Golden joy has always been one of my most favourite restaurant in the china town area. This place serves best quality Chinese at a reasonable price comparing to the rest.Although, when they remain crowded their food quality differs a lot than the usual days.Quality taste differs from day to day.But I must say their starters are a lot better than their main course dishes. Main course needs a bit of improvement I felt.But the starters are too good.Service was a bit slow due to a lot of crowd.Staffs are courteous.Some of the highly recommended food are drums of heaven, mixed thai soup, prawn chips, mixed rice, mixed noodles, dry chili chicken, golden fried prawn and etc.A much recommended place indeed.

Overall a very good place for having chienese food. It is spacious and you wont have to wait much to get a seat. However, the food takes time once ordered. We had to wait around 30 mins after ordering. They serve alcoholic beverages along with other food and drinks. Coming to food, it was awesome. Well, especially the starters and the main courses except the prawn chips. The prawn chips had the odour of raw prawns which according to me was not consumable at all.

Hands down one of the best restaurants at Chinatown town. Been here with my family and they all just loved the place. Food is great and surprisingly cheap for the humongous portion provided. Just 2 plate of rice is more than enough for 4 heads. Ambience is nice and staffs are friendly. Valet parking is a good add-on and the parking space is huge. Has a seperate smoking zone for the smokers as well. Just too good.Do visit this place if possible.

In restaurant industry, there are 2 things that matter, one is quality and the other is quantity. But this Chinese Cuisine restaurant, offers you a combination of both under the same roof.One more thing is that this restaurant caters delighting quality Pork foods, which many pork lovers will surely love.

This was my very first visit to China Town and this place didnt disappoint me at all. Though Golden joy is pretty famous but for those planning to visit this place or China Town itself for the very first time, this well arranged spacious place is almost 10 minutes walk from China Town gate. And its always good to come here with a large group as their portions are way too much for 2-3 people, even half/small portions serves 3-4 people, and might be expensive for small groups as well.Ordered:1. Chefs special Barbeque chicken: Half plate contains 12-14 pieces.Fried chicken balls cooked in barbeque sauce. Chicken was soft and fresh.2. Veg fried rice: best fried rice Ive ever had. Be it veg or non veg fried rice, it doesnt really required any side dish as the rice itself suffices taste buds.3. Singapore chicken: half plate contains 8-12 pieces of chicken cooked in mild spicy sauce. Nothing special to talk about.

Great place. The food was quite good and tasty. We were huge family dinning out and they made sure to check on our needs and serve at the right time. Weekends can result in you waiting a bit. Not my first time, and wont be my last time. Highly recommended!

A long awaited wish came true today evening. Visited Golden Joy for dinner with family. Had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. Sharing few pictures of the items I tried. I also forgot to click 3 other items. The staff was helpful and friendly. I asked them for their suggestions and the dish was great. In all it was worth the wait. Hope to visit Chinatown one more time before I leave city of joy.

China town- the name is enough for all the lovers of Chinese cuisine.I have been visiting Golden Joy since childhood and the quality is still the same as before with friendly staff and some really good Chinese food! Family environment being a plus...!Though the quantity has reduced a bit still the taste remains the same. Previously they used to have 20 pieces in every dish(fish/chk/prawn) now it has been reduced to 14. It was a joy to visit as always. On a crowded Sunday, to happily accomodate so many of us even amongst jostling crowds..the staff is ever courteous and the food is as tasty as always. The Cantonese noodles was yum and the golden fried prawns-simply delicious. And, the cost is no strain on pockets. Thank god some things never change.

Spacious interiors is the first thing you will notice .... tried Hakka, Cantonese and rice noodles with Bombay chilli chicken and Thai soup. each item was delicious and served hot.... fresh lime soda in the end was totally refreshing.

Even if you come here for dinner or even lunch in durga puja their services and food quantity and quantity doesnt deteriorates its stays the same with same taste . Thats what i like about this place though if you are going here you may have to wait in the waiting area because its kinda always busy in the night . One of the legendary Chinese restaurants in Kolkatas own Chinatown, this is always a hot spot for cosy family dinners as well as joyous get-togethers or office parties.We ordered* Chicken Wonton soup - The soup is silky smooth and the wontons delicious and filling. A Medium is enough for 2-3 people.* Golden fried prawns - Crispy and light, the prawns were a delight although a tad bigger size prawns would have been even better for this recipe.* Drums of Heaven - Dry preparation of chicken lollypop, goes well with the green chutney already on the table.* Mixed Cantonese Noodles - The star of the evening, the gravy noodles ticked all boxes for us. The noodles, thick, possibly hand made, coated with the silky rich gravy and the abundance of seasonal veggies and prawns and chicken is absolutely delicious.* Chilli Garlic Pepper Chicken - Complimenting the noodles, this dish is heavily fragrant with garlic and chopped chilliesOverall, this place is extremely value for money and atleast two generations of Kolkatans are regulars here.

