Took a short spin around Kumartuli idol maker lane to witness the mesmerizing idols being prepared for Durga Pujo. The idol makers work so hard with precision and skill to make the idols and decorations. The lane is quite narrow so prefer walking on foot or with a two wheeler. This place is also photographer friendly. Will visit once again when they start painting the idols.

Few weeks left for Durga pujo, 2021. Those first two photos were from 2020 pujo. Idk what will be happening in this pujo. But heres a glimpse of our Kumor Para aka Kumortuli, where you can already get that pujo vibes. As kolkata is known for the city of joy, it is also known for its durga pujo. I can write about this whole day and tokhuno itll not end.. also like our durga pujo.. it never ends.. we always say asche bochor abar hobe means it will happen again next year . Its never ends. Its a cycle. Its magical. Pujo is everything for every Bangali. If you want to experience this, come to Kolkata, the city of Durga Maa.

Just when few days are left for Durga Maa’s arrival, it is always delightful to watch making idol.

In North Kolkata one of the best Pujo is Kumurtuli park Sarbojonin Durgaa Puja.They a big park so their theme always big.Last time their theme was aliens and UFO..It looks very nice but the crowd control system totally failed on the evening the guards are behave very bad to the visitors..Entry gate was so small many people cant watch the idol or pandel properly.

Nostalgic about the age old kumor para of Kolkata especially after covid lockdown. One of must visits here during just before puja.

I am 30 years old and a passionate traveller hence never been to one of my dream destination kumortuli, it was a experience I expected ❤️, the streets where empty due to covid 19 lockdowns, and all shops are getting ready for the next biggest anthem of Bengali the durgapuja festival. It was quit it was just as dreamt of. I have always seen photos of kumortuli and now I have also visited it. If you are a art lover sculpture lover photographer you must visit this place once.

Visited 1 month ago, the place was great but they charged 50 rs per head just for visiting the place even we dont carred any camera.

Visited pre Saraswati puja during covid times .Crowdy place (expected) the idol makers are busy with their job .You can books idols before hand from here but for a outing if you consider a fantasy couple destination in North Kolkata with the Hooghly river just by the side.Good place for a small outing.

They also export their idols to other countries and communities. The name of the famous street with the idol merchants is known as Banamali Sarkar Street. There’s a famous Hindu temple named Dhakeshwari Mata Temple nearby.

What a place it is, the idols,murals that Potters were preparing were looking as they will soon utter a word and start conversation. How fine they have carved those niche architecture from the soil. You can only experience that awesomeness once you visit that place and have a word with the people who are preparing those immortal idols.

This is not a permanent place. It operates seasonally only during the celebration of Durgapuja is there a marquee or pandal . Practically a few million people come here in that period to see the artistic displays...

The crowd is forced. You have to stand for long hours to get in and have the view. Still when you reach they wont let you see the Goddesses properly and the whole atmosphere is very exhausting and suffocating!

Great pandal. But made people wait for 20 mins for making room to some vip s. Very bad practice and violating our CMs directive

Too much crowdy.. but they have a very good reputation of beautiful idol making. This year they got too much crowd that they cant handle very well . It was a long queue for the entrance but they gave only 4-5 seconds to have a glimpse of the idol and interior..!! And the volunteers werent that good too .

Kumartuli as usual was fantastic this year too. However, the crowd control was far from good. 1 hour of standing in queue, you not even get 1 min to explore the pandal.

I always visit Kumartuli Sarbojonin puja pandal because every year there theme is unique. This time there theme is kalpataru.It is really amazing.

The pandal and the idol was superb.

Brilliant execution of theme and plan. Devi Idol every year is out of the box. Entry to the pandal is wide enough. The fair at the exit is an added bonus. Way out to other Durga Puja pandals indicated properly with lighted streets.

Wonderful decor. Wonderful Protima. Wonderful concept. Easily a top 3 of all in Kolkata. The crowd is huge as well. A must for any pandel enthusiast. It will be worth every sweat. Simply put. Majestic. Period.

Worst experience ever .. they were so violent the volunteers nd puja committee doesnt allow visitors to stand for a nano sec there... Moreover the guards were bitting the visitors who were taking photos... people where not allowed to take pictures inside the puja pandel if they were caught by guards doing this they were bitten badly by guards
