Food quality and variety needs a huge improvement if we compare the price and quality of other restaurants nearby. The price is very steep, food quality is average. The menu lacks variety. The ambience is the only positive part.
Very Average experience. Service and Food was not at par plus the plates served were smelling bad. Only saving grace was the ambience. Expected much better 🙁
Staff behaviour was good . Food was also good, little spicy for me but it was ok .Raita was best . Restaurent is really clean and well maintained.
We went for family dinner, and I feel that the good was not upto mark...we ordered for dahi kabab, but it was not dahi kabab..it was seekh kabab...!!!
The food was below average. The mutton bhuna was not what it should be..so salty that it was not edible...Paratha was hard....kulfi did not have faluda...total waste of the very high price that they charge.
Yesterday I went for dinner with family.kababs were very nice but main course was very average.we didnt like
Located at No. 26, Jawaharlal Nehru Rd, Near Indian Museum, Fire Brigade Head Quarter, New Market Area, Dharmatala, Taltala, Kolkata, West Bengal 700016, Zaranj was one of the most coveted destinations for North Western Frontier Cuisine. It continues to do regular business on signature platters of paneer tikka and machhli chaman. Try the Zaranji raan (rum-spiked whole roasted leg) and machhli Begum Bahar (bekti cooked in a tomato gravy flavoured with carom seeds), Hyderabadi gosht biryani and the sesame-studded murgh til tikka. This is not the place for the pocket conscious; prices are steep in comparison to most standalone restaurants in the city.
Ambiance is good. Staff are good. But main problem is quantity it us very less than normal resturants provides. Price is very high in comparison to the quantity. Quality is good but if you not get enough quantity of food what will you do with quality. Location is near Indian Museum. Ambiance was also Very nice
#SUBHOSAPTAMI peeps..Our pujo is incomplete without pet pujo.. What better than feasting on a pujo special #Doshobhuja menu which is going on at this iconic restaurant in town..#NarkelDiyeCholarDal was the best ever that I had till date.. Also, the #BhetkiPulao (Kolkata bhetki) was super yummy.. Please browse through the pictures below to know more about the remaining delicacies on offer..If you are planning for a grand Bengali feast - this is the place to be without a doubt this pujo.. Drop in today and feel free to thank me later😅.Journey of an Epicurean Cine Trotter (Facebook/Blog) continues..My journey can also be tracked on INSTAGRAM via @epicureancinetrotterBy the way, have you joined Kolkata Food Trotters on FACEBOOK yet??
Well, its not the first time in Zaranj. This place is a bit expensive. Indian and Chinese both the cuisines are available here. We have chosen Indian. We tried:🔸Almond Drink🔸Chicken Meethi Malai Kabab🔸Jheenga Malai Tikka(Prawn Malai Tikka)🔸Gosht Rogan Josh🔸Mutton BiryaniThe only thing I would say food quality has became worse than last time. Mutton Biryani was not good at all. Except Biryani others were average in taste.
The restaurant is just adjacent to India meusem at the end of sudder street towards park street. If you are coming from Esplanade dont take the fly way you have to take a side road. The restaurant serves Asian food the ambience is good. The food quality and taste is truly authentic. I used to work near by and visit the restaurant often for lunch.
An ever reliable place to visit. Food is still awesome and the staff are really nice and well spoken. The food was finger licking delicious. Inside ambiance and decoration is also good. All over a good experience.
Amazing food & amazing staff
Very expensive and fooding is pathetic... Firstly, they will serve bread then after 15-20 mins they serve curries n vegetables...Order has to be at once... They are too lazy to take multiple orders for 1 table...
The food is different from the regular food you get at other restaurants. They have their own version of dishes which might disappoint you. However, the food tastes good
The food tastes rich and flavoursome and the restaurant with its ambience and service, a really nice experience.
Very tasty food and Excellent service. The ambience here is also pretty posh. The Dahi me Kebab and Laccha Paratha are to die for. ❤️Valet parking available and the toilets are clean too. The food is on the pricier side but its worth it.
