Perfect cute place to satisfy your craving for kerala cuisine! Food served on banana leaf. Scrumptious idiyuppam, sadap ,malabar porota .in short loved the food.Hygiene top class ,In this pandemic difficult to find a good place. Important mention ..was impressed with the toilet very clean toilet with toilet essentials n SEAT SANITIZER!
Poor taste and hospitality .price is too high for what they serve.customer service is very bad
Pathetic restaurant. The price is like star hotels and poor staff behaviour. It does not serve authentic Kerala cuisine though
The food was very bad.... Not recommending this resto to anyone...
Located at 22/1C, Deshapriya Park Rd, Dover Terrace, Kalighat, Kolkata, West Bengal 700029, Ammini restuarant is a food destination for South Indian food lovers. You can relish malabar porotta with chicken roast appam and mutton stew, dosa/idlis with sambhar and chutney variants. Cramped space, decorations reminding one of Kerala, few items on the menu with over pricing, sum up in few words about this place.
Great experience. The taste of their dishes are excellent. However, the foods are little overpriced.
The menu has all south Indian Kerala dishes, but the taste I doubt it. Being a person from kerala, I assure you this is not the real taste of Kerala you are looking for. Moreover the menu is highly priced, one Malabar porotta costing Rs.110/- (A porotta in Kerala costs Rs.10 to 20) and the porotta served was sweet. We ordered the chicken roast that cost Rs. 250/- which was served in a small bowl and had five small pieces of chicken. I even doubt the food was heated in a microwave and served to us. It was a one time visit for me with a very negative experience. I dont think I will visit the restaurant again. Two stars I give for the interiors and good ambience. You dont get any worth of the money you spend here.
Staff : 5/5Ambience : 5/5Food : 5/5Cleanliness, Hygiene : 5/5Cost $$$ (1200 approx. for 2 people at Lunch)Location : 5/5#Ammini Resturant - Please Rectify or remove #Ammini (Google page as directs customers to diff location, yesterday roamed Kolkata for 2 hrs to reach your place). Also #Ammini Resturant page comes 2nd in Google search page. Need to update your store name in Zomato also to Ammini Resturant from only Ammini.Great resturant. Keep up the good service. Will visit again for sure.
Food is good...but SERVICE IS EXTREMELY PATHETIC...no one bothers to attend the guests ..they forget the orders...u keep sitting in between the meals...but they just dont bother to ask ...... also..ITS TOO HIGHLY PRICED AND THAT TOO WITH SUCH LESS PORTION SIZE....
Small joint, limited table but delicious food. If you are cracinf for appam or authentic South Indian meal. You should definitely try this place. Its really nice and different. Their serving style is nice too
I hadnt recieved the total order which i have placed for take away. The mutton item was missing and i saw it once i reached home and i paid 540rs for it. This type of behavior is not forgivable.
I keep on returning to this place once in a while, a definite hub to relish the legendary Keralan cuisine. Well maintained joint manned by courteous staff, Ammini will live up to both your gastronomic & ambient hunger. Mutton Ollethede is a MUST try, even for people who are non vegetarian, yet avoid red meat. Have a glass of butter milk to wash down the spices after the hearty meal. The earthen glasses & banana leaf plates are just added cuteness. The menu is slightly hefty on the wallet, but definitely worth every penny!!Go out on a date or with family, or just go alone, this place to oils cater every heart.
Awesome Uppam Mutton and stuff behaviour.
Nice n peaceful place with delicious south indian dishes
Superb authentic Kerala cuisine with a homely touch and great service
Great place good menu. Wonderful service. Genuine Kerala food we get here.
Too costly for d quality of food nd ambience.
Food was nice and presentation was nice wants to visit this place again
Some machine they have is too noisy, killing conversation. Fine otherwise.
It was a OK experience. One of the few restaurants in kolkata offering authentic kerala food. But do not have much option in the menu and most importantly taste is very average, as you will not enjoy the meal.
A must visit for all who like Kerela cuisine or want to get a taste of it. Visited the place during Durga Puja this year. Even though the place isnt that big enough but still a little wait can be rewarding since the food there is extremely good. It is a bit different and that makes it quite unique. For instance, the Masala Dosa we had was extremely good in taste. So much so that it prompted us to order for other dishes. Would definitely like to visit again.
