Our association with the bookshop goes back to the time when it was known as Landmark on Lord Sinha Road. Even after it had changed to its present avatar i.e. Starmark, our visits to the outlets at South City and Quest have remained quite frequent.Unfortunately, our yesterdays visit to the Quest outlet was rather disappointing, to say the least. To us, a bookshop is no less than a library where the only noise comes from turning of the pages of a book and at times, a few whispers on certain essential exchanges. But to our utter dismay, yesterday the whole shop was abuzz with the recorded chanting of some mantras / shlokas at an unusually high volume which apart from being extremely monotonous, was a huge distraction for us. As a result, we had to leave the shop as fast as possible - with only two books out of our list of about seven or so.We, therefore, suggest that (i) the customers must not be subjected to what we experienced yesterday and (ii) the shop should be maintained as a silence zone.
