My experience @ this dental surgery is beyond words.I had an appointment @ Chopra Saturday am March 20,21 only to find out upon arrival the receptionist demandedI pay £50.00 upfront. The reason was my appointment waswritten as emergency in the patient diary book. I clearlyexplained my appointment was Not an emergency. Myoriginal appointment with Chopra was cancelled last springdue to this pandemic. I asked for another appointment &the immediate reply from the receptionist was a clear No.I walked out not wishing to ever return to this business again. My teeth deserve alot better treatment.I have never had oneCavity in my life !!!!!! I went here to have a broken tooth extracted and, after I admitted my fear of dentists, the dentist here was extremely kind and understand. He had the nurse hold my hand through the procedure, explained what he was doing throughout, and asked several times if I needed him to stop. By the time it go to pulling out the tooth I was so relaxed I was surprised when he announced he had finished.

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING DENTISTRY VERGING ON CRIMINAL CONDUCT.HiCould I please arrange an appointment for a second opinion regarding a dental appointment I had today at 1030hrs (9/9/2020) in Canterbury. This time with my own Dentist.I believe there has been some confusion... The last time I saw Mr Opoku I was in severe pain for three days and had blood coming out of my mouth. The reason for this was because a load of glue had been left in my mouth, which was cutting into my cheek. Astonishingly, I believe the appointment which has been made for me is with Mr Okoku again as it has his name at the top of the statement I was given. Obviously, I have previously stated that I will not be treated by him again.. This appointment is for 30th of September at 2pm...In addition: I have been looking at your website and believe that an attempt is being made to overcharge me for said treatments..In addition to this:.. Mr Okoku has also stated that a second filling is required because the current filling is falling out and.. staining my teeth.. This blatant and ridiculous lie demonstrates categorically either: His total incompetence or his very sinister tortious dishonesty. I would therefore appreciate it if you would forward my comments to the owner of your business, so he or she, can explain to me which one of these two scenarios is correct.Naturally.. I will also require an explanation of how I ended up in his chair again in the first place. My very best regards,Kevin Overy10TH September 2020 @0945hrs: I was contacted by the Canterbury practice inviting me to arrange an appointment to attend an assessment in Sittingbourne.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dear Sir or Madam,Thankyou for your kind invitation to arrange an appointment to attend an assessment in Sittingbourne.Obviously, I would like to decline your generous offer. The reasons for this include but are not limited to:....~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thursday 10th September 2020 14:13HRS I have received the following email from Mr Okoku:My attention has been drawn by My Boss that you were not happy about yesterdays appointment and what transpired.I completely understand why you are upset when you told reception you didnt want to see me again. The response from the practice owner Peter Chopra was~~~~~~~~~~..I am sorry that you have been unhappy with the dentists you have seen at our Canterbury practice and have had reason to complain.Under the circumstances I would suggest that as you are dissatisfied with your experience at our practice that you find another dental practice for a second opinion and for future provision of your dental care.Thank youPeter ChopraPractice owner

I dont normally leave Google reviews, but I want to here because I think its right that people have a warning.

Had to have a filling redone here, after moving to canterbury for uni, and not having the means to travel home to get it redone in Hertfordshire.Chopra and associates did not fully clean out the decay/cavity, and now about a year and a half later, I have had to have the filling redone (at a much better dentist, back home in Herts).Chopra also didnt care for the fact that I could feel them drilling and hitting a nerve, and almost seemed to care more about getting the filling in, rather than making sure it was fully clean and ready to fill. The dentist who did the filling was also rude, and did not care that I was an extremely nervous patient.I went to make an appointment onton a Friday have this filling redone, for chopra to wait until the DAY OF APPOINTMENT (Monday)to inform me they could not do this due to Covid-19, even after telling me on Saturday that they could not excavate the tooth, this is understandable, but they could have let me know sooner, as I changed my plans to fit around the appointment.I also had to have my wisdom teeth x-rayed with Chopra, to then be told that they wouldnt take them out anyway, wasting the hospitals time, as well as my own. I am now having to go and have these in hospital, almost 3 years after the x-ray, when Chopra could have referred me there and then.I would recommend going elsewhere, rather than wasting your time having treatment done at chopra that will need to be redone at a later date.

