A nice outlet by Rang De Basanti Dhaba at the top floor of Star Mall,Madhyamgram. The ambience of the resturant is very eye catching and everything in this restaurant is a fution of a road side dhaba and a modern resturant.The food quality is very good.. quantity is decent I would say.. we have ordered Dilli ka butter chicken (with bone) which is a famous item of this dhaba and its simply awesome😍 besides of that we have ordered RDBD mutton dum biriyani which is also very tasty. The masala kulcha and the butter tandoori roti was okeyish.. I would not recommend the last two bread item at all..Looking forward to visit again..

Waste of money they are taking 55rs for a bottle water of mrp 20rs and also adding hygiene charges of 5 percent for providing sanitizer.

So lets divide this in four parts.Ambience first.So its really well decorated, with a hue of yellow and grey and black. There is a huge tractor, right there inside. The walls are furnished with awesome filmy posters from old-school bollywood. Buckets and alluminium kettles are wisely used as lights. So when I say dhaba and a rustic image pops up in ur mind, its just not like that. Very sophisticated and well arranged.Next comes food.Food is really nice, soothing on pallet, and their speciality drink Basanti Goli Soda is charming. When you go there, you must try the tikkas and the tandoori chicken, the utterly butterly chicken, mutton rara and the amazing hari mirchi nun bread. So yes, choice is small, but satisfactory.Then, the service.They are good hosts. They will ask you everything, your comfort is their priority. They are really helpful in selecting the meal you wanna order, they will describe the dish to you as well. But....there is a little bit of wait before the food arrives.Finally, the price.Its a bit harsh on pocket, given the portion and amount of food served. You can have a look to the price in the menu section of this restaurant. Behaviour of the staffs were really humble. The ambience inside the restaurant was really great with mind soothing background music.Nearest Railway station- Barasat Railway station and Madhyamgram Railway station. Very nice experience . You can take ur order to home too. Food quality is superb and price is reasonable. Its mouth watering. Sitting arrangements should be increased. A huge crowd always approaches during festive season. Otherwise all okay.

The North Indian dishes have a separate place in my heart. The best part of North Indian dishes cuisine is that they even make vegetarian delicacies way too delicious and mouth watering for you. Though please note, I am not complaining about other cuisines. The Dhaba culture shown in Bollywood movies, typically stopping by a roadside dhaba to have some desi food is something I have grown up watching. So, this indistinctive liking for dhaba style food, Punjabi food has always got me craving, be it any season of the year specially when its winters, that craving for enjoying some hot pipping food admist the cold-foggy weather in a desi ambience is of another level. But one wouldnt find much street style dhabas in Kolkata instead there are some fancy dhaba styled restaurants out here to give you that desi vibe of hanging out in dhaba with authentic dhaba style food preparation and presentation. Few days ago, I visited Barasat area for some work and during lunch I wanted to try out some authentic North Indian winter special dishes. So I decided to visit Rang De Basanti Dhaba located in Star Mall, the address reads as —5th Floor, 74/1, North, Jessore Rd, Sisir Kunja, Madhyamgram, Kolkata - 700129. As their tagline goes Dil Se Desi, they have an amazing Desi style designed ambience with a truck positioned inside, kettles with lights hanging from walls, Bollywood quotes with a twist of food words in them, etc. The moment you step into the place, its gonna give you a very lively desi dhaba type vibe. Also to mention they have launched their Winter Special Menu named as Soup, Saag & Sardi, really made me happy as I was looking out for some specific winter season north Indian dishes. I tried out —Tamatar Dhania Naag Chilli Shorba — This is North Indian special Tomato, Coriander soup which was slightly on a spicy side. The hot - pipping desi soup served in a desi clay glass really tasted amazing. It was accompanied with kulcha slices.Sarson Ka Saag with Makke Ki Roti — The most stereotyped dish of Punjab. Winter is the time when vegetable markets are loaded with lush green leafy vegetables. Mustard leaves have a distinct bitter taste, which goes away after cooking it to a certain extent. Usually, a little jaggery is added in to balance the flavour. Sarson ka Saag tastes best with makki ki roti, home-made white butter, and jaggery. Its hard to tweak around with a perfect combination as this. Traditionally, the saag was cooked in earthen pots with charcoal underneath that gave it a smoky flavour. The dish was lip-smacking good. Not only tasty but its also beneficial heathwise that too in this Pandemic, where immunity boosting foods should be a priority. Located on the top floor of the Star Mall, Madhyamgram. Big place with lots of sitting arrangements. Must try item - Chicken momo tikka, Biriyani, Fish finger. Awadhi & north Indian is their main speciality. Pocket pinch around 800-900 INR for two.

Food was served hot, tasted good. Ambience and service were also welcoming. Price is slightly on the higher side, but overall affordable.

Recently went to this outlet of Rang de basanti dhaba for lunch with my colleagues which is situated at the 5th floor of STAR MALL. We usually order naan with some chicken side dish and biryani but upon reaching we found out that they have launched a winter menu which includes few soups variety and one main dish. We had ordered some from their winter menu like the Tamatar Dhania shorba & Paya shiri shorba which were quite good.Along with that took Makke di roti and sarson ka saag.This was my first time trying sarson ka saag and it was good too!Apart from this ,we took Utterly butterly chicken along with Mutton Biryani.The chicken were quite tender and gravy tasted amazing and goes best with garlic naan or tandoori roti but the biryani was a bit bland in taste with no aroma or proper taste whatsoever.Overall the food was good and the ambience surely gives a dhaba vibes!

None of the foods are up to point. The biryani just feels like rice with curry. The tandoori rotis are burnt and even worse than plain rotis. Very dissapointed.

This is a gem waiting to be discovered on Jessore Road. This outlet in Star Mall is simply great for food, ambience and service. Its tucked away on the floor above the food court. They have a wide variety of items on the menu which also changes. Prices are also very reasonable. If they keep the food quality and prices this way, its bound to be a runaway success.

Bad ....worst food quality .yesterday I had to throw away my food to waste bin ..same thing happened with rang de basanti diamond plaza when I took biriyani......same thing happened yesterday when I took masala kulcha and alu do peyaja...it was so so bad ...I wasted my Rs 424 ..please give my money back ..and one thing I noticed that one person in the shop was serving food without mask ..

Not a good experience. The manager is not competent. Prime example of how customer retention tools like free coupons can be used to loose customers. Food so so..lot of salt in breads and curries. Overall bad experience. Didnt expect this type of experience in such a good brand restaurant.

Very disgusting - worst quality. Ordered tandoor chicken but that was dry and cold - burnt. Ordered lachha paratha but received fried tawa roti. Kulcha is just like low quality aloo paratha. Ordered some chicken curry - chicken was good but currry was bad, may be a day old. Dont waste your money here.