I will never suggest this restaurant to Keralites. I really got disappointed after having dinner from this restaurant .Food is exhorbinantly high and the portions are very less. The quality of food is compromised and was not up to the mark. Ambience and overall feel about the restaurant was quite good. But as a destination to indulge yourself tosome authentic Kerala cuisine, this place is not worth your money.
Poor quality. And the quantity was also less.Very high prices. Neatness and ambience was pleasant. Address in google was wrong.
Good to have a sumptuous tasty biriyani
Overall experience was bad to say the least. The quantity of portions were very below average. On calling the restaurant, they passed on the buck to the delivery executive.Thoroughly unprofessional behaviour and my last order from them.
We had coconut rice, lemon rice and vada. Coconut rice was very tasty, must try. Nice ambience, presentation was good and courteous staff.
Amazing experience.. very authentic... food is really good.. must visit
I was a big fan of Ammini food. But my last order has completely changed that perspective. The dishes were extremely overpriced & the quality-quantity was just pathetic. Dont react to my reaction on the price as this wasnt my 1st time. Have been to their restaurant couple of times but this time the quantity & quality didnt justify its price. Extremely disappointed with Ammini & probably it was my last order/visit.
Wrong address in google. The restaurant exists in Ballygunje and not in Nova Park. MIG B-15, Niva Park Phase 3, Bramhapur, Kolkata, West Bengal 700096 is a residential building where a Malayali family resides. .Not sure if people residing are aware of this.About Ballygunje Ammini restaurant, food is authentic Kerala cuisine but over priced. An appam costs you Rs 60, one small glass of Payasam costs you Rs 190.Coffee costs you Rs 90. Overall expensive and comes to Rs 2000 for 2 persons. Nothing much about ambience or anything covers the price. Limited seating area. 4 star for food quality but over priced.
Ammu I was a restaurant I lov d to visit in the pre - COVID days , so we went there yesterday with friends , & was really disappointed. The staff was as pleasant & courteous as ever , but the quality of food is not worth mentioning. Although we were there by 8.15 , we were told the chicken Josi curry was over, but they offered to make it . As expected, it was tasteless:( - it was literally pieces of boiled chicken in gravy . The dry mutton dish was all bone & no meat ! So the bill of ₹1300 was not a pleasant surprise ! Immediate attention called for .
THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT LOCATIONActual location:22/1A, Manohar Pukur Rd, Dover Terrace, Ballygunge, Kolkata, West Bengal 700019
The food is healthy and tasty.
This restaurant serves really heavenly Malyali food. Worth the visit each and every time.
Food quality was good but overall experience was below average. From price point of view was bit over priced compare to the quantity served. Delay in servicing the food had to wait for long. Will not recommend to sit and have food rather ordering from online will be a better option.
The food is really tasty but pretty costly.
Authentic kerala cusine. Amazing preparation...Nice interior decoration.
Quantity is less in comparison to price. Food tastes like Bengali cuisine.
Amazing place and amazing staff.. Food deserves 10 stars .BEWARE THE DIRECTION GIVEN ON THE GOOGLE MAP IS INCORRECT.
Ammini is undoubtedly THE BEST MALAYALI food place in town. Not only the flavour but also you can feel the culture of Kerala inside the cafe. The Banana leaf, clay glasses and the hospitality may take you to Keral.Coming to the food, We had,Ghee DosaPodi IdliMalabar ParathaMutton OlathedeAppam and Potato StewUniappamPayasamWe started our meal with Ghee Dosa and it went perfect with potato and two coconut(normal and spicy) chutneys. One thing to mention, their Sambar is not typical watery one, it has some thickness in it and indeed the flavors. A great start of the meal. Then comes the SHOWSTOPPER Podi Idli, it is the best idli that I have in recent times. It was so soft that it melted in our mouth, it got a reach GHEE flavour and texture from the spices. A must have in Ammini. We then had the classic Malabar Paratha and Mutton Olathede combo. The parathas were flaky and it went perfectly with the mutton. Coming the mutton, the pieces were soft, succulent and the dry roast was mesmerizing. Water came in my mouth while writing the reiew. The manager was so kind that they served a complimentary Appam and Potato stew. One of the best veg food I have ever tried. Soft and flaky appam and starchy potato stew was a perfect combination. A must try for all the vegetarians out there.Last but not the least the Desserts.!! Uniappam and payasam both were good on their own. Soft and hot uniappam was not that sweet which made it more tasty. You can taste the banana in it and the payasam was thick and you can taste the roasted coconut. It was a perfect ending of the meal.Overal I must say, It was a great great experience, we enjoyed alot. My final rating.Food- 5/5Service- 5/5Value for Money- 4/5Overall Experience- 5/5Follow us on Instagram @tripsntreats01Subscribe us on youtube TripsnTreats.