I was referred here by my own dentist to have two wisdom teeth removed. I was slightly worried after reading the previous reviews; I neednt have been. The dentist and nurse took their time and explained everything to me. Each tooth was out within five minutes with minimal pain. Whilst recovering the second time, I was worried about some after effects of the anaesthetic, so I popped back in, explained this to the receptionist who immediately got on the phone to the dentist and he saw me again within minutes. This practice is busy both times Ive been in, so given they see a large number of patients daily, I would not be too concerned about the minority who are less satisfied and post their experiences. I would happily visit them again

We went there this time last year with my partner for check up, I needed two fillings and my partner one. Doctor was not as warm with us and did not explained himself in plain English to understand the issues with our teeth. We went back for fillings, mine went okay but my partners did not as she had pains for several days and she was feeling that liquid and food was going under the filling. We went back after a week and the doctor said that its nothing wrong with it and not to worry. The pain went but she still had the feeling that food has been going under the filling but ignore it as doctor said is nothing to worry about. After a year she had terrible pains on the same tooth for days, we went back for emergency appointment, they charge us 21 pounds for 4-5 minutes just to say that the filling is fine, you might have infection but take painkillers and come back if the pain dont go away. My partner was in agony for a week (not being able to sleep), and I call for emergency appointment again few days after. They dentist spend 2 minutes for checking, just to say that they cant see what the cause of pain is and she will refer her to the hospital for further examination. . . Not explaining when this will be, not explaining the process, nothing!! I asked the reception and the young lady there said that they will call us from the hospital in a rude manner. . . Someone that is in a terrible pain I think is sensible to know that the issue will be solved as soon as possible!! She couldnt bare the pain so after trying to see another NHS dentist the same day was not possible (made 10 calls), waiting 30 min to talk to someone on the NHS emergency line without success, we ended up going to a private dentist for an emergency appointment, paying 82 pounds but it came out to be the best decision (we wanted to avoid this as we are students). The doctor at Ian Small at St Dunstans Dental Practice (Canterbury) was very warm and understanding with my partner, did some checks in professional manner, took a book out and showed to my partner where the problem was, found that the tooth is infected, he removed the filling, clean as much infection as he could, and put a new filling which made my partner a happy person again as the pain is gone for now at least. He also explained that she has the option to clean the infection and do specific procedure to safe the tooth (expensive option) or just remove the tooth (cheap option). Can someone tell me why the NHS dentist (3 different ones overall) could not do this??? It does make you not to trust NHS. . . Another question is, if the dentist last year was able to find a way to stop food and liquid going under the filling, could this infection be prevented?? Could my partner ended up not loosing her tooth?? Very disappointing!! If you cant provide professional service just close it down. The public in suffer are not your victims!!

I hadnt been to the dentist in years and it finally got to the stage where I was having some serious problems. The building isnt particularly nice, the receptionists arent particularly friendly and its always overcrowded with a long wait to be seen. Had I ever been in the dole queue, I have a feeling it would be somewhat of a similar experience as the waiting room. The treatment rooms are very small and the equipment is not that up to date (certainly compared with private treatment).Putting this aside the treatment isnt actually that bad, I had quite a lot of work done there from fillings to a root canal and crowns. The dentists that I had seamed friendly enough too and were always pretty good about explaining things.Really if you cant afford private and need NHS treatment its acceptable and youll get the treatment you need.