The zaranj e raan is a must try.Their kaali daal and laccha parathas are really great. The parathas dont have much oil. They taste great too.Their prawn malai kebab is also tasty.Their staffs are really courteous as well.
Having been going since past 15years.But today was my last time.Everything has become Hopeless ....
Nice Ambiance with expensive food, situauted near Indian Museam.
We booked for the sunday brunch for 20 guests, seeing lots of options in starters n main courses. But, when actually they serve is not at all the menu shows. The service of the staff is pathetic. In briyani, no mutton or chicken pieces was there, only small 3-4 seek kababs pieces, n portion is very small. In desert also, only 5 plates of kulfi served after that kulfi finished for the rest of the guests. The waiters only giving lame excuses for the delayed services n the quantity of the food is not as per the expectations. The bill amount was 1500 per person, but the food each one had was only of 500. Food was ok not great. Quantity was very less, waiting time is huge. Overall, total loss, as a customer. Not at all good for large gathering, as they dont serve the quality n quantity as promised.
Horrible food, it is very spicy and mutton was half cooked. Price is very high
Awesome food. Paneer was just too gud.
Price is too high but the food is not.
Good behaviour..Thank you.every guest wants owner like you mamhappy new year
This has been my all time favourite. Tomato dhania shorba is my childhood love. The rich ambiance and the quality of food & service will leave you mesmerised.
One of the most revered restaurants in the city. They have started completely renovating the Zaranj seating area and are now accommodating guests in the Asian side of the restaurant.Zaranj was decorated beautifully with small stream of water flowing throughout. The place was decorated with green pots and plants which added to the lovely ambiance of the whole restaurant. The food is okayish to start with.We tried a variety of dishes like the Fish Tikka (very dry), Chicken Tikka (very nice), American corn salt and pepper (was awesome), Chicken Barudi (too spicy to handle) and many more.
Ambience of this place is top notch you will feel good and relaxed coming to cost factor a bit expensive place now coming to food no doubt food is good and it tastes awesome but 1 big problem what I faced they serve food at room temperature and even dinner plates were cold and due to big fans running on top of your table you will feel you are eating cold food an average food served hot also tastes good and make you satisfied overall nice experience.
Nice place nice ambience.....north indian items slightly overpriced... chinese items good in taste reasonable price.....
Its become way better than it used to be after the renovation
Food was good.
Food and service is as good as always
Great for chinese
Super place.. with good food and friendly staff...
It remains best place for quality since last 20 years in Calcutta
Good food
Good Food
Visited this place to celebrate my birthday. Everything was decent.
The Quality of the food was very bad. Food was served cold and was not cooked properly. Not justified according to the price which they take. Half of my guests have fallen ill. Overall quality has changed a lot. Not visiting again.
Nice....
Delicious Food
Food was delicious. A little expensive for some items. The atmosphere was family friendly. The waiters and their service was fast good and satisfying.
Nice ambience and great food.
Good food
AMAZING
I visited the restaurant after 14 years this is not the place where I being to earlier Food quality deteriorated a lot. Bad service added 4 star to the quality of food. Just waste of time and money. Every thing moves like 1970 slow and time taking. Need to improve a lot very disappointed.
Nice atmosphere for family or professional dinner.. good and tasty snacks .. and main course meal.. good service
Food wasnt upto its name
It’s the best fine dine restaurant located in New market area and they serve delicious North Indian Cuisine, Mughlai Cuisine and Punjabi Cuisine. Ambiance is great. A great family restaurant, serving delicious kebabs, parathas, curries and biriyani. Food quality and quantity are good. The behavior of the staffs are also very good.
Good food, ambiance and serviceWhat more do you expect?
Located near the museum, this is one of the old restaurants of Kolkata. With the pricing being on the higher side this restaurant delivers great quality food. The ambience and the interior also makes the experience one of a kind.
Food quality deteriorated a lot. Bad service added 5 star to the quality of food. Just waste of time and money.
