Super relaxing atmosphere, great customer service, and great location. The prices weren’t to high compared to similar restaurants in the area. The salad was very tasty, decent portion size, and was exactly what I wanted. The herbal tea was hot, tasty, and warmed me up.I would definitely suggest Gaia Restaurant & Coffee Shoo.

We had breakfast here and it was by far the quickest service weve experienced in Nepal. Portion was generous and the food was enjoyable. However, the waitstaff can make you feel a bit uncomfortable by watching you as you eat your food and constantly asking if everything is okay.

Had visited this restaurant over past few trips.Good ambience with indoor/outdoor seatings. Fire at the courtyard in the winter nights. Not busy at all for dinner in late night and hence service is prompt.Thai red curry isnt spicy but taste fine, so is chicken tikka masaala. Pretty consistent in taste.Quite good breakfast too.

I could not recommend Gaia more highly. Youll find it down a quiet street from the busy heart of Thamel; if the weather is warm it is a real joy to sit outside in the courtyard. My friend and I stayed at a hotel just a few minutes walk from Gaia and this was our usual place for lunch and dinner.Over the course of a week in Kathmandu, and then two more days before flying out, we tried many items on the menu. It is a good mix of Western and Nepali, with fresh salads, soups, pasta and rice dishes. The food was consistently delicious and we really appreciated the generous portions. Here is my list of recommended dishes:- Minestrone soup, hearty with pasta inside and grated cheese on top- Sausages chilly, tender sausage pieces with grilled tomato, pepper and red onion in a wonderfully spiced sauce; a great appetizer to share- Penne with meat sauce (your choice of chicken/beef)- Chicken sandeko, cooked in Nepalese spices and served with rice and salad- Dal bhat, easily one of the best we tried in Nepal- Barbecued chicken, marinated in masala, with potatoes in cream sauce and salad in a tasty viniagrette (available in the evenings from Wednesday-Friday during the fuel crisis)Service was attentive and quick; in fact we found it the speediest of all the places we tried in Nepal over a three week period. Gaia was an obvious choice for a last meal before a midnight flight, and the entire experience from being seated to finishing our meal and paying the bill took just half an hour.

Very popular for their breakfast, Gaia Restaurant and coffee shop is also somewhere I would prefer to go if I have to work other than from home. Their semi outdoor and outdoor space filled with lots of greeneries and traditional structures design with a very earthy colored walls help to bring calmness and peacefulness to this place which is quite contrary to the location it is situated in: Thamel.

Good food in a fantastic ambiance. Both indoor and outdoor seating are offered. The outdoor seating is in an enclosed courtyard. Candles decorate the tables. The restaurant is busy but never had to wait for a table for two. Larger parties may want to make a reservation. Good curries -- Indian, Nepali, and Thai -- and western foods are available. My wife and I had the curries, the hummus, and the onion rings over three nights of dining. All were enjoyable. Excellent service. Good local beers. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Our local guide brought us to this place after an eleven days trekking trip to langtang valley. The restaurant appeared ordinary. Dont be misled by it. Firstly, they have a comprehensive menu with vast selection of cuisine. And most importantly, their foods are superdly good. I must say they did the pork chop extremely well. Full of flavours, tender and juicy. Without doubt, one of the best pork chop i ever had. Steak chic wings satay are all better than good.

Review №76

Good food; nice ambience, but the most atrocious manager / cashier I have come across in the hospitality business.Just back after an horrific experience which puts a damper on an otherwise excellent 9 day holiday in Khatmandu and Pokhara. We chanced upon this restaurant as it was outside our Hotel (The Mulberry). The Thupka soup and the Avocado salad we started off with were both rather nice and we decided to round our meal off with hot apple pie topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. We were surprised that the so called Applie Pie was only the apple stuffing and the encasing pie or crust was missing. We brought this to the notice of the person who served us and he said he would check. He did not return for a while and we requested another waiter to bring us the manager who we could see sitting behind the cash counter. Five minutes pass by and still no waiter or manager came to us.Finally we walked to the counter to talk to the manager only to find him absolutely defensive and claiming that a proper slice of pie was served and we were complaining for no reason. We tried to explain to him what had happened and he refused to accept our statement. He went to the extent of getting racist and saying that all INDIANS behave in such a manner at which point both my wife and I were furious. We asked him for his name which he refused to say. We found out later from another staff that his name is Sarosh.A most horrific experience to an otherwise lovely holiday.Sadashiv Bhatt, Dubai, United Arab EmiratesNamaste Hari,I have seen your response and am happy that you have given your name. I am also happy that the entire evening is available on CC camera and hope that you do indeed forward the same.I would implore you to please not miss the following:1. The serving of the so called APPLE PIE2. Our conversation at the cash counter when you refused to come to our table upon request. Specially the part where you air your views about INDIANS.As to the payment for the food we consumed the total bill was 780 Nepali Rupees and the same has been paid in full. Ofcourse I did not pay the 290 Nepali Rupees for the so called Apple Pie which we did not eat.I have had some of the most amazing experiences in Kathmandu with restaurants like Krishnarpan at Dwarika Hotel, The Wine Bistro and Jaaz Upstairs in Lazimpet and Trisara Kathmandu as well as in Pokhara with restaurants such as Crazy Gecko; The Circle Restaurant at the Fish Tail Lodge and OR2K.I repeat that my entire Nepal experience was shot down by your attitude and response to serving a bad dish.
