The name, quirky isnt it....The story I wont tell you, you should visit and find out, its worth it bigtime...Coming to the cafe located at the same beside the lenskart, apollo clinic oppo south city. Its just not a vegan cafe it is more than that. It spreads the idea of stray animal adoption, neutering them, gathering funds for the same. Conservation of our natural resources ,taking care of the environment and offcourse being vegan alongside the idea of recycling too. Every bit of the message these guys are spreading is needed and is one for the present-future to be honest.Coming to the look, the decor is aesthetic and bigtime insta worthy, you will go bonkers with the wall murals they have all over, the furniture looks legit rad and guess what its all recycled.Food is simplistic yet nutritious to the core, trust me this is the kind of food which fills you and yet is vegan. For an ardent non veg freak like me to love veg cuisine and vegan meat and vegan milk is not easy unless its that good and these guys are legit amazing at it.Start with refreshing good old Lemonadethen go for chocolate loveshake (trust me you wont even feel its non dairy its that good)Falafel with Hummus is legit yummy and a must try alongside chicken Nuggets (Againits vegan meat and you wont even realize it) another must try.Do contribute to the donation they have going on for the neutering of local strays. Smallest donations helps a long way.A huge round to the team who growing this brand and spreading this idea, more needed. To conserve, To save , To protect our natural resources and animals we need this.

A slice of vegan paradise right in the middle of the city! The food is fresh and delicious, the mock meats are literally indistinguishable. The staff and the owner Abhinav are so friendly, and there’s nothing more inspiring than witnessing a group of people establish something that they truly believe in, to create a better future. They even have a vegan merch corner with cute one of a kind merch. But the highlight of my visit was their cat Buchki! She is loving and sassy at the same time and you can’t help but pet her! I’ll definitely revisit!

I like to try out new things. If youre a meat lover like me but want to switch towards vegan or consume less meat, this is where you should be looking at.Food tastes good and satiates your meat urge. High in nutrition if youre into fitness. Cute ambience, warm & friendly owners. And you can order online or pay a visit. An interesting concept with a purpose.

So heres the thing; the concept behind the place is beautiful. Focuses on sustainability, mindfulness and a better lifestyle for a healthier tomorrow, hence, the whole vegan meat thing. Vegan meat, however, doesnt work. People who are meat lovers would never switch to vegan meat because the taste is nothing close to it and that exact reason, I believe, shall eventually cause the downfall of the concept. One might try out the dishes out of curiosity but shall get utterly disappointed. More so because when the nomenclature of the dishes produces a definitive idea of how the dish might taste in reference to the actual non veg version. I couldnt quite put forward my point to the promoters while I was there because of the fact that I was tired but having been given a second opportunity I would suggest them to scrap out the whole vegan meat deal and rather focus on healthy vegetarian meals. That might just help to create a more loyal client base. All the very best in their endeavours

Credit goes to the wonderful Wonders of Waste that made chairs and tables out of old, discarded wood, car seats and the like. The wall and shelves are also decorated with artwork as well as donated, recycled and upcycled stuff like cardboard boxes holding plants, bottles, books among other things. We tried : Fysh Fry, Grilled Shrymp , Grilled Salamy Sandwich, Luchi Kosha Mangsho, Chycken Tikka pizza, Almond Brownie & Banana Walnut CakeYes, food is completely vegan curated to perfection using Mock Meat and tastewise, its absolutely out of the world, I swear. The team at Ubuntu, Kolkatas first and only vegan restaurant, is doing a fantastic job in dispelling the common misconception that vegan food doesnt taste good. Where do I begin to tell about Ubuntu?I have visited several cafes, not only in Kolkata, but abroad too, and I have never felt at home in any cafe as I have felt at Ubuntu. Each and every person here are extremely warm, friendly, hospitable, compassionate, empathetic, kind, caring, lovable, simple & down to earth. Everytime I walk into the cafe I am greeted like a family member. The decor is simple and aesthetically done.Food is excellent and each item is delicious... it has to be! because its prepared with love and care. I have so many favourites - Payesh (rice pudding), falafel & hummus, Kosha mangsho (meat) with luchi/rice, grilled shrimps (the spinach topping is lip snacking), shorshe chingri (prawns in mustard), wedges, fysh fry, Sahi (Dahi) Vada, icecream & brownie, lemon tea with a hint of syrup.... I can go on and on.. and all these are cruelty free i.e. non-animal. I can guarantee you will not be able to make out the difference. Unbelievable! And while you fill your stomach up with Vegan non-veg food, you will feel happy that you have not hurt any animal. If you visit this cafe for the first time, you will be entertained with the beautiful story behind the making of the cafe, while you enjoy your food.At the next level is the stay area, where they have an AirBnB as well as hostel for travellers and backpackers. The 3rd level is a space where people can come together and share as Community. This place is a treasure of knowledge and learning, where they keep having events or screening of movies on health or awareness on saving the planet. They also have yoga and dance/zumba classes there. And hence, their tagline explains it all Eat.Live.Share.Ubuntu Community Café is a true example of I Am, Because We AreUbuntu Community Café is Indias 1st eco-friendly vegan Community cafe, and rightly so...... One of our top favorite dishes is Thai Green Curry. I and my wife loved trying it from any Thai restaurant we found during our stay in Singapore and travels across Southeast Asia and Australia. Though finding a good vegetarian/vegan Thai Curry in southeast Asia was difficult, in Australia however it was heaven. The chefs in UBUNTU have finally given us a place to find that same authentic goodness locally. I am confident the rest of the cuisines on offer here is will be as good as they are right on the money for Thai.Though, I prefer to make my own food, as I can treat myself pretty well at home. Still there few things like my top favorite which I dont know how to make or have access to the right ingredients. So this place is going to be one of the very few restaurants that I feel excited about.Good Job Shreya and team.