The taste of Kerala
Kolkata basically being a foodie destination, there are innumerous cuisines and styles to explore. To indulge your taste buds to some kerala cuisine,Ammini restaurant can be an option.Despite being cramped up in a tiny place, one thing to be appreciated is that the restaurant has included many elements like mural paintings, and kerala utensils etc which brings a glimpse about a Keralian ambience.I would say this restaurant can be a starter for people who are willing to try some Kerala dishes or at least get a feel about how kerala cuisine would taste like. Non malayalis would really appreciate this place for their Keralian appetite. Though the dishes are few,one can experience classic combos like Malabar Porotta with Chicken Roast Appam and Mutton Stew, Dosa/Idlis with Sambhar and Chutney variants. And that pretty much sums up the things which they do offer, which is not everything about Kerala food.Kerala is a place where you inarguably encounter a myriad of styles and variety of dishes and the variances of them differing from northern Kerala to Southern Kerala. For example Avial, a simple vegetarian dish has different presentations in different parts of Kerala. Similarly, this treatment happens to other vegetarian and non Vegetarian dishes too. So to include more options and dishes could be a humble suggestion, because Kerala has soo much to offer to a non malayali or to a foodie when it comes to food. Now,to a typical malayali or an average malayali foodie,This cannot become the place to come and cater your uncontrollable craving to have some Kerala food. Why? Just Simply because a usual combo of 2 porotta and a Chicken roast is pretty exhorbitant.Trust me way too high from the usual amount you give back home.Despite that, when you are willing to go for it, because you soo wana have some Kerala food to reach your belly the portions given here are exiguous. But then, Rich Mallus please be their guests.
Great Kerala food
Very good👍
Old favourite.
Taste of food is good. But when we order through swiggy, these people are packing only 50% items and trying to cheat us. Many times I have suffered. Very indecent habit, in such a quality restaurant. For example, instead of three idlies, they pack only two. In meals , they purposely miss curd, sweet, papad etc.Very worst experience, I had.
Decent food, quality has degraded a lot
Small place with wonderful and authentic Kerala food
Great place. Small and cozy. Food is to die for. Loosing one star because the mutton had alot of bones and not as much meat as one would like.
Kerala Dish
Genuine Kerala restaurant
If you dont know much about keralian food, this place would be a good place to start. The food tastes very good. The people are extremely helpful. For a first timer, they come and explain every food and help you choose.Only problem I had was, the food portions were a little less than we expected. But if you want tasty, light, fluffy, easy to digest food.... This is definitely for you.
Ok
The Saravanans shop near my home provides better taste and quantity at one fourth price. Highly over priced and very less quantity. Never had such worst experience.
Great, great food! Dosas not quite like the classics in Calcutta but the rest is divine! Beautiful place, helpful staff, 10/10 recommended!
Food was bit below average. The staffs though were courteous and polite. 3 stars only for the staff. The food gets a negative rating.
One of the best South Indian cuisine restaurants out there. Delicious food and courteous staff. Prices are also quite pocket-friendly.
Friendly staff, prompt and helpful service and staff, but most importantly, consistently delicious food. Visited Ammini after a gap of 3 years and Im delighted to report that everything is still as great as it was. This visit included the mutton olathede, fish in banana leaf and a bowl of hearty chicken stew with some fresh appams.10/10 would do again.
Dont like service
Lovely Food and ambiance
Good keralian food. ambience is good. situated in a nice place near tridhara. slightly costly.
For best experience of Kerala cuisine. Highly recommended. You can never go wrong with Ammini.
Very cosy ambiance. Enjoyed the food and service was also up-to the mark
Make shift kerala restaurant. Abnormal pricing. Quality is good
New experience. Special Dry Mutton ( forgot the actual name) with Malabar Paratha is a good combination to taste. But expected more fish items. Ambience is cozy. POS did not work during payment which caused problem for us .
Great quality of food with a taste of flavour of Kerala...Quick service and value for money.
It was very lovely.....
Delicious food,good portions