I went there with my boys and found out after a wait of an hour that the restaurant was not allowing boys for the night and made an exception for us. The ambience and everything was good. Food was fair and price was okay-ish. Although drinks were just over priced. But after everything i do not understand how can a restaurant in the heart of bengal, India be this sexist that it is not allowing boys ? I understand families were present but what could we have done to them ? That was wrong. Especially there was this short skinny north indian guy whose behaviour was just not what we expect from a guy of his post. Whatever, I am quite done with this restaurant. There are many other restaurants in china town with awesome behaviour and other stuffs. So this was all, i guess .

I just love the food. During lock down I have ordered fried rice at home. Taste was excellent. Even the quantity was nice. One fried rice can be served for two. Authentic taste and I will definitely order it once again. Golden joy is very famous in China Town. Once I went there 6 yrs back and even that time I was delighted. I will recommend everyone to order food from golden Joy.

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, then China is where you will find it but if you are looking for good indochinese, then this place serves one of the best in Kolkata.

We started with prawn chips and wanton as a side dish, but the taste was so yumm that we even managed to have lunch at the same time.. people do try the meifoon over here along with chicken merged in black bean sauce 🥰🥰 but the cherry on the cake was dassan with vanilla ice cream guys do give it a try 😋😋😋

Food is overloaded, good quality and quantity wise. The only any only problem was service. If you are going in huge number may be you will get attention. Its not like that they are short in number so cant cover small groups or couple or even single foodie, but they are extremely lazy. Food is bit spicy for me. But you can always ask for make it more spicy or even less spicy. Just a basic restaurant. Nothing special about Chinese Restaurant. Ambiance is big nagative as you wont identify that it is in China Town. They should work on their looks and services. Food quality is very important for you must try this restaurant. Suggestion they can reduce the amount by 20 -30%.

Located at Tangra 50/1, Topsia, Matheswartala Road, Kolkata, West Bengal 700046, Golden Joy offers all things Chinese when it comes to the typical Tangra style. It has almost 500 covers and has a valet parking. If you like the spicy Kolkata style Chinese, then this place has a lot to offer. The noodles are all handmade and they taste delicious. Overall the food is excellent, a bit greasy but has a lot of flavour. Their portion size for every dish is very large but you can go for half plates for almost everything on the menu. Chicken hunan, Golden Joy special fried rice and golden fried prawns are some of their specialities. The dragon’s eye which is basically shrimps rolled in bread crumb and deep fried is a must try.

Before 2019 I visited this place loads of times and was one of my favorites to hang around for hours with friends and family over a few bottles of scotch and great Chinese starters.. quantity of food was huge as well.. however since 2021, the quality has degraded drastically, so has the service.. it ceases to remain an iconic brand in chinatown.. would suggest some other restaurants if you do visit chinatown (topsia)

I would have given 5 star rating, if only quality/taste of food was concerned..overall a fine place..according to localites, presently the best one in china town..they serve authentic chinese (Indo version of course) food at fair rate..rate of alcohlic drinks are also reasonable..there is no complementory snacks with drinks..there is a dedicated smokng zone..wash rooms are very clean and tidy..they accept all cards/all e mode of payment..the day I visited the place,a group of eight odd men were having food/drinks in a table..one gentleman of them started creating nuisance under alcoholic effect, though rest of them were trying to control but none from management appeared to handle the issue.. It was totally undesirable in a family place,where ladies and children are present in a large no..it might have hapenned on a particular day, but due to the role played by mamagement, I have given 3 star rating..

This place at China Town, Tangra. This is One of the famous restaurant at China Town. I would like to say everyone that you must try golden fried fish which is just awesome. Im also tried mixed fried rice which is not up to the mark. Rice was not well cooked. Rest of the items are good.

One of the newer places in Chinatown having a good ambience and large seating space. The rooftop is also very good for having a couple of beers and hanging out. Drinks dont burn a hole in your pocket, and the food is of a larger portion making it a superb place for hanging out with friends or a large family. The food is good, especially loved the halka noodles and golden fried prawns. The chicken was fresh and tender, not at all overcooked. Will definitely visit again.

High on taste. Dishes that wont be served anywhere other than Tangra. That means you get more options than the normal run of the mill items offered by its fine dining counterparts (Read speciality group).

Located just next to china town gate near 4no.bridge.A family restaurant. With wide space for good amount of gathering at a time.Serves authentic Chinese cuisine. And alcohol as well. In general they have separate area for gents only and separate for family. But during rush they make both the area for family sitting. They have good system for waiting customers during rush. They hand you a token to wait in the waiting lounge. Then they call.Food was really good. Price was proportional wity the quantity.But staffs arrangement and coordination need to be upgraded. As after ordering my first dish... No one was coming to take the next order. You have to literally call them many times to take the orders coz of the rush.

I never had such an authentic Chinese dish in Kolkata. The taste of each and every item was just superb. Quantity was also sufficient for a couple. Definitely will come again to try other dishes.

One of the best Chinese restaurant at China Town. Overall ambiance will give you a Chinese feel starting from large red colour gate at the entrance, internal decoration and essence of food. Will charge you 1000/ to 1200/ for two, car parking is free, lots of trained stuff will take care of all your needs. Can have a drink with friends or office colleagues in the weekend. Only gents are not allowed in the family section, you must accompany a girl to enjoy the most.