To put it nicely this place is a joke. The staff act like 5yr old children. I had a problem with my back tooth since January 2018. I went back 5 times about the same tooth. Each time I was told it was my gum and to floss... then this particular time I rang up and mentioned my mum said to me in conversation that it could need root treatment again (She used to work in dentistry years ago) So I described to the receptionists that I want an x-ray to see if the tooth needs treating again and if not then I want to know why my tooth hurts so much. I got a very rude sarcastic response as if this threatened them all professionally... Especially from the older receptionist after the young girl, the first one I spoke to didnt seem to know what she was doing... My appointment came and the receptionist had written a sarcastic remark on my notes so that when I turned up the dentist Daniel sat me down, laughed at me and asked if I wanted my mummy to come and floss my teeth for me or is your mum outside because she can come and do the root treatment if she knows it needs it HOW RUDE! I came to this professional place to get professional help... The dental nurse Sunika then proceeded to laugh with Daniel and victimise me whilst I sat in the dental chair. She then proceeded to give me the flossing tool with blood on and told me to keep it for reassurance on buying the flossing tools. DISGUSTING! Higuene rules and regulations are surely not being followed. I came out of there and paid the initial appt fee and the receptionist smirked at me as if to say see you didnt need treatment. (I never said I did, I just asked if they could check!) So I walked out of there with my mother in law and cried! Ive never felt so bullied and humiliated in all my life!! My mother in law was sat in the waiting room and could hear the whole thing as the dentist and the dental nurse were not being discreet and were loud.Since, Ive rung up again to get another appt and Ive been hung up on a billion times after being put on hold a numerous amount of times so as you might guess... This became very annoying. When i eventually get through, they ask for my name (which I respond with) they say oh yes Ive heard that name before and become very sheepish when speaking to me and can never see me quickly.WHAT HAVE I ACTUALLY DONE!? ARE THEY NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONALS!?Yesterday I was in agony with my tooth, enough was enough so I made the trip into Canterbury, rang the dentist at 9am and got hung up on again and again... I eventually pluck up the courage to go in to the dental practice. I explain I cant cope with the pain anymore, I need to see somebody today please and they instantly say oh we cant see you as we are fully booked for weeks I said surely you have dental emergency appointments, I really need to see somebody (I say nearly in tears). They proceed to give me and emergency number to ring.40 minutes later after being put on hold I eventually speak to someone who advised me to go to dentaline that evening as there were no appointments in Kent!So I took it upon myself to go into another dentist and ask them to help. St Georges practice in Canterbury 5*, they were so helpful and understanding. I got an appointment that day where the dentist said the tooth had 2 cracks and needs to come out... Perfect I thought! Finally no more pain!! She tries to take it out but didnt want to break the tooth more, so refurred me to a specialist to take it out... At CHOPRA! 😂 Im assured that the specialists dont deal direct with the dentists there so Id be ok.I then get a phone call from CHOPRA to book my refurral, when asked what my name was I got a very shocked response. I proceeded to spell my name as she asked me 3 times what I said... She said oh but you came here this morning? I said yes and you couldnt help me and as I went to leave, I turned back to double check something and you were both smirking about me so I went else where to get help.Later I rang dentaline and I didnt fit the criteria!A joke!

Not a kind bone in her body. The down stairs reception is dark and dingy, the waiting room upstairs is better but very bland. My previous dentist was extremely helpful and kind when I told her I had an eating disorder (which I am getting treatment for). She offered to treat me for it by adding to my teeth a plastic coating to protect the enamel from acid erosion. I couldnt get the treatment as I moved, and joined Chopra. The dentist was extremely unhelpful when I asked him for help in getting this treatment. He denied that there was such a thing, and made me feel stupid and embarrassed. I was so confused as to why one dentist would tell me of this treatment, and why this dentist was denying it. Not knowing the proper name for it, I apologised and went home with only one cavity being offered treatment..After some research, I found out the first dentist was talking about putting sealants on my teeth. They are very cheap and easy for dentists to do. Now, either my dentist doesnt know what they are (which is worrying seeing as how simple they are), or simply could not be bothered to help someone that is not private.

When I got to see the dentist on my first visit she was also rude and unhelpful, as was the dental nurse. I expressed I was in a lot of pain, she prescribed me toothpaste!!! The pain got worse, I had to ring Dentaline (The out of hours dentist). I visited them at Canterbury hospital. They prescribed me antibiotics for an infection in my tooth. It didnt get better so I made another appointment at Chopra. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. Half an hour later I still hadnt been called so I asked at reception if the dentist knew I was there, yes she knows was the receptionists reply. No apology for the delay. A whole hour after my appointment time the dental nurse calls me in. No apology from her or the dentist either. By this time it was 10minutes before their lunchbreak. I told her how much pain I had been in since the last visit, she prescribed antibiotics but said I needed a filling but she couldnt do it then. I begged her to make the pain stop and for her to treat me (I was crying at his point, no comfort from either of them). So I left and I am guessing they rushed out to lunch. I will not go there again. Lousy dentist. Moist staff. Lousy treatment. Rude. Uncaring. DO NOT GO HERE. I have since seen a dentist in Herne Bay, kind, caring and actually treated me.
