mugs.
Not at par with the pricing. Small space but talk one and it has a nice ambience.
Nice cosy place
A nice place for sit and chat...but you need to compromise on food.. neither the taste nor the quality is lup to the mark..
Good and decent experience, they have reduced the seating space post covid.
Great ambience! Nice food
THIS PLACE WAS THE RESIDENCE OF LEGENDARY RABINDRA SANGEET ARTIST DEBABRATA(GEORGE) BISWAS. THIS COFFEE SHOP IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS. THERE ARE LOT OF BOOKS, HANDICRAFTS WITH NON-STOP MUSIC OF DEBABRATA BISWAS. BUT FEW FOOD ITEMS ARE LITTLE BIT OVERPRICED. ANYWAY THIS PLACE WILL ATTRACT ANY CULTURED PEOPLE.
Atmosphere is awesome.... Good for those who love nostalgic adda with tasty food...
Nice ambience ...food as well... anesthetics are superb
Nice place to hangout nice ambience. Touch of old school bengali music in the background. Two storied. Good food. Washroom available. Cash and card both accepted. Food is reasonably priced but some dishes are bit overpriced. One should check what one is getting in a dish before ordering. Hospitality excellent.
Good place to evening snacks and get together.
Good one..need coffee improvement
Ethnic and cutely styled. A different experience altogether in terms of ambience. Not for big team hangout. Reasonable on the. purse strings.
Id been going here for the last 3 years but have stopped recently. The prices have sky rocketed as it gained popularity and snacks for 2 would put one back by 700₹ if you eat as well. The ambience is great and the staff is lovely.
Have visited just once and liked the fish fingers. Space feels a bit cramped (upstairs and downstairs), but nice and take your time to order kind of service. Good place to sit for a while and talk.
Very bad place. The food quantity is very less and the behaviour of the people is very poor
We enjoyed the evening very much.
One of my favorite cafe. But price little high.
Food is solid. Tea is very good. Best part is that the cafe staff leave you alone. They dont hover asking if youd like something else. However, there is a strange musty smell downstairs which comes from I dont know what. Think the place, particularly the kitchen, is not aired much. The bathroom was decent but could be cleaner. What I mean is that there was hair in the drain, which is annoying to see. Can be cleaned out easily with toilet roll or using gloves.
Very nice homely feeling.
The ambience here is great. Quality and quantity of the food is great as well. It can be an awesome hangout place.
Its a nice place. Quality of food is good! Ambience is perfect for meet ups and services is quite fast. Love the place, would visit again. Thank you for your warm service.
The place gives off a very chic and cozy vibe but the food is nothing special for the prices they charge. Good for small groups of people (2-3)
You wont feel the peace & your presence within all at once. Get along with the ambience and the language, this place tries to convey to you. A serenity filled aura would surround you with the decor, lights, music & the coffee!
The ambiance is quite different from other restaurants. I like taking tea here which is of good quality.
Good place good food
I had visited Mud cafe quite a number of times. One of the reasons behind revisiting the place is definitely because this place plays the songs of the legendary Debabrato Biswas. The quality of the food is pretty good and pocket friendly. But definitely the menu is limited. The staffs are polite and cordial. A must visit for the George Biswas admirers. Their sandwiches, fish fingers, fish and chips are good.
Nice and cozy place with good food, amazing staff. Best place to hangout with friends and family.
