Have gone there for some audition 4 year ago😅. But not clean or hygienic place. Canteen is not good and their food quality is not good as well 😂😒. But the studios and the officials were very polite and respectful. Studio was just fantastic in a word. Though I didnt got selected in the audition 😓

Third graded place in Kolkata right now....dirt and unhygienic canteen and studio unorganised offices and illiterate officials running the place....they don’t know how to treat a human being or an artist.The building is also not well maintained anymore.Wastage of govt money and resources...govt should appoint officials and audit the place and take serious proper decision about it. It should be shut down as early as possible.

In 1939, broadcasting was started for foreign audiences. In the year 1940, Professor A.S. Bokhari became the controller of Broadcasting and became the D.G. in 1943. In 1947, there were 6 stations in India – Calcutta, Bombay, Madras, Delhi, Lucknow, Trivendrum; and five principle stations at Baroda, Mysore, Trivendrum, Hyderabad & Aurangabad.The Marconi Company from England conducted several test broadcasts from different locations in Calcutta. The first concert program was heard at a distance of three miles, and subsequently a discourse from the local gulf club was heard at a distance of 72 miles. This same transmitter was made available on loan to the Calcutta Radio Club, who launched their own radio station in November 1923 under the callsign 2BZ. The Marconi company made another transmitter available to the government in West Bengal who operated their station as 5AF. Both stations in Calcutta, 2BZ and 5AF, were closed when the national government established its own station, 7CA-VUC, in 1927

The programs presented by the Health and Family Welfare and Science Section are really a major source to know more and for the awareness for the health. Also some traditional programs like Pratyahiki, Manoniyesu are such a good programs.

A nice heritage & a place with history & the heart of radio programs

Akashvani Bhavan is one of the oldest broadcasting centre of All India Radio located just beside the Eden Garden at a stone through distance from the Esplanade Central Bus stand and Metro Railway Station , Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

I went there for a training course and was amazed to see the infrastructure and equipments present inside. Ever since I took up communication as my degree specialization, Ive wanted to visit this place badly. I went to the Esplanade and Amtala branches and leaned a lot about FM radio waves, signal communication and other associated modes of radio communication.
