It is an amazing place! A complete jungle experience right in the vicinity of the city! Also a paradise for bird lovers and bird photography enthusiasts! Beautiful trails and lush greenery makes the visit a soothing one indeed. The entry fee is just ₹50 and there is no extra charge for still cameras. The place opens at 6AM in the morning and closes at 5PM in the evening. It was told to us that during winters, it opens half an hour early.

Great initiative taken by Forest Dept. To preserve this place. A migrating ground for many birds during winters, presence of a great no.reptile species as well. Winters usually see a crowded season for Photographers mainly for the special birds which come here. This place also great for relaxation and enjoying the lush greenery around. Has a good flora species diversity, especially many Mango species. The large trees form a canopy which gives an enchanting atmosphere to enjoy .

It was my first time in this Bird Sanctuary. Bird are rare to find but if you want to explore a small yet beautiful forest, you should come and visit this place! But they should have maintained the forest & preserve its beauty at its best!!!Lastly If you love nature and quite place with less human beings then with minimal entry price you can get unlimited pleasure time there.Have fun with your family/friends.

The place is full of trees , It looks like a mini forest. In the entire portion of this place you get the feel of forest. There are lots of birds inside the sanctuary but Its very rare to see them. When you visit this place bright some food and drinking water for yourself because inside of the place there is no option for food and water. The place is near Of Kolkata Garia Metro Station. The most astonishing fact about this place is its location. Such diversity in a city area is something we should Cherish and take care of. The whole visit would give you a mini jungle feel. It is advisable to go with a group and a solo visit might just not be comforting. What can you expect in the sanctuary ?Well , the place is not one of the most well maintained may be because it is not popular. But one can expect bird watching , the lush greenery inside the space and a pond which is not maintained. The path is covered with plants , creepers and huge trees . A 2-3 hour span is good enough to enjoy the beauty of nature in the middle of the city. Early morning visits are preferred. The entry charge is as low as rs 10. I hope people go there and experience this forest feel in the middle of a Metropolitan city !

Serene, calm and untouched are the words that best define this marvelous sanctuary. While strolling through the bushes and exploring the unknown natural alleys, formed by different variety of trees, you will feel like walking through a dense forest. But, in reality, the forest area is not very vast in size and is extremely safe. You can compare this place to Botanical Garden that is situated in Howrah, West Bengal. CKBS is the home to several exotic species of trees, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians as well as insects. The place is known to me for last 12 years. It is degrading very quickly and the gradual death of a ecosystem is tragic. While few species of birds are found here ( enticed by trees, shade and water to drink) these birds actually have nowhere to go. Their population is not increasing and more knowledgeable people may write to confirm or refute my observation. The natural trees, shrubs and climbers of Gangetic plain which should form the canopy is not present here as it was traditionally a mango grove. Today, many large trees have fallen, there is little afforestation to see ( again I speak from last 12 years of observation) but the guards on duty are good and prevent physical interference to a large degree. What this place now needs is a field biology unit who can examine the flora and establish a self-sustaining ecosystem. Otherwise, this place with its beautiful thickets of bamboo, carpets of fallen leaves and fleeting glimpses of the Asian paradise flycatcher ( yes I saw it here in 2009) will be no more - converted into another man-made man-handled man-centred development.

A very serene and quiet little patch of tropical green close to the city, it is definitely a place to go visit if you want to get away for a while.Entry is cheap and the greenery inside feels like an actual proper jungle, though the occasional odd shack in the middle does take away that aesthetic a bit.A lot of birds can be found, as is expected of a bird sanctuary, but theres also (supposedly) jackals, various rare butterflies and a wide variety of snakes. Venomous types included. It is recommended you do not stray from the walking path. The tree cover is good, with actual canopies in parts of the sanctuary.Accessibility is rather difficult in the sense that it can be tough to get there by public transport since buses do not run on the southern bypass. The only possible route would be to take a bus or Auto to Rathtala and either walking or taking an electric three wheeler to the park. Or taking a cab.Getting there in a private car is easy enough. Its straight down the EM bypass towards Baruipur.Overall, its definitely something you ought to check out if you like your forests.

Its just a garden with few big trees and lots and lots of weeds, a narrow clay pathway takes you to the other side of the garden. Along the way you might hear some birds twittering around but very hard to spot them if not visiting early in the morning. A small pond with a little water and thats it, yes.It could have been maintained hell of a lot better way, weeding out and more and more big tree plantation is something could have added lot values. First of all let me tell you if you are planning to take your 150 -600 mm lens here for great bird shots you will be dissappointed . For a proper bird watching experience most bird santuaries have an enclosure from behind which people can see birds feeding . The bird feed has to be provided by whomever is interested in taking photos . This place does not have such a facility . All the bird remain so high in the branches it is nearly impossible to get profile shots of birds . Profile shots is possible if the birds come down near the ground . This place is just a bunch of wilderness protected by a group of wonderful people .