I loved this place a lot. The Dal Makhani was fabulous, and the ambience was also amazing. The chairs were the most comfortable ones Ive ever sat on, and the sound from the mini waterfall added to the ambience. I would recommend this place for family dinners. Its not tough on the pocket either. I hope this review would be helpful to youll.
Nice food nice ambience liked everything
Food is definitely not worth the price.. the quality of the food was very poor. Very bad dining experience as compared to my early visits to the restaurant. Not visiting again. A lot of people from my family have fallen ill.
Visited Zaranj after a long time and the difference in service was obvious. The food is still great and the crowd non stop but the restaurant seemed understaffed . The meat served here is halal and since for those who do not eat meat there is some vegetarian and fish option ....though it is not that varied .
This is very different restaurant altogether in Kolkata. Food is excellent and I enjoyed the non-vegetarian and vegetarian items. However food is most expensive here. May be the hotel management is restricting no of visitors by keeping high prices as they have limited space in the restaurant. In terms of service they are good.
This is my 5thvisit to this restaurant.. Service was Excellent as always ! Food was a bit on a sweeter side but was nice as usual .. Enjoyed !
Nice family place
Very hifi restaurant adjasent to Indian museum, costly food for the restaurant level. Not for middle class people, food is good but not worth its price, can get that quality in any nearby hotel for reasonable price.
Old resturant, still has the ambiance of the late 1997,very costly middle class cannot afford such places. Alcoholic stuff is double the amount available here
Cute
Food is good. But seating arrangement is poor. They first made us wait. Then seated us in the bar. We ordered the food .then a table was free in the main restaurant. We were shifted. Later in the bill we were charged different for same thing. Reason the prices are differnt in bar menu and restaurant menu.
Amazing indian food.
A decent place to dine. Bit overpriced but nice food. Been there many times and tasted many of their signature dishes. Liked their Tandoori chicken. Had a bitter experience once as they have served something that was not on the menu but recommended. The bill blew us up!
It was 5 star years ago, now has no place compared to even small restora around. Old ambiance, super old waiters, no good starters nor food. Yes one thing is good is that is priced.
As per the price point food wasnt good, price is only for the ambience
Realyy good food must visut with good service and behaviour worthy totally
Nice food...cooperative staff....not expensive
Not worth the price except the ambience
Money worthy food
Excellent ambiance, nice decoration, high standard of service. Foods are very good in taste. Staffs are very professional.
Excellent place for Indian cuisine. Kebabs are very good. Ambiance and service are also of high standards. Pocket pinch 1500 per pax minimum.
Great Chinese recipe 👌
Loved it. Mirchi paratha was yummy
The food the service the ambience is still top notch! Well done to the team.
Renowned destination for quality North Indian food. We say old is gold. Wonderful food for the family. Not to be missed. Have been coming here from the Early 80s.
It was a great experience....Great hospitality, very rare to find. Keep it up.
Excellent ❤️ restaurant
One of the best place around kolkata to dine in..... Amazing food especially the kebabs, biriyani... Awesome ambiance....... The behavior of the staffs are also very good.
One of the best restaurants in the city. Great interiors and very friendly staff. Food is good
North Indian food out here is amazing! The service is good and it’s an old classic place for us.
Great place, good staff, great ambience, nd good assistance..
Sophisticated ambiance..good food.expensive one..
Really nice & authentic Laccha parathas & a wholesome Veg. Tandoori food experience.
My Danish Friends and I went to have dinner today and we had lamb Hyderabadi dumpukht biryani, , cucumber raita, jheenga malai curry, steamed rice, plain and butter nun and chicken sorba and saag and Jin & tonic as drinks. The food was excellent to taste and big spicy. The mutton was succulent and the raita was very apt combo with the biryani. Service was excellent and my Danish friends were very happy with their overall experience.I shall take my friends again and I personally would visit again
As usual the food was delicious and as expected. Went there after almost 12 years. A New Menu awaited us, though I missed my favorite Chicken Lababdar.
