๐๏ธMetallurgical marvel๐ฉSri Ambabai temple,โ๏ธ KolhapurProbably the only idol in the world that was made using three metalssilver, copper and brass. Here the face of the Goddess is made of silver, the rest of the body is made of copper and the cloth is made of brass. The melting points of these three metals are different. There is no welding anywhere on this idol, it is an unbroken idol. The same feature is of the lion below the goddess, the whole body is of copper and the ayal is of brass. Even today, attempts to make such idols have failed.๐๏ธThe Shri Ambabai (Mahalaxmi) Temple of Kolhapur in Maharashtra.๐๐ฉ
We were blessed with Goddess Mahalakshmi to have her Darshana on 07/01/2021 at about 1.30pm. The priests were decorating the idol with flowers for 3.00pm Darshana. Her Highness given an opportunity for one more Darshana at around 6.30pm on 08/01/2021.It is better to enter the temple empty handed, because coconuts, flowers, fruits, etc are not accepted. We can have Darshana within 15 minutes if we are behind 100 people approx in the queue.Meals in the form of Prasada is arranged near the temple (approx 500 meters) by well managed team. Do not skip this. It is available upto 3 pm.Surrounding area is congested, but traffic moves smoothly. People are good. Shop keepers help to park cars. Better to park cars at a distance of 1 to 2 km in a suitable place so that we can view the place conveniently.
It mahalaxmi oldest temple very nice place
Shri Mahalakshmi Temple (also popularly known as The Ambabai Temple, is an important Hindu temple dedicated to Durga located on the banks of the river Panchganga in Kolhapur city of Maharashtra, India. It is about 230 km south of Pune.Temple of the goddess Ambabai was built during Chalukya reign. Mounted on a stone platform, the murti of the crowned goddess is made of gemstone and weighs about 40 kilograms. The image of Mahalakshmi carved in black stone is 3 feet in height. The Shri Yantra is carved on one of the walls in the temple. A stone lion (the vahana of the goddess), stands behind the statue. The crown contains an image of the Sheshnag, the serpent of Vishnu. In her four hands, the deity of Mahalakshmi holds objects of symbolic value. The lower right hand holds a mhalunga (a citrus fruit), in the upper right, a large mace (kaumodaki) the mace of Vishnu with its head touching the ground, in the upper left a shield and in the lower left, a bowl (panpatra). Unlike most Hindu sacred images, which face north or east, the deity faces West (Pashchim). There is a small open window on the western wall, through which the light of the setting sun falls on the face of the image for three days around the 21st of each March and September. There are a number of other shrines in the courtyard to the Navagrahas, Surya, Mahishasuramardini, Vitthal-Rukmini, Shiva, Vishnu, Bhavani and others. Some of these images date back to the 11th century, while some are of recent origin. Also located in the courtyard is the temple tank Manikarnika Kund, on whose bank is a shrine to Visweshwar Mahadev.

I was stopped from entering this temple because I was wearing SHORTS!!! And not just me my 9yr old brother too!! What sort of rules are these.. what sort of God wouldnt allow his followers to enter because they were wearing shorts?? Instead we was forced to wear a lungi which was sold by out side the temple by the temple trust its self. While the pujaris inside were allow to roam topless with only there dhotis on. Makes total sense!
