Just below our hotel was this cafe called Black Olives. The place was quite busy specially for morning breakfast as well as dinner. We could see many tourists dining at this place so we decided to have a breakfast to keep moving on for the rest of the day. The food was good and tasted nice.

We tried this place as the menu looked nice as did the outside seating area. The service was prompt and friendly. While we were there they had a fire going in the center court area and some traditional live Nepali music. If you want a calm environment in the Thamel area, this a certainly a perfect place for that. Oh, and it was very clean—always a plus!

Not so sure the name of the meal set. Overall of the food are nice and tasty. Served with original garlic tea with honey. Quite cozy place. Enjoy!

After trekking for nearly three weeks we wanted a juicy burger. The bacon cheese burger at Black Olives surely fit the bill. Washed down with two cold bottles of Tubourg beer we were ready for a much needed nap. Great fries. Great Service. highly recommended.

I had one of the best Lunch yesterday at Blackolives. They have freshly made momo and great coffee. Even during the virus pandemic, they are offering quite many choices of menu. I will go back again soon.Many thanks to the team.DPS

Super romantic atmosphere, at least in the evening. I was on my own but it would be perfect for a quite couple evening ;) Food was good as well as service. Prices are good since 10% and 13% VAT is already included so you dont get suprise at the end :)

A really lovely dinner spot on the edges of the Thamel region in Kathmandu. Momos were on point and occasionally youll be extra lucky and get a live band playing for your evenings entertainment!Good, attentive service from the staff makes this a great dining experience for dinner.

I stayed in Kat city for 6 days and had dinner there 4 days. Unbelievable Beef Sizzling Steak...out of the world Pizza and cool live music on Thursday and Friday night.

Fantastic spot. Top quality food and incredibly well priced. Some great international wines too! Very quick service with meals coming out fast, even with a group of 16!

Best salad in town. And also the burgers and steaks are very tasty. They dont charge extra VAT!The prices are around 300-400 rupees for burgers, 500 for steaks.

The environment is very good and special, the feel is different from other restaurants in Thamel I think. Very romantic restaurant, and the menu is drawn by hands.

Had dinner here (beef burger) and a beer. The burger was OK - nothing amazing, the beef patty didnt taste like mince patties Im used to and most likely came frozen - served with simple side salad and fries. Quite pricey for what is was in my opinion. Nice ambience though with courtyard seating. I did see plenty of other foreigners/ tourists like myself dining here

The pasta here is freaking amazing, once serving of the bacon and chicken pasta was enough for two people, maybe the heavy cream made us feel fuller

The food, service, and ambience at the Black Olives Cafe are outstanding in every respect. Its set in a lovely little courtyard off the main drag, so you feel like youre a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. All the food is good, but the steaks are exceptional, and the Fantastic Steak (see photo) certainly lives up to its name. If youre here at breakfast time then try the Eggs Benedict - you will not be disappointed!

Good place for breakfast. I stayed at the Thamel grand hotel where you get free breakfast from Black olives Cafe, so my review is mostly based on breakfast. Good selection and was impressed with the juice and coffee provided. Only little problem was that I asked for my eggs over easy and they were a little under done, the top was still too jelly for my taste. But that said I have noticed most places seem to do the eggs like this if asked for over easy.

UPDATE: so if I understand you correctly, because it was low season (obviously), it is ok to have bad pizza, drilling noises, and an unhappy waiter serving customers? If I remember well, there were two slices left and that was only because we did not want any food wastage. I stopped after a slice and my friend had to force himself to finish it. We were having a good conversation because of the company we had and we didn’t want the lousy ambience spoiling our day. Shouldn’t a restaurant strive to have decent service standards, low season or not?By far, the worst Hawaiian pizza I have tasted in Nepal, and I have tasted many delicious ones here. All ingredients slided off the crust when I tried to pick up a slice. It left a bitter taste (literally) in my mouth. My friend and I were also served by a waiter with the most unhappy expression. Also, they were fixing the rooftop with loud drilling and banging noises. Unpleasant ambience and experience. Will not be back again.

Had my New Year 2076 dinner there and talking about the place, it was very cozy, the food was quite good and the live band music had been just awesome. All in all, I really loved that place and recommend others to visit once.

Really good restaurant. The food is cheaper than other nearby restaurants. Most importantly the 23% tax, which is very common in most restaurants and hotels, is included in the food price. Breakfast is really good. They also organize live acoustic sessions on every friday night.

I stayed at the adjoining hotel called the Thamel Grand Hotel and ate at Black Olives Cafe on a regular basis, so I was lucky enough to try a variety of their meals. Every item I ordered was beautifully presented, tasted amazing and was reasonably priced. The staff are friendly, speak great English and are attentive to your needs (if its not too busy service is relatively quick). The ambiance is great especially if you need a few moments to relax from the busy streets of Thamel. I would definitely recommend Black Olives Cafe.

One of few restaurant in Kathmandu that is not cooking homemade...Disappointing!I have to tell that Ive been quite disappointed by the restaurant that a friend recommend me. The place is great, the service ok.I ordered a meal with chapati, first of all the brought me rice instead and when I said that I requested chapati the took the rice (to throw it away? STUPID) I remembered thinking I would wait a lot but nope...in 5 min I had my chapati but not homemade with NO TASTE.It happened again fort the dessert, I ordered a crepe with banana, they brought me an industrial crepe that was disgusting!! Litteraly a crepe is so easy a quick to do, I dont understand...that was the first and only time in Nepal that someone is not really cooking a crepe, even in small places they do.Anyway black olive is a big restaurant for tourist with bad quality of food and prices are not even cheap.

We eat dal bhat. Normal, regular dal bhat. Not bad not good. Just solid food. If you looking something with wow effect, not here.

We ordered dinner from here, which included VEg Burger for me , Hamburger for my friend (both came with fries and Veg Salad). Also, we ordered dessert here as well. Overall, an OK fare.

Great cold coffee, nice quick and friendly service. The staff use local organic coffee, if that is something that floats your boat.
